That issue was part of an arc dealing with the character ragman, who's costume was made out of rags made out of souls of evil dead guys. Although ragman himself is a good guy. My guess is that that is supposed to be the Batsuit made out of the rags from the ragman.

The images are incomparable. Yes, Lee draws both the male and female physique in highly idealised and exaggurated proportions; but he renders them in a form that makes geometric and anatomical sense.

Liefield "draws" men who look like a string of sausages wrapped around a waste bin. Captain America's chest is turning a corner there, for goodness sake.

No, personally it has a lot more to do with Jones' version of Batman giving off the exact opposite impression. I look at his Batman and see something thats so exaggerated and lifeless that it just comes off as amazingly goofy-looking, and unintentionally comedic. A Batman with ears that rise a few feet over his head doesn't look menacing... it looks silly.

I love real, innovative horror-esque art in comics, such as the artwork of Sam Kieth, and of course Dave McKean. IMO, Kelley Jones's art is just an eyesore, especially in comparison to those two... a hilarious eyesore, none-the-less. ;)

Though, I'll admit even Jones isnt as horrendous an artist as Liefeld is. :o

Batman is not suppose to be built like the Hulk. He's suppose to be thin, and agile. Not bulky.
Batman is suppose to be thinner, Zorro-like, like Douglas Fairbanks acrobat and Bruce Lee martial artist, then the Hercules-like Superman.

Guys, I have to be honest here......I see NOTHING wrong with Jim Aparo's
work there.........I mean, yeah.....it looks dated......but that's it. I honestly don't see how his artwork looks so bad, it's not GREAT......but it's not bad.

Atleast that's my opinion.

And I gotta mention.......the Mike Magnolia pic is great........but whenever I think of Jason Todd....I think of that pic where Batman is holding his dead, bloodied body. I've seen that pic in a lot of places.

concerning the batman by Jim Lee and the 'roids issue, keep in mind that Lee imagined Batman with armor under his costume... see the one issue of wizard in which they hype up lee on batman and show his prelim sketches. he has a pic of batman with the armor on, kinda an xray thru the costume. not to mention, the chest would be a prime spot to have some bullet proof padding.
