How impossible would this be to accomplish? Do you think we could do it? The Marvel Cronology website gives us a great start but there is a year or two in the middle that they miss.

I desperatly need to fill that gap. Think you guys can help? I'm more concerned with Dan's life ranther than Blaze, but I'll get to him as well. First thing's first, ya know?

By the way, if you haven't been there yet, check out the Marvel Chronology Project (http://www.chronologyproject.com/). It's great for that stuff you just didn't know.

Thanks for the link, Flamehead.

Yeah, it could be done, with a little time and effort....

Excellent... I hope people are willing to put in the time and effort. I'll make a list of what we know when I get home tonight. Then, we'll go from there/

Okay folks, I took a trip to
Marvel Chronology Project website (http://www.chronologyproject.com/g.htm#RIDER) and got this list of Ghost Rider (Dan Ketch days) appearances... in order of appearance. They say there is a couple of years gap on their website and its apparant from this list.

I've taken the liberty of converting them from code to title for easier reference.

Ghost Rider, -1
Marvels, 4
Ghost Rider v2, 1-6
Fantastic Four, 347-349
Marvel Comics Presents, 64-71
Ghost Rider v2, 7-9
Thor, 439-430
Ghost Rider v2, 10-12
Dr. Strange Sorcerer Supreme, 28
Moon Knight v3, 25
Spider-Man, 6-7
Ghost Rider v2, 13-17
Cloak and Dagger v3, 17-18
Quazar, 22-24
Damage Control v3, 4
Punisher War Journal, 29-30
DareDevil, 294-295
Ghost Rider v2, 18
Marvel Comics Presents, 90-97
Hearts of Darkness (GN)
Ghost Rider v2, 19-20
Spider-Man, 18, 22-23
DeathLok, 9-10
Ghost Rider v2, 21
Sleepwalker, 11
Ghost Rider v2, 22-23
Marvel Comics Presents, 98-118
Ghost Rider v2, 24-25
X-Men, 8
Ghost Rider v2, 26
X-Men, 9
Ghost Rider v2, 27-28
Spirits of Vengeance, 1
Ghost Rider v2, 29
Morbius, 1
Spirits of Vengeance, 2
DarkHold, 1
Spirits of Vengeance, 3
Nightstalkers, 1
Ghost Rider v2, 31-32
Dr. Strange Sorcerer Supreme, 50
DarkHawk, 22
Spirits of Vengeance, 4
Web of Spider-Man, 95
Spirits of Vengeance, 5
Web of Spider-Man, 96
Spirits of Vengeance, 6
Wolverine v2, 89
DOUBLE EDGE: OMEGA
DC VS. MARVEL, 1-4
OVER THE EDGE, 4
Ghost Rider: CrossRoads (GN)
OVER THE EDGE, 9

HERE IS THE GAP apparantly. The last Ghost Rider, v2 issue that we see up top is 32. The next we see is issue 70. A lot happens between there and I know it doesn't all happen in the pages of Ghost Rider.

If you can help me name all the comics he's appeared in, we could probably put them in order and close the gap.

Anyway, it continues after that...

Marvel Fanfare v2, 3
Ghost Rider v2, 85
DareDevil, 372
Spider-Man, 93
ThunderBolts, 57

So, the last GRv2 we see there is 85 and we know it ends at 93 so... is there anything missing?

Help please...

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, but I'm a big fan of GR... I have some info that might help.

This seems to be unlikely:
Ghost Rider v2, 22-23
Marvel Comics Presents, 98-118
Ghost Rider v2, 24-25

I do not have MCP 98-118, but I am currently re-reading all of my GR v2, and the end of 23 is GR interrogating Snowblind in the hospital. The action picks up on 24 with a slight gap (so it is possible that this is broken up) but it would make sense for there to be no interruption because GR is so hot on the trail for Deathwatch. Just something I thought should be said.

Also, I found this special with Ghost Rider and Cable. Kind of a weird combo, especially because there is no title page or placement for the writer and the artist. Really weird for marvel to do, but the date is marked as September, and the the only ads on the back and front cover are dated 1992. Also, don't forget the second Hearts of Darkness GN The Dark Design, and the last GR graphic novel (to my knowledge), Ghost Rider Crossroads. I hope this helps.

Yes, I mean the first one that you posted. However, after doing a little research, it turns out that this is just a collection of MCPs. I'm not sure of what numbers exactly, but I believe it to be 90-97 (I think). So I suppose I mean both of the issues you depict. As far as being any good...it was sort of ok. I didn't care for the art, at least as far as "'ol ghostie" was concerned, and I thought that the story was just sort of strange and locating it beneath Cypress Hills Cemetary just made the place that much more cluttered with supernatural stuff going on.

But, if you don't take my word for it, you can get it pretty cheap in that collected form. I think we can all agree that the best GRs are 1-25 (which are simply the best). I think up after 25 and until 50, the story is still alright, but noticebly going downwards due to over commercialism that marvel was really into back in those days. And after 50 the story just isn't good, except for a few issues here and there. I do like the last 5 or so issues, when we finally start learning about Noble Kale and about the time Javier Saltares comes back on board to end it. Its too bad it ended when it did, because it was actually becoming decent again. Oh well, I like Ennis, so the upcoming mini should be good, maybe it will turn into a series. Sorry, it looks like I started rambling....

Actually i'm only getting into GR so some of the stuff you said didn't mean anything to me as i am learning from guys like flame in these threads and it certainly sounds like you are another excellent addition to the GR forum:)

AS for the ennis mini,I like his Punisher work so it should be good.
Do you have a date when it starts?

I don't know when Ennis will start the new GR series, but some other guys are talkin about the Rider:

It certainly does.

I see your point with it not being likly that the MCP run is found between issue 23 and 24 but, I do trust the Cronology people from the Marvel Chronology website. Plus, there is just no other place in that area that the MCP run can be placed. That gap you speak of is when the story has to take place. I have the run btw and it actually works well. It's nice to have my Ghost Rider run in order of appearance... though I still have a few more to go yet.

The dates on the MCP run aren't by month because they published them twice a month. It was released bi-weekly and therefor only has the year. This is my specualation anyway...

The Heart's of Darkness and Crossroads GN's are in the chronology there but the other is not. I don't have them yet so I can't really place them in the correct spot. Do you have any specific info for us. Perhaps we can work together and help the Marvel Chrono people out a bit...

So, that's two that aren't listed here ... any more?

It's issues 98-118 actually... and welcome to the hype, btw. I hope you visit out little Ghost Rider home here often.

Thanks for the welcome! Right now I don't have time to look and to post my entire collection (I will do it later), but I will try and name what I remember off the top of my head right now, out of order.

-The last 15 or 20 GR v1.
-GR -1
-The Storms 3 part mini, kinda messed up the already convoluted story even more
-GR v.2 fully collected (1-93)
-GR v2 Annuals 1 and 2
-The complete Siege of Darkness (it crossed over with the various Midnight Sons titles, Dr. Strange, MCP, stuff like that)
-That Cable special I mentioned earlier
-The web of spider man that fits in with the Spirits of Venom storyline
-complete spirits of vengeance (1-23)
-complete Midnight Sons Unlimited (1-9). The most difficult to place in the timeline, I think I finally figured out where 1 and 2 could go, 4 is part of the Siege of Darkness, and Ghost Rider doesn't even appear in 8.
-Hearts of Darkness
-Dark Design
-Ghost Rider: Crossroads

I post this so if anyone has questions regarding certain issues, I hope I can help, and so you know what I basically have regarding the timeline. Plus, I am at the point where I don't have every single GR Appearance, but I have everything to make the regular storyline flow smoothly. It's hard for me to be modest about it, but I am proud of it (thank you eBay!!)

KnightsPast
11-29-2004, 09:10 PM
oh yeah, and i also have the fully collected blaze 4 issue mini and the ongoing that lasted for 12 issues.

FlameHead
11-30-2004, 04:50 AM
Awesome collection you have there. Although my collection is very similar, you have a few issues that I don't have. That makes me jealous! hehe.

Most of the ones that you've listed are already in the timeline that I've posted (which only deals with the 2nd Ghost Rider, btw). It's a Chronological listed appearance list featuring the Dan Ketch/Noble Kale hero. Blaze has his own timeline, which I haven't even begun to think about it.

I do have a question about the Storms issues that you're talking about? What is that exactly? Is that the, Before the Fantastic Four mini?...

KnightsPast
11-30-2004, 05:58 PM
Yes, this is Before the Fantastic 4: The Storms. It was a three issue mini that was related to the other Before the 4 stories (they did one for Ben Grimm and Reed Richards). In it, Johnny and Susanne are just kids, and their friends dad was spontaneously combusted while researching a medallion that he had, the Medallion of Z (I wonder what the Z could stand for...). Some stuff happens involving being chased by Dracula's minions and eventually 'Z' makes an appearance. The uncle of their friend is mixed in it all because he is an archealogist Indiana Jones rip off sort of guy, and he becomes the temporary host for Z. It was really dumb because it sort of kinda doesn't work out with GR -1 issue, because the wrecked car that became Z's motorcycle is dumped in Cypress Hills Cemetary, and because it really implies that Noble Kale is all bs. The way I look at it is that if The Storms is taken as true continuity, then the medallion could bring forth Zarathos or Noble Kale because Zarathos was attached to the medallion of power. Vengeance Unbound deals with it well, and this is sort of where I'm getting it from. I don't know anymore, the GR timeline just makes my head hurt......

FlameHead
12-01-2004, 11:52 PM
Yeah... I understnad that. It's pretty detailed and drawn out involving way too many beings.

Zarathos wasn't bound to the medallion though. Zarathos only came into the picture because of Mephisto who used him as a pawn in his game with Blaze. Ghost Rider 1, 2 and Vengeance are the medallion guys.

So, is Ghost Rider -1 the story told in the Storms story? Or does the GR-1 fall after that?

KnightsPast
12-02-2004, 12:02 AM
Well, 'bound' isn't exactly what I meant. Just sort of related to it. Vengeance Unbound has this to say:

"Though not stated, it can be surmised that the spirit of Zarathos, while not in use by Mephisto, could be called forth due to his former imprisonment in the Medallion of Power"

It probably would have been much easier if Mackie had just made GR 2 Zarathos, or had wrapped up the real story before he left the title. I think if we can figure out GR's real story and continuity then we could figure out anybody's...

KnightsPast
12-02-2004, 12:03 AM
Oh, by the way, anyone see the new look of Vengeance Unbound? Spiffy!!

FlameHead
12-02-2004, 11:41 PM
Spiffy indeed. That site has a lot of information but it's not updated as much as MM's site; the true source of for Ghost Rider stuff! (Nice plug eh double M...)

That former imprissonment they speak of. Is that something referring to his time trapped inside Blaze's body or something before that even happened. What I mean is was Mephisto able to bond Zarathos to Blaze because he was previously trapped in the Medallion or are they referring to his time in Blaze's body being trapped in the medallion.

Okay, I spent the last many hours trying to add to this list and place them in order. It's much more difficult that one would think, by the way. Ghost Rider is all over the place, especially during this time period... Crazy.

Anyway, in post number 4 of this thread, I posted what the Marvel Chronology website had for Ghost Rider so far but, as you all must know, they are missing quite a few entries. I've marked the section blue in post number 4 that I'm updating here now.

This is not official. This is the best I can do right now. I hope we can discuss this and hopefully work it all all out perfectly. Here goes.

Awesome! I'll defintaly put those in place as you see it.

If MCP ever updates the character in a different way, we'll have to sit down and analyse it. I've already changed things from how they list it because I think it reads better.

Thanks for the information.

Bump mainly...

I realized this week after reading these comics that the Fantastic Four 347-349 &
Marvel Comics Presents 64-71 entries are mixed up. They may have to be that way to keep fantastic four or wolverine in order but it doesn't make sense for Ghost Rider. In FF, he works side by side with Wolverine but in the MCP, it's Wolvies and Ghost Riders first meeting. Therefor, FF has to go after the MCP comics... which is what I'll be doing when I finally have everything that I need to place them correctly.

Man... I just bought the Cloak and Dagger comics (17, 18) and realized after reading 17 That Ghost Rider doesn't make an appearance in that one at all. The most there is in the comic is at the end it says "Next, Ghost Rider...". I guess it's still worth it to have it part of the collection because it's' the first part of the story... but, why is it considered to be an appearance, I don't know?

Except I only have about 10 of the MCP. I would buy one of those when I'd go to pick up the GR title, but after a/10 issues I was like man this really really sucks:down sam keith's GR was dreadful and the stories were trash imo. It takes a lot for me to not buy anything to do with GR, but MCP I could not stomach on any level.

Definitely a yes to both of those. He has a little one page, 4 panel story entitled "What if Ghost Rider hit a puddle" in the What If. As for Marvels #4, he is in it as Dan Ketch at a very young age. It's a small cameo of him delivering a newspaper.

Speaking of GRīs appearences, did you guys ever read the Superman/Batman # 21?
The Worldīs Finest fight against a hero team of another reallity who are a DC version of the Avengers, specially the Ultimates version.
But the villain of the first page, fighting with Batman is the ATOMIC SKULL.
Heīs got a new look and now rides a bike ( ! ), very, but very similar with our Demon.
I took that as a "homage" of Loeb & McGuinnes, as well as the reference when a member of the team, named Robot ( the Iron Man version ), said "heīs not like our Phantasmagoric Rider ( !??? ); his powers are atomic, and not satanic".
Damn cool.

Guys, there is a great new database online that I've been playin' with for the past few weeks. I think I learn't about it here but, I'm not sure. It's all human edited and anyone can join to help out with the multitude of information. What's best about it is that it's a collection tracker as well. " I donīt know where i am. I went to the desert on an old bus with black windows."
" The Quentin Circus, the last american horror show, thereīs rumors of paranormal activities."
" The stage is on the ground. Ugly people performing for an even uglier audience."

" Silence takes the place when the main attraction approaches."
" Saint John or Blaze, they call him- many scars on the face, zombie eyes."

" Like the fingers cannot obey the brain."
" Blaze, they call him."
" Saint John. I didnīt notice. Didnīt put the pieces together."
" The name, the scars, the eyes."
" The smell of gasoline and the lighter."

Pic 3:

Is Ghost Rider in Captain America 191 or The Incredible Hulk 209?

Iv'e been trying to figure this out, along with some other titles that I'm not sure if is an actual appearance or if it was a dream sequence or marvel stamp. I have never seen either issue beyond their covers (no GR there), but here's the descriptions:
Captain America (1968 1st Series) 191
Nick Fury, Ghost Rider, and the Trapster are all here for "The Trial of the Falcon!" Script by Tony Isabella and Bill Mantlo, pencils by FrankRobbins, inks by D. Bruce Berry. Iron Man cameo. Sal Buscema/Frank Giacoia cover.
Incredible Hulk (1962-1999 1st series) 209
"The Absorbing Man is out for Blood!" Guest-starring Doc Samson. Flashback cameos of Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, Black Panther, Human Torch, and Thor. Story by Len Wein. Art by Sal Buscema and Joe Staton. Crusher Creel has come for the Hulk's hide. Can even the mightiest mortal hope to defeat an opponent who can absorb the very properties of his surroundings? Plus, who is the Absorbing Man's mysterious benefactors? They've been behind the events in Marvel Team-Up #15, 20, and 26. 32 pages.

-------------------------
Avengers (1963-1996 1st Series) 142, 143, 151, 214
Captain America (1968-1996 1st Series) 191
Fantastic Four (1961-96 1st Series) 236

I believe the Avengers 142 and 143 appearances are of the Western Ghost Rider/Carter Slade. But I'm not sure yet. I'll be getting them soon.

The Captain America appearance is a one page recap of GR's fight with Trapster in GR #13, which leads into Trapster's role in the Cap story.

Ghostie is standing among a whole horde of heroes on the cover of Fantastic Four 236. Just glancing through the book, the cover seems to be the extent of his involvement.

The Ghost Rider in Avengers # 142 and 143 are indeed the Phantom Rider/Carter Slade, but I still recommend picking them up. They're part of a truly classic Avengers story where Hawkeye and Thor travel back in time and team up with Marvel's old west heroes to stop Kang from conquering the 19th century. Plus, it's by Steve Englehart and George Perez!

I have those two, and though it's a continuing story through the Megamorphs' mini comics, I don't really want to deal with getting the ones in between ('cause these things aren't cheap, and the mini comics are the only part I'm interested in) if Ghostie's not in them.

I've compiled these from 3 different lists I have printed, so it's a mess
I thought I'd let you guys let me know what's correct and what's not... :)
One's I don't have, and haven't seen (and don't think I've seen them mentioned elsewhere in the thread):

Avengers #118 (he's in one panel?)
Avengers #151
Avengers #27 (New Avengers? Or is this the Reprint Edition with #151?)
Avengers #A11 (vs. the Defenders, was GR a member at this point?)
Code of Honor #4: Sirens
Fantastic Four Roast #1 (I have no idea...yet another I have down)
Incredible Hulk #A7 (vs. the Champions?)
Marvel Fanfare v1 #10 (somewhere I had it down as having a GR appearance)
Marvel Graphic Novel #1 ("Death of Captain Marvel" cameo in 2 panels I think)
Marvel Masterpieces #2
Marvel Tales #254 ("Together Against The Orb" What is this a reprint of?)
Marvel Treasury Edition #13
My-Tech Wars #2 (I think Gr & Blaze are on 1 page)
Peter Parker: SPider-Man #30 (?)
Punisher Back To School Special #17 & #18 (in a flashback? supposedly...)
Shogun Warriors #7
Silver Surfer #A6 (flashback to death of Captain Marvel, GR cameo in 1 panel)
Silver Surfer v3 #14 (another flashback?)
Slapstick #4
SleepWalker Holiday Special (errr?)
Spectacular SPider-Man #36 (another I had down as having a GR appearance)
Spider-Man #90 (?)
Warlock & The Infinity Watch #20
What If? v1 #34
Wolverine #148
Wolverine Annual 2000

If all these ARE Ghost Rider appearances/cameos/whatever... Then all those, and maybe another dozen off one of the lists above, and I should have all the GR appearances that I know about... (Minus the MegaMorphs)

Anyways... I joined the site just for this thread... Help me out ! :)

Ghost Rider is most definitely NOT in those issues of Peter Parker you asked about. The only issues GR appeared in in that series (back when the book was just plain-old SPIDER-MAN) were # 6, 7, 18, 22, and 23.

Wolverine # 148, btw, is an alternate reality story about the "new" Fantastic Four (Wolverine, Ghost Rider, Hulk, & Spider-Man) that was part of the "Ages of Apocalypse" crossover.

That's how it's been for me. I thought I had almost everything before the movie came out, but I've spent almost $500 on Ghost Rider guest appearances and mini-comics and such since then. (Though it didn't help that I also branched out into 2099, old Western comics featuring the original Ghost Rider, and even Blazing Skull.)

I thought I finally had all things Blaze/Ketch Ghostie, then you made your post. :wow:

Looks like Ghostie is in the Exiles storyline "Bump in the Night" is #55, #56, #57... Anybody know anything about that?

It's Zarathos causing trouble in that storyline. I haven't read it yet, but I noticed that Johnny Blaze is also in a couple panels of #55. Don't know if he has more to do than that.

If you want to collect Zarathos appearances as well, he fights Spidey in The Amazing Spider-Man #274, and is in the 3 issue Dark Devil series.

I've got the Amazing Spider-man, but haven't found the Dark Devil issues yet, though I knew about them through Wiki.... Of course, I haven't put a lot of effort into looking for them yet either...

Dark Devil was also in the "Last Man Standing" storyline, but this was after he'd already assimilated his multiple aspects I think... I read the TPB and immediately forgot all the storyline...

After being spurred by the actual release of the movie to finish my list of appearances, here's what I've got... I've been working on this list off & on for over 15 years, and this list is combined from about 8 different lists I dug up (one off of paper that was so old that it was falling apart)...

I've tried to verify most of it based on either my own collection, some one else's, or websites that I would hope are correct (comicbookdb, some fan sites, some sale sites, etc)... Stupid me didn't save the links for half the sites so when it came time to combine all my various lists, I had a hard time verifying some of it...

Keep in mind, these issues came out of my inventory software and I try to mark all the Ghost Rider (all of them), Vengeance, Blade, Morbius, etc comics with a "Special" flag. I've tried to eliminate everything but the GR apperances from the list, but may have missed some... Plus, I make no distinction between any of the Ghost Riders in terms of this list. Sorry for the ugly formatting, but I couldn't put it in exactly as I had it since it would have been too many characters... That's also why I couldn't include my comments...

Marvel Swimsuit #1 & #2

Amazing list, Z!
Damn, i am so GR geek that i have since 1994 something i call GRVERSE, a collection of archives, researches, texts, pix, audio, video, EVERYTHING i found about the character.
First on paper, later on the computer. It is huge now, specially after the movie ( GR on screen was like a dream. i remember when i first saw something about a adaptation of the comic book, on the pages of the Comics Scene Magazine, back in 1990... ).
My list is very close to yours, with something new.
Beavis & Butthead... that i didn t know.
But very cool. These trades of info is precious amongst us fans.
And we have to keep these forums alive, until the sequel.
There s comics, merchandise, things to discuss.
GR4EVR!!!

Unfortunately and disappointingly, Ghostie was out of town when his teammates went up against Godzilla.

i got a couple comments about the new list

2099: Manifest Destiny: Ghost rider 2099 doesnt appear but Zero is in it in the Ghost works
Dc vs Marvel: Ghost rider is only in issue 1 fighting demon in one Panel
Double Edge Alpha: Ghost Rider does not appear in that issue
Shadow Riders: i know Ghost Rider is in issue 2 but he is not in issue 1. someone else can confirm 3 and 4
Warheads: Black Dawn: Ghost Rider is not in those 2 issues BUT their is a man who is exactly a Ghost Rider clone. hes a human with a basebal cap on but he rides an almost exxact replica of Ghosties Bike and he wields a chain.

While the Champions did appear in Avengers # 163 (well, Iceman, Herc, and the Widow anyway), the team actually broke up via flashback - with Blaze the first one to walk - in Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man # 17.

Just skimmed through them and didn't notice any stray GR panels.

I don't think he's in either.

I haven't seen this one mentioned for those collecting appearances of the Western Ghost Rider -
Incredible Hulk #265. (At that time he was being called Night Rider.)

Does Ghost Rider only appear in Spiderman hit and Run #3? is that supposed to be like a one shot or something?? and where does ghost rider "appear" in before the fantastic four: the storms??

Ghost Rider makes his appearance in The Storms # 3, possessing Max Parrish.

First off i think someone should change the name of this to ghost rider every apperance since its no on the GR fourms

and secondly i have found a panel with GR in Universe X 0. not much but Ghost Rider none the less

Ghostie is on the Marvel Monsters cover of this week's Gene Colan Tribute Book. Not sure if a GR comic is reprinted within.
