That movie was the shiznite. I saw it when I was like...five and I was scared that whenever I dropped something it would turn into fifty little demons and run off.

Well, since, how shall I say it, I do not have a predilection towards authentic, real life violence and dead people, (Nor do I like gory horror movies all that much either.) it is kind of shocking for me to see people with slit throats, slashed up faces and all around hacked to pieces bodies. I'm of course referring to Jack the Ripper's last victim.

"With so many wonderful alternatives to wool, fur, and leather, there's simply no need to use animal skins to cover your own skin. For every wool sweater, leather belt or jacket, or bit of fur trim, animals are tortured and mutilated in ways that would make any compassionate person's skin crawl. Sheep, cows, foxes, rabbits, minks, and other animals used for their fleece, fur, or skins feel pain and suffer just like the dogs and cats in our own homes, yet chunks of their flesh are hacked off, they are electrocuted, their necks are snapped, and their throats are slit open, often without any painkillers. Join kind people everywhere and shed your skins-wear only compassionate, animal-free clothing." - PETA

Wearing animal fur is disgusting. :( Here's some more gross information: http://www.furisdead.com/animals.html

I didn't want to post any pictures because they're nauseating.

Have you seen what a sheep looks like with unsheared wool, it's hilarious.

yeah real funny.

"In Australia, the most commonly raised sheep are Merinos, specifically bred to have wrinkly skin, which means more wool per animal. This unnatural overload of wool causes animals to die of heat exhaustion during hot months, and the wrinkles also collect urine and moisture. Attracted to the moisture, flies lay eggs in the folds of skin, and the hatched maggots can eat the sheep alive. To prevent “flystrike,” Australian ranchers perform a barbaric operation—mulesing—or carving huge strips of flesh off the backs of unanesthetized lambs’ legs and around their tails. This is done to cause smooth, scarred skin that won’t harbor fly eggs, yet the bloody wounds often get flystrike before they heal.3

Within weeks of birth, lambs’ ears are hole-punched, their tails are chopped off, and the males are castrated without anesthetics. Male lambs are castrated when between 2 and 8 weeks old, with a rubber ring used to cut off blood supply—one of the most painful methods of castration possible.4 Every year, hundreds of lambs die before the age of 8 weeks from exposure or starvation, and mature sheep die every year from disease, lack of shelter, and neglect.5 Faced with so much death and disease, the rational solution would be to reduce the number of sheep so as to maintain them decently. Instead, sheep are bred to bear more lambs to offset the deaths."

thats so silly, want to see a picture of mulesing? its hilarious. :o ugh

There is NOTHING instinctual about raising livestock for consumption. That is what sets man apart. Butchering, preparing and cooking, also not instinct. I am a pagan and can't stand the way livestock is treated for mass consumption. Besides being cruel, the meat tastes bad. I also believe when I eat meat I am ingesting that animals suffering, which is why I am sure to buy only free range chicken, and pork or beef raised on small farms, in good conditions, slaughtered humanely. I pray to the father god and mother goddess in thanks for the meat, and thank and bless the animal. I prepare the meat with love, and do my best to give back to the earth when I take from it. There are alternatives to mass production and animals cruelty. I have gone hunting, and when I kill an animal I eat the meat and tan the hide for shoes, belts and clothing. Nothing should be wasted. Practicality makes it impossible for me to hunt my own food often, but I do what I can where I can. What I hate about PETA is the extreme nature of their beliefs and actions.

And he brought me into a vast farmlands of our own midwest. And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil. One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard, tomorrow is harvest day and to them it is the holocaust." And I sprang from my slumber drenched in sweat like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared, "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you Jesus"

Why would they need what you call a brain? They do have a central nervous system, it's just not meat. Why would a plant, made of different cells than meat need to operate like meat in order to operate? They are different life forms entirely. I KNOW that plants feel. I have communicated with them. They have spirits, they feel pain...they RESPOND to it. We can measure their responses with specialized equipment. They emit energy, and waves similar to brain waves.

Animals are property, they are a renewable resource. They can't hold responsiblity.

"That the concept of a species ethic is part of the nature of the world may be seen, moreover, by contemplating the activities of other species in nature. It is more than a jest to point out that animals, after all, don’t respect the “rights” of other animals; it is the condition of the world, and of all natural species, that they live by eating other species. Inter-species survival is a matter of tooth and claw. It would surely be absurd to say that the wolf is “evil” because he exists by devouring and “aggressing against” lambs, chickens, etc. The wolf is not an evil being who “aggresses against” other species; he is simply following the natural law of his own survival. Similarly for man. It is just as absurd to say that men “aggress against” cows and wolves as to say that wolves “aggress against” sheep. If, furthermore, a wolf attacks a man and the man kills him, it would be absurd to say either that the wolf was an “evil aggressor” or that the wolf was being “punished” for his “crime.” And yet such would be the implications of extending a natural-rights ethic to animals. Any concept of rights, of criminality, of aggression, can only apply to actions of one man or group of men against other human beings.

There is, in fact, rough justice in the common quip that “we will recognize the rights of animals whenever they petition for them.” The fact that animals can obviously not petition for their “rights” is part of their nature, and part of the reason why they are clearly not equivalent to, and do not possess the rights of, human beings. And if it be protested that babies can’t petition either, the reply of course is that babies are future human adults, whereas animals obviously are not."

Ya'll must make love now and watch the world implode.

But she's a bottom feeder and I am at the top of the food chain with the other humans...that would be interspecies relations...and it would be wrong. Just ask PETA.

Well, if you stand up against cruelty to animals, you'd be a hypocrite if you didn't stand up against cruelty to plants.

Both are living beings. Both are part of the natural world and deserve the right to live. We are in no position to take life away from either animals or plants because it is immoral and unethical.

Which is bull****. PETA and Animal Rights activists are stupid. There.

What the **** are you talking about, freak? I'm talking about eating meat, not raising livestock, I'm not a ****ing farmer. You'd let deer overtake your house.

Don't I look pretty?

In all seriousness, I wouldn't do it myself, but that's possibly because animal skins really don't look that good. That said, I own leather belts.

i agree with PETA, if people wont listen...then make them listen. :)

Yes, make them listen by adopting bunchs of homeless little puppies, then killing them and stuffing their dead decaying bodies in dumpsters.

"I believe that our consciousness is intimately connected to our brain and nervous system. By the term "consciousness", I am referring to the ability to feel sensations such as pain, suffering, and a desire to live. Once a person is brain dead, he is no longer able to feel such sensations. Therefore, since plants do not possess anything even remotely resembling a nervous system, I believe it is extremely unlikely that plants can feel pain or suffering.

Furthermore, plants do not exhibit any behavior which would indicate consciousness, nor does the ability to feel pain give plants an evolutionary survival advantage. An animal's survival depends on reacting to situations which may cause pain and suffering. On the other hand, plants can not run away from a predator, nor can plants change their position to avoid a forest fire. Therefore, it is unlikely that plants would develop the ability to feel pain when it confers no survival advantage."
