Thought I'd create a new thread for all the Marvel redesigns out there. I've seen a couple awhile back that were pretty good so now this is the place to post any and all redesigns from the Marvel universe. Keep in mind that to those people who don't think they can draw, this thread isn't limited to just pictures....if you want to tweak the origin's then post 'em here!

I'll kick things off with a pen sketch I did about 2 years ago right before Spider-Man the movie came out. I saw a small pic of the Goblin's mask in a magazine so I sketched this out....looks a little different from the actual mask used but I think it's pretty close. It's not really a redesign, but it's all I have for now.

I like it, I just think you should tone down the colors. The design is really nice, but the colors are just too damn bright. I saw remove the designs on his thighs, and refine the symbol a bit, and it's flawless.

No, It's based on the Spider-Man 2099 costume. In the future version of Spider-man, Miguel O'Hara wears his Festival of the Dead (?) costume to hide his identity. It isn't meant to be much like the original Spidey suit - It has a stylised skull on the front for Christ's sake.

The suit just doesnt remind me of spiderman at all really. I see a little of venom.this is kind of a funny thing to say, if you really think about it. i mean, Venom IS Spidey. i mean, he is Spidey with a mouth and tounge. so, technically it should remind you of the Black Costume, not Venom. and if you look at the 2099 version of spidey, this redesign makes sense (although, i agree the colors should be a little darker).

Ultimate Superman

Ok here is a updated version of Spidey, I darkened his colors, made the pincers on the symbol pointier, and removed the symbols on the thighs.

i dont know if you ever saw this but alex ross (who i dont really admire or look to but...) did sum stuff fer the movies and did a cool goblin that was sorta a monster. it wasnt like bagley's in ultimate. anyway i thought to rag him up a bit, so its not fire. see i really dont want to rehash the old hood but couldnt think of where to go.

any suggestions anyone cause its stiff rough

i love the pose so regardless i'm going to take a swing at colouring it. if anyone wants to feel free

Danalys
12-07-2004, 02:42 AM
yeah the goblin should be dirty and ragged looking. I'd have done rags if i could draw them well enough. i'd also have had a poncho like thing instead of his traditional tunic. I also wanted it to look skeletal around the eyes. it should basically look like some demented art project. rather than the high tech look from the film. considering that the masks slipknot wear are scarier than the goblin they sort of messed up the movie version. I like a bit of cuteness in the mix as well.

anyway, the costume is red. i stole this idea from a book i read where there were these women that tortured ppl. most of the time they wore brown leather. when they were really gonna get into it or were in a vengence mode they wore red leather. The reason; blood doesnt show up.

no i guess i coulda showed some sign that most of it was a suit but i thought the black areas were distinct enough to acknowedge this. obviously not.

OK, If you check all my older art, I fully credit Hitch (if I got it in the scan). I fully acknowledge Hitch's masterfulness ( a word? i think not) and I fully appreciate his talents, which is why I do "tributes" ( I guess you could call them that) I'm not trying to steal his work here bub. And I have my own design stuff too.

And I understand its not my redesign, I'm just to lazy to start another Hitch tribute / my other art thread like I did on another board.

I like how everyone who wants to sound tough on the internet says "bub" because Wolvie says it. Especially on this board. Plus I shouldn't have to look for your art to find out that you are copying. It is just courtesy to credit the artist. Plus what you call tribute art is copying. You can sugarcoat it all you want. It would be a tribute if you drew Hitch's characters as a tribute to him. Well whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote.

You are supposed to credit someone's art in THE post that you put the picture in, especially if you gave the credit in some "older art". It doesnt matter that you acknowledge his masterfulness, Bryan Hitch doesnt even need your or anyone's acknowledgment of his mastery (look, there's a word ). copying a picture, is nothing like a tribute or an honor to the original artist. if you have your own design stuff..post it! That picture you posted isnt a redesign, its Bryan Hitch's redesign, so the correct way of posting it would have been posting the original picture (like the one computron2005 posted) and saying "here is a pic by Hitch, i liked it so i copied it; here are both pics".
This is the Shh board, not another board, so we dont know what you have been doing on other boards. There is hardly any effort involved in posting a thread.
sorry, but you picked the wrong artist (my favorite to not give credit to)

If you draw something that you've seen in a magazine or a book I don't think you should be accused of 'ripping off'. If you claim credit for it well then yeah you're most definitely full of it, but if you say "here's a pic I did based on a Bryan Hitch drawing" then you've given proper credit. Sometimes drawing things you see is a good way to practice your own craft, and experiment with different styles...or sometimes it's a way to do the "I wonder if I can do that?".

The drawing was OBVIOUSLY based on Hitch's artwork so I really don't think he was trying to pass it off as his own. Let's just chill out so this thread doesn't turn into the DC redesign thread.

Cool?

It's a really great pic but as Esto mentioned with the credit to Bowen, the body for logan is manipped from a pic of one of the statues. i didnt reallly do much of a redesign here. but it was noted that the ears are exposed, which honestly was a complete mistake. pose came first and i didnt bother to check to see what DD look like... m'heh

i really like that spidey its could be a logical progression from the original. the only thing that gets me is the fact that I cant get all the details at first glance. its sorta jumbled or too compact (maybe the density of the webbing, not enough contrast or hightlights). totally good as is but remember those with bad vision like myself need more visual cues.

With that, I'd give him a black suit type mask so it flows from head to neck to pecs more smoothly. I'd also give more definition to his spider on his chest.

Mind if I draw it the way I see it?

When DC and Marvel characters merged back in the 90's...

Superman & Captain America = Super Soldier
Batman & Wolverine = Darkclaw
Spider-Man & Superboy = Spider-Boy
Green Lantern & Iron Man = Iron Lantern

Some were kinda cool like Darkclaw and others were plain crap

Ok, so this is my redesigned version of Wolverine, the costume has influences by the old and new suits, like the orange and brown one, yellow tiger stripe, the movie costume (offcourse) and even a little bit from Sabretooth.
Look at the concepts and let me know what you think!

Alright, here is my attempt at redesigning Spider-Man. Much like Superman, I think Spidey's costume is perfection plain and simple. The overall design of his suit is simple, but works perfectly for his character. This is just my idea for a 'what if' with Spider-Man. I'm not sure if I'm 100% satisfied with this design, I might give it another go but Spidey's suit is a tough one to design. Here are a few notes of what I wanted to do with the suit...

- The lenses would be dark to give more of an insect appearance

- The spider emblem and webbing on the costume would be the same color as the dark blue bodysuit so they would 'blend' in seamlessly with the rest of the costume

- There would be an open hole on his wrist so he can shoot webbing (which would be organic)

- The web pattern on his chest would mimic an actual spider web in the sense that the center of the spider web would be behind the emblem....the web pattern would essentially flow outward instead of straight down like the traditional version does

- There would be a patch on his palm where he presses down on to shoot webbing (no reason I just added it)

- The gloves would come to a point slightly below his elbom

- The red area around his abdomen would raise to his mid-ribs on both sides

Anyway here it is...

Hmmm.....if I were you, I'd changed the throat somehow. The collar is a little too segmented when you combine it wih the rest of the body. Maybe have two of the symbol's legs run up the sides where his caotid arteries would be and have those be blac/blue, and keep the rest red and webbed. Just a thought.

Well I went back to add webbing to my Spider-Man that I did a while back, since RabbitSamurai wanted to see it with the webbing so here he is.
