Okay, I know we talk about how cute Tom is and stuff but then we get feedback not always positive about our response to Tom. Well I just saw some more pics from that episode with Clark tied up and I just decided that we have to have a place to drool. Everyone is welcome but I am telling you now, shallowness will prevail here. So be shallow, drool, gush, moan, let it rip.
Cuz that man is too fine, fiercely fine, severly fine, throw your inhibitions away and go for it fine. So look at him tied up like that and climb aboard.... figuratively speaking and gush and drool.
Hey Tommy if you wouldn't mind would you post those pics you sent here for me.

I've got a TiVO too, but mine's an older one without a USB connector.
If you have one of the newer ones with a USB connector, you can hook up either a wireless USB adapter or a wired network (ethernet) USB adapter to it and connect to it from your computer.
Once it's connected, you can download the episodes to your PC and make DVD's or VCD's from them.
I think you can also connect it directly via the USB connector to a PC, the TiVO hard drive should show up as a mass storage device I believe - the hard drive in the TiVO box would then simply act like an external hard drive.
Check TiVO's web site, they should have information on how to connect the TiVO to your home network or direct connection to your PC.

what show is this fromJudging Amy... Well, the first three anyway.
That last shot with the chick in her undies I believe is a modeling shot.
Tom had an 6 episode character arc as Judge Amy's much younger boy toy love interest.
FYI - two eps that he was on are showing next Wednesday and Thursday, I believe they're both on at 11am Mountain (10am Pacific, Noon Central, etc...)
The first is titled "Adoption Day" and the other is "The Claw is our Master."
I don't know the show, but I did see the episode that the above caps are from.
Actually, when I saw that ep (probably end of August, beginning of September) it's what finally convinced me he was Superman material. He was really good and natural and totally not like Clark Kent.

Just put it right here in a link. Put a warning though about rating and I think we'll be safe. Triplet I'm pretty sure it's him becasue you see his face right before he turns. It wouldn't have saved him time to use a stand-in and he obviously doesn't mind being naked because he was in the cornfield. I tend to think that Crusade scene is Tom as well. It just looks so damn much like him, unlike the outtake from the lake scene in Slumber, where you can tell from the back that it's not Tom. And like Lara said, according to Erica D. (that lucky wench), it was Tom in the cornfield, with his cob covered, but not much else. If he would do that scene, I can't see him not doing the red cape scene.

Well, I'm not convinced. They use that double an awful lot and I don't think his body is totally like Tom's and I can usually tell by the hair...
The double wears a wig, and if the shot is long enough it's hard to tell.
In Gone when Clark is laying on the couch face down with his shirt off and Lois sneaks out (how gratuitous was that anyway?), that was the double. I know because his hair moved in a strange way (like a wig would) when he moved his head. That wig was on the double's head, not Tom's.
I don't have Crusade on my TiVO anymore so I can't say for sure but at the time I thought that the hair looked like a wig from the back.
I just took a look at a downloaded version of the show and that hospital scene it was hard to say... it's too long of a shot for me to tell whether whoever that was is wearing a wig. (I used to be a costumer and can usually spot a wig, even really good ones.)
Lois walks away and the dude arguing with her, then there's a cut to Clark (clearly Tom, as you can see his face) walking over to the statue. Then there's a cut back to Lois arguing with the dude about her leaving Clark, and the cut back to the blanket dropping but you can't see his face.
When there's no view of his face, and it was a longer shot, there is some doubt whether it's Tom in my mind.
You could be right but I'd have to see it again for me to be sure.
Serene

Believe me. It's the double, not Tom. I can spot a wig when it's as close a shot as this, although with the other angle from above it was easier to tell.
That's the double and that's a wig.
And there would be a lot of reasons why they'd need a double for a short scene like that. Tom was probably needed on the second unit to shoot a stunt, or whatever it is he does when he works with the second unit.

The scene in the hospital wouldn't save time in fact I think it would be hard to edit and block. You don't think Superman can be sexy?
I think there are a lot of female fans that would disagree... Reeve was sexy back in the day and in the beginning even Reeves had some appeal before he let himself go and started needing pec, biceps, shoulder pads and a truss. ;)
Being Superman is not mutually exclusive with being hot. Not by any means.

That I believe because it makes sense. It saves him time. The scene in the hospital wouldn't save time in fact I think it would be hard to edit and block. I don't know about that... there have been times I would have thought the same thing but in looking closer it looks like the double, not Tom. It's possible it's still the double in the hospital scene.
I don't know why Tom might be needed to be away from the principle unit, even for the 15 or 30 minutes it might have taken for the butt shot there, but there could be several explanations: wardrobe fitting, pick up shot with the second unit, a nap ;), some ADR work, or who knows why else...
In looking at the download I think it's possible. It's a different take. The camera angle isn't quite the same as the one when Clark first walks up to the angel statue.
First there's Tom walking up to the statue. Then there's a cut to Lois arguing with the orderly or nurse, or whoever that guy with the clipboard was, and then a cut back to the blanket falling... I still think it's the double. Hard to tell from that long a shot whether it's a wig, but the way they cut the scene I think it's entirely possible.

In particular, I think Tom look very yummy after Jason removed the chains from Clark in the barn and Clark fell to the floor ... he had no shirt on, looked HUGE, was scuffed up and was making some seriously great gutteral noises. Looking for some pictures, anyone??? Please??

Clark in pain is definitely yummy.. ('cause you know, he'll evenutally heal anyway;)), but I have a very soft spot for Red K Clark. I think we got some bondage enthusiasts here ;).You said it! Not sure about the others, but seeing people in pain (even if it IS just acting), isn't a turn on for moi. There's nothing "sexy" about it. As for the other options, I love Red K Clark, but it's mostly because of his self confidence. Now THAT is sexy. It's very un-Clark-like, and very Superman-like. Surprise. The adventurous lets-have-fun and damn-the-consequences attitude is entertaining, but it has its limits, particularly when the Red K makes him nasty. Meesa don't like to see Clark nasty.
Clark is the most "sexy" anytime he channels his future self - doing a Supermanly deed or taking charge of a situation.
...and anytime his shirt is off. LOL :D

That episode is one of my favorites... just with how Cute Clark was finding someoone to trust with his secret without all of Lana's guilt tripping and thinking he had maybe found the one, then that hot scene at the end of act I with her in his bedroom and then her starting to hit hard on Clark's creep-o-meter and then this scene...

That picture in the elevator....AM is standing on a box, right? No way she's six feet tall!
I wonder how many other actresses have to do "standing on box acting so I can be in the frame" stuff?Quite a few, actually....
In 10 what's-her-name had to walk in a trench along the beach in that one really famous scene so Dudley Moore didn't look as short as he really was.
In a couple of scenes in Smallville it's really obvious there's a box involved.
In Devoted, I noticed that in a scene between Martha and Clark in the kitchen when he's telling her about Chloe hitting on him, she walks toward him and then up....
In Spell when Isobel/Lana has Clark chained up, she walks toward him as she's talking and then right before she gets to him, she takes a step up. I guess they didn't show a long shot so you couldn't see his feet in that scene to tell whether there was a box, but wouldn't she have levitated or something to reach his lips instead of standing on a box?
Or alternately, not chained him in such a way that would make it hard for her to reach his lips?

That picture in the elevator....AM is standing on a box, right? No way she's six feet tall!LOL! Apple box, anybody?
In that particular scene, I think Welling did the same thing he did with Mack in Magnetic, which is funny 'cause it was almost the exact same situation. In Magnetic, Chloe unceremoniously pushes Clark up against a filing cabinet and kisses him (MRRrooww! LOL). In order to make the scene "work," Welling had to scoot down a good 8 inches or so, spreading his legs on either side of Mack. You can see the before and after in this panel. Reference his height against the filing cabinet behind him and then compare it to the last frame in this panel...

So: do you guys think he used a stunt sock in that scene or not?
That was not a sock. But. Shorts like that do tend to have a padded liner at the front to stop it chafing, so there would have been a little help of the "completely unavoidable" variety.

I didn't think they were shorts... I thought they were boxer briefs (a type of underwear), which wouldn't be padded.

Yeah.. it's a shame that so few people in the SV forum at TWoP actually LIKE the show. I mean.. good grief. Having some gripes is one thing, but those people f'ing HATE everything about it. I don't get it. All I can think is that it's like a big stroke-fest.. who can ***** the loudest.
That said, I do love reading Omar's recaps.. He's got a gift for comedic writing and I just crack up reading them... and yet I disagree with just about every attitude he has. He has an awful lot of people worshiping his every word there.
Ukay, on that note, I'm off to bed. To sleep, perchance to dream (of dancing denim). Cue Geddy, Alex and Neil.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say the shorts were made from a thin neoprene, just like wet suits. This would make the most sense since the experiment required subjects to be immersed. Riding shorts are generally made from spandex and have a soft suede chammy sewn into the crotch between the legs and butt, but not in the... uh, cup area. LOL You also don't want to get chammy wet, if you can avoid it. It dries stiff, which defeats the purpose of having cushy padding in that area. ;)

Some do, I had a pair once myself - and they don't always use chamois anymore either.
But those did look more like swim shorts than cycling shorts, and these days a lot of swim shorts (unless you're wearing a pair that are of Olympic-quality and streamlined up the wazoo) have an extra layer of *something*. Wet neoprene really chafes badly. *winces*

Looks kinda skinny in that one. It's a trade off, I guess. Putting aside the point that he *shouldn't* look too big - in that ep, I think he was still only supposed to be sixteen - it's very VERY difficult to be big AND cut. Professional bodybuilders work for years to get that look - and that's all they do. You either train to put muscle on, or you're dieting to take fat off. It's tough to do both at the same time. VERY tough.
As previously noted, Welling has lost some definition, but he's packed on more muscle mass. Compare the scarecrow photos in the Pilot with that amazing lat spread in Spell.
http://www.patcostello.com/temp/pilot2.jpg
http://www.patcostello.com/temp/spell.jpg
Now, I KNOW Tom's an oddball 'cause every freakin' photo angle of him looks different, but it definitely appears he's been focusing more on size this year than definition. It "suits" him well. ;)
(I've gotta get a better cap of the scarecrow scene. Every one I've seen is just WAY too dark. Must. Fix. That. Today!)
Manips can never take the place of the real thing. :)Indeed, though they do help the imagination along quite a bit. :D
Although part of me wishes he'd do a shirt rip week after week with the costume underneath ... but alas, no tights ... no flights ... Well, one of those rules was utterly shattered this year, though I don't see the other one being broken in the near future (short of vague references like they did in "Hereafter.") And while I'm SURE there's been talk about having at least one quick scene, possibly in the last episode, that would not only show the actual \S/ logo, but Clark WEARING it, I'd bet dollars to donuts Features would NEVER let them get away with it. Can't have the public confusing one Superman with another, doncha know.

Check third row down, on the right; his lats look damned impressive to me. I have to agree with triplet's assessment regarding TW's body looking similar to that of Michelangelo's David. The musculature is really nicely defined without looking bulky -- and the way that his lats and abdominals just pop out at you ... he really seems to have one of those perfect athletic bodies (and it must be hell to keep it that way).
As far as Tom Welling not being Superman in the film ... well, I'm just as enamored with Mr. Routh. He's not quite the same as Welling, but when I'm sitting at a dinner table, looking at a plate of ripped studmuffin and another plate of hot young buck ... why force myself to choose? ;)

Both of those things are sometimes made in thin neoprene these days, because it's better at keeping the body warm.

Again, we're not talking night and day here - just minor tweaks and adjustments and a little extra mass. It's definitely there. Another thing to keep in mind is the difference that a little flexing between takes can make. Tom joked about that on the ABC Family SV special and how MR did it for certain scenes. For sure, but that's been the same every season. Lately most of it seems to just be maintenance of what he already had - he put most of the extra bulk on from mid 2002 to late 2003. Second row down, on the right of your photo thingummy, he looks pretty much as he does now, but again, it's those damn confusing camera angles. In one shot he could be barely pushing 175lbs, in another he looks close to 225...
Red shirted promo photo from the first season - arms up, hands on wood beam. Difficult to tell due to the shirt, but it does appear he wasn't as wide back then.
He only really started working out in early 2002, and it didn't start to show for a good six months. That particular picture was taken in July/August 2002, so he was the same there as he was at the Teen Choice Awards: noticeably bigger than he had been in season one, but still not that big. By may 2003 when he filmed CbtD he was pretty huge, and we can all see what he looked like by the time he filmed "Phoenix" in late July. He's been getting slowly bigger for three years, but the extra mass he has now doesn't make me sit up and go "he must be bulking up for something!" He's put on 5-10 lbs (at least) between every season, just because he has more time in those three months. He actually changed the least between seasons two and three due to the filming of CbtD.
I'd honestly be surprised if he wasn't bigger now than he was six months ago.

Well yeah, he's been bulking up because, film or no film, he's still playing Clark Kent as he grows up to become Superman. If he didn't get any bigger i'd be yelling at him for not taking the character seriously.
Gotta give him credit for that 'cause all too often it's overlooked.
I think he's getting too big. I liked it when he was a bit smaller. *pouts*
Call me crazy, but I think a good trainer would get him bulked up and cut at the same time, as difficult as it may be to do that. The way he looks now, it seems like he was busting his ass to bulk up, but then stopped halfway through -- leaving himself looking a bit tubby, it has to be said -- because it became a pointless exercise. Now he needs to drop a few pounds and get some definition back.

Ever seen the Seinfeld episode on shrinkage?
I do believe I know that to which you refer. Tom had neoprene shorts on, those don't let in the cold. :p
Hey! Your impression is almost as good as Tom's. :)
Hmm, not out loud it isn't. ;)
Had nice Serene and Pat worrried. Yes, my precious.
Tom "stuffs." Yes, he does. *cough*
Yep, it was pretty good... Can you do the voice, James?
Oh God no, that would be cruel and unusual punishment to put you through.

Watch really closely, and you'll notice that often does that - and sucks his tummy in. Those old modeling tricks come in handy...He does it so much (yes, I've noticed), that even Glover imitated the shoulders-back, chest-out stance in Transference. Watch the scenes in the cell as Lionel (Clark) is talking to his cell mate that deciphered the Kryptonian words.
We dooooooooo??? I must have missed that memo. :pOh, don't you start now. LOL We have a whole thread devoted to that. In fact, I'd be willing to bet it's the largest thread in the entire SV Forum. Big freakin' surprise there, eh? ;)
Well yeah, he's been bulking up because, film or no film, he's still playing Clark Kent as he grows up to become Superman. If he didn't get any bigger i'd be yelling at him for not taking the character seriously.Agreed. I truly admire his dedication to the role.
I think he's getting too big. I liked it when he was a bit smaller. *pouts*Oh bite your tongue. Size DOES matter, doncha know? LMAO!!

Did you see pics of Bale a few months after he completed principal on The Machinist? He porked out royally. The added fat gives your body resources it wouldn't normally have when hitting the weights hard. Otherwise, you end up going into a catabolic spiral. Been there, done that. Iz not fun. :(

And i'm sure he does it to look a bit bigger than he really is. See him in person and it's pretty surprising how slim he is, even now. The camera really does add all the weight that it's claimed to... and then some.
Oh, don't you start now. LOL
But whhhyyyyyyyy????!!?!!!???!!!???
Oh bite your tongue. Size DOES matter, doncha know? LMAO!!
That's just cruel. :p
Actually, that's generally how it's done because it IS so hard to do both at the same time.
I know, but if you're in a real hurry it's not impossible. You just need to be dedicated. Generally people do, as you say, bulk up first and then use the extra fat to help bulk up faster. I'm preaching to the choir, but fat's necessary to help the body regenerate, and building up muscle is all about tearing and healing ad nauseum. Without enough fat and protein the body just breaks down, which ain't pretty - that's why steroid-induced musculature looks good, but isn't very strong and can tear apart like paper. It's size without substance... yeepers...
Tom looks like he's suspended in a mid-stage without anywhere to go from there - I honestly don't think his muscles are any bigger, but he's definitely put on weight around the midriff. Now he needs to get back on the cardio.

Awww, diddums. :p
Not my fault he's lost definition and gained a bit of gut - I'm sure he had his reasons, but realistically he should now try to get rid of it in order to keep me happy. :D
We should take a poll I like him bigger. You know it's hard to know if maybe he likes being bigger don't you HAVE to stay thin when modeling? Then he went to playing a kid now he has the option to be big if he wants.

Hey, I like bigger. I just don't like barrel-chested, which he's getting close to being.
I don't think he's ever really had much choice about being slim though, and it's taken a lot of work for him to be as big as he is now. I'm pretty sure he's doing it for the character. Of course give him a few lazy days and he'd probably drop a lot of it pretty quickly... assuming his metabolism hasn't also started to take a few lazy days.
I'm now picturing the change of Matt LeBlanc over ten years of "Friends." I shall cry in the corner.

You bring up a good point.. aging is a factor. Personally, I love the more manly body as opposed to the boyish (albeit a very mature boy;)) one he had in the early eps. But I do agree that he's big enough now.. a little definition would be fine, but the current look is just about perfect, IMO. It eases my pervy-guilt to ogle him looking less like a high school kid and more like a grown man.

Omg... that is AWFUL! The composition of that picture is as bad as it gets. Did they have some guy in the WB mailroom put it together???? Lana looks like she's staring at a mole or something on his back, Chloe's looking at the back of his head, and Lois is sniffing his armpit. And you're right.. they substitued his head! LOL.. it's so bad it's funny! :D

I remember buying that magazine I felt so silly I used the U-scan. It was worth it though. I think he only did it because of CBTD which is another reason I want him to do more movies.
