So.. do you think that a mod (although I have yet to see one in here, I'm sure they're lurking around the edges ;)) would put a sticky on this thread so we can use it for misc. chatter? I know there's a general Community board already, but I'm not sure how welcoming it is to someone who might slip and mention SV or TW on occasion. I'm not real fond of watching my words or getting trounced on for saying them.
Any opinions? Bueller?

i was kinda hoping the official TW thread could serve as a pseudo-community thread. That's essentially what it was back on the Supes boards...

I agree, that would be nice, but I think it also attracts a lot of TW bashers who come here looking for a fight. Hopefully they'd stay away from a SV community thread.. you know.. since we're such lowly scumbags. :)

The management prefers for "sticky" threads to be temporary....so if you want this to be a place for casual talk to congregate and grow, you will have to just keep showing up in it.

I have one of those big azz tv's and the WB does not come in as HDTV with my cable provider  :) I just started getting it this year but sometimes it's kinda pixalated or something and I have to watch it regular. Mine is a 60' not plasma but not projection. the picture is great. We spent so much time researching it and my hubby got a part time job at best buy so we got everything at cost. It was so much fun we painted the room mostly black including the ceiling with brown and black tiger stripes on the walls. We built risers and a snack bar hung exit and restrooms signs. I made curtains out of faux black leather to block out the sun. We got a kick ass surround sound. I love that room I only wish that video games didn't hurt the TV I can't even imagine playing playstation2/ X-box on it that would be so cool.

you know what i hate about Smallville, the plot lines take forever to develop. clark finds out that lana and the coach are together. in the next episode the coach gets fired and lana blames clark. in the next episode, lex tells lana it was him. it's like one freakin' meaningful scene per episode! it's brutal. if all those scenes were condensed into one episode it would make an interesting episode, but, no, the writers have to drag it out while clark fights witches and magic kids from russia. i mean, are the writers afraid they're going to run out of plot lines? it's annoying.
that being said, Smallville rocks and i love the show.

actually, thats one thing i love about the show, if you miss an ep, you're behind. It makes the story seem more real if everything comes back and has an important effect in a later episode.

I was a film major in college and write on the side, some here have read one thing I've done... Gotten some good reviews but am actually currently working on developing a TV show with my writing partner. We're both way outside Hollywood but you never know, I think it's a pretty good idea so we'll see how it goes.
A TV show spec I wrote recently was the most fun I ever had writing so I'm going to give this television thing a try... Not nearly as hard as feature writing in some ways, in other ways it's way harder....
Writing a tv show on spec, not just an episode, is about the hardest way to break in as can be found but it's an interesting project, so I'll have to see if we can work out something that people might want to see.

I'm James, I was born in 1984 on the 5th day of June, I live in the nice and dull, dreary United Kingdom. Ah, introductions - or re-introductions, as the case might be. Who here *haven't* I "met" yet? Hee! Okay, short and sweet...
40, blonde, female, 6', married, no kids, house, Ford Explorer, born in NYC and now living in Boston (still a Yankees' fan though LOL), grey cat. Currently working for a staging and production company.
Hobbies include bodybuilding, comics (Superman DUH!), MTG, Harleys (Y2K Dyna Wide Glide), various sciences (archaeology, astronomy, paleontology, geology), photography, art and music (Rush, Pink Floyd, Genesis, etc.) Former lead guitar player for an all-female progressive rock band (Rage of Angels.) Weaknesses: Victoria Secrets, muscular men (mantra: "one eye will NEVER be married" LOL!!) and mixed nuts (literal, but feel free to read into that whatever you wish).
Last film seen: The Incredibles. (Will be seeing National Treasure this w/e.)
Favorite TV show: LOL!! Oh, c'mon now! If you have to ask, you shouldn't be reading here. ;)
Favorite genre: Sci-fi/fantasy.
Favorite food: Sashimi. :D
Well, that 'bout covers it, I think. :)

Okay, I'll take the plunge, or at least dip my toe in..
I've also broken the 40 barrier (and since I'm currently having aging issues, I won't say by how much). Married, children, cat, bird.
I work in OB/Gyne, probing women all day. I read quite a bit, mostly genre stuff, but I don't limit myself. I love going to movies, but I'm getting pickier about what I'll see.
I'm half-Asian/half-redneck.. also an Army brat from way back.
I'm posting a picture that I will admit is several *cough* years old. It's one of about three pictures of me taken in my lifetime that I can stand. I fully expect everyone who has introduced themselves in this thread to follow suit and also post their pics, btw. :)
The hair is no longer that, uh... poofy, btw. This was at a costume party and IIRC, I was having a leettle too much fun dancing on a table when this was taken. I'm dressed as a witch, btw.. unfortunately, they never thought to call ME to be in the Spell ep. :( ;)

Ok, I suppose since Triplet finally knows my name, I may as well tell everyone else.
My name Matt, Im 5'11", brown hair blue eyes, 27 years old, and was born on my sisters 4th birthday. She hated me for that, got replaced by a newer improved model. lol
I was born in Robinsdale, MN, I purchased a house last year by myself, so that means Im unattached ladies.
I worked for an independant comic book company out of minneapolis called Dead Dog Comics for 3 years. I was the jack of all trades there, did mainly computer coloring but also pencilling on the side and logo design. This all while working full time. Now Im a Marketing Coordinator for an evil corporation. I wouldnt be suprised if James Bond busted through the window and shot me dead in the next 5 minutes.
Im crazy for halloween, I go all out on costumes, this past year I was Hunter S Thompson from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Ive also gone as Tyler Durden from fight club, the Terminator, Punisher, The evil boss from the movie Office Space...god the list goes on. I obsess on my costumes for months prior to halloween. Im crazy that way.
First movie I ever saw was Popeye, first movie I remember seeing was Superman 2. Last movie a saw was Team America. Favorite show is Smallville, Ive let people freeze in the cold of winter before cuz I wouldnt answer the phone while it was on. Im serious about my show.

You know, you didn't have to fess up. I wasn't gonna tell no one... ;)
My real name is Cindy, but my pen name uses my initials instead: C.M.
Cindy sounds too much like Buffy or Britney and who the hell would take a writer seriously named Buffy? No one.
:D
My parents made the unusual choice of naming me Cindy, actually. It's not a nick name. I think I would have preferred Cynthia... oh, well.
Oh, and for those of you don't know: I am really a triplet.
The youngest, by two minutes. Two identical, one fraternal. I've got curly dark brown hair and hazel eyes.

You know the first movie I remember seeing was one, I don't remember the name of it, where a kid is playing with some other boys in a field and takes a dare to run up and touch a dead bull at one end of the field.
He runs and trips just before he gets to it and puts his hand through the side of the carcas...
I remember nothing else about the film except for that scene. And I wonder why my parents took me to see that whenever I think about it. Maybe they couldn't find a sitter, but to take 4 year triplets to that film? Yikes.
I was scarred by that film. Actually, I had nightmares about dead cows for years.
Anyone know the name of that film? If you do, tell me: I'd like to buy a copy and ritually burn it. ;)
The last film I saw was the Forgotten, very good in a creepy sorta way. Julianne Moore was revelation and Sinise was excellent.
Of course my favorite TV show is Smallville.
My favorite food is sushi, but there's nothing better than the Alice Springs chicken at Outback or a good bowl of French Onion soup with some crusty bread to dip into it.
BTW: The Yard House makes the best FO soup I've ever had. I highly recommend it, and their Kung Pau calamari is to die for.
Boy: I'm chatty today... Home on a work day has got me in a strange mood I guess.

So.. after SV yesterday, I watched Jack and Bobby for the first time. I love Tom Cavanagh (from the show Ed), and he was guest starring, so I decided to give it a try. I really liked it, enough to give it a TiVO season pass even. The whole shifting time frame thing and the way they relate the two is pretty clever. Really good acting from all the regulars as well. Of course, Tom Cavanagh did a wonderful job... he's even charming as an alcoholic loser. :)
Tonight, I watched House, Bryan Singer's new show that I recorded earlier this week. I liked this one even more than J&B. The thing I liked about it though is exactly what I'm afraid will turn a lot of people off of it.. the mysteries of Diagnostics! I've spent most of my adult life in various branches of diagnostics for a reason...it's hard to explain the appeal. Yet, here's this TV show completely based in nothing but. I love it. :) But I am worried that much of the technical stuff will be too dry to keep viewers interested. I ADORED the main character, Dr. House..
Anyway, those are my two recommendations for the week. I haven't really been a huge TV viewer in recent years, but having TiVO is becoming dangerous to my free time.
Hey Bad Superman why remove the photos? They were good out them back. I was going to watch Jack and Bobby when it first moved but how old is that little boy supposed to be? He was kissing this ****ty girl in the preview and he looks ten so I passed.

I didn't see that whole ep, only a clip, but I believe Bobby is in 8th grade on the show. As the parent of a middle-schooler, I can vouch for the fact kissing does happen (and more, that I don't even like to think about).
The ep that I saw on Wed. is also being aired tonight (Sunday) if you want to catch it. It really was an excellent show. I'll definitely watch a few more and hope it wasn't just a fluke.
Wow he doesn't look it. He looks younger than my six grader, so that would be about 13 or 14 that's ok I guess.

This holiday season is going to be really busy for me, so If Im not around much, Im probably dealing with all the craziness that goes along with getting married. Who knows, maybe Ill be on here just as much, whatever.
:) Congrats! Good for ou just continue to keep her on the pedestle and life will be easier for you ;)

My Girl is the one on the left side of the photo, her name is Tina. Fantastic girl. She is one of the guys. Everytime we go out to bars, at least 3 guys try to pick her up. She could care less, blows them off all the time, and I get to marry her. Never thought in a million years Id land that type of girl, the object of so many guys affection. Im beyond lucky, and I wont forget that. :)

I've known my hubby for almost 19 years, however. I did meet him pretty early on and we got along famously right from the start... dare I say it: love at first sight does happen.
The second I saw him I turned to a mutual friend: "Who IS that guy?"

I wish I could, but things are getting bad 'round here and I can't.
The one bright spot is that last week I had to take a forced furlough (how's that for making your mood ring black) because of a problem with the contract I work under at HP. (I'm a contractor.)
My contracting manager just told me that several people wanted to take that opportunity to switch my job classification which woulda meant that I woulda been laid off since I can't switch under my contract. They would have had to hire someone else.
But my HP manager nixed that plan because she said I was needed.
Good, but bad too. Evil forces are out there trying to ax my job so I can't slack... where is superman when you need him? I have an evil witch here at work that needs to be taken out to the garbage heap.

Keep your opportunities open. I also have a situation here at work. It's the secretary. Every time she's abscent I have to do my work and her work. It's come to the point were I will talk to the boss as soon as our elections "mess" are over (I work with the Puerto Rico government). It's frustrating, but I'm keeping my options open. Once the new governor has been finally elected I want to ask for a transfer and a raise. It's been a long wait for me and the waiting is over. If things don't come through the way I think, I'm thinking about teaching (just a few sections) for college. As long as I get paid, I have no problems having a second job. . . the thing is that I want to be in "good shape" come December 2005.
All I can do is offer my prayers and best wishes for you. Feel free to blow off some steam. We can take it. LOL

I think what it comes down to is that I never thought I'd be doing reports and **** like that. I'm a people person and I'm dealing with way too much data.
In a way it takes advantage of some of my skills, I am an arcane knowlege sponge... I remember things the engineers here don't so I am the go-to person when someone needs historical info on past projects or their problems, but doing ass-kicking reports in Excel and Powerpoint is SO not what I wanted to do with my life.
I want to be a writer, but I'm having trouble even getting enthusiasm for that anymore... Which is probably why I've been spending way too much time over here... I need an escape.
It'll get better. I'm caustiously optimistic it will .
I've got some good ideas for film scripts and TV spec episodes and me and a buddy are working on a TV pilot which will be cool if we can work out some of the problems.... Hard to sell a pilot unless you're known, which I'm definitely not, but it's fun and is also an escape.
I'm sorry.. I'm venting, but I think I need it.
You guys are great and a lot of fun to "talk" to about this stuff.

Escapes are a good and necessary thing for the prevention of insanity. So sez I. :)
I think that if you want to be a writer, and IMO, you are very talented, then you write.. and you write... and you write some more. That's the advice given by one of my all-time favorite writers to writer hopefuls.
Here something you can do to cheer you up this week.. go buy Gwen Stefani's new CD. I heard her song on the radio today, the one that Clark was whiteboy dancing to in Spell.. and I just CRACKED UP. :D:D:D

Well it appears that everyone, or at least the 'mericans amongst us, are busy defrosting their turkeys and such. Fortunately, I don't have any hostess duties or cooking to do tomorrow. Sweet.
An early Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate it.. and uh.. happy Thursday to everyone else. :D
Here's a joke that's currently flying around Usenet faster than a speeding bullet. :supes: ;)
A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad
attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth
was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to
change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words,
playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the
bird's vocabulary. Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier
and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird
and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and
kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was
heard for over a minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly
opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's
outstretched arms and said,
"I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm
sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend
to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."
John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to
ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the
bird continued,
"May I ask what the turkey did?"
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

What is Black Friday?????
Thanksgiving here in Canada was right after CR passed away, (which probably meant that the Smallville cast had a holiday--good timing for a day off, I'd say...).
I can't say I mind when Canadian Thanksgiving is because it usually leaves more time between Turkeys :) How do you guys deal with consecutive turkeys a mere month apart?

What is Black Friday?????
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season. All the stores have ridiculous sales, some starting at the crack of dawn. The malls are literal mob scenes and people duke it out over $20 DVD players at Wal-Mart. ;)
Some people like all the holiday hustle and bustle..not to mention the bargains. I avoid it, if possible. This year I worked the morning, so there was no temptation to go out. I did *almost* go to Best Buy today.. but when I drove by, they actually had police directing the traffic in and out of the parking lot. I kept driving.
I'm going to order all I can online this year and hope it all gets here on time.

Are you going on a honeymoon?I got a kinda funny story about my mom...
I was getting married outta state and my mom (even though she was unhappy with my decision - why get married where you haven't lived in 6 years? - but she doesn't like to fly... ;) ) had decided to rent a house near where I was getting married for the week of the wedding so my immediate family could hang out.
I decided to stay at the house (which actually worked out great - I recommend you spending a few nights apart prior if you're currently shacked up), to spend time with my triplet sisters and my other siblings. Unfortunately this week with my family included a week with my mom.
She came in at the last minute, after everything had already been planned, and started telling me how to save money or cut corners or whatever...
So, the big day comes and I'm getting ready to go to the church and my mom comes in and wants to talk to me.
She says to me, innocent as they come: "I know you've been uptight...If you're having second thoughts, it's not too late to back out."
I coulda killed her on the spot.
Getting married was hectic, but it was my mom that had been making me tense all week!
I actually remember a lot of my wedding day... I've heard others who've said it was all a blur, but not for me.
Maybe because compared to living with my mother for a week it was surprisingly stress free.... ;) :D

I had a glass of wine and while I was sweating rivers I was quite relaxed when my time to speak came on. I know a wedding is different, but I think the situation has a similar element to it. :D
Congratulations on your wedding. I wish to you both the best of success, happiness and many many blessings. May God bless you.
I was so nervous on my wedding day I ran out of the church before hand and puked on the side walk while in my dress. Thank god I projected.Sorry I know that's gross. ROFLMAO, don't worry Lara, I dont want one anyway. My friends even asked me about it, I just laughed and so No thanks. Im too nervous and stressed right now to even care about a bacholar party. I guess I wouldnt be so crazy right now if I didnt hate my job so much. I get home from a crappy day at work and just want to lay on the couch and relax, but I got to go out and get **** ready for friday. Its fine, I guess I just like to complain.

I Absolutely agree. If you decide to have a Bachelor party it should be at least one week before. That's a rule my friends have. We take marriage very seriously and we want the groom to be on top mental, spiritual and physical condition ;)

Actually, my hubby wasn't as hung over as his groomsmen were... Ross especially tied a big one on and looked it still by our afternoon wedding.

Tell your buddies if they want to party, they can do some roadwork for you. I know it's stressful, but you're supposed to enjoy this milestone in your life. Maybe you'll look back on it in a few years and have some nifty stories to tell, just like Lara...

Hope so, this is as close to a shotgun wedding as I can get. If it wasnt for the fact that she was a foriegner, we'd get married quickly and stress free, but there is all kinds of paperwork, medical exams and mugshots to be taken, that we can make it easy on ourselves, no matter what. We both are very private people who dont want to make a fuss about anything, but of coarse, Mom wants to make a big deal out of it. Making us register for gifts, making us promise to have a reception, blah blah blah. Now my friends want to have a party for me, I dont want this at all. But I have to bend alittle to make everyone happy. My stress level is only up becuase we have to deal with the governement. If we didnt have to worry about messing up her papers, Id be happy as a pig in ****. But thats life I suppose.

Hello All!
I survived the big day. Got married on, friday at 4:30 by a judge. It was supposed to happen at 5 pm but there was some scheduling error on thier end. They had it set for this upcoming friday somehow. But they were able to squeeze us in, even though we had to rush there at the last minute, everything went off smoothly. Afterwards, we had dinner with my family, then headed home and talked to Tinas family in Croatia who were already drunk at a wedding reception party in our honor. Afterwards we went out with a bunch of our friends to a bar were we proceeded to get hammered. It was alot of fun. Anyhow, here is a picture of the happy newlyweds.

LOL Thanx!
Well, I'm saving a bit more to give her a good engagement ring. I think St. Valentine's day is the perfect day for the engagement dinner with both families. Our wedding will have 145 guests for now. We're trying not to go over 150. My mother is nervous and happy. It's her first experience as the mother of the groom. Today my fiancee has called me a few times saying: "At this hour I would be doing this and that" and I tell her: Well, I would be doing this and later on I would be playing videogames (probably Fight Night 2005 or the next installment of Smackdown VS. RAW) with my PS2 to relax myself a bit. I'm gonna be nervous.

Well, I was fine until two hours before the wedding, then I freaked out. I got all worried. But I went through with it anyway and it was all fine. We had the luxury of doing it in front of only my parents and a judge though. You'll be up on stage, sweating through your tux in front of an audience. lol
Ok, It wont be bad, as long as you love the girl, there should be no worries. Just don't get married outside, my cousin did on the hottest day of the year and they were all decked out in fancy suits and dresses. I thought I was going to die of heat stroke sitting in a chair in partial shade. After, they had to stay outside and get photos taken. Their suits where wet. it was nasty.

The ceremony will be on an air conditioned Church. . . Still when I get really nervous I sweat like a fountain LOL. I've always tried to avoid talking to large crowds, it feels weird when so many people are looking at you. But I know I will pull it off specially at the reception where I will recite a poem to my girl with William's Superman's love theme (instrumental piano version) in the background. I think that being with my family members I won't be too nervous.
I tell you, I never thought I would be so involved in the whole process, specially on the little details. I want this moment to be memorable for the rest of our lives.

I did the same thing that I did when I first bought the SV season 1 DVD set.. I watched them all over a few days time. With Firefly it's a little harder though.. knowing that there aren't any more being made, although, there is a movie coming out in Sept.
Funny how Spike and I seem to have similar tastes in TV shows. ;)
If you get a chance, borrow her set and watch a few eps. It's really a wonderful show. Great dialogue and interesting, unpredictable characters. If it were still on, it would definitely rival (and maybe surpass) SV as my favorite show.

Too weird to even explain.. basically it's a subculture of people who are into...uh.. dressing up like furry animals and doing weird things. A quick google search brought this up which probably offers a better explanation than I can. http://tftb.com/furries.htm

No, I hadn't. :)
For some reason, I inevitably get the STUPIDEST employee whenever I go through drive-thru's. Seriously, I can pretty much count on not getting anything resembling my actual order.
I actually went through an Arby's drive-thru once, made my order, and was then told that they were OUT OF BEEF. I'm like.. but, but.. this is ARBY'S! You can't be out of freakin' BEEF!!!

How unsafe can 5 guys on laptops be? Maybe I'm not understanding.
At least you have PC access at work. I'd never get any work done if I had a PC to play with.

Well that's the whole thing. They really cant be hence my lack of involvement onsite. I'm just here to meet the ambulence and fill out the report if need be. Hopefully they wont run 24hrs anymore and I can get back to days.
I ususally spend the rest of the night entering data for time projections into the computer which is tough to complete when the people you need to ask things of all work days.
TMI??? (sorry i have no clue on that one)

So are you working a graveyard shift? Years ago I did a stint working in a hospital 3rd shift (11pm - 7am). I actually liked it, it worked out well with my natural tendencies to stay up late. The hospital was quieter, and a little spooky though.
NHawk19

Extended graveyard 7pm-6am. I dont have a problem with the time, I acctually enjoy sleeping in. The only problem is that the people I need to talk with tend to work from 8-5. E-mail has been working but it's tough to meet deadlines when all you can do is email back and forth, just takes longer to resolve issues. And since I'm the only one from our office here (laptop guys are subs) they have a tendency to keep me out of the loop.
The only reason I'm on nights is that I'm the ranking FNG with the company

One christmas break from college I worked nights doing... if you can believe this... janitorial work for a restaurant I had waited tables for. they didn't have room on their sked for me to do anything else.
I think I lasted two days. Yikes but men's rooms are gross.

Well, I was raised in the south in the burbs..
Southern women are very into appearance for appearance's sake.
The lady's room was nigh on spotless compared to what the red-neck animals left behind in the men's room.

I took a job as a hotel maid when I was in college. I was given the orientation and they explained how I needed to finish a whole room: dirty toilets and tubs, nasty sheets, and vacuum.. in 6-8 minutes.
I never showed up for my first day. I. just. couldn't.

Is dihydrocodeine stronger than hydrocodone? That's the one I see more commonly rx'd.

Is dihydrocodeine stronger than hydrocodone? That's the one I see more commonly rx'd.It's stronger by far at a similar dosage, but it's usually used at a relatively low dose. I only take 10mg, for instance. My doc doesn't advise anything stronger because he thinks painkiller addiction would be worse than an achy knee. ;)
The achy knee will be having surgery in June, by the way. Joy. I love being lacerated with scalpels'...
