What better way to begin the Venom Scan-Fest than with where it all began. That's right folks, the 1st comic I will be posting for you all to read is 'Amazing Spider-Man #300'. - Venom's 1st full appearance. :venom:

I've always thought of his art as the best in the business. I wish he would have gotten a hold of one of the Venom miniseries. They got some real jerk-offs to draw some of those. I'd say about half of those are ***** art wise. Some of them I couldn't even bring myself to buy the whole series because the art was so horrific. McFarlane & Bagley have always been my favorites. Amazing Spiderman 374 & 375 were the first comics I ever bought. They are works of art. I've studied every comic I could get my hands on by those 2. Magnificent artwork.

It's so great to see Venom in his infancy. The jagged teeth haven't emerged...the teeth kind of make him look like a chipmunk. And instead of the usual whipping tendrils around Eddie's face as he becomes Venom, you just see a shadowing rising over his face. Classic. I sometimes wish the clean organized look was back, instead of the crazed mess that you sometimes see in today's comics. Then again, I wouldn't trade that whipping tongue for anything in the world.

Consumption is by Devil's Own Resin, and he's been out of production for a long time now. Over a year, I think. He was only sold by them, he wasn't for sale through multiple retailers. They handle all their kits that way - no middlemen.

Yeah, I really, really like the way Venom looked with normal teeth. Seemed a lot more sinister to me - I mean, you can tell he's evil and dangerous, even without throwing it at your face with a jagged smile.

Random commment: I like how the older comics had your simple, basic colors. There weren't fifty million different layers of color on people's skin or 'juicy' colors with gradiations on everything in the panel like there are today.

Personally, I agree with what Sym has said about the 'undies' iddue in the past & that no undies is better (that sounds bad!)
The symbiote can replicate any type of clothing so the wearer/host has no need for real, cloth clothing. So no undies makes more sense in that respect.

Way back in the Secret Wars, Spidey found a new costume(Venom's suit incase you didn't guess) it made him stronger, gave him organic webbing, wasn't harmed by bullets etc.

So, he took the suit back to earth. It wasn't long until he found out the suit was actually alive, so he had to get it off with. With the help of Mr Fantastic, he got rid of it.

Later, he treid to kill suit using church bells. The suit, seeking a new host, choose Eddie Brock,long time Spider-man hater. Meanwhile, Black Cat decided Spidey's black suit was better than his original, so she made him a bunch of other black suits.

Issue 300, as you've just seen Spider-man is wearing on of these suits when Venom attacks. So there you have it.


And yes, you figure it out as you go along though your still so damn confused when the series ends in 15 issues time ;)

Well there was Venom and there was "the clone". Fantastic Four caught Venom, but a piece of the tongue was left behind. A mysterious group took the tongue, did a clone from Venom with some added features, and created the Venom Clone that took hosts but instead of staying on them, killed them by draining their life. It was more sadistic than Venom. Not sure about this universe of Venom, but in the original canon the symbiote itself stands for justice and innocence, but Brocks psycho mind corrupts the symbiote. In this case, the symbiote itself is bent on killing.

In the end, the Original Symbiote (not sure if it is Venom or if its just the Symbiote) mixes with the clone and now is even more powerful than ever.

Yup. Im thinking of having the green lantern ring incorporated in it, and whenever he uses it, the Super Venom symbol glows green and the symbiote creates the GL mask on his eyes. Is that a bit over the top? Should I just keep him the way he is?

HORRIBLE continuity errors. led people to people toxin would not be part of regular continuity. but that isnt the case. his origin has flaws. but the tory is fun. ending just sucked

Is it worth reading in your opinion? I wasn't really pleased with this series. The art was one of the best that I have seen, but they kind of made the symbiote look evil. This is 616 is it not?

Yeah its 616, I got the 1st few issues of Toxin but got bored of it and didnt have enough money to keep getting it. Apparently though it got better after I dropped it so it might be worth getting the TPB when it comes out.
