Why in her 20s? I think Emma Frost needs maturity. As gambo said, she has to be around Famke's age, to play her opposite.

As for Uma Thurman, after the superhero movie she played in, I doubt she will play in another. And Singer prefers relatively unknown actors anyway.

Bite your tongue! Kirsten, while she may not be Eric Durance in the "MJ lookalike" department, is very attractive in her own right. And Kate Bosworth doesn't look that bad... with her humongous forehead.

No people from the UK, or New Zealand, or Australia would be "perfect" unless they're demonstratably masterful at speaking with an American accent.

We already stupidly have Xavier and Magneto inexplicably British sounding we don't need any more bastardized characters because dumb critics and movie buffs conflate sounding British with being a better or smarter sounding actor.

The only actress who get trotted out as being "perfect" for Emma who is from the afformentioned foreign countries who's shown to be at all good at sounding American (or if you want Ameri-Canadian) is Nicole Kidman. However she doesn't look particularly like Emma and she's an A + lister which rules her out in any logical persons book.

You want to cast Sienna Miller for something? Cast her for Caucasian Psylocke. You want to cast a British dude for something? Cast him for Sinister. Because unless they're master character actors like Gary Oldman or Christian Bale the odds way heavily toward a director just telling them to forget about immitating the accent the character is supposed to have ala Bryan Singer with Xavier, Magneto, Pyro, Colossus, Storm in X-2, etc.

Silvstedt has a foreign accent, the closest thing to acting I've seen her do is be sprayed down with water wearing only a bottom and a thin open shirt around her back with her nipples blurred out on old episode of Wild ON!. She's also sort of gigantic for a chick. Uma would have been the ideal for the part.

Sarah Jessica Parker is too thin of face and form in order to play Emma Frost. That would be like saying pick Julia Stiles (also a bad choice). I agree that Sarah Jessica Parker is a good actress though, and wouldn't devour the budget. Nicole Kidman would look and sound the part bette though, since she is Australian. The accent would be very close to a British one. If Kidman sounds to expensive...why not get Kate Hudson?

I started reading X-Men in the early 70s. Magneto was always of stocky build, whereas McKellen is not. My point is that actors can carry the essence of a character without being an exact match for that character.

Yes, Emma should be attractive...but choosing some over-rated 'hot bimbo' is not a good choice for the X-Men. We need someone who can act first. Did you learn nothing from the casting of Jessica Alba?

The actress needed to play her would have to have a strong stage presence . . . someone on par with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen . . . and Weaver, unlike the vast majority of other actresses mentioned (Carrie Bradshaw?), maintains an untouchable stage presence (especially among women).

I can't picture anyone better to manipulate Janssen, while simultaneosly holding her own against the likes of Stewart and McKellen . . . not to mention that Magneto was once a member of the Hellfire Club which could have easily been played off of as a nod to the fans if Weaver had played her. Magneto being a part of the Hellfire club with a 20 year old nobody (who would have been what? 15 at the time?) would not have been believable at all.

So, let's see. All those previous choices have been involved in adventure/fantasy projects. Sarah Jessica Parker does not fall into this category. All are attractive women - yes, that's true, and I have no problem with it.

My issue is that the X-Men deserves quality acting, heavyweights where possible, people with presence. We have enough complaints about the casting of Halle Berry without making it worse by casting someone else because they are 'hot' or just because they look good. I repeat a question I've raised elsewhere: Have you learned nothing from the casting of Jessica Alba in F4?

Yes, anyone cast as Emma Frost needs to be sexually attractive, but they don't have to be - and in my view, shouldn't be - a teenage bimbo starlet with very little experience of heavyweight acting. Why pick the obvious 'hot chick' types? There must be many other capable actresses out there who have the guts and screen presence to carry the role.

Casting a bimbo into X3 would totally ruin it. I want to watch it and be blown away by the story, not distracted by lips inflated like tyres or tits that arrive in the room 5 minutes before the character. The X-Men has built a solid, serious reputation that has attracted Shakespearean actors like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen and other heavyweights like Brian Cox. We knew Rebecca and Famke were pretty good actresses too. They had the right 'strength' for the role. The last thing we want for X3 is for it to become some sort of Charlie's Angels tit-fest of helium-voiced bimbos.

That is not what X-Men is all about. But some of you seem blind to it, and determined to try to spoil it all.

Given Uma Thurman's atrocious roles in Batman and Avengers, I do hope the X-Men franchise steer clear of her. She is hammy and has very limited talent. Emma is from Boston, but she always speaks using English colloquialisms and poshes up her accent to distance herself from her family. I'm not saying she should be speaking Queen's English or something, just more ennunciated and less rolling her words.

What comes to the actual thread and poll I answered Maybe. Uma is beatiful and she can act but dunno is she the right one for the role of Emma.
