I thought C.S Lewis was an ashiest.

And not to get nit-picky,but Eowyn killed the witch-king.:o

C.S. Lewis? An atheist? The guy who wrote a six-part "The Adventures of Jesus Lion"? And like, a hundred pieces on Christian philosophy and morality? He's the go-to guy on Christian literature!

But I will cede the floor on Eowyn. I don't think I've ever watched all three extended editions in one sitting...

I've always wanted to see an apocalypse novel where the Anti-Christ is a powerful religious leader like Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell. It seems to me that the biggest threat to any religion is the extremist actions of it's fundamentalists.

Forget that, I want an apocalypse novel where the Anti-Christ is Paris Hilton. Now THAT would be terrifying!

Anyway, here's more Bill O'Reilly/Jon Stewart fun:

O'Reilly calls Stewart a pinhead and talks about his boycott of France. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXKInBsBWac)

O'Reilly gets verbally *****-slapped by Stewart on his own show. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFmVobiv8BU)

He was a very devoit christian. Tolkein was an athiest (or at least an agnostic), but then Lewis got him into religion.

While I'm not doing that, I'm begining to work on ideas for a TV show where the anti-christ decides that he doesn't want to destroy the world, and instead become's Jesus' roommate and best friend.

I did some wikiresearch, and it was the other way around.

Influenced by arguments with his Oxford colleague and Roman Catholic friend J. R. R. Tolkien, and by G.K. Chesterton's book, The Everlasting Man, he slowly rediscovered Christianity.

So we were both right.Well, you more than me.

Anyway, I'd just want it on HBO because, since HBO is part of an extra payment package, the religious right wouldn't be able to influence it in the same way. If I ever did get my idea on TV, I wouldn't want it ending up like the "Book of Daniel" or "God, The Devil, and Bob."

While I'm not doing that, I'm begining to work on ideas for a TV show where the anti-christ decides that he doesn't want to destroy the world, and instead become's Jesus' roommate and best friend.

Hey. I was planning to write a sitcom called "God's House", wherein, Heaven was being cleansed and God and Jesus had to move to the suburbs of California. The joke would be like they'd look exactly like their "classic" interpretations. Robes and all. I think that sounds like it would be an awesome episode of the show.:D

Other epsiodes would be, of course, Jesus has to get a job. God enters a surfing contest. They try to pick up chicks, much to the displeasure of Mary Magdelene. And of course the awkward holidays where they have to meet up with Mary and Joseph.

The Question
08-05-2006, 05:08 PM
My concept has God kicking Jesus out of heaven because she (God apears as a female in the series, and that brings up some philisophical points on the nature of god later on) feels that Jesus has been out of touch with the world for too long. Jesus (who goes by Joshua, or Josh, which is the actual english translatioon of his name) goes to New York, and becomes roomates with Damien, who is the Anti-Christ (although neither of them realize who the other is). Eventually, they get kicked out of their apartment, and move in with The Devil in hell.

Phoney Bone
08-05-2006, 05:13 PM
Cool. Intersting I wasn't the only person to have this idea. I'm also totally for Buhdda being the crazy next-door-neighbor. I think I'll add that to my storyline. Maybe he moves in the second season.

The Question
08-05-2006, 05:17 PM
In mine, all of their neighbors in hell are mythological death gods. Hades, Kali, and so on. Basically, Hell is a time share, and The devil and all the other death gods take turns running it.

Phoney Bone

It would be a comedy, but it would also delve into philosophy a bit, and there would be some dramatic parts aswell.

There just have to be scenes where Jesus/Joshua gets ticked of at jehova's witnesses who won't stop knocking on the door.

Jesus: "Why can't they be private, like those wiccans."

There would be a scene where The Devil takes the gang to a fundamentalist christian thing. He starts messing with the pastor, who says "Christ will protect me from your evil!" Josh then responds "Don't drag me into this."

Can the other Death Gods not get along. Anubis is too solemn, Hades holds grudges, and Kali is just plain weird? just a suggestion... I just reallly like your idea.

The Question
08-05-2006, 10:03 PM
Well, Hades gets along fine with people, but Kali is a complete homicidal maniac. If you knew anything about the rituals her followers practiced, you'd know why. Always going on about how back in the day, she was adored by millions who willfully slaughtered innocent men women and children in her name and engaged in orgies in their blood. She's kind of like the crazy cat lady, except instead of cats it's murder. Freaks everyone out.

Hey Question, I have a question for you. Is it true that Neil Gaiman ownes the rights to the Sandman characters that he created? I read that somewhere and I don't know if it's true. Because if it is, your title should be "Gaiman's Death".

The Question
08-15-2006, 08:33 PM
Yes, he does own the rights to the characters, but:

A: Sandman takes place in the DCU, so even though Gaiman does own the characters, she is "DC's Death" in a continuity sense.

B: I don't think Gaiman would have fit in my title.

Hey,the guy who voices Zim is in that show. Which reminds me,there's only one thing the thread is missing...

ZIIIIIIM!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ_nE5PmGi8&mode=related&search=)

Do you mean Tino? If so, Tino's voiced by Jason Marsden. Zim is voiced by Richard Horvitz.

Sorry,my mind must have been so eager to post Invader Zim that it manipulated Marsden's voice to sound like Horvitz. My mind hates me.

They do sound alike. Also, I'm fairly sure they digitally alter and speed up Marsden's voice so he sounds younger, giving it a Horvitz-like quality.

The Question

Maybe. Or maybe he's just good at doing high pitched voices.

Write a line for Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie (http://www.superherohype.com/news/transformersnews.php?id=4657)

My guess for the top four entries:

1."I want these mutha****in' Decepticons off this mutha****in' planet!"

2."I'm Optimus Prime,*****!"

3."What,are you dense? Are you retarded of something?Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the Goddamn Optimus Prime!"
