Todd McFarlane's Venom is my all time favorite rendition of Venom. I loved McFarlane's run on ASM and SM. I loved his run as well. And the way Macfarlane drew Venom...it was just so perfect. I've been reading the comics more since the movie came out and my appreciation of the comics has grown by leaps.

Romita Jr.'s art is always awesome, though his Batman is a bit iffy. He does one of the best Joker renditions I've seen. Some of the other pics have some weird dialogue, though...I've heard the GD Batman line, but the others are sort of kindred.

I agree, original Venom by McFarlane is the best, and Steve Ditko's Spidey is my favorite and is the original, I seem to like the original's... :D

I too, enjoyed all the episode's he was in, though he wasn't in it alot, the episode's he was in were great one's, it was definatley the best animated interpretation of the character to this day, because of their ability of keeping the design close to the comic's, and put the best Venom design's in the comic's (Bagley, and McFarlane) into one.:up:

The uneven teeth and the amount of green slime over did it. I think alot of us fans fee lthat way as well. Erik Larsens Venom wasn't horrible though. I'm not sure if he's one of my favorits though.

JRJR's Venom...remember that issue of PPSM where Venom was killing off the people on his "To Do" list and he ate the Carnage symbiote? Best version of JRJR's Venom. Every other issue containing JRJR's Venom...why does his limbs and fingers look like they belonged to Mr. Fantastic?

I like the physique of Bagley's but Romita Jr.'s just has a very Venom-like look to me. The toned-down yet sharp teeth, the bulky but not overly-done physique...everything about it is awesome. Except for the fingers and the emblem, but that can be forgiven. I'm just glad to see the V-Man giving Electro a beatdown. Now if only there was a Mysterio beatdown...I own the beginning issue to this where he starts his To Do list with Jameson, but I never got to buy the rest.

The movie Spidey VS. Venom is one of the best artist rendition's of the movie's design! The Toxin piece is an amazing one too!:up:

I takes some liberties with the look, but I'm not complaining when things get improved.

I have to say, though, it's a shame that I never brought more Bagley-drawn issues of Lethal Protector. His art was simply superb. A great replacement for McFarlane in my book. Only negative was the drool...never was a fan of the green saliva.

Hmm...I never knew that. I just bought the 3rd when I was a kid and assumed he had a longer run on Lethal Protector...I got used to the possibility that it was just my luck that I kept on getting issues where the art bordered from mediocre to horrendous (anyone remember the Venom/ Juggernaut showdown?).

Look at the art to "Along Came A Spider", "Tooth & Claw", and 99% of the Venom Tsunami run. Artwise, those are the worst Venom comics ever.

Writing wise, you got "Along Came A Spider", "Tooth & Claw", "License to Kill", and "Signs of the Boss"...and the entire Venom Tsunami run.

Was the Tsunami run the Venom series where Way wrote for it? If so, that was one of the worse things I've ever read. I opened that '03 arc and just stood for a bit taking in how horrible it was.

Spidey wouldn't have survived without his wit. In ASM Issue's #'s 332 and 333 are great as well, (I own them.) I loved how Eddie Brock came running down the park dressed as a police officer on a horse. It was funny and cool at the same time. :up::sym:

Greg Luzniak

is one of the best artists to ever draw Venom, as an artist he's pretty bad. But his Venom is outstanding, out of all the comics Venom had in the 90's his Venom was the most noteworthy, In my opinion his Venom had the best style at the time and just was eye catching.

Lethal Protector was supposed to ONLY be a 4 parter, written by Michelinie and pencilled by Bagley. I've been told that parts 4 & 5 were not apart of the original design (those were the issues that included the 5 symbiotes and the Life Foundation) and part six (which would have been part 4) was changed around a bit. Bagley was already the current ongoing artist for Amazing Spider-Man (in other words, ASM got more priority than any other limited series), so he was only going to miss working on 4 ASM issues to work on Lethal Protector (its never good to have the current all-star artist on a major book leave that book for too long). When Marvel's editor at the time demanded/asked for an extended 6-parter (instead of the four parter)...now, here's MY guess, everything I've said so far is fact, this part is MY guess...Bagley only did haf of the limited series because, as I said, he was the current ongoing ASM artists and couldn't do all 6 Venom comics thus leaving ASM for six months. He couldn't leave ASM for 6 months to work on Venom, I can't stress that enough. So he did 3 Venom issues, returned to ASM, and Ron Lim did the other three. It makes sense since while Bagley was doing Lethal Protector parts 2 & 3, an artist named Jeff Johnson filled in on the ASM issues that were worked on while Bagley did those Venom issues (since Bagley couldn't do those ASM in favor for Venom, Jeff did them instead). Its common for writers to be able to handle multiple projects while artists usually can't and/or don't. How on earth did Bagley draw both Lethal Protector 1 and ASM 375 (they came out in the same months), even I don't know.

To be honest, there's no telling as of now what that was inside Brock. Was it the symbiote (or trace remains of it growing inside him)? Was it psychosis? The writer left that unanswered to tease us, hopefully so another writer will come in and do with that what he will.
