I posted this before on the "official GR hype thread" but cant hurt to post it again...

-Black Sabbath (paranoid, war pigs, iron man "instrumental version used for trailer..no lyrics")
-10,000 Homo DJs w/ Trent Reznor (supernaut )
-Motorhead (ace of spades)
-KMFDM (drug against war, son of a gun)
-NIN (wish)
-Lightning Bolt (two towers, conan)
-Treponem Pal (the renegade)
-Ministry (jesus built my hotrod, scarecrow, just one fix)
-Butthole Surfers (who was in my room last night)
-A Perfect Circle or Tool (pretty much anything )
-White Zombie / Rob Zombie (more human than human, devil man, superbeast, ...ah hell.....just about anything from these guys would fit! heh)
-Rollins Band (Ghost Rider.....naturally...but used for the ending credits)

Hopefully not loser crap metal like they did for Punisher. The Staind song they promoted it with was great but that "Powerman 5000" song they had for the credits rolling and apparently a music video for it was simply awful. It should be hard rock, and classic rock not gothy, "dark" metal, which only utter losers are enthusiasts of.

It should be remeniscant of "Easy Rider" not the pot-smoke filled garage of the retard who listens to slipknot down the street.

Yeah, I like a fair bit of that selection, however I think various tracks should be chosen to reflect differences in the kinds of characters involved. Blaze and GR of the first series strike me as being better matched up to some old school ballsy or sleazy sounding rock than more recent metal outings. I'm thinking how perfect GNR's "You Could Be Mine" fitted the motorcycle scenes early in T2: Judgement Day here. ;) The Datsuns' "Mother F cker From Hell" might be a good fit for Ghost Rider. Zarathos would be a better candidate for Ministry tracks IMO as would the likes of Blackout. Mephisto needs soft haunting orchestral scores.

Still need to jam some Nordic Black Metal in there somewhere though eh?

I hate all the gothy crap. However Drowning Pool isn't really gothic by todays standards. Atleast the original DP wasn't. Now I hear that the lead is a crazy mofo which is dumb (I do like Step Up tho). I've never been into the crazy super hardcore ****. The worst I get is Pantera... hey why not put Cowboys From Hell on it. :D Even thought I like some metal (mainly the puss metal like DP, Stone Sour, Union Underground and Saliva) I also like the classic stuff. Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Van Halen and Skynyrd kick ass. ;) However, don't see any of them (especially Skynyrd) making it onto a GR soundtrack.

New kids on the block - hangin tough
brittney spears - toxic
Justin timberlake- rock your body
Flock of seagulls- I ran
micheal jackson - bilie jeanThat would kick major ****ing ass! Five out of the five are actually good songs... lol. (GTA Vice City got me liking the last two. I remember liking Hangin Tough as a kid and Britney Spears is just a hot whore and the song is kinda catchy. Rock your body. Now that's some catchy ass **** right there. Hear it once and you want stop singing it for the rest of the day. It's ok to deny it, I'm sure no guy would admit it. :D) None of these for the GR genre though.

I don't think there should be any soundtrack at all. Maybe when you see somone in a car with the radio on, or a some sort of Club. But I don't want any songs being in fight scenes or anything with the action, it should just be composed music.

I agree.
Realistically....they will go for the new artists....will probably sell more soundtrack cds if they did and the might be cheaper to get too. i just hope they can compromise and get some old stuff in there too. would love to hear some Black Sabbath or Motorhead in there somewhere
im curious though who they will get to do the straight instrumental/background music.

I have a feeling we're gonna here a lot less Metal than most think. This movie is gonna be 'touching' as well as horrific remember. It's a heartbreaking story if you remember. This guy sells his sole to save another and it tears him up inside.

Plus, can you really picture Stayer playing with Nic Cage's face on screen? Now that's a ****ed up music video if I ever saw one.

If there is a soundtrack, something like the SPAWN soundtrack woudl be nice...however...what would make it even better is if it were songs INSPIRED by the film, not necessarily all appearing in the film (my one real little gripe with DD)

Hola all,

Since this movie is a go and I haven't seen anyone mention the music for the movies. Who do you all think should score the movie?

I'm not sure if anyone has heard of him, but I believe Tuomas Holopainen from the band Nightwish could score a great film. I believe he could bring certain moods to scenes involving Blaze/GR.

If not him, then Graham Revelle(Spelling?) he did The Crow, Daredevil, and I know he did a lot more. But those are the two that I'm very familar with and happen to enjoy.

I personally don't recommend Danny Elfman, simply because GR isn't Spider-Man or Batman for that matter. But seriously, my first pick is Tuomas Holopainen, and I recommend you check out his band Nightwish. You'll see what I mean with the music he creates.

Well I'm glad I found this thread. Hmm, who would I put on the Ghost Rider Soundtrack/Score? I definitely believe Tuomas Holopainen(Nightwish) could make a killer/creepy score for Ghost Rider.

1. Dimmu Borgir- Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse
2. Nightwish- Ghost Love Score(Maybe or maybe just the instrumental version)
3. Black Sabbath- Black Sabbath
4. Slayer- Hell Awaits or Raining Blood
5. Megadeth- Go To Hell
6. Lacuna Coil- Tight Rope
7. God Forbid- Precious Lie
8. Shadows Fall- Ghosts Of Past Failures
9. Vital Remains- Dechristianize
10. Judas Priest- Beyond The Realms of Death
11. Metallica- Fade To Black

Personally, I think they should do 2 cds... one that's the score and the other that is "music from and inspired by" like they like to do lately. Keep in mind I never read Ghost Rider but from what I've heard from you guys his story sounds REMOTELY similar to Spawn's, and if thats the case, I'd get Iced Earth involved. They wrote an entire concept album based on Spawn. Someone mentioned its gotta be touching since he sold his soul to hell... ok well how's this:

The time is close now, the end is near
My walk through the valley, trails of fear
I feel empty, my penance overdue, I guess it's too late now
To be with you
I'm extremely frightened of what will surely be
I sold myself, the death of me
I know you can't forgive me
I know I'm on my own, I've betrayed you
I walk alone

What exactly is the meaning of this
Just pawns in your twisted game
Severe pain for the lie I'm livin'
For a love I never could betray

Question me not say the lord unto thee
You have chosen your own fate and your own destiny
Denied of this life is what you are to be
You have chosen your own fate and your own destiny

Lord I pound my fists at you
Won't you just let me die
Would I not suffer enough
No inner peace no after life

I did what I thought was right
All for the love of my life
I know it's sad but true
Something is very wrong
Condemned to suffer so long
For a love so true

The question that lies within
Is so hard to understand
It still tears at me
And in my dying breath
My heart holds no regrets
I wouldn't change a thing

My spirit begins to rise into the heavenly skies
Just to be shunned away by you
Now all I want is to die, no streets of gold in the sky
And I wash my hands of you

Rising to the heavens light
Just to plea for death
Just to be denied

-"A Question Of Heaven"

I know its not exact, but it gives you an idea... and if you want something more Ghost Rider like, how about another Iced Earth song:

Hear now this story of the man that should not be
A ghoul of blackened torment, sullen atrocity
A kindred soul to the devils own, malignance personified
Cast from his fire he molests the purest light

Profane to humanity menaced by flesh and bone
Screams of the unknown youth to him the sweetest tone
Undying in his will to kill his bloodlust is profound
For the blood of the lamb I've got to bring him down

For all the young lives you have slain
Fear now you shall obtain
Vengeance is mine
For every young one that has died
Your psychopathic genocide
Vengeance is mine

I shall do what the law won't do, I can make the sacrifice
For the families of these bodies
which held such precious life
Mine is not to ask forgiveness this deed I've proudly done
Without god without the devil this time I have won

For all the young lives you have slain
Fear now you shall obtain
Vengeance is mine
For every young one that has died
Your psychopathic genocide
Vengeance is mine

- "Vengeance Is Mine"

as for what songs I'd like on the soundtrack... himmm

Bad To The Bone - Forget who its by (I just think it would fit the biker theme)
Vengeance Is Mine - Iced Earth
99 Ways To Die - Megadeth
Unholy Confessions - Avenged Sevenfold
Hate Me! - Children Of Bodom
Demon Of The Fall - Opeth
Black - Sevendust
A Night Like This - Professional Murder Music
Blood On My Hands - Demons & Wizards
In The Air Tonight - Nonpoint
Heartshaped Abyss - Moonspell
Downfall - Trust Company
Revolution Man - Union Underground
King Of Terrors - Symphony-X
Demonheart - Luca Turilli
No Excuses - Alice In Chains
Then I'd close with the "Suffering Trilogy" off of the Dark Saga album from Iced Earth
Scarred
Slave To The Dark
A Question Of Heaven

Hey, metal rules an all, but come on, be honest...

You honestly think that Marvel would go that direction?

It's already being talked about as being PG.

The formula for the soundtrack is probably going to be similar to what we saw on the Punisher soundtrack and the Daredevil soundtrack.

It'll have some metal, but not all metal.

Ghostrider, motorcycle hero.
Ghostrider, motorcycle hero.
Baby, baby, baby, baby, he's blazing away!
Like the star, star, stars in the universe, yeah.
Baby, baby, baby, he's looking so cute, yeah!
Riding around in a blue jumpsuit, yeah.
Baby, baby, baby, baby, he's screaming the truth!
America is killing its youth.
I see them trying, dying, choking, drowning, going down, going down.
I see you dying, dying.
Oh. You don't wanna break apart Ghostrider's heart.
He's riding through your town with his head on fire.
He's riding through your town with his head on fire.
Halo burning. Eyes are crying. Halo buring. Eyes are crying.
Ghostrider, Ghostrider, Ghostrider, Ghostrider keep riding.
Never stop riding.
Hey, hey, don't forget to burn, don't forget to burn.
Burn with fire. With fire, fire, fire, fire!
With fire! Yeah!

Originally written by Johnny Rev and Alan Vega of Suicide in the early 80's, redone by Alan Vega as a crazy rockbilly tune, then covered by the Rollins Band (which appeared on the soundtrack for The Crow) and R.E.M.

Pretty cool song, except for the "looking so cute" lyric.

Yeah..that song was mentioned a few times in other "soundtrack" threads...i agree its a must in the film. however i would have it during the end credits after the movie is over....it wouldnt seem right to me to have it during the film.
i would think either the original punk song or the version from the Rollins Band.

FlameHead

Makes complete sense to me to use it... though, if doesn't fit the natural tone of the flick, they probably wont... or they'll remix it.

I personally don't think we need a Theme song (like Spiderman) in the film. It'll take away from the character... unless it is at the end, like BG suggests.

I'm sick of these Marvel movies with crappy Puddle Of Mudd and Nickelback soundtracks (Punisher, Elektra). I was immediately turned off to both of them. Most people at least appreciate Heavy Metal. It would be great if they had those bands on the soundtrack. but sadly the way marvel movie soundtracks go it will probably be new stuff....the best we can hope for is maybe one or 2 classic songs to make it in there. would love to hear Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" while GR is hauling ass down the freeway on this hellcycle.

That isn't even my favorite type of music, although I do like it. I like a completely type of music but those bands would be perfect for the movie. I know a lot more people would respect the movie if it had metal instead of whatever the style of music in The Punisher was called. That appeals to a group a lot smaller than the bands I listed ever would. Almost everyone I know at least likes ACDC. The movie would also have a unique quality to it if it was metal based. Anyways I'm just trying to prove my point. I'm sure Sony won't have that type of music anyways. I think Fox are the people who do that.

What would be a cool idea if they do decide to go w/ current rock music is to have 2 different soundtracks on the dvd. one that has the standard music tracks that would (hopefully) be a mix of new and some old stuff....and have another track that would only have classic 70s rock music. black sabbath, van halen, ac dc, ect. wont ever happen cuz of the $$ involved in getting tracks from all those 70s bands and the fact it would only be heard on the dvd, but it would have been cool for them to do..

The way that MSJ is developing this movie (westernesque), I can't see there being a whole lot of heavy metal music... though we do need something a little hardcore for the Ghost Rider scenes.

There is so much opportunity for this film to create a new sound. I mean, the movie is a Western/Action/Horror flick. That's quite a unique combination. Who knows what the heck that's gonna sound like.

some that i noticed were Black Sabbath, Ozzy Ozborne, AC DC...which some here have picked as faves for the soundtrack. looking at how Marvel did previous soundtracks for their recent films it doesnt give me alot of hope that we will see any classic music/metal bands on the line-up. im hoping that they will treat this one a little differently than their other films and possibly put something together that will have both new and classic metal music.

Thanks!

For a moment i was thinking that i may have put way too much thought and time into it, lol. I think that would be a good blend of music, Hard and mellow. And all of the song's lyrics contribute to the theme of the movie... Or so i believe.

::Note:: "Happy?" is a new song from Mudvayne that's going to be on their new cd in April, And it's kickass!! You might be able to find lyrics to it somewhere.

Most things you post here won't go unnoticed. Don't fret if nobody ever says anything though. We appreciated the time you put into it.

If i knew more about music I'd comment more on the actual list you provided... but I don't, and therefor I can't.

The movie starts out with a fade in of a biker driving down a long, desert road. You only see the riders point of view.
On the screen you see: Marvel comics and Sony presents:

Then you hear the bells............AC/DC "Hells Bells".....

GHOST RIDER

another possible senario:

Same image except for the opening tune is Stone Temple Pilots "Dead and Bloated".........whatchathink?

And only Amy Lee, the vocalist, was on the Punisher soundtrack. In a duet with Seether. So Evanescense was not on that soundtrack either.

I think there's a song that could play very well in a fast packed Ghost fight scene.
Although is classified as techno it has leading bass, guitar solo(it's somewhat very rockish), and recalls very much "I am the way of the future" the song it played in "The crow" when Eric fought with katana the entire gang in a hail of gunfire.
I am talking about "Ultra" by KMFDM. It has been used in "Street fighter the animated movie" in the fight between Vega and Chun Li and recently in the OAV "Ghost in the shell man machine interface".
The lyric also is very "compatible" :D

KMFDM - ULTRA LYRICS

When you peel back my eyes,
I see the pain and feel alive.
My hatred heaps upon this fire,
that burns inside and you blow higher.
But I don't need to you anymore.
You cannot hurt me anymore.

Keep it away from the fire unless you want it to burn.
It burns - wildfire.
Give it to me!
Your wildfire - don't take it from me!
Wildfire - give it!

And when you take me in your mind,
into this dirty sodden shrine.
I do not need you anymore.
You cannot hurt me anymore.

Keep it away from the fire unless you want it to burn.
It burns - wildfire.
Give it to me!
Your wildfire - don't take it from me!
Wildfire - give it to me!
Set on fire - don't take it from me!
Your wildfire - take it!

When you peel back my eyes,
I see the pain and feel flive.
My hatred heaps upon this fire,
that burns inside and you blow higher.

Keep it away from the fire unless you want it to burn.
It burns - wildfire.
Give it to me!
Your wildfire - don't take it from me!
Wildfire - give it to me!
It burns - wildfire - don't take it from me!
Wildfire - give it!
Wildfire - give it to me!
Your wildfire - don't take it from me!
Wildfire - give it to me!
Your wildfire - don't take it from me!
You caught on fire.
On fire.
On fire - I do not need you anymore.
Fire - You cannot hurt me anymore.
Fire - give it, give it to me!
On fire - I do not need you anymore.
Fire - You cannot hurt me anymore.
Fire - I do not need you anymore
Fire - You cannot hurt me anymore.

They lyrics do indeed fit nicely into the theme, though I'm not really conviced that they'll be using a metal/rock type soundtrack for this movie. It makes perfect sense to me that they would (and I'd love to hear some MegaDeth on board) but the movie is gonna be a western/biker/love story and the soundtrack needs to feel that out as well. I'm sure there will be some heavy hittin' music for the fight scenes though I guess.

And on a second note, if the song has been in that many movies already, I'd rather they picked something new for this one.

New Priest Lyrics for hellrider off new album. If these dont sound like they would fit i don't know what would.

Hellrider (6:23)
(Tipton/Halford/Downing)

Here they come
These gods of steel
Megatron
Devouring what's concealed

Speed of Death
Crossfired they stare
Final breath
From vapourizing glares

Raised to man oppressed
Sign of persecution

Hellrider
Roars on through the night
Hellrider
Raised for the fight

All incensed
To overthrow
Strong defence
With armaments they grow

By this quest
Their fates renowned
Put to rest
Abominations grow

Time to ram it down
Judgement for the tyrant

Hellrider
Roars throug the night
Hellrider
Raised for the fight

Fight undying and eternal
Wheels bring death and pain infernal
Honour bound your strength repleted
To no end they're undefeated

Hellrider Hellrider
You fought their battle for them

Hellrider Hellrider
You brought them through their despair

Hellrider Hellrider
Your tempered steel relinquished

Hellrider Hellrider
You slaught them all extinguished

Wrath of doom
In killing fields
They consume
Their valiants never yield

Triumph to the gods
Vanquished of enslavers

Hellrider
Breaking their will
Hellrider
In for the kill

Hellrider Hellrider
You fought their battle for them

Hellrider Hellrider
You brought them through it all

Hellrider

Wheels of Fire (3:46)
(Tipton/Halford/Downing)

Born on the other side
Of the track
Gotta get outta here
I won't look back

Born on the other side
Wild as a hurricane
Living in overdrive

Wheels of fire
In my soul
Wheels of fire
Wheels of fire
Let 'em roll

Too fast to give a damn
Stand my ground
No one or anything
To tie me down

Born on the other side
Wild as a hurricane
Living in overdrive

Wheels of fire
In my soul
Wheels of fire
Wheels of fire

Ride to live

Uhmm Manowar did a better one:

Artist : Manowar
Album : Kings Of Metal
Title : Wheels Of Fire

Since the dawn of time
I've rolled across the earth
Spinning in the dust
Long before your birth
Eating tar and gasoline
Every light I see is green
Open pipesmy machine's triple-plated chrome

Spirit of the wheel

Wheels of fire burn the night
Ride across the sky
Wheels of fire burning bright
We live to ride

Motors running
Now you're gonna learn
Waiting on the line
Make your tires burn
Fastfasterfasterfaster
Speeding always kills
Nothing else takes us to get these thrills

Spirit of the wheel

Wheels of fire burn the night
Ride across the sky
Wheels of fire burning bright
We live to ride

Blood and thunder on the road
My heart is pounding
My blood is nitroglycerine
I'm fire
Burningburningburningburning
Ready to explode
Don't want nothing left of me to scrape off the road

Spirit of the wheel

Wheels of fire burn the night
Ride across the sky
Wheels of fire burning bright
We live to ride

Clouds of smoke
Tires screaming
Fire in my hair
Blown into a thousand pieces
Scattered everywhere
Fastburnburningfaster
Wanna take a ride
Spirit of the wheel
Wheels of fire ride

Spirit of the wheel

Wheels of fire burn the night
Ride across the sky
Wheels of fire burning bright
We live to ride

Ozzy Osbourne's 'Bark at the Moon' would be good. Maybe something from Iron Maiden like 'Fear of the Dark'. The lyrics alone seem fitting for Ghost Rider.

You're right, it is a good idea to use the music of the era... and I'm sure they will. Some of it anyway. I can't see the entire soundtrack using that eras sound though. I'm sure they'll want to get today's music involved as well... just to get today's people interested in the film, if nothing else.

They at least need Back in Black by ACDC. It fits Ghost Rider pretty well, along with some of their other songs.

Back in Black - ACDC

Back in black
I hit the sack
I'ts been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes I'm, let loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging around
I keep looking at the sky
'Cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the herse 'cause I'll never die
I got nine lives
Cat's eyes
Usin' every one of them and running wild

CHORUS:
'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
(Well) I'm back in black

Back in the back
Of a Cadillac
Number one with a bullet, I'm a power pack
Yes, I'm in a bang
With a gang
They've got to catch me if they want me to hang
When I'm back on the track
And I'm leadin' the pack
Nobody's gonna get me on another rap
So look at me now
I'm just makin' my play
Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way

CHORUS

Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
Well I'm back in black
Yes I'm back in black

hooo yeah
Ohh yeah
Yes I am
Oooh yeah, yeah Oh yeah
Back in now
Well I'm back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back
Back in black
Yes I'm back in black

One perfect song has already been made for the soundtrack.. those who have listened to the Tony Iommi solo album put out a few years ago, should recall "Flame On", with Ian Astbury (of The Cult) on vocals. The song is catchy as hell, and well.. Flame On...

[featuring Ian Astbury]
I am one, one that shines
Yeah, I was born of a scorpion's mind
I am one, so alive
Don't try to teach me what your lips can't decide
I'm the sun, so alive
A simple breath's all I need to get by
Words you speak are like dirt in my mind
I'm gonna burn till all the stars die
Flame on
I used to bleed like a suicide mother
Flame on
And now I breathe in this dirty black summer
Flame on
I bought the truth in the mouth of my brother
Flame on
I used to bleed like a suicide mother****er
As it is, thought divine
A diamond seed in the heart of all mind
All is truth, truth it shines
Don't hesitate for the world it divides
Flame on
I used to bleed like a suicide mother
Flame on
And now I breathe in this dirty black summer
Flame on
I bought the truth in the mouth of my brother
Flame on
I used to bleed like a suicide mother****er
Flame on
I used to bleed like a suicide mother

I was thinking that it might be good if somewhere in the movie, at somepoint in the background playing on a radio or something, they played the Johnny Cash song Ghost Riders in The Sky. Not the whole thing, just a snippet, like they did in Blade when whistler is listening to the radio in his workshop. It would just be cool, and seeing as Johnny Blaze is a like a carney stunt rider, a bit of Johnny Cash music would fit in nice in that setting.

Ps. They could do the same in the Iron Man movie with the Sabbath song Iron Man, not the actual lyrics, just have the tune playing as he was suiting up maybe?

For Johnny how about Johnny Blade by Black Sabbath,A World Without Heroes by Kiss wouldn't be a bad song to play somewhere in the movie. Here's one for Ghost Rider:
Demon Speeding by Rob Zombie

Hey, do ya love me I'm untouchable darkness
A dirty black river To get you through this
Hey, do ya love me I'm a devil machine
Get into my world All American dream

In the mouth of madness Down in the darkness
No more tomorrow Down in the hollow

Hey do ya love it when The kids are screaming
Wrecking on the road Violate their dreaming
Hey, do ya love to see The filth in the clean
Get into the gone All American dream

In the mouth of madness Down in the darkness
No more tomorrow Down in the hollow

I'm demon speeding I'm demon speeding
I'm demon speeding I'm demon speeding

Get it on, get it on Get it on, get it on
Come alive

Everything is more than it seems on the threads usually. This one talks about more than possible tracks for the soundtrack.

It is probably going to be more like the Punisher soundtrack. It fit the movie quite well, and was not over the edge. GR's soundtrack will probably be built along the same lines.

I hope (but don't expect MSJ to) that he goes a little more old school with it. To name a few:

"Highway to Hell" by AC/DC
"You Got Another Thing Comin'" and/or "Breakin' the Law" - Judas Priest
"Hair of The Dog" - preferably Nazareth's original but I'd take Guns n' Roses' version
"Number of the Beast," "Killers" - Iron Maiden
"Voodoo Chile" - Jimi Hendrix
"Ace of Spades" - Motorhead
"Seek & Destroy" - Metallica
"Denim and Leather" - Saxon
"Balls to the Wall" - Accept
"Mean Street," - Van Halen

And of course (even though it isn't that old school)
"Them Bones" - Alice in Chains ;)

crystal_flame6

ACDC is a good bet, same as Judas Preist. Alice in Chains, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Iron Maiden, Metallica and Golden Earings' "Twilight Zone" would not surprise me. Some of the newer stuff is probably going to be in there, maybe re-do's of the songs out of the 70's and 80's, among songs made for the movie (definatly rock music but maybe not much metal due to the script.)

Allright. What songs do you desperately whant to hear on the Ghost Rider soundtrack?
Someone mentioned Riders on the storm by Doors.
I like that Idiea but only if they use the original and not some "modernized" version *Kooff!!SnoopDogNFSU2RapageKoff!!*

Also, I'll kill them if they wont fit the song Ghost Rider by Suicide in there somewhere :ghost: I would use it in the main titles, but I'll even settle for it in the background.
And NO! Not a "modernized" version :thing:

Suggestions? Comments?

I say Demon Speeding by Rob Zombie, and at least Ashes to Ashes off the Punisher Soundtrack. Throw in some of the artists that were big when GR was big (Black Sabbath, Judus Priest, Kiss, etc.) and you got a pretty good soundtrack. I hope that it is similiar to the Punisher ST myself. Marvel did a good job on lining up the songs to match the movie and hopefully they do the same for Ghost Rider.

Are you sure that Ghost Rider is not done by Rush? www.letssingit.com (http://www.letssingit.com) does not have it under Suicide's name.

Here's one that sounds like it was made for GR:
Wheels of Fire by Manowar

Since The Dawn Of Time
I've Rolled Across The Earth
Spinning In The Dust

Long Before Your Birth
Eatin' Tar And Gasoline
Every Light I See Is Green
Open Pipes, My Machine's
Triple-Plated Chrome

Spirit Of The Wheel
Wheels Of Fire Burn The Night
Ride Across The Sky
Wheels Of Fire Burning Bright
We Live To Ride

Motors Running
Now You're Gonna Learn
Waiting On The Line
Make Your Tires Burn
Fast, Faster, Faster, Faster
Speeding Always Kills
Nothing Else Takes Us To Get These Thrills

Spirit Of The Wheel
Wheels Of Fire Burn The Night
Ride Across The Sky
Wheels Of Fire Burning Bright
We Live To Ride

Blood And Thunder On The Road
My Heart Is Pounding
My Blood Is Nitroglycerin
I'm Fire
Burning, Burning, Burning, Burning
Ready To Explode
Don't Want Nothing Left Of Me To Scrape Off The Road

Spirit Of The Wheel
Wheels Of Fire Burn The Night
Ride Across The Sky
Wheels Of Fire Burning Bright

We Live To Ride

Clouds Of Smoke
Tires Screaming
Fire In My Hair
Blown Into A Thousand Pieces
Scattered Everywhere
Fast, Burn, Burning, Faster
Wanna Take A Ride
Spirit Of The Wheel
Wheels Of Fires Ride

Spirit Of The Wheel
Wheels Of Fire Burn The Night

Well, I think some rock/metal would genuinely fit the character, I mean, Ghost Rider's essentially a biker from hell! Biker and hell are synonymous with rock and metal. But as for an orchestral composer, I can't think of that many notable composers, excluding the high profile guys. Mark Isham, who did the first Blade is pretty good.

<Well, I think some rock/metal would genuinely fit the character, I mean, Ghost Rider's essentially a biker from hell!>

That's true, in that case maybe they should try something different and get a famous musician... I'd like to see someone like Zakk Wilde or the guitarist(s) from Danzig, even though I know it'll never happen... but I can dream.

I think I would prefer the Beltrami/Manson approach, but yeah, I could definitely get down with Reznor.
Or even Reznor/Beltrami. One of them would give the music a hard edge, one gives give the music a more traditional edge. It would be prefect for a movie like this.

Reznor/Beltrami....nicely done! Only a few weeks til the new NIN album, by the way *rubs hands together*. But yeah, that's a good thought, I almost forgot about Manson/Beltrami in Resident evil. Other rockers who could team up with Beltrami... Maybe Rob Zombie, Jonathan Davis possibly, even though some of Korn's new stuff is starting to get a bit repetitive, hmm... somebody who could give the movie that feeling it deserves, I think I read somewhere this is supposed to be in the tone of Mad Max.

Music Supervisor... great more nu-metal rock from the soundtrack song jammed in the middle of the movie (hopefully not in climatc action sequences) like in daredevil, but it makes more sense in this one. For the score, Beltrami seems like a good choice; Elfman not so much, unless he does something like the costume montage in SM-1.

04-29-2005, 08:22 PM
Yeah, I wasn't too down with all that nu-metal in Daredevil, it was just so unfitting for me. It would work a lot more in something like this, but I hope they merge a composer and a musician like we've been talking about. I'm sitting here listening to the latest album by Danzig, and it would be really cool if he joined up with Marco Beltrami (one of my favorite composers if you haven't guessed); his music somehow seems fitting for a story about a biker from hell.

Funny, I was just thinking that, BF. Ghost Rider's a biker, so you've just got to have something rocky and edgy in there. Out of all superheroes, I think he's more suited than most to having guitars and drums backing him. But I would like to have someone who can mix orchestral and rock doing the score. Reznor can certainly do the angry, tortured soul bit in his music.

Actually Rush has a song called "Ghost Rider" that is excellent, especially the live version from Rush in Rio. Its based on the Neil Peart book by the same title about his epic jouney by motorcycle across North America after the death of his wife and daughter. It would fit well with ol' flamin' skull head though.

Listening to the 'Rush - Ghost Rider' song now..

"Like a Ghost Rider... keep on riding... Shadows on the road behind... nothing can stop you now... shadows on the road ahead... racing against the night.."

Pretty good song, although I'd like a cover more.. the singer's voice was a little whiny to me.. and some of the lines were hard to understand.... but overall, with a more hard rock feel, I think it can be an option for the movie. The guitar part was very cool though... and just right.

and now.. 'Allman Brothers - Midnight Rider'...

Definitely has the Lynyrd Skynyrd southern rock feel and a pretty cool bar / jukebox song.. Not sure if it would be good for the Ghost Rider movie, but it's a good song though.

'Johnny Cash - Ghost Riders in the Sky'...

This song seems to be about a horse.. "With hooves made of steel.. a bolt of fear went through him, as they thundered through the sky.. Yi-pi-i-o..."

Good song, but the Ghost Rider title.. definitely nothing to do with a motorcycle..

Well I think that "Midnight Rider" would be the best because it's one of the all time great classic Rock songs that most older people know but few young non sophisticated people do. Those tend to make for great covers that can be big hits like the Ataris "Boys of Summer" or something like that.

Even most older people probably don't know that Rush song.

Slightly OT, regarding the score...

I almost wish John Carpenter were attached to GR. Listen to the Vampires score(particularly 'Padre's Wood', which played during the ending credits), and tell me something similar wouldn't be pretty cool, considering Ghost Rider is set in Texas/the Southwest.

I may get flamed, but I think it would fit.

As far as a Midnight Rider cover, the Gone Jackals would be interesting. They're in that same vein, a southwest blues/biker band. They did the soundtrack for the "Full Throttle" game, if anyone remembers that.

Anyway, my 2 cents:ghost:

Maybe a mixture of some of the classic hard rock like "Back in Black" and/or "Back in the Saddle" "Train kept a' Rollin" - I even keep thinking "Born to be Wild" but that might be over used at this point, and mix with some of the new hard rock like someone mentioned the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, some of that was good.

I heard from an interview with Avi Arad that the movie is going to have a Southern Rock soundtrack. It sounds like it could work for this movie. It might just be one of the best ideas for it (Especially if ZZ Top or Skynard are on it!)

Still, with this being Ghost Rider and all, I thought it might be better if it had a Classic Metal soundtrack. Have Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and/or Black Sabbath on it. I thought that would be awesome!

I don't think it'll be that bad. I don't think you realize how great a genre of music Southern Rock is. It's got that bluesy honky tonk bar room sound that goes along with the biker culture that Johnny Blaze is supposed to be a part of. Sure, I don't exactly want the soundtrack to be all Southern Rock all the time, but I wouldn't mind having it be part Southern Rock/ part Metal. Have a mixture of both styles. Have ZZ Top, Judas Priest, Lynard Skynard, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, CCR, 38 Special, Motorhead, AC/DC, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Foghat, Sammy Hagar, Boston, Metallica (A classic Metallica tune), Montrose, SteppenWolf and maybe Black Foot on it.

By Southern Rock I'm thinking they're talking about some Rockabilly. Not banjos and washboards. I think rockabilly is amazing anyways, if I'm right I'll be completely satisfied. Just a thought here..
Spiderman: another great score. The theme is very rhytmical, inspired from the way spiders move.
Batman Begins: kickass score. The theme is very rhytmical, taken i think from the flapping of bats wings(and very, very similar in sound choices with the one of SM).
Ghost Rider: kickass imposing rhythm even there, in form of the engine at minimum.
If this relation works, we're gonna have a great movie and a great score.

Any ideas on what the soundtrack will be like? I was lucky enough to catch the trailer while it was online, and I noticed what sounded like some awfull butt-rock. I hope, as this is being billed as a biker/western, there is a mix of epic Morricone esque scoring, and sweet ass old metal. (i.e. Slayer, Motorhead, Metallica.) I've been waiting for this movie since I was about 7 years old, and so far it looks pretty badass. I just hope they don't ruin it with a soundtrack like Daredevil or Punisher. (i.e. Evanescence, Disturbed, or any other crappy butt-rock bands.)

ps. It would be a sin if Suicide's "Ghost Rider" wasn't in there somewhere. I'd even settle for Rollin's version.

A little tidbit of infor posted by MSJ today about the soundtrack in this thread; http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=188064

-- Avi Arad called the line up for the soundtrack "Southern rock". However, many of us can't picture Ghost Rider pummeling demons to the tune of Lynard Skynard. I think it’s safe to say fans have always associated GR with hard rock/metal. To give us an idea where this soundtrack is going could you give us some bands you were interested in getting for the album?

The more I work on the film, the more it feels like score rather than songs. I made the mistake of too many songs in DD, and although it made for a great album, I think it hurt the movie. When I mention Southern Rock, I don't mean classic rock, I mean what would today's version of that style of music be like? I don't want this to be another generic hard rock soundtrack movie. GR deserves better than that. Southern Rock was an idea that came out of the Western feel of the movie. That all being said, the only songs I'm cutting to so far in the temp mix are ACDC and ZZ Top!

InVictus
08-06-2005, 11:55 AM
I think score works better than song, it merges better with the scenes. With songs it's an very difficult thing to do, since you have to adapt mostly the scene to the music, with score it's more of a parallel development.

Mr Nick
08-06-2005, 01:30 PM
I'm glad he's cutting down on the songs too. I'd imagine there'll be a single released to promote the film though like they did with the Spidey movies.

Hmm. Which band would be best suited to serenade Ghost Rider?

Metallica maybe? Their MI2 song was sound.

Agreed. I was watching Vh1's Metal Mania earlier today, and Motorhead's "Iron Fist" came on, and i thought how cool it would be if that song or one of their others made it onto the soundtrack.

But no, we'll most likely get more of that "Butt Rock" you mentioned, unfortunately.

Alright I have 10 choices for songs that could be used but by all means check out the bands in general and then you may find another song that would be better!

10: Hell Brigade - any song from their ep. www.myspace.com/hellbrigade

09: Madball - Look My Way (new york hardcore legends)

08: Agnostic Front - Peace (Godfather's of hardcore and meaningful lyrics)

07. E.Town Concrete - "Blood" or "Baptism" My boys representin' New Jersey!!

06. Madball - HeavenHell or anything of the album "Legacy"

05: Bury Your Dead - Top Gun

04: Agents Of Man - Death Of Me

03: Hatebreed - Smash My Enemies

02: Hatebreed : Final Prayer

01. Sinai Beach : Necessary Bloodshed

Funny.
I was thinking on Brad Fiedel these days. Terminator and Fright Night are cool scores. But in the 21st century, a movie about a dark black leather flaming head anti-hero demon, i donīt know.
It must be something new, modern, hardcore vibe, u know.
I really hope that David Arnold fill these needs, do justice to our demon.
Sure, iīd love to see a music scorer like Jonathan Davis ( Korn lead singer and scorer of Queen of the Damned ) or Trent Reznor ( NIN ).
Would be my choices, for sure.
Maybe Marilyn Manson, for something even harder.
But iīm not make the choices. Just pray for a really cool work, like us all, i think.
So, welcome Mr.Arnold. Welcome to our world, the Spirit of Vengeance world.
Score him hard. Make us proud.

I always envisioned Hell being an experimental noise musician's wet dream, feeling artists like Merzbow, KK Null, Government Alpha, Macronympha or Whitehouse would fit a scene in Hell properly. After finding out Merzbow did a song titled Ghost Rider back in 1996 which is caustic, abrasive and violent, I feel it would fit the movie nicely. But then again I'm sure many people would disagree.

But overall, I would greatly prefer a score over anything else. Soundtracks are nice, but an original score brings a uniqueness to a movie, what I think this movie can use.

But if we were talking about bands/songs we'd want to hear on a Ghost Rider soundtrack, I would have to say:
Merzbow - Ghost Rider
Entombed - To Ride, Shoot Straight, And Speak the Truth or Like This With The Devil
And anything from The Obsessed. Southern Fried Doom Metal.

FlameHead

I agree with you about the score. I'd prefere to hear more of a emotional score than a 90 rock video. I was happy to hear MSJ say that he learnt from DD about using so much music and while there will be some songs, most of it is score.

I respectfully disagree, my dear followers of the Spirit of Vengeance.
Jesus, i love soundtracks. Own myself a lot of them, DD included.
And of course, is one of the weakest of them all. Bad pop songs, too many songs. Some good stuff ( Fuel, Evanascence and Rob Zombie ), but thatīs all. So little for a 20 songs soundtrack.
The Punisher was a little better, but again not a classic. And it has 2 albums, the other include only the scores.
I think thatīs the idea for GR.
I expect this movie for so long, and a cool, hardcore soundtrack is part of this dream, yes sir.
And no, my friends, not every songs soundtrack are the same of DD, The Punisher or Elektra.
I have in my collection exemples of a good and classic soundtracks:
-The Crow
-Queen of the Damned
-Judgement Night
-Spawn
So, thatīs not impossible to make a good soundtrack.
And why not 2 albums, like they did with the Punisher movie?
One scores, one songs. Happiness for all the fans. Cool items to my collection. My future GR museum.
I hope they did, really do.

Just because the soundtrack is a nice addition to your collection, and I know how a soundtrack can add to a collection, I have a few myself, it can still take away from a movie.

I saw the Fantastic Four a month ago, and as much as my friend and i enjoyed the movie, the songs chosen for it just took away from the film. I felt the same about Punisher, Blade 2 and 3, and Daredevil. They put too damn much into the music themselves and did not find music that really fit the movie properly, taking away from the film.

The soundtracks have a tendency to stand alone (even though I wouldn't buy them) but really took away from the film. That is why GR needs to be orchestrated.

On the orchestration, I would like to hear a southern or cowboy sound to the score of the movie. I think it would fit the movie better than just a straight orchestra scrore.

Mr Nick
