i'm only familiar with the american live action version which i was tpped off to while watching a movie called infra- man, i got copies of both movies and liked them. in fact while posting in a guyver thread at www.kungfucinema.com i suggested it was time for a NEW liveguyver film what do you think?

The live action films stink (The costume rocks though), I want the anime series to be continued (it was never finished:mad: ) and the rest of the manga to be translated.

Dunno it used to be on the sci fi channel years ago. There was only 12 eps made and that doesn't even scratch the surface of the whole story:(

Have you ever read any manga beyond what's been translated? I'm curious to know how the story continues since Viz will most likely never finish it.

I hoping some fan will translate it or already has.

I'd love a new Guyver movie. Either a major American or Japanese release. Guyver 2: Dark Hero was great for its budget, at least in terms of action and story. The Guyver suit itself was also quite impressive.

i said no,*Guyver like evil dead and power rangers(the first ones) ,its charm was in its camp and 80's feeling. Making another one,it would have new cgi and all that fancy pants cr@p. I suggest fixing up the female version ,Witchblade. That tv show was in no way like the comics.Id like to see that brought to the big screen with all the new age technology.Leave Guyver to its old charm.

*movie ,i havent seen the anime.

Personally, I'd like to see a new live action movie or possibly even a live action tv series (though I'm sure cancellation would come quick). I liked both Guyver movies for different reasons. The first one because it was funny, the second because it was a good adaptation of the anime.

If all else fails, I woudn't mind seeing a new anime. Maybe just an OVA series or something.

Recently the Guyver's been seeing somewhat of a ressurgence. Last year they released all the episodes of the anime on DVD, a few months ago both films got DVD releases and coming soon is a box set containing all the episodes of the anime.

If the Guyver becomes popular again at the very least we might see some translated manga.

Well, I've got a question. What's this Guyver: Out of Control OVA I've heard so much about?

Does it pick up where the last episode (ep. 12) of the Guyver OVA series left off? And has it ever gotten released in America?

Venom160
11-22-2004, 09:32 PM
its a retelling of the guyver story told in the series, the beginning is almost identicle to the beginning of the series but after that its completely differant. and all iv seen released of it is a vhs with english subtitles. And instead of Lisker being guyver 2 they had a female guyver 2 in it. Thats all I know about it.

I'll have to try and track that down.

I'd really like to see an animated contuation of the OVA series, or failing that, the manga translated and released in America.

And I'm not too keen on the Hyper Guyver's design. Maybe it's the shoulder pads.

Yeah, just do the thing and it should work.

I loe the Guyver, I just can't think of a thing to talk about...

Well, which was your favorite Zoanoid? From the movies or the anime.

Personally, I thought Enzyme was pretty tight-looking.

Oh yeah, that is absolutely inspired by the Guyver.

"Inspired", not "rip-off".

Cool pic, though.

I would really love to see the Guyer anime restarted and updated. Guyer is a pretty tight story. It just needs to be finished. Several of them (anime) are unfinished. Another one that I would extremely love to see is RG Veda. They made a part two, but it is unfinished as well. I believe that it really hurts the anime series to exist with a to be continued .... maybe lifetime.

Has Guyer gone past the twelve episodes anime-wise? Does anyone know?

Anyway the main reason why noone else can tranlate the rest of the guyver manga is because crappy VIZ has the US rights. Even though they have no intention of publishing it they won't give them up:rolleyes:

David Hayter is Solid Snake (so cool it was to find that out) and he wrote X-men and co-wrote X2.

Guyver 1 (Mutronics as it was known) was garbage. But i still enjoyed it. Guyver: Dark Hero was a huge improvement. I wish they did a third just to finish it off. The anime series is brilliant. Notice how loyal they stayed to the costume design in the film.

I hope some big hollywood company gets the film rights, hires a kick ass director, with David Hayter (Sean Barker in Guyver Dark Hero) to write it, and get a big, wonderful Guyver franchise off. 20th Century are doing a DBZ movie, lets see a Guyver movie.

GOD PLEASE LET IT HAPPEN :D

It was a total suprise to me when I heard that they had made a live-action movie. It was even more suprising to me when it got a sequel. I started watching the Guyver with my cousin when i was in fifth grade. That's about almost a nine years ago, I guess. My cousin's father is a anime, comic, movie freak that shared all his stuff with his son. My cousin has turned me on to many anime, movie genres, and comics.

One Guyver fan for the whole message boards. What a brave soul I am.

Hi everybody, long-time reader, first-time poster here. I noticed some news on AICN that might interest a few Guyver fans and thought I would register and share it with you all:

New Guyver

According to Anime News Network and the official Japanese site there will be a big announcement regarding a bio-power armor action Guyver at the Tokyo Anime Fair, ocurring March 31st to April 3rd. Update: it was later announced that ADV has co-produced a new Guyver which will air on Japanese TV this Summer.

Here's the original link to the story, it's about half way down the page:

http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=19783

Here's an image that can also be found on one of the links in the article:

http://www.wowow.co.jp/anime/guyver/images/p_key.jpg

For the record, yes, I would love to see the Guyver suit up for a movie or anime, and wish the rest of the manga series would be translated into English.

Anyways, hope that bit of news was of interest, good to be on board the hype.

From what I've been reading this news was issued last month. Why hasn't anyone been talking about it? I gave up on looking for new Guyver related material since they only were continuing the Japanese manga. Now I want to look, in depth, into this new series or movie. The official site has barely anything and what it does have is in Japanese so I'm out of luck. Some guy on another message board tried using Babblefish translator to decode the Japanese but it was confusing to read.

here is some press release from somewhere

Popular comic "Strong plant armor Guyver" that exceeds four million totals appears in WOWOW. WOWOW is started, the animated cartoon of Japan is distributed in the United States, and the A.D.Vision Co. of big industry-leading that concluded successfully and the Kakugawa movie and day produce SF action A the book's being serializing to monthly "Boy ace" (Kadokawa Shoten), and putting it on the market up to 22 volumes jointly now. It has already delivered it as the first original and TV animation series in WOWOW in the United States this time in 1994 1991 though the photograph taken from life making into a film is done two times.

Ordinary high school student's gaining suddenly huge power, fight, and transformation hero suffering of story. Overwhelming support has been received by the one with a hit concept current "It worries, and it is a hero of the life-size to which it is puzzled", "Organic mechanism design", and "Big power that cannot be controlled" for the first time. Production company Or ell Em of acknowledged digital animation in an excellent technology demonstrates the advantage of the animation expression to its maximum and this is made an image.

Please expect it of "Guyver" to make good use of the latest imaging technique.

Someone asked if it will be " The generic "Who is going to fansub this series" thread" and one guy said this.

The new Guyver anime is a coproduction between ADV and Kadokawa Pictures (Kadokawa Shoten being the current publisher of the Guyver manga in Japan).

Oh, and see the tall white guy during the Guyver TV press conference announcement? That be John Ledford, ADV's head honcho.

So, it probably isn't a good idea to ask for fansubs of Guyver TV, due to the coproduction deal. And even if there are fansubs, they won't be listed here at Animesuki because here, U.S. coproduction implies that a series is licensed. Finally--even if people fansubbed the show, it's likely that ADV will send them cease-and-desist letters--they did it when people were subbing Gantz before any explicit licensing announcement happens.

I'm gonna keep this Goddamn thread open for as long as it takes.

I have a question for all Guyver fans: Who would be your ideal director should a Guyver movie franchise become a reality? I'd have to go with James Cameron, especially when I heard he will be filming Battle Angel Alita next year for a 2007 release. I wished he would've taken the Guyver to heart instead because I know the source material is right up his alley. He would do a masterful job, especially with today's technology. Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton and Sam Raimi are all great but distant seconds nonetheless.

I loved the Guyver OVA series! It rocked! Good old fashioned 80s Japanimation (I don't call it "Anime".) Back when it was colorful & raw.

But as for the live-action Guyver flicks, it didn't care for them. Don't get me wrong! I love Mark Hamill! He's good in anything. It's not his fault that live-action flicks weren't quite up to snuff like the Ova series was. It's the director and producer's fault!

your logic astounds me. You probably know this but I recently found out that Hammil got in a car accident and smashed some of his face. It happened a long time ago but I wonder if that might have killed his career as a big star.

Hell no! He recovered from it completely. It's not the reason he hasn't "made it" as you would say. He hasn't become a big A-list star because of type-casting. It's hard for people to think of you as something else when your known the world over as Luke Skywalker: Jedi Knight. The same thing happened to Chris Reeves, what with his role as Superman and all.

I totally loved the 2nd Guyver film. Especially since you didn't have to follow the first awful one to understand what was happening. Despite bad dialogue, a few cheesey fight scenes & typical f/x, it still rates among one of my favorites. I'd love to see Steve Wang put out a 3rd installment. His costume desighns were terrific! Sorta like a cross between Swamp Thing & Dark Man, with balls!!

Yes, but it isn't quite the same as the original. For one thing, the animation for this one lacks the colorfulness and depth that the animation of the original OVA had.

The show's being produced by ADV and there's been a recent surge in Guyver merchandise in America, so I say that it'll be here in no time. Probably once the series finishes its first season in Japan. So mid-late 2006 I'm guessing.

I think the character designs look fantastic. Tetsurou looks considerably less ugly but, for some odd reason, reminds me of Popeye.

I especially like the Zoanoids. They looks exactly like the originals just drawn better. Good stuff.

What about the "icky-factor"? will we still see the grotesque gore we saw in the original series? or will it be dulled down? the gore was somewhat intricate in design. The characters and backgrounds for this new/revamp series looks less-intricate. Don't get me wrong, The suit looks the same in complexity. It's not like everything was well crafted in the old series but it had a certain something that made it likeable. I guess this new design and animation will take some getting used to. I really hope it's not slapped together like some Saturday morning cartoon.

Wow, a new guyver series. Shame that the first season is going to end when sho kills his father...but i guess it only means season 2 will continue on until after the original series =) i've been waiting for this since the early 90's hehe. Though i cant imagine guyver without the gore, i really hope it doesnt get cut down for the uk. Though i WILL be buying it on dvd, ofcourse. Its a very exciting time to be a guyver fan =) Does anyone know if there has been any guyver games for any consoles? I wonder if this new spark of guyver activity will result in the making of a third live action film. Ah...good days =D

Well, I think that link a few posts above might be the one your looking for. I don't have the figurines. I might have posted some figurine pics in the beginning of the thread but since we've merged they might have been erased accidentally. They may become more popular and available now that this new series is making it's way.

When people finish downloading a torrent and leave the bittorent program open, they become uploaders or seeders, the more people upload, the faster others can dowanload. The reason why your download is so slow is because there isn't enough uploaders/seeders. Understand?

2.) Then I went to www.bitcomet.com (http://www.bitcomet.com), if you scroll down the page, you get to a cnet ink to download the bitcomet software, save the program and install everything.
3.) Then I simply double clicked the already saved link that was on my desktop and you just follow the instructions on the bitcomet software.

The fighting doesn't seem as fast paced as it did in the old series.
I can't remember whether the guyver has two fights or one in the old one,but there is only 1 fight in the new one with gregol, the green one with the horn.
Also there's a new part at the beginning which is a bit weird,it shows what I am guessing to be zoalords and then zoanoids appearing and destroying the city.
Also the gigantic guyver is shown, but in a shadowy kind of way. Then the actual episode begins.
I prefer the old music to the new one.

There are a few differences that you will notice when you watch it, like its the police that find the weird guy who has the guyer units and not a trucker etc ...

Hope my instructions are a bit more clear this time

Quick note, just remembered that I couldn't play the episode in windows media player or winamp, I had to play it in my divx player.
Don't know why, in media player and winamp, it would only show the first second of the episode, but the audio would still play, but the video just shows clouds in the sky

I'm sure the fights will pick up later in the series. The fight with GUYVER 2 should be crazy with the new animation.

Try to download this. It's called the "combined community codec pack". It should help you to watch the Episode.

For more information visit this link (http://www.kickassanime.org/wiki/index.php?title=Compack#Current_Pack_.28aka_Get_it _Here.21.29).

not the whole thing. they show him opening his plates and it revving-up but the y didn't show the beam discharge. They should have done that for the end of this episode. Maybe they are saving it for a more dramatic moment. That would be better I guess.

Ever since I got the video I've been trying to put it on a data disk. I couldn't open the one I burned to disk so I put it in Movie Maker and saved it. Now instead of 308 MB of file it's 97 MB.

I watched the whole thing even though it was in Japaneese. The animation is fluid. From the opening credits he will have more hand to hand fighting. Great for first episode.

So when is the next episode coming out?
Can anyone remember if guyver fights 2 of the zoanoids in the old series?
cuz i remember him fighting the one with two cannons on his shoulders.
Also will anyone be putting up a torrent link on ere 4 the next episode?

Nathan

I think the Episodes are always airing once a week. Just like Naruto.

And yeah, in the old run Guyver had two fights in the first Episode. But as I've heard, they changed a lot in the old Episodes from the Manga.

yes he did fight two zoanoids in the original first ep. it was a Gregole and a Vamore. Actually it wasn't Sho fighting.....it was the unit. This episode showed the unit taking on and killing a Gregole, finishing him off in a different/less violent fashion, but they took out the fight with the Vamore attacking the Guyver with his laser-pods. I was dissapointed of this because in the old episode the Guyver uses his Mega-Smasher to destroy the Vamore. The discharge blast was impressive. Though, probably not impressive for DBZ and Marvel/DC fanboys. I'm pretty sure that when the Guyver uses it in the upcoming episodes, it will look even more brilliant.

I only saw Alkanphel use a some of his power in some Manga scans. I wonder how he will be in this series. The same goes for Guyver Gigantic. I have not seen what the GG can do. Does calling the GG just double the power?

One thing that strikes me about the new guyver is that in the first OVA series, the armour increased him in size and mass, in this it seems to only be size, he seems alot more skinny and..well..weak looking, he still looks great though =P I cant wait for the second episode. I loved it even though i couldnt understand it lol, sorta translated everything as i knew what was happening really.

Ps, please someone be nice enough to post a torrent of the second episode when its released =)

I have 1 guyver comic but it is in japanese and it came with a guyver figure I bought, its quite a thick comic and it has the gigantic guyver fighting some zoalords i think.
It's quite weird tho,cuz even with the gigantic suit, guvyer 3 gets 1 of his shoulders blown off and has his leg hacked off up to the knee joint.

I read that the guyver suit is meant to increase the host's power and everything by 100 fold and the gigantic suit is meant to increase the normal guyver's power by another 100 fold, which I would think would be pretty damn strong

I wanted GJ to explain what the Guyver Gigantic does but I've already read, years ago, datafiles on what it does. I'm don't remember the GG boosting the Guyver's powers 100 fold. Double it, is more like. I wouldn't think that a Zoalord kicking a Guyver's ass would be hard to believe. The only thing a Zoalord can't do is have psychic control over a Guyver. A Zoalord can control Zoanoids and I think even normal humans.

Well, it's cool to watch a seemigly puny looking person grapple with a hulkish-monster. I really don't notice the changes you mentioned. I'll look again.

I noticed a little bit. He's not skinny perse he's kinda more sleek. He was a little thicker in the 90's cartoon but it's cool.
