Samus vs. Master Chief: Who Wins?

Her "lock on" can miss, and does so frequently in the game, her scan for weakness would reveal nothing on MC, and he would be blasting away at her while she did this anyways, her ball mode is useless, and her superbombs don't exactly have that large a blast-radius, a simple jump backwards would be enough to dodge them, without even needing to let up on the Battlerifle. And melee combat is dependent on MC being able to close whatever distance is between them, not on either of them running out of ammo.

Have you seen how slow that Ice moves in MP? The only time I used it was on those giant lava-serpent looking things, because they couldn't dodge and I figured they were weak to it. I could dodge the Ice Beam, MC would have no trouble at all with it. The Plasma is the real danger, because unlike the pussy covenant weapons, that stuff looks like real plasma, as in "core of the sun" plasma. Green metal isn't going to stop that stuff.

I can have it both ways, so long as everyone has a good understanding of the word "context". Samus being hurt by beetles says nothing about who's playing, but rather that she can be hurt, badly, by MC's weaponry. And how are you judging strength by the way? Because the strongest creature in the entire series seems to be that giant dragon like creature (not ridley) in Super Metroid, and his biggest feat is smashing some rocks. The fact is, while they may be stronger, they rarely if ever attack her head on in melee combat, but instead they shoot energy at her or something. The melee won't do jack argument is bullcrap.

If you somehow get special ending you get to see Samus and Master Chief make bebbies, then play as the bebbies and take over the world. Prove thats any weapon he's got is more powerful than the plasma cannon and I'll concede. She takes hits from that sort of attack without going down. Give her all her spare tanks and she can take a crap load of hits unlike MC. Who once he energuy bar is down can get killed with a few sucessive hits

The whole gameplay argument works both ways, unless you can give evidence that these insects are extremely weak and their attacks pathetic. Tehcnically the ONLY reason why you could flip a tank over in the game was so you could get BACK IN THE VEHICLE. Not to illustrate super human strength. After all those grunts are nowhere near as strong as MC yet he doesn't kill them instantly because as you said gameplay mechanics

Being Big doesn't equate to being slow. Even spider-man gets hit by a sentinel sometimes. Besides being hit depends on the player NOT the character. The fact that Samus isn't dead story wise indicates that she rarely gets hit:up:

With armor I'd say it'd probably be a draw or something. Samus might have all the super armor with a bunch of stuff in it, but Master Chief has military training, augmentations to increase his already extraordinary reflexes and strength; Then on top of that Cortana, and the MJOLNIR armor to increase it further as well as a shield. Samus would be blasting away as the Spartan would be dodging all kinds of garbage while trying to figure out the best way to attack. Then after grueling hours of dodging, shooting, and hitting, they'll agree on a draw, strip down, and make babies.

Of course I am not basing this on the games really but on what would happen if they actually met up where they are actually real people. That'd be awesome. I'd get their autographs.

In all seriousness. What does Master Chief have going for him? His suit is just body armor and a shield, and he has super strength. He also only has two guns. For conversations' sake, a rifle and a pistol.

Samus' armor can be expanded to near invincibility with enough energy tanks. She also has hundreds of missiles, bombs, super missiles, and many different energy weapons. Moreover she's the toughest bounty hunter in the galaxy, and has made a career out of keeping men at bay. Assuming Master Chief has a penis, he'll be chasing after Samus like the deprived school boy he is, and she'll blast his ass.

Master Chief also has super amazing wicked fast reflexes, and is impervious to secks or secksshual needs. :o

You've also done virtually nothing to back this claim up, like many of the Samus supporters in this thread, save for bringing up advanced technology (Where? I certainly don't see any) and exagerrating the size/strength of her enemies (Sorry guys, I don't know where you live, but those housecat sized beetles that come out of the ground are hardly the size of a house). MC is virtually universally acknowledged as being the better combatant, the only thing in question here is the technological advantage, and the only place where Samus really wins there (in an area that would give her an advantage, ie not the ability to turn into a ball on demand) is her weaponry, with the Plasma Cannon being the only truly useful option.

Her energy projectiles aren't painfully easy to dodge. You yourself have acknoledged the greatness of the plasma beam several times. I'd like to see MC dodge that. The missles are pretty fast too, especially when you combine them with her electric beam, which is pretty much like shooting lighting. If MC could dodge lightning, I'll let you have this point.

Too bad that it does utterly nothing for her unless there are some spider-tracks laying around, and even then, she just deprives herself of time she could be using to shoot back. Her bombs are embarrassingly low-yield, and her superbombs follow the tradition as well. They blink, they release a pretty yellow light, the end. A stroke victim could evade them.

The morph ball would be strickly for evading and running away. That's what I used it for in MP, along with the spider tracks of course. Like I posted earlier, that little f###er would be hard to hit, so I don't see it being entirely useless.

4) An upgradeable power suit? Really? Hey, wait a second, I think you forgot to explain how that helps her. The ability to survive Phazon radiation and to be able to move in water unhindered isn't exactly a combat advantage, and her armor can be penetrated by a light touch from a pet-sized beetle. The ballistic weaponry of the future will have little to no problems cutting through it.

I'll give you this point. Upgrading her power suit really wouldn't be usefull agianst MC. Though she does have other upgrades besides the power suits, such as energy and missle upgrades. Let's see a wussy pistol beat a missle or a beam.

5) She can jump a lot, usually in a very linear manner (judging from Super Metroid, since this feature was absent in MP), not only depriving her of the ability to fire back, but making her yet easier to hit. Not the greatest feature of her suit in a fight.

I would define jumping alot as good dodging skills. After all, if you've ever used a gun, you'd know that it's harder to hit a moving target. And she can still aim and shoot in the air. I think it's this feature that would be one of her greatest strengths in a fight.

6) She can run no faster than MC can in MP, and she can't turn while she is running at greater speeds, meaning she would run directly at MC, making it easier for him to hit her, and her increased speeds slamming into the bullets would just make it yet easier for them to penetrate her armor and start shredding organs and shattering bones. Running away is the only realistic use of that ability here.

Agian, as mentioned earlier, Samas has a super-speed-dash type move in Metroid Fusion, alowing her to charge and destroy thick walls. It's the whole moving target harder to hit point. And, according to physics, her moving fast would actually sap speed from the bullets (which probably couldn't even get past her armor if she was still), so they probably wouldn't have the velocity to penetrate.

And those are the reasons Samus would win.

Unless I'm mistaken, MP takes place right after Super Metroid. I guess you could sort of call it a prequel. Metroid Fusion is that last, or latest, story in the Metroid Saga. So yeah, Samus did commit genocide :).

Metroid. Samus destory Zebes, and the metroids there, escaping just before the explosion.

Metroid Prime. She makes a pit stop at a space station in the Zebes system, and accidentally gets badly damaged, and lands on Talon IV, etc etc.

Metroid 2: The Return of Samus. Realizing the dangers of Metroids, Samus has to go exterminate them. She keeps the one baby survivor.

Super Metroid. The Last Metroid is in captivity. The Galaxy is at peace. And then we find out Zebes is rebuilt, Ridley kidnaps the last Metroid. Samus finishes the job and exterminates the last Metroids.

Metroid Fusion. I forget the story to this one and how it fits into the series.

Bottom line, Samus has bigger balls than MC, and she's a she.

Did you even PLAY Metroid Prime?! If a space station exploded around you, and you didn't have an escape plan it'd mess you up too. Hell, MC barely got out of Halo, and he blew it up himself!


He was supposed to get out of there with Foehammer but she go hit and the Pelican went down. He then, within seconds, had a back up plan to escape. It's not like he wasn't prepared at all to get out of there.

Again, I could be mistaken, but I believe Metroid Fusion deals is about what happens to the ecosystem now that Metroids have been eliminated. The Metroids were the main predator of a parasite called X. Samus gets infected with X, so they inject Metroid blood into her or something, and now she's able to absorb the X to regain power and health.

I'm not a big fan of this one. It's too big of a change.
