Ripping an arm or a leg off of one of these for the first time was like injecting heroin for the first time in that, you know it's stupid, you know it's going to ruin everything, the momentary thrill will not outweigh the long-term regret, but you do it anyway.
Then you fit the limb back on and it looks lame, falls off, and by that time, it's ruined so you think, "what's the point, there's no turning back.:(" so you rip another off, then the head, then the torso in half, then you try burning it, then you ask for a new one and the Moms is all, "No way, psycho.".

OK, weird story...
Back around 1983 or '84, I bought a Star Wars Tie Fighter Pilot figure and when I opened the package the thing smelled so strongly of fake strawberries it made my eyes water! It must have been made in the same factory as Kenner's Strawberry Shortcake dolls and somehow got sprayed with whatever scent the dolls were sprayed with. It literally took 2 years for the smell to go away.

Yeah... being a kid was great back then. All these kids in school don't know what they've missed.
I agree. It is my belief that these great cartoons of yesteryear helped to turn us into well rounded adults. We didn't go around shooting each other at school, because we had GI Joe and Transformers shooting the hell out of each other for us to let our pent up emotions go on. If they had cartoons with this kind of action now, the kids would more than likely start to straighten their acts.

bah...I used to live in Rhode Island and Hasbro had a factory there. My mom had a friend who worked there and my brothers and I were used to test the toys to see if they could be transformed. When were done we were taken to a big Hasbro store and given 100$ worth of transformers EACH.

Putting on the decals, I was like a serious, focused expert preparing to cut a priceless diamond, or a neurosurgeon operating on his own daughter, hahaha
'cause if it went on misalligned, peeling it back off and trying again always felt lame, so the toy was pretty much ruined if I didn't get it perfect the first time, a cursed object.
