Aloha,
Thank you for the kind words. You wouldn't beleive the disk space that it takes to put up these comics. Right now I have af#15 go to Limited Series p7, as well as #122,1-76 and the first 23 annuals up. Every six months I will take down 25 or more comics and put up the next 25 or so within volume one. My goal is to put up the entire volume one of Amazing Spider-Man. I also have volume one of Spectacular Spider-Man including Annuals. With feedback from the readers, I will decide which comics to post. While Marvel has put Ultimate Spider-Man up on the web, to my knowledge no one has Amazing Spider-Man volume one up. To me Amazing is the Bible. Enjoy and tell a friend.

Aloha,
Thanks for the concern. As long as I am giving full credit to the publisher I'm fine. There are several sites that have the covers of Spidey up. Be it covers or content within the covers, it's all good. For all you students doing term papers, ALWAYS quote your sources. Please enjoy the comics and save up your money to see the movie AT LEAST 3 times-twice the first week and once the second.

so, theoretically speaking if a site was to go up with ~30gb of comics, aslong as you give credit to the publisher its ok?

aloha,
My total site has 1.2 gig of disk space, the comics take up about 800 mgs.Go to my Links page and check out the various Spider-Man sites. You'll notice down at the bottom of most of them that they will tell you that " Spider-Man and all other characters are owned by Marvel or they will tell you to go to the Marvel web site. Ultimately( no pun intended:D ) Every fan site that promotes Spider-Man is advertising for Marvel FOR FREE. There are things that you can't do. For example, my middle name is Spiderman. Marvel owns the name Spider-Man. Hulk Hogan never uses the term The Hulk Hogan just Hulk ,Marvel owns The Hulk but Hulk is a word that is part of public domain. Unless you do something really foul under the name of a Marvel character they won't mind, but you still need to give full acknowledgement to them.Another good example is the Smiley's on this site. All of the super hero smileys are copyrighted to either Marvel or DC, yet Superhero Hype uses them as a regular part of their web site.ALWAYS quote your sources, ALWAYS give complete credit where it is due. Usually if you do that , the only thing negative that will happen is you will be asked to take it down. Now if they ask you to take it down and you don't , then you're looking for trouble.

Aloha,
As a fan of Spider-Man, I take the position that Amazing Spider-Man volume One, is the CENTER OF THE SPIDER-MAN UNIVERSE.My first goal is to put up the entire volume One of Amazing Spider-Man, including most annuals. The Annuals take up the most disk space so I've put them up first. I can get two comics for every one annual up on my site. After Amazing volume One, I have the complete PPSpectacular Spider-Man as well as some volume two of Amazing (all JMS).If you want to say you "KNOW" Spider-Man, you must be familiar with these volumes.Hopefully some other fans will be inspired to put up other titles on their web sites.

btw-If you can't wait every six months for me to post a new series of comics, pm me regarding both Amazing and Spectacular.

Thats cool. I was just wondering because I've read all the ASM and most of the Spectaculars but I've never picked up any of the other smaller titles. And once again, what you are doing is really cool. Its not easy to get you're hands on the older titles, but this makes it possible. Thank you

Donald Thomas, your site is AMAZING! Thanks so much for your time in putting all of those comics up to share. I don't have a comic store around and my parents are hesitant about online ordering, but I've always wanted to read some of the older Spider-Man books. Thanks for providing me with a way to! I've enjoyed them so much that I'm just going to have to get myself a subscription to the newer ones.

Please continue to let me know if you are having problems with ANY of the comics coming up for you. btw. Most people report very little download time for these comics, one person with a 56K modem reports 30 minutes per comic. What's been your time?

My time is awesome. It depends on the file size though. If its from 3-5 mb, it takes around 20 seconds per comic. Great job Donald! Your dream lived has become a dream come true to me as well. 1 question, when you update the page and make 25 or so more titles available, will you make others unavailable?

Aloha,
Glad to hear that people are able to get to the comics so quick. Thirty minutes to open one comic book would drive me up the wall(no pun intended:) .Two things I'd like to announce.
One-I will be seperating the web site so that Spider-Man is all to himself. As soon as I do I will announce it here. This move should give me more disk space to put up more comics by the end of June. Second-if you've read any of the comics on my site PLEASE sign my guest book-it's lonely out here in cyber library space.
Much thanks for your feedback and please keep it coming.

hey donald, i think what you are doing is great. when i was 9 i discovered a closet full of old comic books in my grandmother's basement so i had the privalage of reading comics from the 70's on, however there were many missing comics so i always read them in gaps. To compensate I bought graphic novels but they too are not complete. Being a big spiderman fan i bought volumes 1-3 which has amazing fantasy 15 on to amazing spiderman 30. I thought I was screwed until now that I've found your site. So thanks again. I havn't been able to access any of them yet. I know you said that your site is down for the week, but i'm not sure if its that reason or I'm just missing the link to them. Anyway, thanks for doing this public service lol.

Any of them I click on, I get the 404 error. I can't click on #39 because it doesn't have a link, and the cover of #41 is missing. Can anyone else get to #26-#50?

I've gone to several computers and 1-50 are working fine. Do you have Adobe Acrobat 5.0? To all who are having ANY problems, rather thatn write in this thread, please PM me. I will work with you on the situation. First download Adobe Acobat 5.0, then reboot your system and refresh the comics page. That should clear up most problems. Enjoy.

Sorry about that. The CDisplay is a fairly new piece of software that really works great. But I'm having some challeges using it on my site. It's nice to see the Spectaculars because they are mentioned in the Amazing issues, but I don't think I've read all the Marvel Team-Ups. I started collecting them on issue #51 and had odd issues before then. I probably never read about 25 of the first 50. Aloha,
As the world of Cyber comic book reading becomes more and more a reality, I beleive we are going to go through somehthing similar to the video tape and DVD format wars. Right now we have Adobe Acrobat Reader,Windows Picture and fax veiwer, CDisplay and DjVu.Adobe works well, if you configure it to open the pages side by side like a comic book. Windows also does a good job. I'm leaning towards CDisplay as far as basic ease of use and specific use of comic book reading.I have the Marvel Comic Library and if that's an example of DjVu then it's also very similar to what can be done with Adobe.I'm going to start putting more CDisplay comics in the library so that I can get a good discussion going among the readers regarding what they consider to be the best format. We are really on the ground floor of something here with comics on computer.

Aloha,
I know that some have had a problem with CDisplay even though it is a very good format for reading comics.
Try this-click on comic-download comic to your desktop-open your CDisplay application-right click on CDisplay-load comic from your desktop-I've had to click on every page with the Ctrl key depressed so that they all are included-then open.
This should help a lot. Please email me and let me know.

This is one of the reasons why I'm putting mostly Adobe files up. With Adobe no problems what so ever. CDisplay is very good to read comics but there are some glitches in the downloading of them in this format. Some get it on their computer without a hitch, other's like you have nightmares with it.Hang in there, after Oct most files witll be Adobe.

Please go to the link that I provided in this thread or on my site and talk to the experts regarding CDisplay. Very sorry you are having so much trouble with this thing. Aloha,
I would like to take this time to give a very big MAHALO(thank you ) to Hypester ph27home- this is the person who has made sense out of the CDisplay files for both you and me.
Before I put Spider-Man Blue back up please go to my site and follw these instructions regarding MK Spider-Man #1
okay at the moment i can right click then choose save as and it tries to save it as Marvel Knights Spider-Man 001.cbr.htm
so i just delete the .htm part of the file name and start it downloading. or you can download the file then delete that part of the file name after. so if you give people those instruction they'll be fine.
This advice worked for me and should be the solution to the CDisplay problem. All of Amazing and PP Spectacular will be in Adobe but as I get into the crossover Age of Marvel, I will need to put up Web and Adjectiveless which I have in CDisplay only suxh as MAXIMUM CARNAGE

Aloha,
I greatly appreciate your 2 cents and please don't ever stop. It was my original intention to only put up Amazing Spider-Man v 1. The demand became too great for other titles and I responded. While Spectacular ended last month with 99, I have continued to go in sequence with 100-117. It is my goal for next year to get Spectacular,Web and Adjectiveless in synch with Amazing. So I may have to slow down on Amazing to help everyone else catch up.
Regarding 131-132-You are correct-I right clicked on the files(normally you don't have to do that) and then they downloaded and are not corrupted and open up.As far as Story arcs. All story arcs are posted. Please see PP Spectacular Spider-Man and you will see Jean DeWolf is in Spectacular 107-110. I also looked into Amazing 293 and 294, they also need to be right clicked and saved and they also open up.Normally you just have to click on an Adobe file and it opens not sure why all of a sudden these Adobe files need to be right clicked.
And I agree with dangerous'- If you go to my links page under Comic Books you will see that I recommend spiderfan as well as Samruby and several other sites that will give you the details of these stroy arcs.
Currently because of the controversy surrounding Sins Pasts- I have put back up Amazing #91-122. This way fans can have a better idea as to why there is such reaction to certain aspects of this arc.PLEASE SIGN MY GUEST BOOK.
Happy holidays and happy reading.

I was able to grab SSM 131 & 132 by right-clicking. When I try the Amazings by right-clicking, I get the following message: "Internet Explorer cannot download asm293.pdf from www.donaldspidermanthomas.com. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later." Would it be possible to post links to Amazing 293 and 294? Please?

Hey Donald,
Remember all the link problems I've been having. Problem solved. The problem was, I had the following page bookmarked:

but if you start from the main page and click the link, you now get:
http://www.donaldspidermanthomas.com/collection.shtml
Now, all the links are working. Thanks for all your help in the past.

I downloaded Parallel Lives last night. I had never read this before and had been wanting to for a long time. Alex Saviuk's art is nice; I've missed it since he did Web of Spider-Man. His MJ is beautiful and very reminiscent of Jazzy John. Thanks, Donald!

You are very welcomed.I know people love Gwen, but this story tells how and why Peter and MJ are together as well as the Parallels within their lives that brought them together.

Aloha,
In the old days of the Merry Marvel Marching Society and when Stan Lee used to write the Bullpen, the No Prize was used as a way of giving sharp eyed readers a gift for finding errors or guessing who the villian was etc.So a 24K No Prize is just a way of trying to bring back the Good old days of Marvel-WHEN CONTINUITY MEANT SOMETHING

Man, I tell ya... It's a good thing we've got geezers like you around here to show my own rotten generation what Spider-Man is really about. Since the Marvel Age is long gone (hell, I never got to see it), we need Spider-Man historians. My thanks to you, again, for spreading the good word to them what need it.

If an Adobe file fails to open normally, try RIGHT clicking it and save it to your computer. Right clicking #132 will work.
Thanks for letting me know
