here on hype (and on many message boards), sometimes users form 'groups', which are largely arbitrary and just for fun (I see you're a member of Lost Souls, which is another one). In this case, Shadaloo is the longest lasting group on Hype, started by the poster E. Bison in early '04 based on the fictional organization from the video game Street Fighter

yup, there're two different editions of Invincible #1. The original, which is worth $50 and upwards right now (in perfect shape) and the reprint, which has the Larry's Comics stamp, which is worth $15, topswell it looks like that 1.50 i spent on the first ish wasn't that much seeing as people now are spending 50 bucks for it now.

I don't think so. Back when Nolan first revealed his true nature, he specificly stated that his race's blood was so pure, any offspring they have with other races are almost 100% them anyway (the name of their race is escaping me...) that's why he was able to concieve with the bug people and still have a human looking kid

I had a lot of questions about this. I would think there must've been some sort of genetic adaptaton to allow for what would have to be an accelerated gestation. (Nine months and Andressa would be toast) Come to think of it, with the Viltumite life span as long as it is, Mark's mom's nine months was probably greatly abreviated when compared to the Viltrumite norm.

... don't even want to imagine being preggers for hundreds of years.

On another related tack, the upcoming covers make me wonder about the fate of this child.

I was flipping through my hardcover again and picked up on a sight gag I'd missed before. In issue 6, when Mark and William take a day trip to Upstate U to check out the campus, William looks around at the female population and wonders aloud why "...none of the high school girls are this hot..". Anybody else notice that every single girl in that panel comes directly from prior Reginald Vel Johnson HS hallway scenes? Heh!

Lots of nifty stuff to be found in re-reading. :)

Try Midtown Comics. (Whoever recommended them to me, thanks!) I needed issue #14 and they had a great selection of back issues at regular price. Shipping wasn't cheap, though it might not be too bad with multiple issues.

would be a good idea though, for weeks when you may not be able to get their. also, most stores offer some sort of discount or other benefit to their subscribers you may want to look into. Mine offers 10% off all comics and new tradepaperbacks, plus 10% off anything ordered from previews, and 20% off supplies. But stores differ

well the only reason i don't (or didn't) get one was i would be between jobs and so i couldn't pay for the comics.

amazing, I love how the comics feel more like an experience than just a comic, it's one of the best monthly buys witht he awesome letters page, back-ups, and extra art. I love Kirkman for continuing to write this book.

Lazarus440

Well, it begs the question, does UPS ship on Thanksgiving? Were my comics still on a plane, or a truck? Or did it just sit in the hub because nobody was there to sort it, and send it to it's destination? I figure I might get it on Tuesday, but, I've been wrong before.

Elijya

agreed. You should get the first hardcover. Yes, get the hardcover! it's actually cheaper than the softcovers that collect the same issues if you buy them from the right source, plus you get a whole ton of extras. Buy from www.dreamlandcomics.com - they offer 30% off all of their trades, and you get FREE shipping on trades if you spend $30

let's see, you've got a pretty good pull list, xwolverine. If you want my suggestions, I say take alook at spawn and all the batman, superman, spider-man, and x-men titles you're buying. Alot of people fall into the trap of buying all those family titles because they really really like the characters, but they don't take a close look to see how truly bad the stories are sometimes. I remember when I was a teenager, I had 100 issue runs of x-men, uncanny x-men, x-man, cable, x-force, x-factor, generation x, and wolverine. Then one day I just realized how much I hated the way those books had been being written for the past few years. I loved the characters, but who cares if they're in bad stories? And I'd just been buying them out of habit. When I realized how much money I'd wasted on these years of stories that I didn't care for in the least, I just dropped all the x-books flat out. Take alook at what you buy, and see if you really like the book itself and not just the lead characters

another good trick: when you get home from the comics shop every time you go, put the books in the order you want to read them. Put the one's you're REALLY looking forward to at the back, so save the best for last, and the books you're not so looking forward to at the front. Read them in this order and DON'T CHEAT! You'll find after a little while of using this technique, you start to actually STRUGGLE to get through the first few books in your pile in order to get to the good ones at the back. This is a big hint that you're probably not enjoying those titles in the front as much as you thought you were, and you should probbaly drop them.

His Cap stuff was ok. Good to see Cap get back to the superhero aspect of his character after all that time of polotics and terrorists. (And lets not forget Chuck Austin's Ice arc.)

He's also a Superman analogue, just like Omni-Man. at least as far as the basic power set of strength and flight. Immortal has a very different origin, though, at least so far as we've seen. His origin has more in common with Uncle Sam.

That's what I thought but softcover 6 is issues 25-30.

I just thought it was an error as the first HC collected 3 trades.

Invincible is about the only way I will read a new superhero comic now. If they aren't characters I haven't grown up with and therefor will always love, I don't have the patience to get through the tedious storylines and powers and costumes. Invincible is almost the perfect anti-superhero comic, with a character that embraces his new role but lives in a world with very real consequences. Read the last arch to see how different he is from say "Superman" or "Spider-man". His world is more real somehow, just as long as dead characters never resurface, I'll be fine. Plus, I love the idea of a world of superheroes within one book. It would be terrible if there was a ROBOT comic or and ATOM EVE book at some point. At that point, the Invincible story would lose some of its footing.

yeah, but i'm a schtickler for collecting, while it would be nice for my wallet, i wouldn't like to see all those trades, then followed up by the hardcover right next to them.

yeah, you've already started with the trades, so you might as well keep buying them.

Or you could just buy up to where you can in trades, then collect the individuals.

i'm pretty sure i'll just stick to the trades, my closest shop is an hours drive away, so that makes it hard to keep up on monthly issues

I hope there will eventually be a big dramatic war between Invincible, Omni-man, the heroes or Earth and the alliance vs. the Viltrumites.

I'm not looking forward to it all that much, myself. To me, the best things about Invincible is it's long, overlapping storylines and its awesome art. Neither of those things can really translate to a live action film.

Does anyone know which movie studio purchased the rights to it?

Agreed, in a couple other threads a few members and myself were talking about live action comic book adaptations and a few of us agreed that CGI would work better for a lot of them.

Keeping it more consistent throughout the movie and not having to mix CGI with live action actors and settings to create the special effect and still have your suspension of disbelief attatched.

every great comicbook has that, spider-man comics has that[stan lee practically invented that], and it translated well into movies. So does batman,superman,X-men etc.

Yes, but that's also part of his point ( I think) comic book movie adaptaions seem to condense so many story/plot lines into a few movies that a lot it left out, skipped, or changed into something entirely different.

thats why its called an adaption. Comic book movies have to adapt and translate a character to the big screen. If you want the whole story and all the details, just read the comic book.:yay:

I think an invicible movie could be pretty cool. Just do the first 3 vols can cut out some small details. Sadly I don't think public reaction would be that great. With the whole invincible dad thing.

i just don't want to see a movie that is under 2 hours, now you don't need to throw in every one that has been in the comics and the kitchen sink in, but i do think that the first three vol. would work well as the first movie.

an adaptation is in developement, but keep in mind virtually EVERY comic is in some stage of developement. The line from Jay and Silent Bob is true: after X-Men hit, movie studios began buying up the rights to virtually every comic property out there. But that doesn't mean we're guaranteed to ever actually see something come of all of them. Sometimes they buy the rights and never do anything with it. Sometimes they'll get a script working, but it either sucks or whoever is in charge loses interest or doesn't think it will work, and it gets left by the wayside.

I want to say I've heard something like 10,000 screenplays are developed in LA every year, and yet only some 400 studio films are released annually

Invincible: The Animated Series

That's what I would have them do.
