1995... do more research, they have been a band since '95.You mean 1996. http://www.bnrmetal.com and look up slipknot
Good, Slipknot was a band far before that.So was korn, doesn't make them anyless nu-metal either.
Wtf are you talking about? All three of there albums have been completely different... they have been different everty single time, you are a moron to think they sound the same as any average "Nu-Metal" band to come along. No, I just have a better ear for music than you do and am able to distinguish what is nu and what isn't, unlike you, the fanboy.
No, no it isn't...Yes, yes it is. you are living at your parents house while I actually go to school and know exactly what people coin music as... and "Nu-Metal" has been gone for a while now. You must not go out very much, or talk to anyone in reality.Ahh yes, the trade mark "slipknot" resort to insults when his arguments are shot down. So sad. Btw, I live in a $220,000 house [more than you will make in your lifetime] And, as I have stated before and you ignored, my mother is dead. *******.
MFKR Nu-Metal? Wtf are you on?A big dose of reality. What are YOU on? That albums was considered techno and even disco by some.... they did not even sound like metal in some songs. They don't sound like real metal on any of their recent songs either. I highly suggest you listen to albums before you just label them as something they are not... and you probably never even listened to MFKR.I highly suggest you put down the fanboy act and look at it from a realists perspective for a change.
MFKR was released in 1995... damn you are stupid. You mean 1996. Damn you are stupid
http://www.bnrmetal.com
I never said they released ANYTHING before Korn, please read what I say next time.[/quote]You said they came before nu-metal. Nu-metal was released by korn in 1994. Please read what I said next time.
No, Slipknot: 1995 release of MFKR.Incorrect, as usual. Please read what I said next time:

Issues, Untouchables, and possibly Take A Look In The Mirror are that crap "Nu-Metal" stuff and you could argue Follow The Leader too... but old Korn was NOT "Nu-Metal".
No, I just have a better ear for music than you do and am able to distinguish what is nu and what isn't, unlike you, the fanboy.
Hahahaha, thats a laugh... you are WORLDS and I repeat WORLDS behind many members on this very board... even though I can dislike PLAS sometimes I can straight out tell you that he is the master of music knowledge here.
Yes, yes it is.
Get out of your house more often...
Ahh yes, the trade mark "slipknot" resort to insults when his arguments are shot down.
Shot down? I just owned you, it was 1995 moron.
So sad. Btw, I live in a $220,000 house [more than you will make in your lifetime]
Lol, I really don't care if you are telling the truth or not... money does NOT buy knowledge or happieness, and you sir have neither... and I am doing just fine for myself, thanks for asking.
And, as I have stated before and you ignored, my mother is dead. *******.
I believe I said parents...
A big dose of reality. What are YOU on?
Haha, you really haven't listened to that album have you?
They don't sound like real metal on any of their recent songs either.
You haven't even listened to MFKR...
I highly suggest you put down the fanboy act and look at it from a realists perspective for a change.
I could say that you are a fanboy of both Metallica and Transformers... but does it matter? Are you a realist? No, you are not.

Your site is wrong moron, I OWN THE CD!!! Go to ANY other site like this one provided... and LOOK!Incorrect. I'll trust and actual news site over a fanboy site.
Issues, Untouchables, and possibly Take A Look In The Mirror are that crap "Nu-Metal" stuff and you could argue Follow The Leader too... but old Korn was NOT "Nu-Metal".Incorrect. In fact, it was because of the first korn albums that ther term nu metal was created.
Hahahaha, thats a laugh... you are WORLDS and I repeat WORLDS behind many members on this very board... even though I can dislike PLAS sometimes I can straight out tell you that he is the master of music knowledge here.Sorry, you are simply wrong. Being a guitarist and moderate drummer, and having listened to more music in 5 years than you have in your whole life proves my statement.
Get out of your house more often...Come up with a decent argument more often....
Shot down? I just owned you, it was 1995 moron.Sorry, the NEWS site shows otherwise.
Lol, I really don't care if you are telling the truth or not... money does NOT buy knowledge or happieness, and you sir have neither...Incorrect. I continuously demonstrate more musical knowledge than you, and this is proven when you say slipknot isn't numetal.
I believe I said parents...I believe I said she was dead.
Haha, you really haven't listened to that album have you?Yes, I unfortunately have. My brother owns it.
You haven't even listened to MFKR...Read above.
I could say that you are a fanboy of both Metallica and Transformers... but does it matter?Except that A. you would be wrong because I don't constantly rant and rave about either, and B. you would just be making a bigger fool of yourself. Are you a realist? No, you are not.Again, you are quite incorrect. I am able to look at the situation from an un-biased, non fanboy, REALISTIC perspective. You are not.
You sir are a trainable... go to the link provided jackass...Again, I'll trust a reputable news site over a fanboy site.
Korn's self titled album was not "Nu-Metal"...Sorry, it is, read the statement above as to why. I suppose EVERYTHING from 1990 and up that is Metal is "Nu-Metal" to you huh? What kind of idiotic reasoning and logic was behind you making that statement?

Slipknot came out before "Nu-Metal" was even a term. So how can they be considered "Nu-Metal" when they came before it and they have now surpassed it? "Nu-Metal" is no longer a term used, I haven't heard it used in about two years, seriously.
Also, Slipknot has been around since 1995. Limp Bizkit's first record came out in '97 right? Korn has been around longer... but Limp Bizkit I don't believe has.True but id still consider them numetal. What i consider to be metal is normally that 80's trash aside from metallica. Its numetal because its metal with an entirely new sound that is how it got its name. But you are dead on when u say they were pioneers of this style of music and they do ****IN ROCK UR WORLD.

Hey guys, what the **** does is matter if it's nu-metal or not. If it ****ing rocks then it ****ing rocks and thats all that should matter. I've heard people label Iron Maiden as 80s hair metal, which pissed me off, but it didn't matter what they labeled it because it still rocked. I love Slipknot and I think they kick 3100 kinds of ass, but I don't get all in a tizzy when someone says "You listen to nu-metal?" I say "No, I listen to Slipknot and every other band that I think rocks." This labeling bull**** is one thing thats to bringing music down. People won't listen to bands b/c they are nu-metal or rap-rock or punk or whatever. MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND AND DON'T LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE ELSE SAYS. That's what rock is all about anyways.

Ozzy Apologies
In a brand new interview with the Classic Rock magazine, Ozzy Osbourne spoke about the success of "The Osbournes" and the impact his newfound status as a TV star has had on the way he is perceived by his longtime fans, reports Blabbermouth.net.
"When 'The Osbournes' took off, I thought, 'Man, I've probably shattered eight million dreams in one ****ing airing,'" he said. "I've had people I've admired over the years. I've built up a mental picture of them, and then when I've met them it's been a bit of a letdown. So yes, it did cross my mind a lot, the fact I've disappointed people. And if I have, I'm sorry. At the end of the day, with 'The Osbournes', I ****ing hated it. I only really noticed how big-time I had become when the music industry began to invite me to posh functions. All these executives kept on wanting to meet me for some reason. Again, I don't like it. My wife's more of a socialite.
"Look, man, this is how it happened. 'The Osbournes' took off, then my son got hooked on heroin, my daughter got strung out on pills, I ended up back on the p*ss, and my wife got cancer of the colon.
"For all the money we have, the way we live, the cars we drive, the first-class travel we take... I would gladly give it all up just to be simple old Ozzy again."

I would say Metallica...but they released St. Anger. I would say Black Sabbath, but I like them only when Ozzy's in the band, so the 80s and much of the 90s is out for them. Solo Ozzy has always been good, though. I would say Guns N' Roses, but they were only good for such a short period of time in the late 80s/early 90s...and the new band that Axl's put together is nowhere near being as good as the classic line-up.

I have that issue  (I buy em all as they come out CR is my favorite magazine, and if it wasn't a damn import I'd subscribe :o but as is its cheaper for me to pay $8 an issue as they come out :( by the way thats not the newest ;) the newest has Metallica on the cover)
this was my favorite quote from that interveiw :o
"I don't hold up a neon sign telling people who I am. But anyway this woman comes up to me on the street in Boston, and shouts in my face: 'OZZY-F**KING-OSBOURNE!' Now I know I say 'F**k' a lot, but sometimes it upsets me to hear other persons swear. It just doesn't suit some people; this woman was all prim and proper. Anyway she goes to me: 'What are you f**king doing in f**king Boston?' I go: 'What do you think I'm doing?' She goes: 'I don't know.' I say: 'A show' She goes: 'What kind of show?' I start thinking this woman is insane, and I go: 'I'm doing a rock n' roll show.' And she goes [adopts a shrill American accent]: 'My-oh-my, I didn't know you did those as well!' And I thought to myself, where the f**k have you been for the past 35 years, missus?!?"

Bryan Ottoson, the guitarist of American Head Charge died... supposedly he was found dead in his hotel room. They canceled the show that night with Mudvayne and etc. because of it. That sucks, American Head Charge was a good band.
EDIT...
The web site of the Plex concert venue in North Charleston, SC, where AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE were due to perform Tuesday night (April 19) with MUDVAYNE, LIFE OF AGONY and BLOODSIMPLE, has been updated with the following message:
"The MUDVAYNE show scheduled tonight 4/19/05 had to be postponed due to the tragic death of a member of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE. The new show date will be scheduled within the next few days. You will be notified of the new date and all tickets will be honored at that time.
"The Plex would like to extend our sympathy to the members of AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE for their tragic loss, and thank all guests for their understanding during this situation."
As previously reported, AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE guitarist Bryan Ottoson was reportedly found dead in his bus bunk earlier today prior to the band's scheduled appearance in North Charleston, SC. An official word on the matter is expected shortly.

Great song.
.and any claim that anyone would make for an artist is just plain ignorant.
Not true, because there are some gutarists that are just clearly better than others. Eddie van halen and randy rhoads are clearly more talented players than jimmy page or kirk hammett, etc...

No it's not. Your statement proves your ignorance. I have been playing guitar for 15 years and am willing to bet that I am better than you or anyone else on this forum and the musicianship in a lot of metal is up to or surpases the level of your precious standard rock. I'd like to see any mainstream rocker write rythems like dave mustaine's or play leads like alex skolnick's.

Randy Rhoads was amazing. I loved how he combined heavy metal and classical music, his playing was original and powerful at the same time. It's a tragedy that he died so young and hadn't hit his prime yet, we're only left to wonder what could've been if he was alive.
Other great guitarists include Chuck Schuldiner, Jeff Loomis, Andy La Rocque(Amazing guitarist), Michael Schenker(spelling?), Michael Romeo(Symphony X), Yngwie Malmsteen(Older stuff), Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, Dave Mustaine, and the list goes on and on really.
And any musician who thinks metal is a joke is ignorant themselves. Metal, in general, whether people want to believe it or not has amazing musicians and they showcase it in their music.
Examples like Nightwish, Symphony X, Evergrey, Death, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth, God Forbid, Iced Earth(Older stuff), King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Queensryche, W.A.S.P., Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Dio, Iron Maiden, Opeth, and Dream Theater all showcase their brilliant musicianship in their music and any "musician" who can listen to it and call it a joke needs to share the weed they're smoking.

Here is a link to vote for the tv show "america's most wanted". They are having a poll for "AMW's all stars" which the winner recieves 10,000$ and some other stuff.
What the blue hell does this have to do with metal?
Well one of the nominees is officer james niggemeyer, the man who ended the rampage of the crazed fan that killed dimebag darrell in december.
If you all choose to vote, I'm not going to say vote for him just because of this because ALL of them are deserving, but if you feel he deserves it, go ahead.

Lost In Hollywood - System Of A Down
I'll wait here
You're crazy
Those viscious streets are filled with strays
You should've never gone to Hollywood
They find you
Two-time you
Say you're the best they've ever seen
You should've never trusted Hollywood
I wrote you
And told you
You were the biggest fish out here
You should've never gone to Hollywood
They take you
And make you
They look at you in disgusting ways
You should've never trusted Hollywood
I was standing on the wall
Feeling ten feet tall
All you maggots smoking **** on Santa Monica Boulevard
This is my front page
This is my new age
All you *****es put your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just dont care
All you maggots smoking **** out there on Sunset Boulevard
All you *****es put your hands in the air and wave 'em like you just dont care
Phony people come to pray
Look at all of them beg to stay
Phony people come to pray
The lines in the letter said
We had gone to reconcile
Phony people come to pray
All you maggots smoking **** on Santa Monica Boulevard
All you maggots smoking **** out there on Sunset Boulevard
All you maggots smoking **** out there on Hollywood Boulevard
You should've never trusted Hollywood
You should've never gone to Hollywood

Agreed. These are the metal bands. The bands with melody. Not the crap nu-metal you hear on the radio or see on mtv. In past decade of music, metal bands like these have been truely focused on musicianship, unlike rap and pop bands that produce music for the image and the buck.

Well it's hard to say what is underground anymore. I don't have a radio station where I live that will play anything like them, so where I live they are underground, but if you consider a band that gets on television to be mainstream than you wouldn't think they are underground

I'm not a big fan of their recent album, their previous one, Valley of the Damned, was more to my liking.
Black Winter Night, Revelations, Disciples Of Babylon and Heart of the Dragon are personal favorites. When it comes to power tend to lean more towards Sonata Arctica.
Haven't listened to much metal as of late. Been sticking with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath (Ozzy era) and revisiting Metallica lately. Everything else has been a local classic rock radio station.

For all you hardcore enthusists. I'd like to know your opinion of Lamb Of God and Hatebreed. And an actuall OPINION! None of that "new age sucks" or crap like that. I want a "I dont like them because..." or "i like them because...". Thankz. Cheerio.
i dont like either of them because lamb of god has weak distortion and At The Gates ripp off riffs and hatebreed i dont like because well ive seen them 4 times in a span of 2 years when they would open up for other bands and they played the same set each time...bo0o0o0oring

While the band are best known as pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal, they also drew inspiration from many other musical genres, including blues, rockabilly, reggae, soul, funk, jazz, classical, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, folk, pop, Latin and country.

Anyone familiar with the story of Jason Becker? He was/is an amazing musician who started his career in the guitar duo band Cacophony with Marty Friedman, went on to play with David Lee Roth, and even released some solo albums.
He is a gifted individual. Unfortunately he was stricken with the disease known as ALS(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), which robbed him of his ability to move and speak. He is an amazing inspiration for all those who feel they can't amount to anything or feel as though their life is so hard.
What does this have to do with metal? The fact that he's still alive and well, living strong, still making music, and plus he's an all around cool and funny guy. I'd love to meet him.
