It's Arm day today

PS: What kind of split are you on? I used to be on a 3-day split (3 on 1 off), but now i'm on a 5-day split (5 on 2 off). I'm thinkin about going back to the 3-day.

3-Day Split. Mostly because I have limited time and I'm older now and take longer to recover than I used to be. If I was still in my twenties, I'd be training 5 days a week. I ran a chest/bi's, legs/shoulders, back/tri's config for quite awhile, but just recently switched back to a more traditional chest/tri's, legs/shoulders, back/bi's config. Check the Over 35 Journal section and you can get more info on what I'm doing.

Will do.

So I guess I should stick with my 5-day split (legs, chest, shoulders, back, arms)?

Depends on your recovery times and how it's working for you. Sometimes, all it takes is some periodization (adjusting your weight so it will allow you to run the same routine with a 3x6, 3x8, 6x3, 4x10, 5x5 or some other configuration) so that your muscles stay challenged and don't "learn" your routine. Other times, it takes moving to something entirely different or giving your body more rest than it's been getting. Everyone's different and responds to different things. If your routine was working well for you in the past but has gotten stagnant, lately, try some periodization with it and see if that helps.

I'll most likely stick with this routine for 1-2 more weeks, then switch it up.

Above all it just sucks not having a spotter. I can never push myself all the way.

The one that was trapped in a wall in a grocery store or something

It took them 14 days to get that damn cat out, because "the building is a landmark and they can't dismantle parts of it to get the cat out".

I'm sure the owner will make sure not to let the cat out again after that.

And now I completely waste another beautiful day indoors.

Not really. The students I observed were pretty good and the blue's performance I saw in lieu of class was quite entertaining and relaxing. Guy Davis is a talented artist, if I do say so.

Plus before the sculpture broke, the lesson I based off of it seemed to please the teacher.

Now, I need to get a various artist Best of Blues cd if I ever decide to make last week's and today's exercises into an actual lesson.

Times Square is touristy as hell and there's really not THAT much to see or do there, to be honest. It's A LOT of people wandering around, gawking, and bumping into each other while they look at Naked Cowboy Guy and avoid the panhandlers and three-card monte A-Holes. There are many other things that are worth spending your time doing like if you want to see some of the historic landmarks or spend some time in the Village or something.

It's WORSE than the monuments in DC, believe me. I hate Times Square. Go to China Town and find one of the little bubble tea places. Those are fun and they have some crazy but tasty drinks. If you're into blues at all, Terra Blues in the Village is an excellent blues club. Right across the street from it is a fantastic Spanish restaurant that I can never remember the name of. Another good place to eat is Eight Mile Creek (if it's still there, anyway). Austrailan food run by a bunch of crazy Australians. They have kangaroo if you're curious to try it, and if you go on a Sunday evening to their downstairs bar there will be a bunch of insane Australian guys down there hanging out, drinking beer and playing Australian rock and roll. Ask them to play some Midnight Oil for you and they will buy you drinks all night long! The Museum Of Sex in the Chelsea is a lot of fun, as is the Gugenheim Museum. Little Italy is...well....little. Spoons has been there before, it sounds like, so you'll have a good guide. :) Have fun!

He's mainly the one who's planning the day out, but I know we're both looking for interesting places to go and look around....which could include museums. I dislike super tourist-y spots, so we'll probably avoid them. I've never been to NYC before, so whatever we do I'm looking forward to it.

Erzengel
04-26-2006, 08:29 AM
I think a few people already mentioned the Gugenheim, Soho, Museum of Modern Art.

It's just a LOT of things you can do you might want to kinda map it out and see what things are close to each other. You don't want to have to go from downtown to uptown and back and just waste time. Like the Guggenheim is 89th Street I believe. SOHO is downtown near Canal Street over 70 something blocks. It's best to nail down what you kinda want to see.

jaguarr

Although I'm not sure if we'll have time, I would LOVE to go to the zoo....so far we've gone to the National Zoo and the Philadelphia Zoo together, the Bronx Zoo would be a great one to add to the list :)

Erz, we're definitely going to map things out....I'm not a fan of chaotic wandering back and forth in a big city that I've never been to lol. All you guys have given some great ideas, we'll just have to narrow down where to go and plan it all out. :)

Also, for Chinatown, does anyone have any specific restaurant recommendations? I love Chinese, but of course any Chinatown is gonna have a lot of crappy places to eat mixed in with the good ones.

St Marks Place/Astor Place seems to have two or three.

But then again, I go to that area more for music (they sell Merzbow, that's all I need) and food that the comics (although St. Marks Comics helped me out in the past).

That boy might not have the best upbringing, but I don't think that the child should me charged with neglegent homicide. Working with children, I've seen how inquisitive they can be at their age. They can cause a lot of trouble even in a room that is childsafe. What they can do with a rug alone is scary.

It is a shame that the girl died in such a way, but I think the charges should be looked at more closely.

I don't think the city or that I (speaking for myself) think I'm "better" than anyone else..... it's just there's so much going on around the city... that living here you experience so much that in a bad way you become jaded. I think that's what NY can do sometimes... make people jaded because there is so much to do here...

And again speaking for myself... I read a lot... A LOT about the history of the city so when I talk about my home I talk about it with pride. NY in the beginning was meant to be a trading post.. not the "greatest city in the world".
