i think the increditables has hurt ff because i don't think people will try to understand the differance between themActually "at it's core" there really aren't that many differences between the F.F and The Incredibles. I believe "The Incredibles" success to be a good sign of things to come for the F.F, because it shows that audiences can really dig the material.

Think about it, in light of the recent sucess of "The Incredibles." A live action version (which is pretty much what it is) is sure to have simillar sucess.. That is unless Story really botches it up.

no because brad bird used the ff powers and that is the real arguement because if brad bird was that creative he would have made up powers for them not use ffs powers.

Well it looks like we can add another crappy Superhero movie to the list.. Blade 3 just came out here today and all the reviews are terrible thus far. I'm gonna' go see it tonight with my girlfriend. I've got my fingers crossed that the critic's who wrote those reviews were a bunch of uptight, anti-superhero movie arses. I realize this is not really related to the F.F, other than the fact that Blade is a member of the Marvel franchise. It's just that I spend the majority of my time here in the F.F thread, and was wondering what all of you felt about this, anyone??

all critics are full of **** make your own mind up:up:Not allways.. The critics were hard on "Catwoman" and they were right on the money. I thank them for saving me the angst of wasting 10$ and my free time. I am proud to say that I did not contribute one frickin' penny to that piece of sh**t. But yes...I usually go see a movie and decide for myself whether it is good or not. That is unless the critics are calling the film in question a turkey, a Bomb or whatever.

:o F*** THE CRITICS!!!!! I could go on about why but, around here I shouldn't have toWhy so much hate for the reviewers??? Granted, a lot of em' are full of ****, there has been many an ocassion that they've saved me the agony of going to see a flop. Good example: I was contemplating going to see Before Sunrise, as I enjoy a good caper movie now and then, and it had good actors in it. Little did I know that it was gonna suck untill the reviews came around.. And they were right on the money according to a lot of my friends who saw it...Poor bastards..

Cos they hate most of the films that ordinary ppl enjoy purely so they can feel superior....THEY SUCk NADS.

Why so much hate for the reviewers??? Granted, a lot of em' are full of ****, there has been many an ocassion that I've saved myself the grief and money of going to see a flop.Because the critics for the most part, think they have all the answers, they think they know what a successful movie is...but they don't....they don't know the reasons why directors go one way or another...they don't know how much heart and soul some put into a character, and for the most part the audience sees this but a critic that doesn't happen to like that particular actor crucifies them....its just wrong...and it happens way too often...yes there are some usually those that work for newspapers that give you a good look at the movies...but as far as those on television....they want people to watch their program and its just like tv today....more violence, anger, disputes gets you the viewers.......some actually liked "Catwoman" and their opinion of the movie is just as valid as mine....to them it was a success....had nothing to do with what this or that critic said......there are many movies out there that were not great in the box office...they made their money back, with profit....but because it wasn't a 200 million dollar box office, or stayed at #1 for weeks, or wasn't loved by the critics it is then panned and called unsuccessful....thats nuts....and I don't like it.....

Cos they hate most of the films that ordinary ppl enjoy purely so they can feel superior....THEY SUCk NADS.Perhaps you just haven't found a reviewer you can relate to?.. I believe everybody has different tastes but there are some critics out there who I can relate to more than others. For instance; I'm not going to read a review by Roger Ebert on Spiderman 2 but I will take into account a review by someone like this Moriarty character who graces these boards every so often.

Preach it brother flight http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_28.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm22764GB)Well in a nutshell,...
To start off, critics get to see movies for free. They get paid to do it. They act like fat kings waiting to be impressed. They get paid to do it. To them,The movie world revolve arounds their attitude of what they think movies need to be like. They get paid to do it. They can't enjoy anything that doesn't serve their idealistic scenarios and expect everyone to think the way they do.Plus, They get paid to do it. They defame genuinely good movies and promote movies that usually turn out to be boring. Their taste in movies never proves to be of any more value than anyone elses.
Everyone might as well get paid to be film critics; and it goes to show that film critics are nothing but an expense to society.

I agree with you flight and AF:up: now guy as for moriarty he's from aicn and i don't like anyone over there as far as reviews go cos i find them hyper critical, truth is i only go to films i really want to see no matter what anyone thinks...other flicks even if they get a great review i won't nessisarly go see it as i dont always have the time but on a whole i'm happy making up my own mind unless evey single review is bad then you have to wonder....critics are quite often arrogant and play favourites with guys like tarantino or Fincher as they think it makes them look cool and of course they have to assault michael bay and will probably do the same to Tim Story just to keep their cred.

on the critics i agree with everyone who says they usually do not like the movies average movie goers go and see. that is why i don't listen to them and go and make up my own mind about movies. the critics usually like the artsy fartsy movies anyway.

What you need to grasp is that sometimes you have to take a stand and to judge. Criticism is a very essential thing for a director, for how else is he going to know that he's making ****e films!?! I don't give a damn about how much heart and soul a director has put into a film. That should reflect in his work anyways, and if it's not perceptible then he's simply making the film for himself and not for the audience.. To that I say, “bugger off” with that attitude!! In the end it's us the viewers who pay our hard earned money to go see these films. It's not about knowing a directors intentions, it's about whether the film in question provides an enjoyable experience to the crowd. Granted movies are an art form, and they can differ in so many ways and can be abstract, there will always be crap art and good art. Failing to perceive this just makes you blind. Things I care about most in a film are acting, script and plot. If a movie fails at any of these, then I'm sorry, but it's a crap film! And I'm not afraid to say it, or ward others off from seeing it. You don’t like the critics because they are brave enough to voice they’re opinions to benefit others?? Then don’t listen to what they have to say.. It’s called freedom of speech my deer lady.

I agree with you flight and AF:up: now guy as for moriarty he's from aicn and i don't like anyone over there as far as reviews go cos i find them hyper critical, truth is i only go to films i really want to see no matter what anyone thinks...other flicks even if they get a great review i won't nessisarly go see it as i dont always have the time but on a whole i'm happy making up my own mind unless evey single review is bad then you have to wonder....critics are quite often arrogant and play favourites with guys like tarantino or Fincher as they think it makes them look cool and of course they have to assault michael bay and will probably do the same to Tim Story just to keep their cred.O.K I'm back, and I can see I have a little catching up to do. First off; I was using Moriarty as an example from off the top of my head. If you can't relate to his tastes, he's obviously not someone you should listen to. There are MANY critics out there, and believe it or not, they are not all full of s__t as you would so believe. When I read a review, I don't necessarily take it as my view on a film. I do use reviews as a means of saving money by avoiding GOING TO THE THEATER and paying top dollar on a less than stellar movie. A good example would be “Alexander”. I like Oliver Stone, and was interested in seeing his new pic, however upon reading plenty of terrible reviews, I've wisely decided to avoid paying $30.00+ (Mine and my girlfriends tickets, plus a popcorn and drink) to sit in a theatre for 3 hrs watching a shoddy film. Instead, I will wait for it to come out on DVD, pay 5.00$ to rent it and judge for myself.

The idea of a movie being watched in reverse was ingenious, and the creator deserves a pat on the back. Guy Pearce's performance was also very good, but it was not one of the greatest films ever.. Since I can't post in the other thread about this, I thought I'd post here. I'm sorry that feelings seem to be hurt. Especially in the FF Forum. I was doing this before I met the new blood. I didn't specifically target any of you guys. I just played out the scene.

The truth is that I'm still Aunt Petunia. I just have a new "avatar". Why is it that me being a man and not a woman changes our relationship? None of us were romantic. We had friendships based on a few lines of text that we read from our homes. I'm still lines of text. I still have the same likes and dislikes, albeit my preferences in romance are juxtaposed.

I'm sorry that you, my closest friends, feel the most betrayed. But I don't think the punishment fits the crime.

I know that I've betrayed your trust. I just didn't think that this was more than an elaborate "joke". I'm sorry if it was more than that. I'm still gonna want to post about the Fantastic Four, but to be honest if the more sensible people of our community want me gone, I'll prolly respect that. Even though it makes me want to weep.

I guess this was a search for self. In Cyrano's search for his self—and the conflict between who he is and who he'd like to be—he manages to both gain friends and make enemies. He simultaneously challenges those around him while entertaining others.

Forgive me.

Since I rarely venture out of these forums, I was scratching my head until I tracked down the 27 PAGE thread on this (it'll probably be up to 30 by the time I type this).

Speaking for myself, I have absolutely no problem with it. It's the person that matters, not what sex they are, and, in my opinion, you're one of the founding members of the FF boards whose contribution can't be diminished by a small misrepresentation.

Have none of us, at one time or another not pretended to be something a little different than we were? Particularly on the internet where you can live out any fantasies and be anyone you'd like? I see a lot of people on here acting like bad-asses. Are all of you that tough in real life?

For the sake of full disclosure, I'm a 39 year old male (I'll be 40 in March). When I weighed myself this morning, I was 200.48 lbs. I have a wife named Linda and a son named Ryan. Here are pictures from our trip to Disney World a few weeks ago:

You Know Willie,It's okay you saying that but as Kel said a lot of the Younger ones particuly the girls who Like it or not Looked up to Aunt P are hurt that a seemingly expierienced comic fangirl who they admired is a fraud, also stealing the other girls identity whether shes a ***** or not is still not cool as she shouldn't have to put up with that and whether she's posted her pic or not doesn't mean she's fair game, would you be fine if i took kel;s pic and ran over to imdb pretending to be her or would you think i was an assghole ?

Hey, Hunter and Will....

Fellas, we really only need ONE thread to contain and discuss this particular issue with other members in the forum. There's no value in having it woven throughout all of the threads. We have enough "Doom", "Thing" threads, but having this particular subject run multiple threads is unneccessary.

However, if you want to converse with Aunt Petunia one-on-one on this thread then knock yourselves out. While this is the "Off-Topic" thread, there is already a thread on topic with regards to discussing your feelings on this matter with other fans.

Sure, I can understand why you and others would feel that way, and I won't tell you not to. It was also certainly wrong to do that to the person whose image was used, but I'm not that person, and I think that aspect of it is between her and Aunt P.

I just like to keep a positive attitude whenever possible. I personally won't hold it against Aunt P., but anyone who chooses otherwise has that right.

Not my place to say you are morally right or wrong Auntie. Some of us are shocked, some entertained, some insulted by your "experiment". In the end, we will all have a great "in joke" and the drama has served to distract us from the agony of waiting for this damned trailer to show up.
I think we can all be thankful that your plan to reveal yourself at the preimere didn't go down. I think the resulting arguement could have gotten the lot of us kicked out of the theatre.

:thing: :doom: :thing:The best looking thing for you to do right now would be to do just that......The mods just might respect your wish. All I can do is imagine what I'd do, but then, in all honesty, I can't imagine doing what you did in the first place......honestly! It would be a good start. If you 're so concerned about the posters, then you oughta remember your "concern" next time you think about the damage you've done. It's just something you're gonna have to live with....it's your own doing.

So are you gonna do it or not?

As for the banning stuff. I've worked hard to make this a great community, despite everyones amnesia. I'm not going to just walk away easily. If the masses say ,"get the hell out"... Well I might do just that.

He , my friend, said that he only got a glimpse of this:
a forest setting
Invisible woman's form showing in the essence like PREDATOR, with her hand being raised in a Jean Grey fashion like she's working a force field.
A low Darth vader -like voice
and X-men like action.
He saw Mr Fantastic but no Thing or Torch

I don't know if any of you on this board might qualify for this Hollywood extras casting call - I'd sort of imagined all of our male posters here as being tall, dark and handsome...but after the AP dramas, now I'm not so sure!!! ;)
__________________________________________________ ____________
Attention, 97-pound weaklings with bad hair, skin and teeth!

Hollywood needs you for two major motion pictures.

Casting is underway for twin sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the summer 2003 blockbuster that earned $305 million (U.S.) in box-office booty and a surprise Oscar nomination for Johnny Depp.
What they need now are a slew of scrawny, scruffy, toothless wonders to toil as pirate extras, with the potential of a few lucky losers being upgraded to principal roles. A call went out this week from casting agent Sande Alessi, one of Tinseltown's best-known recruiters (she does Spielberg's films, too), and it has to be among the strangest pitches ever made for movie talent.

The website for Sande Alessi Casting (http://www.sandealessicasting.com (http://www.sandealessicasting.com/)) lists the requirements for landing a role, and it's not much more than being male, wretched and in possession of a full-body colour 8-by-10 photo. Acting experience is not essential, although it helps if you have a real beard, a glass eye and false teeth. It's apparently okay to be Canadian, as long as you're mean and ruthless. The parrot is optional.

There are six very specific roles available for extremely skinny men, ages "18 to 90" and of any ethnicity, as described in a taped announcement from a casting telephone hotline linked to the site:

"We need extremely skinny men. You have to be anorexic looking ... you have to look like, if you're taking a nap, you may have passed away. You have to be that skinny. You have to be not just the skinniest person in the room, but the skinniest person that you have seen in months. If that's you, we need about six of you. Send us a picture without a shirt on right away."

Does that sound like you, Stringbean? Then get that photo out pronto, before you fade away.

No one is saying what Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski plan to do with these human skeletons, but I'll just bet it has something to do with Richards, who is beloved by fans as the world's most musical cadaver.

Alessi and her staff have already had one audition in L.A. for pirate extras and, incredibly, there was a relatively small turnout. More than 7,000 wastrels showed up last month at Hollywood's Ricardo Montalban Theatre when word got out about the Pirates casting, but Alessi had been expecting between 12,000 to 15,000 to stumble in. Hence the Internet and phone hotline summons for additional scoundrels.

Who'd have guessed it would be so hard finding ugly and skinny people in Hollywood?

Nope, he's supposed to do both books. He's a good writer but he really screwed up on Gwen and compounded the problem by responding to legitimate criticism (not "he sucks") by insulting fans. I hope he doesn't repeat this in the FF.

I never read into the Sins of the Past arc, I stopped in the Ezekiel arc. I liked the stuff he did when he started off. I never quite figured he would be the type to write Spider-Man. As interesting as his story was, it got a bit too supernatural for my own tastes.

I've got my fingers crossed, but when people like me who'd been reading Spidey since the mid-seventies had a problem accepting that a character (Captain Stacy's daughter no less!) who had always been portrayed as TOTALLY pure-hearted was written by him as someone who, although a virgin, would have sex with her boyfriend's best friend's father, JMS suggested they need therapy and were the type to disempower women. (As if such prideless behavior was empowering) That type of obtuse arrogance bodes poorly for any medium with an existing fan base.

CaptainStacy
01-09-2005, 02:06 AM
Yeah, i used to post at Hero Realm, and when Straz first started writing ASM he was a bit late on several issues...a few people started complaining, and Straz showed up there and tried to scold everyone...he got into a big thing with the co-founder of the site, and everything....very weird.

He DID seem pretty personable on the SM2 dvd though....

I enjoyed Sins Past for the most part, although i'm not sure why he decided to drag a very beloved Silver Age character through the mud....that scene where Peter desecrated Gwen's grave to get a dna sample really bugged me...

After weeks of reflection, i've come to the conclusion that It (the story) really served no purpose when all was said and done though, and probably shouldn't have been attempted...i don't think any other Spidey story in history divided Spider-Man fans the way Sins Past did.

This is very true. When I'm in the showers at the gym or in the lockerroom, every once in a while I cast a glance at some of the feet of the guys. Some of them (like mine) are just normal--non-stinky, just regular and clean feet. Some are bee-yoo-ti-ful and obviously manicured (complete with buffed toenails even). But OTHERS have feet that resemble damn hooves. I mean, this one cat obviously had been playing footsy with some wild animal because his **** was jacked up...toenails cutting up and getting snagged in the carpet, scratching the shower's tile floor.

Bottom line: If you can etch "I WAS HERE" into a ceramic surface with your toes, your nails are too damn long and need to be finessed.

You're getting warmer. I like the idea of power. A combination of big d**** and evil. That way if some here don't have one, they can have the other. And if you have both, well then, you're just one bad muthasucka. How's "The Imposing Staff Squad":D

or "Titan Baton Tribe"

I have a few ideas...but they are all destructive. I'm seeing animated storms mostly and things of that nature. Or I might do another collage of bodily pix combined with weather elements like the one I have now. If SHH doesn't ban me, I might get a cheek shot in there. ;)
