Basically just tore him to pieces. Slashed a good part out of his throat first if I remember correctly. She went after him when he has a huge hole in his chest and one arm. Pretty much just smashed him into scrap, went absolutely berserk on him for about 15 minutes.

It'd be close. The Hulk has raw strength and durability over him. But, The Fury's a cold, calculated killing machine that can pick you apart, look at your weakness's, and strike with suprising speed, strength, expertise, and so on. I mean, let me give you an exert from an old Captain Britain comic. The Fury's tracked Captain Britain down, and waits until the perfect time to strike, when Cap's over his own open grave. The Fury stands there, after coming out of the shadows behind Cap. Narration states... "A gland oozes, a circuit is completed" He blows Captain Britain into nothingness, and then hangs around for a while, thinking that Captain Britain isn't truly dead, and he isn't, as a cosmically powerful being as began to recreate his body. The Fury's by this time already started adapting so he can dimension hope to another Earth to kill him again. And as stated about 10,000 times in the comics... It never gives up. And this is after it killed thousands of super heros and villians, an entire Earths population worth. Some very bad ass/powerful beings in that list as well...

Going back a few pages, I was thinking of more division names for the new season. How about Gateway for the new DC division? Gateway City is the home of Wonder Woman. That would give the conference the DC trinity: the homes of Supes, Bats, and WW.

Hey guys, I'm up against Katalia this week, and I know very little about her. I've searched the web for a bio or powers list for her to no avail, could someone give me a rundown of her powers? From what I got out of the limited information I could find, and from Corp's previous DTL's, she is a pretty powerful telepath/telekinetic. Is that correct? Does she have any other powers? Thanks in advance.

Here's your Katalia info Tropico:
History: Katalia is an alien from the planet Competalia. It was ruled by a woman named Anathema. The scientists of the planet developed a process through which they could grant themselves super powers, but Anathema forced the scientists to alter the procedure so that over a very short period of time the people who'd received super powers would be subjugated under her will. They basically became drones, obedient only to her. She started tossing anyone who opposed her into a fairly lenient prison (kind of like the Gulag from Kingdom Come; people could walk around freely inside, but couldn't leave).

Over a few years, the prison grew into a city and the people organized a government for themselves, separate from Anathema's rule. They began calling the prison-city Haven as a symbol of their resistance to Anathema. Anathema didn't really care much, since she was just herding all of her opponents in there to eventually kill them in one fell swoop anyway, but then one of the scientists who'd developed the original power-granting process, a guy named Siv, defected to Haven in secret. He refined the process, allowing people to gain powers without being forced to obey Anathema. This led to the formation of a group called the Alliance, composed of individuals who gained really good or useful powers from Haven's power-granting procedure. Basically, the Alliance was a police force/JLA for Haven since it had developed into a full society with its own crime and problems. Eventually everyone underwent Haven's version of the power procedure, so everyone in Haven has powers of some sort (like Marvel's Inhumans, they don't choose their powers, they just get whichever power they get).

Katalia's parents were politicians under Anathema while Katalia herself believed in Haven's message of resistance. Eventually Katalia was separated from her family and her parents were presumably killed, since Anathema had no need for politicians with everyone under her thumb. Katalia went to Haven and asked Siv to perform the procedure on her. She gained psychic and empathic powers. Haven's government then began constructing massive engines beneath Haven, turning the city into a starship. The day of the launch, Katalia used her power to cloud Anathema and her soldiers' minds so that Haven could launch before they could stop it.

Haven traveled through space for years before finally being sabotaged from within and crash-landing on Earth. They'd heard tales of Earth even on Competalia about Earthlings defeating Darkseid and the Sun-Eater, and some of the people in the highest echelons of Haven's government chose Earth as their new home in the hopes that the resident super-beings would help them against Anathema. There was a spy onboard, though, and they sabotaged the engines further, making Haven crash-land on Earth instead of landing gently. The JLA showed up to help, Katalia mind-melded with the Martian Manhunter and explained, and they were eventually accepted as a city of the United States (they'd landed in California).

Powers: Katalia is an impressive telekinetic/telepath/empath. As I said, she clouded Anathema and her soldiers' minds all over the planet when Haven launched, though that strained her pretty much to her limits.

When Haven landed on Earth, the onboard prison was damaged, allowing some prisoners to break free. They attacked the JLA and the remaining Alliance members, including Katalia. Katalia and J'onn combined their telepathic powers, however, and pulled all of the lingering emotions of suffering and pain from the residents of Haven and from the city itself and redirected them at the prisoners, which caused the prisoners to actually manifest physical damage (broken bones, bleeding, the works). The prisoners, who were holding their own against the JLA, were completely subdued under Katalia and J'onn's mental assault.

Katalia's mental powers are overloaded later when a traitor gets the drop on her. She recovers thanks to another Alliance member's help and comes back to nail the traitor, who's pretty much more powerful and durable than any other Havenite, with a telekinetic blast that brings him to his knees. She then lifts the traitor, who looks to be about as large as the Thing or the Hulk, off the ground without any trouble using her telekinesis.

She can telepathically probe minds and extract information, which she used to learn English in a heartbeat and to learn about a plot in Haven involving Anathema's coming to Earth.

Finally, she channels a telepathic attack from just about every Havenite and the Martian Manhunter, through herself to Anathema, which, in conjunction with a serum that Siv gave Anathema to weaken her, knocks Anathema out. Before the serum, Anathema had been single-handedly kicking the JLA and the new Alliance's collective ass.

After the end of the "Aquaman search" arch in JLA Atlantis was put in a deep sea trench. The make up of the town and society has changed and I believe the city isn't domed anymore. For all our benefits I think it's safe to say that the battleground will be the Domed Atlantis city, preferably when the Atlanteans had left for a while and there was only the ruins of the city. There should be a breathable atmosphere.

I think it would be neat for the final championship match to include the entire team, all seven from each side. Include everyone that's got them that far,... this is the big fight after all.

Well, the website is coming along, and it looks like I've gotten it to the point where we'll be able to view and, to some degree, change our lineups. I've been testing on my home computer, and it works fine, but it's just about time to move the site to a new home and do testing there. It looks like the server I'm currently using on campus will work once I figure out how to move the database, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep the site up there.

So, does anyone know of any good, free site hosts on the internet? There are just 4 requirements that need to be met by any host:
#1--The site must obviously be free. No charge for anything.
#2--Since it will be free, they'll probably want to advertise on the site. Advertising is best done only through popups or popunders (popups that appear only when the browser window is minimized or closed), otherwise the site may look screwed up. The exception would be hosts that allow me to place advertisements within pages where I want. I might be able to incorporate those kinds of ads.
#3--The site must support PHP scripting (preferably PHP4 or a higher version). I might be able to get by with ASP or JSP scripting, but it'll require me to rewrite the code, and that will take time. I'm most familiar with PHP.
#4--The site should support and provide mySQL databases. If the site supports PHP, it most likely will support mySQL. But they might use a different type of database that I don't know how to use.

I've already found two likely candidates to move the site to if it becomes necessary. http://www.coolfreepages.com/ and http://www.50free.com/
Does anyone know anything about these two hosts? They sound good, but I haven't found many reviews about them, and that makes me nervous. Getting ripped off makes me angry, and you wouldn't like me when I'm angry. :hulk:

If you know of anyother hosting services, and have had, or heard about, good experiences with them, let me know and I'll check them out.

Another question... I know each character is restricted to two different variations. Like, The Savage Hulk and The Maestro. But would The Grey Hulk or The Professor be counted among the same? I mean, The Grey Hulk has a completely different body and intelligence when compared to other Hulk's. The Savage Hulk has nothing to do with Banner, unlike The Professor. I'm just curious what the ruling is on this...

I wanted to continue discussion here on a subject in one of the DTL battle threads. It's regarding the "DTL continuity".

My point of view, as seen in my write up, is that characters have no real idea of what is happening to them or what the end result will be. Other's people point of view is that people are aware of what is happening and that they are aware that they can die and still come back.

IMO, being aware that a character can come back takes away from the battles. I know some write ups put people (even from their team) dying from their opponents' hand. How do they come back? I rationalized it as the battles taking place with no casualties; our write ups are just a possible way the fight could have happened, not the definitive one.

Could we have a concrete answer for this? I know this would, in a way, complicate matters; but I also see it as preventing future problems.

I've always treated these write-ups as a "what if these people fought these people," not "what if these people fought these people, then these people, then these people." In my last write-up, I killed off two of my own people because thats how I thought the fight would go. I wanted to be realistic. I think that, if you write a write-up with future battles in mind, it limits what you can do with that write-up. If you treat each week as a completely separate and unique encounter, it takes away any limits that might be inherent with a sort of continuity.

I like to write mine in continuity because I like developing a storyline between the characters, such as Ultraman's growing respect for Cable. I basically picture it as a future version of the Exiles team.

The way I see it is that the characters know that they are in a battle, sorta like a Contest of Champions or what have you.
About characters knowing that if they die they can come back...well, I don't see any problems with that myself. It is kinda BS I guess, but as long as the characters stay in character it doesn't bother me.

The characters don't necessarily have to know they will come back if killed. Some of their teammates have gone away, and haven't returned, and they wouldn't really know why or how. So it is possible for them to think that if they die they may come back, or they may be replaced. And who knows what happens when your replaced. Keeps their sacrifice kind of heroic.

I'd say the problem with characters knowing they'll come back is that the concept of death loses all meaning. And as a result, characters can be made to do things they would never do in comics, and owners can provide arguments to support it. For example, someone could have Superman tear Batman's head off. Would he do that in comics? Hell no. But in DTL, where he knows as soon as his team wins, Batman will pop right back, good as new, why not just off him? Another example is from this week's write-ups. People remarked how out of character it was for Mary Marvel to just sit back and watch the world blow up. But if she knew the world and everything on it would just come right back when the fight was over, why not? No harm, no foul.

I've got the website and database loaded at the campus server. So now you can check out the progress so far. Only my team information is displayed because I haven't populated the entire database, and, well, it's my team, and I'm the programmer.

What can you do with the site right now? If you go to the teams section, it will load the teams page, from which you can choose a division and team. An unfilled page will load displaying the name of the team, and a database error. But if you choose my team (Wakanda/Chaos & Order) you'll see the team information page fully load, and get a good look at what you'll see on your pages once the database is filled.

You can also login and logout. A nice feature is that when you login, you team page is automatically loaded. You can see this in action by logging in under my name (it's just dummy login info for now). Use my name wiegeabo, and the password testpass.

You can't make any changes on the site yet. The next thing I'm going to work on is access for administrators to populate the databases and make team changes.

Hi boys... ya miss me? Sorry again about being MIA the last couple of weeks. I've been moving and having personal tragedies. Other than that the good news is I'm getting a new agent tomorrow. Has Corp made it back from vacation yet? BTW... the site is really shaping up wiegeabo. Hopefully we'll be able to put some of Corp's artwork up there too. Maybe we can get Corp to work on our team name logos. Since lineups change all the time at least we'll have logo's that don't change. Maybe we should start thinking about official team colors too. Just a thought. :D

About 10-15 tons. Thing can lift 10-15 more tons than Colossus, and I believe the cutoff for regualr/uber is 75 tons. Colossus can lift 70-75 tons.

Colossus got @#$#@ up during the Mutant Massacre. Magneto healed his metal form, but he got stuck that way. He had to concentrate to turn into his human form. That's what he refers to int he battle with the Adversary. After they go through the Siege Perilous his powers straighten out again. His "natural" state is to be human, his armored state is when he activates his powers.

I've added a few more pics to the front of the website, and I want to thank our own league Hobbit for contributing some pics.

JH also had an idea about including headshots for our characters which I could add to the characters page. I thought about this before, and it's a great idea, but I'm a little worried about bandwidth and download times if there are a bunch of images on a page. But I think it's worth a shot. So if you have some cool character headshots you want to submit, send them (or their links) to me. My only requirement is that we keep the images small, about the size of our Hype avatars could work (50x50 pixels).

I finally got the website to the point where administrators can add characters, and update team and character information. Since JB and X maintain the Update thread, I've made them administrators.

This means that we'll be able to keep track of our teams and lineups on the site, rather than the Update thread (although X and JB will still have to make the changes). The next step is to get the site to the point that we can change our own lineups, and add/drop characters.

Once JB, X, and I get all the team lineups up to date, I'll PM everyone their temporary passwords. For now you can go to the site and check the lineups (note: you'll get an error message when looking at teams that haven't been updated).

It let's us put those characters on the site who aren't allowed, like Galactus. This way when someone tries to add a banned character, they'll see them on the character list, and that they aren't allowed.

Otherwise we'd constantly be asked if someone was too uber, or to add characters to the list that are too uber. It'll hopefully make life a little easier fo us administrators.

I've figured out the encryption problem I was having with the website. So now I've finally gotten it to the point where you can change your own user information (user name, password, team name) at will. So PM me, and I'll give you the current temporary username/password I've already assigned your team. Then you can login and change the password, and anything else you need. (Although you won't be able to change your lineups just yet. That and the character pages are the next tasks.)

The character page is also up, but it is unfinished, and quite buggy. You'll be able to see the complete list of characters in the database (not many right now), but not all of the filters work properly.

Now that you can start fooling around with the site, if you find any problems or bugs, send me a PM and I'll add them to my list of things to fix. (I already know the history and rules pages don't work. They're on their way, so don't worry. Just use the back button.)

I don't know about anyone else but when I look at the character listings, I get broken pictures that don't show up.

Hobbit, I used Photoshop to alter the banner you made; that's why I credit your work. The dark to light motif was something I had always pictured when the idea for illustrating the team names came up. I later added the smokey effect looking to jazz it up a bit. The effect and the mood is what the word 'Neverwhere' evokes to me.

Definitely. It justs takes the skill. Though personally I think Adobe Illustrator does better at those kinds of tasks.

Yep. As far as I can tell, Illustrator can do anything Photoshop can.

The main difference is that Illustrator is designed for complete creation on the computer ("penciling", "inking", "coloring") whereas Photoshop is more for adjusting/enhancing existing photos/images.

Hey JB, I think the DTL Update match-up schedule got kind of mixed up. Sadomasochists got renamed, but they still show up on the schedule, and Black's Storm accidently got renamed, I think.
