Quit the Metallica hating, they're still a member of the big four of thrash.
Even though they no longer consider themselves thrash, let alone metal?

Bands change, Pantera used to be glam metal and now look at them.
Metallica still makes some great songs, it doesn't matter that much what they call themselves.

Duh, but they're still a great example of the evolution of bands.

Metallica might be called "Hard Rock" but they still make some great tracks. St. Anger was just a **** up.

What the hell? I'll admit that Metallica isn't quite metal anymore but Unforgivin and no leaf clover are still good songs. Saint Anger was a piece of **** but every band has their dumb albums. Look at Black Sabbath's "Technical Ecstasy" and you'll find your proof. They only died when they got rid of Ozzy.
jimmy
03-09-2007, 11:53 PM
That's just the case: Metallica isn't metal anymore.
Pantera went out on a high note -- Reinventing The Steel. And if you listen to every single Pantera album -- Glam albums included, starting first the first ever LP, Metal Magic -- you'll see that they got sicker and sicker progressively; they didn't start their career with a great album like Cowboys from Hell and end it with a crap album like I am The Night.
Face It. Metallica had some great albums, but those days are long and gone, my friend. Stop looking at the picture of Lars, James, Cliff, and Kirk on the back of Master Of Puppets, and look at the picture of Lars, James, Kirk, and Robert in the current issue of Guitar World.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER have posted the following update:
“Well after 4.5 months of grueling searching we are extremely happy to announce that Shannon Lucas (All That Remains) has joined the BLACK DAHLIA fold. He is an extremely sick player, as many of you already know, and we can’t wait to do the next album together. We also would like to thank everyone that tried out for the band, we had the chance to jam with some amazing dudes throughout the process. We encourage everyone who can to come out to our first show back at NEMF’07. We also recently launched our new online merchandise store. Stop by and see if there is anything y’all need.”

Slayer, Marilyn Manson - To Launch 25 City Co-Headlining North American Tour on July 25th
SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON have announced that they will co-headline a North American major-market Summer tour set to kick off July 25th on the East Coast. Plans are for the tour to play some twenty-five cities and wrap up early September on the West Coast. A full, confirmed schedule will be announced shortly.
SLAYER and MARILYN MANSON will each play full sets, and two support bands, yet to be determined, will open all shows.
Just prior to the American trek, both MANSON and SLAYER will be on tour throughout Europe, sharing the stage at three European festivals - the U.K.’s Download Festival at Donington (June 9th), Greenfield Festival in Sweden (June 15th), and Stockholm’s Metaltown Festival (June 30th).
MARILYN MANSON just wrapped up work on his upcoming June release to be titled, “Eat Me, Drink Me,” which Rolling Stone magazine anticipates as “epic.” Voted “Best Band in the World” by Kerrang! magazine, the army of noise behind MARILYN MANSON’s bitterness is at once raw and massive when witnessing him live - “rousing the crowd with focuses ardor,” states the New York Times.
Celebrating their 26th year together, the always-uncompromising SLAYER was just named “Best Live Band” in SPIN’s 2006 Readers Poll, and picked up their first Grammy Award last month for “Best Metal Performance.” Their latest album, “Christ Illusion” - debuting at #5 on Billboard’s Albums Chart - takes on the U.S. Government about the War in Iraq, prompting one newspaper to speculate, “If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to SLAYER.”

I think metallica should devote a cd to all the now unoriginal critisism that comes there way.
Before Dimebag got shot. You never really heard much about Pantera. Interesting.*Loads up shotgun, & heads to Metallica's studio*

Pantera is a perfect example of selling out, metallica is a perfect example of staying true to themselves
How exactly did Pantera ever sell out?
By making progressively heavier music? That’s what they were into.
That’s what they were all about, they stayed true to themselves.
Metallica also never sold out, it's just there music went in the opposite direction.

There are bands much better than metallica even in their prime
How about yes.
Slayer piss on Metallica.
Metallica post 1991 sucks.

How about no. Slayer post 1990 sucks. Kerry king is the absolute worst lead player I've ever heard, tom is an average bassist at best with absolutely zero vocal discipline. Jeff is a good rythem player and decent on leads but still not that good. The only dept slayer have ever excelled in is their drummers.
Oh, and lots of bands kill pantera
How exactly did Pantera ever sell out?
By making progressively heavier music? That’s what they were into.
That’s what they were all about, they stayed true to themselves.
Metallica also never sold out, it's just there music went in the opposite direction.Because their true selves were glam, and they saw that genre dying and bands like metallica, megadeth, anthrax, slayer etc getting more and more attention and decided to make more aggressive music in order to continue their careers
