View Full Version : The Official Batman Comics Stupid Questions Thread!

Bat-Mantis

Greetings Batfans. Got a dumb question? A small question about the comic that’s bugging you but you don’t want to start an ENTIRE thread about it, even if it hasn’t been discussed (because some people around here suuuure get pissed over that for some reason)?
Post it here!

I’ve decided to stop sitting back and seeing people get flamed for asking simple questions, got sick of people whining about there being one of these in the other forum (and not even giving a link, believe it or not. Ex: “The 'Weird Batman Question' Thread in Bat-World was created SPECIFICALLY so that single-question threads wouldn't be made.”), got sick of all the whiny b*tches and decided to do something about it. So I made this.

Rules:
It has to pertain to the comics.

That’s about it.
(I guess there’s one of these in the Bat-World board, but I don’t look at that board. Ever. And this is for comic questions, this is the comics forum, so it works.)

Does Scarface ever b**ch out Ventriloquist for constantly having his hand up his ass?

Does Oracle feel anything at all below the waist when Dick bangs her?

Does anyone care that Azrael never came back?

And here's one for the movies:

In Batman '89, why the hell were a bunch of Joker's henchmen waiting for Batman at the top of the cathedral? Why would they have gone there and when they hell did they do it?

Then again, without Ventriloquist having his hand up Scarface's ass, he wouldn't be able to do anything. So...

Does Oracle feel anything at all below the waist when Dick bangs her?

If memory serves, she isn't completely paralyzed, she just can't move her legs. But, who knows?

Does anyone care that Azrael never came back?

the reason the goons were up in the clocktower in batman 89 was that they were watching the parade from up there. at least thats what the novel says anyway. probably the same for the movie.

Barbara Gordon...after Joker shot her in the spine he stripped her nude, took pictures of her bleeding to death, and showed them to her dad :o
To clear this up, she wasn't naked for the viewer to see, it was implied and the blouse was just opened a little. And it was implied that Bruce was getting some from Selina Kyle in Dark Victory and Long Haloween, but I don't hink he was ever there to bang her. In DV, she's sitting by his fireplace and she's prone to bone, but Bruce isn't there.

and Batman's reaction to the whole incident seemed...lukewarm...weird!He should have been more furious at the Joker...instead he offered the clown help?!!!! Joker was trying to disavow any responcibility for his actions by saying he'd just simply snapped after falling into that vat of acid. He'd had a bad day, gone completely off his rocker & from then on, he cannot be accountable for his actions.

Batman had intended to rehabilitate Joker. The news that Gordon was still sane was meant to strike a blow to his pysche. And Joker had clearly been repressing an amount of guilt. He realized he could have stopped himself from harming Barbara.

The Joker doesn't know about Bruce Wayne being Batman because he doesn't care he's fixated on Batman
Essentially, Joker IS Joker. He stopped being a normal man the day his hair turned green & his skin got bleached. He has no secret identity. His "mask" never comes off. But that's okay... when he wasn't Joker, he was a schmuck. So being a homicidal maniac that other criminals respect & fear is better than being a schmuck.

Since when?
In the Death in the Family tpb,not long after killing Jason Todd/Robin II,the Joker gains diplomatic immunity for his varies crimes after becoming the Ayatollah(sp?).On his way to a podium to deliver a speech, the Joker passes by Bruce Wayne, slows down and begins laughing at him if I'm not mistaken.Bruce himself wonders if the Joker knows his secret.

I heard that he beat the JLA one on one and that batman doesn't know who the heck he is.
He's also been refered to as the "Anti-Batman".An orphan at an early age due to his criminal parents being gunned down by a cop,the man who would become Promethius dedicated his life to evil. Like the Dark Knight, he trained himself physically and mentally to near peak perfection. Uses computer files of his opponents that are linked directly to his brain to help defeat them. Can break into the JLA Watchtower, defeat all the Legue members but didn't prepare for Catwoman whipping him in his testicles causing his defeat.

Let's see,Batman debuted in Detective Comics 27 in 1939.In his early appearences he used to kill crimals by shooting them or even breaking their necks.By the time Robin debuted in 1940,Batman stopped killing and gradually became sillier and sillier as he entered the next decades.

As for your clock...you obviously need more prep time for setting it. :batman:

Robin91939
12-30-2004, 07:42 PM
Jim's first wife, Barbara, divorced Gordon because he loved being a cop more than he loved her. They had one child together, James Jr. Barbara (batgirl/oracle) was Jim's adopted daughter. When Barbara (gordon's 1st wife) left him she took little Jim jr. with her, and Jim sr. kept Barbara (batgirl/oracle).

various answers....

re killing joke - someone said you don't actually see Barbara naked, just the joker unbuttoning her blouse - http://ksacomics.com/killing/25.htm

I'm certain Joker knows who Batman is. Someone mentioned Death in the Family, which is the same thing I look at for justification and there's a line in Arkham Asylum where the Joker basically says who cares about what's under the mask, Batman is who he is.

As far as profanities go, I think I remember seeing the s-word in Dark Knight Returns.

Someone asked about the post-crisis order of villains, I don't know all of them, but I'm pretty certain (based on the ending to Year One and The Man Who Laughs) that Joker would be the first one (after Catwoman if you want to count Year One, and who knows whether Catwoman's prostitution days are in continuity or not anymore).

Now for my question - how come I can't add a sig file?

Bat Brain

i think ***** might be the strongest potty language ever used in a batman comic, "you shot me you *****!"-joker in dark victory

It's also said in Arkham Asylum when Mad Hatter's talking to Batman:

"That's why children...INTEREST me. They're all mad, you see, but in each of them is an implicate adult. Order out of chaos. Or is it the other way around? To know them is to know myself. Little girls, espically. Little BLONDE girls. Little shamless b***hes! Oh God. God help us all!"

Doctor Destiny calls Clayface a "dirty, rotten, bastard" in AA as well.

3. Does Gordon still have a red phone to call Batman, or is it still on the set of the tv show?
4. What is Batman's inseam length in Batman Attacks?
5. Are there any fat villians that pose a serious threat?
6. Does Batman's costume shrink in the wash?

1. I dunno.
2. Depends on who draws him.
3. No, just the Bat-Signal. Gordon isn't even on the force anymore, another guy named Atkins is.
4. Never read it.
5. Let's see...Calander Man looked like he had some pounds, maybe Mad Hatter too.
6. Nah, his costume's a kevlar-nomex weave, I don't think it shrinks and such like regular cotton material.

How much does Alfred make annually(before taxes)?

If the story where Bane found out that Batman's dad was his father too followed thru, would that have made him Bane Wayne???

Why did Jim Gordon allow his daughter to be Batgirl?

How did the Matt Hagen version of Clayface(who died in Crisis) come back to life?

Why did Denzel have to play a bad guy to win an Oscar?

No.

Or more specifically - not necessarily - Batman doesn't know who killed his parents, so I suppose it could still be Joe Chill.

Which is her official origin? I thouhgt it would be hooker since it was in Year 1.

is year one considered canon? I always just dismissed it as being out of continuity.

How did Gordon get fired and Atkins take his place?

and

What ever happened with that storyline where Bane was claiming to be bruces father...

Is Year One still in continuity? Year One is DEFINITELY still in continuity.

What ever happened with that storyline where Bane was claiming to be bruces father...
It was hinted that Bane could have been Bruce's half-brother, not father. And it turned out to be blatantly untrue, thank god.

Which is her official origin? I thouhgt it would be hooker since it was in Year 1.
It is. Read her own title, it's all in there and it's one of the best comics being published today.

Ok, also, what's Solomon Grundy's backstory? I was interested in him after reading TLH.

He's the zombified corpse of a man killed in the 19th century in a swamp outside of Gotham. He has the ability to die and be reborn, each time with a different character.

Good a stupid questions thread.

I'm collecting all things Batman Begins at the moment and have just found some Year One comics which look like they have been realeased for the movie/at the same time as the movie. I'm not a collector of comics but do you think it would be good to have these as a sort of tie-in to the film? The comics are:

Year One : Ra's Al Ghul
Year One Scarecrow (seems to be 2 of these, different covers)

Thanks for any help or opinions.

No, they don't really relate to the movie... they were only released to add to the hype and I guess to give a little info on the characters to people who saw the movie but aren't familiar with them. The Ra's story is pretty cool, but I can't see how its a "Year One" and the Scarecrow story I didn't like because it ruins the continuity established in The Long Halloween (the best Batman story EVER, in my opinion).

Does Bruce have illegitimate kids out there?

No. Pre-Crisis on Earth II, he and Catwoman married. They had a child who would be Huntress. But Crisis changed her origin, so Batman and Catwoman never married.

Batman has an out-of-canon son with Talia.

In the DCAU, Terry McGinnis is Bruce's biological son, but that is because Warren McGinnis' reproductive DNA was re-written with nanoids

And it was implied that Bruce was getting some from Selina Kyle in Dark Victory and Long Haloween, but I don't hink he was ever there to bang her. In DV, she's sitting by his fireplace and she's prone to bone, but Bruce isn't there.
He used the simple "pull out" method, works like a charm but leaves a stain.

How old is this kid?

Mister J
10-17-2006, 02:27 PM
Around 10-12. In all reality, we don't know if this is really Batman's son. Bruce himself isn't even sure. Talia just left the boy (Damien) with Bruce, said he's their son and took off. Batman feels sorry for the kid, knowing how he was raised and is trying to figure all of this out. Damien's a total prick though and there's sure to be some kind of reckoning in the next issue of Batman.
