Don't worry about Venom's size on that MASM cover. The Venom on the cover won't be the one inside book, trust me. If you notice, the socil. it says that the interior art is by Cory Hamsher and that's not his art on the cover. He's worked on MASM before, an issue with Venom even. His Venom is smaller than the one on the cover but still bigger and more muscular than Spidey.

I also have seen covers where the characters are drawn a little different, but on the inside they are different as well. :up:

I really don't remember. Its from a Spider-Man title, probably an annual, since the "1st Kill" back-ups were a 4-parter from 4 different Spider-Man annuals (ASM, Spectacular, Web, and a fourth one, probably Spider-Man though I doubt it).

As for that artwork featuring Venom one page back [the cover art], discretion demands that I purge such ugliness from my mind's eye. never to be thought on again.
Remember that Mark Miller 12-parter "Scorpem" thing a few years back, the story was crap but Dodson was penciling....? And as far as build went, we had a pretty decent looking Venom, why does Venom get all the crap artists?
[yeah the mask sucked, but the rest of him looked great]...

Well, originally I was actually going to post scans of the entire comic books involving Venom's 1988 and 1990s arcs in Amazing Spider-Man, page for page. The mods aren't going to go for that though. Posting comics in their entirety.
What I'll do is just except that I can upload some pages and that's that. Cover art plus 3 random pages. Oh, and I'm also done with posting entire back-up stories, just in case.

I don't know. He comes to the Hype once or twice a month then vanishes. Even less often will he stop by here.

Amazing Spider-Man 300 was the 1st ever confrontation between Spider-Man and Venom. Spider-Man once wore an alien costume that tried to bond with him permenantly. That costume, feuled with hatred for the wall-crawler, has found bitter and depressed ex-journalist Eddie Brock, whose personal downfalls and life trials he blames on Spider-Man. The fight between these two is incredible, as far as first go-arounds go. Personally, I find their second bout to be much better (and yes I will be posting sample pages of the Venom's 2nd arc in the up-coming days).

Venom makes his return in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man 315-317, and he's not very happy with Spider-Man's continued exsistence. Escaping from the superprison Vault, wiping the flow with the Black Cat, stalking Mary Jane; and this is just the warm-up before the big showdown! As much as I loved their 1st fight, this arc blows ASM 300 out of the water in every way!

I too think he deserved more screentime;
- I was happy with what we got, but a little more wouldn't have hurt.
- He deserved more then five seconds of screen-time, only then to get blown up.
- The fight scenes should've been a little longer, also it would've been nice to include some of the scenes which were in the novel...and it would've been great to see the original Sandman and Venom scene at the park.
Ah who am I kidding, whats done is done, what's said is said, no point in brooding on this subject anymore.

Just to let you guys know, I'm writing a Venom story. It's called "rebirth of poison". It is about the original Venom returning to the Comic's. I worked on it some more today, and It's going to be in 4 parts. I'm currently on part 2, so I will most likley post part 1 tonight or tommorow.

Here is part 1 of "rebirth of poison"
"rebirth of poison"
part 1
Hospitals are filled with ill and dieing people. Most of them were ordinary people getting sick from diseases, or going into comas, but not Eddie Brock.
We see Eddie Brock on a hospital bed sleeping.
dreaming of Brock's past from losing his job and fighting Spider-Man.
Brock moving in his sleep until...
Eddie: "Ahh!", says Eddie as he sits up immediatley.
Eddie is sweating perfusley and breathing heavy.
He tries to go back to sleep.
*thump!*
Eddie: "who's there!?" says Eddie, wide eyed.
Symbiote: "It's just me Ed-die....." says a voice coming from the darkness in a darkened room.
Eddie looking around...
Eddie: "w-who are you!?" says Eddie in a confused yet scared voice.
Symbiote: "Don't you remember Brock? I am your better half!"
Eddie: "I don't understand! Just leave me alone!"
A figure comes out of the darkness, only lighted by the moon light outside.
Eddie: "N-no! n-no, it can't be you! It..can't be true." says Eddie looking like he has just seen a ghost.
Symbiote: "Oh, but it is true, Ed-die. This is all real!"
Eddie: "stay away! Please! H-help, somebody help!"
the Symbiote looks into Brocks frightened eyes and Brock suddenly passes out.
three doctors charge in to see what is happening with Eddie. WHen they go in, the hospital bed is empty and the window is open.
2 hours later...
Eddie Brock wakes up and looks around.
Eddie: "W-where am I? what am I doing here?"
Symbiote: "This, Ed-die, is where we first met."
Brock looks right where he did yers ago when the Symbiote seeped down onto him.
Symbiote: "Our hatred for Spider-Man bonded here, Ed-die. He didn't want the power, he was unlike you, Ed-die. Too dumb to realise how being invincible feels."
Eddie: "He saved my wife from dieing...I'm thankful for that."
Symbiote: "awwwww...isn't that cute. Don't kid yourself Brock! Think about what he caused in the past. He made you lose your job as a journalist and made you look like a fool. We both know your not a fool Ed-die, which is why I'm giving you a special offer."
Brock sits up onto his knees slowly...
Eddie: "W-what offer?"
Symbiote: "a chance to become invincible once again! Don't you want it Brock? The greatest power that you could ever have? We could be one again Brock...and destroy Spider-Man!"
Eddie: "No! I won't do it!"
Symbiote: "why not? Make Spider-Man fear us once again! You've been in a hospital for a while Brock. Weak, defensless, helpless. Come on Brock..."
Eddie stares with no emotion. Suddenly, he drops to his knees. The Symbiote then moves slowly towards Brock and for the first time in quite a couple of years, it crawls onto Brocks hand, moving up and around his body. Brock closes his eyes and then the Symbiote covers his face. Suddenly, there is raspy breathing.
Queens, NY, back at Aunt May's house.
MJ: "What are we going to do with this house once we pack everything up?"
Peter: "I don't know MJ, it's not easy letting go of someone who has taken care of me since I was a little boy."
MJ puts down a box and hugs Peter.
MJ: "I know you miss her Peter, but we should never learn to let go. Even when they are on longer with us, Peter."
Peter smiles at MJ and tries to hold back tears.
Peter: "your right MJ, I've been living with my Uncle's death for years. His words guided me through all my troubles. With great power comes great responsibility, I will always live by those words...no matter what happens.

I'm pissed. The Spider-Man 3 comic book exclusive at Wal-Mart, "The Black", is out and I can't find anyplace online where I can buy the book alone! I am NOT paying for the DVD just to get the comic book, and I do NOT want the DVD at all! To hell with the movie, I just want to see Bagley and Bendis's interpretation of the birth of Venom. I guess I could wait a little longer, since eBay sellers will eventually start selling the book alone, but, man I can't wait. I've never been a patient person. I would be able to maintain my composure if, ya know, we had a consistent Venom in the mainstream Marvel comics, but I'm Venom deprived, so any comic book Venom (Eddie Brock) will do, which would explain that despite my distaste for Spider-Man 3, I reaaaaally need the comic it's based on, just to get my comic-Venom fix for the moment. I'm extremely pissed about this!

Queens, NY, back at Aunt May's house.
MJ: "What are we going to do with this house once we pack everything up?"
Peter: "I don't know MJ, it's not easy letting go of someone who has taken care of me since I was a little boy."
MJ puts down a box and hugs Peter.
MJ: "I know you miss her Peter, but we should never learn to let go. Even when they are on longer with us, Peter."
Peter smiles at MJ and tries to hold back tears.
Peter: "your right MJ, I've been living with my Uncle's death for years. His words guided me through all my troubles. With great power comes great responsibility, I will always live by those words...no matter what happens.

Anyway, here is part 2 to "rebirth of poison".
"rebirth of poison" part 2.
An apartment house in manhattan, where a man named Mac Gargan (Scorpion) lives.
Mac Gargan: "Why me? Why does everything have to go wrong for me? I had such great power, but I lost it. I wake up and it's gone, dissapeared. *sigh* I hate everybody who has done me wrong!"
Mac is on his way out of his apartment when he hears a noise from a darkened room in his apartment.
"thump!"
Mac: "Huh? who's there? Show yourself!?"
a voice from somewhere inside his apartment...
Venom: "ohhhhhh....poor little Mac, pouting and sobbing over loss of power and invincibility. You will never be good enough Mac! Go back to your green pajamas, Gargan!"
Mac: "Shut up! I'll kill you, I swear!"
Venom: "Goooood, hmmmmmm, I guess I better start running and screaming for help so that puny Spider-Man will come and save me."
Mac: "What do you want!?"
Venom: "Your brains, mmmmmm!"
out of the darkness inside the apartment, Venom jumps down and Mac looks like he is in shock. He runs to the door, but Venom shoots a web at his feet and trips him. Venom drags Mac with his webbing....
Venom: "Going somewhere, Gargan?"
Venom grabs Mac by his face...
Venom: "I love the look of fear in your face. You will never have our power, your weak and stupid. We are your worst nightmare and if you ever try to get in the way of our bonding, you won't live long enough to realise the mistake you made!"
Venom punches Mac, sending him into a door and knocking the door down.
Venom jumps out the window.
the next day in some part of Manhattan.
Two bank robbers are being chased by the cops on a street.
Passenger: "speed up, try to lose them." says the passenger as he shoots at the cops car.
The cops speed up and try to hit the side of the car but miss and spin around. Then, we see Spidey web-swinging and lands ontop of the car...
"thump!"
The passenger sticks part of his body out of the car and aims at Spidey ontop of the car.
Passenger: "Time to die, Web-slinger!"
Spidey: "It's so nice of you to say that, chuckles! It really touched my heart."
Spidey shoots a web at the robbers gun and pulls it away and then shoots a web at his mouth...
Passemger: "mmrrrph!"
Spidey grabs the passenger and throws him in the air and Spidey shoots a giant web and the passenger lands on it.
Spidey then rips open the hood of a car and shoots a web inside of the motor, causing the car to stop. Spidey leaves both robbers tied up in a web, left for the police.
Now, we see Peter arrive at his apartment and takes off his mask. He walks into the kitchen, where MJ made breakfast for him.
MJ: "Hi Peter, I made breakfast for you."
Peter: "thanks MJ, I'm starving." says Peter as he turns on the TV.
Peter: "cereal and wheatcakes, my favorite!"
MJ: "Aunt May once told me they were your favorite."
Peter smiles at MJ and then Peter hears something on the news.
"late last night, a patient at a hostpital escaped. The patient was Edward "Charles" Brock. There is no evidence to give the police clues as to what happened."
Peter looks shocked and MJ looks nervous.
Peter: "MJ, I have to go and figure out what happened to Eddie."
MJ: "I know and don't worry, I'm not mad at all."
Peter smiles at MJ and switches into his Spder-Man costume and swings away.
Little did Peter know that after he left, there would be surprising news.
"This just in, a man, who appears to be Mac Gargan was found unconcious on the floor in his apartment. It seems as though he was attacked. We will let you know if we get anymore news on these two surprising discoveries."
MJ covers her mouth with her hand out of shockness...
Peter: "Oh my god..."

Yeah, it was Venom. He had the sharp teeth, eyes and the white spider symbol. The only difference was he was a dark red and black, but it was Venom, im 100% sure.

When Eddie Brock was incarcerated on Ryker's Island, socialpathic serial killer Cletus Kasady was his cellmate. And when the symbiote returned and broke Brock from jail, it left a spawn of itself in the cell with Kasady. This offspring would grow and mutate and bond with Kasady, turing him into a monster whose powers and strength surpassed both Spider-Man & Venom's combined! Unlike Venom, Carnage has absolutely no restraint! He kills just because he can! And when Spidey finds himself outmatched, he turns, desperately, to his anti-foe, Venom (who finally stopped pursuing Spider-Man on the belief he was dead)!

So I'm browsing my used bookstore and lo and behold, I find Diane Duane's "The Venom Factor." It's a great book, and I really want to buy it--but I'm poor as dirt, and my paycheck's not coming for another week.
I impatiently go through the week, hastily cash the check, run back to the bookstore--
--gone. Typical.

Anyway, here is part 3 to "rebirth of poison".
"rebirth of poison" part 3.
at another part of town, the Daily Bugle. JJJ's office...
J. Jonah Jameson is smoking a cigar and talking to robbie...
JJJ: "Damn kids! They are so ungrateful. Thats one of the reasons this world is falling apart. People like that wall-crawling menace, Spider-Man causing bad things in tihs world.
Robbie: "JJJ, Spider-Man is a good guy. He's saved your hide maultiple times."
JJJ: "So!? It doesn't mean he is doing it for the right reason. Don't kid yourself Robbie, he must vanish, desinigrate, get killed!"
Robbie: "Jonah, your all heart."
an elevator door opens and we see Peter Parker...
Betty: "Hi Peter! It's been quite a few days since I've seen you. Where have you b..." Betty is interrupted by JJJ...
JJJ: "Parker! What are you doing here? Get out!"
Peter: "Mr. Jameson, I wanted to tell you that--"
JJJ: "Save it Parker! You expect me to let you step foot in this building, after being absent for days? Your fired, Parker!"
Peter walks away, on his way out of the Daily Bugle.
Robbie: "JJJ, how could you do something like that? Peter's a good guy, you know he has not been normal since his Aunt died."
JJJ: "You want to be fired to, Robbie? I'm the boss around here, not you, not Parker, not Miss Brant, nobody! You follow by my rules."
We then see Peter walking on the side walk...
Peter: *thinking* *I can't believe it. He brushed me out of there, but if he wants it that way then fine.*
Peter then goes into an alley and changes into Spider-Man. He jumps and swings...
Spidey: *It doesn't really matter to me any--*
Out of no where Venom drops ontop of Spidey. Venom and Spiey are falling and Venom shoots a web and swings ontop of a building and so does Spidey.
Spidey: "Venom! I should have known the Symbiote took over Brock again!"
Venom: "Thats right parker and just to let you know, I made Gargan go sleepy by. Now it's time to finish you!"
Venom jumps at Spidey, but Spidey jumps out of the way and shoots a web at Venom. Venom dodges it and shoots a web at Spidey, it wraps around Spidey."
Venom: "tag, your it!"
Venom kicks Spidey, sending Spidey 20 feet across the top of the building.
Spidey: "Brock....erghhh...you've...got to get it off. Don't let it consume you again."
Venom: "We were meant for each other, Parker!"
Venom goes to grab Spidey, but Spidey jumps over him and kicks him in the back, making Venom fall to the ground.
Venom: "ohhhhhhh....now it's fun time!"
Venom jumps towards Spidey and they both grapple to the ground. Spidey dodges Venom's punches, but Venom connects with two punches to Spidey's face. Venom grabs Spidey and slams him.
Venom: "This isn't over, Parker! But for right now, ba-bye!"
Spidey looks hurt...
Spidey: *Why did this have to happen? Why would Brock give in to the Symbiote? And one of the most important questions, how did it find Brock?"
Spidey jumps off the building and web-swings away. He lands on the side of an apartment house. He opens the window and climbs in.
Spidey: *I'm not sure if I can find clues here, but it's worth looking."
Spidey searches cabinets, behind doors, and alot of other things.
Spidey: "Nothing, I pretty much knew this would happen."
Spidey hears a lock unlock and he jumps out the window quickly.
Brock see's his window open.
Brock: "I know you were here, Parker. I always know where you are. Your suffering isn't over Parker, it's just begun." Eddie Brock grins.

I purchased the Venom Factor years ago when it hit the shelves, it's a very good read, it's worth hunting down, you will not be disappointed!

So I'm browsing my used bookstore and lo and behold, I find Diane Duane's "The Venom Factor." It's a great book, and I really want to buy it--but I'm poor as dirt, and my paycheck's not coming for another week.
I impatiently go through the week, hastily cash the check, run back to the bookstore--

The only ones I know of are Venom factor, Lizard Sanction, and Octopus Agenda. Have't read OA, but the other two are really good, I highly recommend them.
In a similar vein is "Carnage In New York," which is written by someone else. It's okay, but contains the idea of Spidey being able to face Carnage one on one w/out a significant technical or allied compensation--which I think is rather ridiculous.

After the events in "Carnage Unleashed", the president of the video game company that wanted to make a game based on Carnage's attack on NY is put on trial and Ann is his attorney. The new Sin-Eater kills the president afterwards and attempts to kill Ann (she's fatally injured). Venom finds out and protects her from the Sin-Eater when he finds her at a hospital. He takes her to a fallout shelter where he has the symbiote join with her to heal her when Eddie gets attacked by some random bums. Ann, as She-Venom (errrgh) kills the bums, freaks out after the symbiote rejoins with Eddie, and flees to her apartment where psycho-bimbo holds her hostage.
(Who?! In "Carnage Unleashed", Eddie befriended a hippy-girl named Kristine who was dating a "druggie" named Clive. Eddie, as Venom, tried to scare Clive away from Kristine at her apartment, causing Clive to fall a series of stories and become paralyzed. In truth, Clive was not a druggie but was acting like one for an experiment that he and Kristine were involved in. By some 'wild' coincidence, Kristine's mom is a hitman, and she tells her mom she wants revenge, so her mom, who is never named, decides to use Eddie's ex-wife as bait.)
Venom finds the new Sin-Eater and fights him, then returns to Ann's apartment where somehow, psycho-bimbo takes him down...twice. Psycho-bimbo is carrying some serious guns, and with Venom down, Eddie tells the symbiote to leave him and go to Ann.
(Why!?? What can Ann and the symbiote do that Eddie and the symbiote couldn't?! And how could some gun-totting Barbie take down....gah, nevermind!!)
So now we got She-Venom (again, errrgh) vs. psycho-bimbo, when the Sin-Eater returns.
(I'm not enjoying this limited series. At least Sinner Takes All 5 gave us the good back-up story "Symbiote". I posted the scans a few pages back. Still, this limited series...She-Venom, a lame Sin-Eater, no name bimbo, and why is Eddie naked after the symbiote leaves him for Ann in part 5? He was FULLY CLOTHED when the symbiote left him for Ann in part 2! It makes no sense! Spider-Man and Venom's so-called "Final Confrontation" takes place in Amazing Spider-Man 373-375. In previous events prior to this story, Peter Parker's parents return into his life after so many years. When Venom finds out, he immediately escapes and goes after them, not with the intention of hurting them or using them as bait, but to protect them from Spider-Man? Hmmm...I think Eddie's crazy. Having no leads to find Venom, Spidey decides to pay a visit to Eddie Brock's ex-wife, Ann (Anne) Weying, to get any information that could help. The two have a talk about Eddie's history, and Ann starts to wondering if there's more she could have done to help Eddie...
...meanwhile, J. Jonah Jameson has learned that Venom's back, so he hires the Wild Pack (Silver Sable's international bounty hunting crew) to bring him in for an exclusive.
Spidey finds Venom at an abandoned amusement park, but he's not the only one to arrive. Afterwards, Ann shows up, to Venom's surprise. Ann actually starts to get through to Eddie (and his psychosis), when the Wild Pack shows up and attacks Venom from behind! Venom, of course, blames Spidey for this, thinking he tricked Ann into acting as a destraction for the Wild Pack, and all hell breaks loose. And as everything continues to fall apart, Peter's parnets have gotten free and are in the middle of teh whole thing! Seriously, a lot of stuff happens in this arc, the last true Spider-Man vs. Venom arc in the original run of Amazing Spider-Man. Not one of my favorites (personally, I like the 1st story, the 2nd story, and the Carnage story the best), and this is the official transformation of Venom from psycho-stalker badguy to psycho-talker goodguy (seriously, when Venom becomes a viglante, he talks TOO much!), but All the action, Bagley's art, and just knowing that this is it folks (no more good Spidey vs. Venom stories after this) will make you appreciate this one! And its the anniversary issue! (ASM 365 was the 30th anniversary of Amazing Fantasy 15, while ASM 375 was the 30th anniversary of Amazing Spider-Man 1).
If anyone is trying to check out the other profiles of the classic Venom arcs and find broken links, I am getting to fixing them. Goddamn, that's an awesome page! Gargan and the symbiote having a face-to-face!
I hope the symbiote doesn't leave Gargan yet. I'm not saying this to start an argument, I just don't want it leaving Gargan if it's NOT going back to Brock yet. So it leaves Gargan and joins another character no one wanted. SAME PROBLEM! If its not going to Edie, keep it with Gargan until then.
It's been a while since we've seen Mac Gargan without or outside the symbiote, and I forgot how...normal sized he was, what with him always be 20x huge as Venom. I wonder if the inhibitors in Mac are only in Mac and not the symbiote?

According to BMB in this interview...Venom will be returning to the pages of USM after the Amazing Friends arc is completed. But the big arc after that is "War of the Symbiotes."
It's a big story about Eddie Brock and Gwen Stacy, Carnage and more dramatic stuff happens where Peter is really forced to grow up in a big big big way and it's that and this arc together that really change the tone of the book for the better, just gives it some more gravitas.
Yeah, he's growing up. We're going to chop off his arms and give him robot arms.

see i get the feeling that the symbiote perfers gargan, cause brock put up to much resistance. it controlled the symbiote where as its vice versa with gargan

They were made for each other. Sure, Brock put up resistance, but it seemed like the Symbiote enjoyed being with Brock.

all the symbiote's host want it off them when it first starts to get on you but when you feel the power that it gives you, you stop trying to fight it back.

You know, I read Stephen King's "The Raft" the other day and I love that story. It's about a four college students who go swimming in a lake and there is this black oil slick which is apparently alive and has a taste for humans. I believe there was also a film adaption of it in Creepshow 2.
Anyhow, it got me thinking, there seems to be a lot of stories involving sentient tar like creatures.
We have the alien symbiote obviously, then there's the black oil from X-Files (whose in my avatar btw) just to name a few.
I just find it neat, is all.

Just read Ultimate Marvel. Brian Michael Bendis went into a little further detail about the "War of the Symbiotes" arc. Turns out that the events in that upcoming arc are going to parallel the USM video game plot. So this will be the closest we'll get to the USM video game tying into the comics continuity. Expect the comic debut of Ultimate Beetle?

I really don't like the Ultimate Venom, and the reason is because they're going to just change his color...and probably with no explanation; he was purple for crying out loud, why would he return and have a black color to him all of a sudden? Kinda like how when Peter first meets Venom, there's a box in where, after Peter swings away from the football field, it shows the white spider logo on Venom's chest and that's the only time...and then in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game, it has this whole story of how Venom eventually gets that spider logo by taking in the remaints of the Venom suit particles inside/outside Peter.
And just imagine if Brock Lesnar got the part to play Venom...sure, his acting skills might/be capable of sucking, but at least Venom would be this huge monster.
