And you're right; He is going to wear a Rick James wig, snap his fingers three times, and try slapping Reed.
And Reed is going to LOVE IT!
BTW, I'm from LA. I live in North Hollywood.
Anyone who shares a zip code with Ioan is A-OK in my book!

Mrs. F.:pThank you.
. For the record, North Hollywood is a completely different world than West Hollywood. FYI; We are different species. West Hollywood people look down on us NOHO trash all the time and it doesn't bother me. West Hollywood is known for being a place where people who subscribe to alternative lifestyles reside when they don't want to be treated like garbage by ignorant bigots as they would most places. ; it's a known fact there even and they're proud of who they are, I'm all for it, and I speak in terms of one who lives here within the Los Angeles bounds and not some outsider who doesn't know better; and yet still, If either Reed or Vick live there, I wouldn't know. But for the record, I have a different zip code than West Hollywood, ask Dew K. Mosi.
For the record....Orange9mm

Don't bring your small-minded bigotry here.
I was being sarcastic when I wrote this by the way.
Also, there is no bigotry like the bigotry of LA to Orange County. It's all jealousy, of course.

Mrs. F.Oh, hell no! The most bigotry I've ever seen here is the bigotry directed towards the so-called "909"! " That person is from the 909." Oh, don't mind her/him, he/she's from the 909!" I had a girlfriend from this 909 and she was awesome. Goes to show......... I've never heard any bigotry towards Orange except for my own complaints on how screwy your roads are. San Diego is another one, without a map, forget it!

Mrs. F.Oh nothing, just the fact that they aren't gridded at all. I'm not sure which part of Orange you're describing, but most of the areas aren't gridded at all and not only is it easy to get lost , but no one will help you with directions. Either they don't know, thus meaning that the roads are indeed screwy for yourselves even, or they're not willing to help outsiders in need.
As for all the uppity stuck up, conceited Angelenos mocking your home, these are the kind of Angelenos I can't stand. They think the world resolves around them and their mindframe. Not only do they mock you all, they mock us valley folk too. They Think the rest of the country needs to catch up to their evolved state and it makes me sick, so in reality, I'm on your side as far as this issue goes. :) Orange County rules!

I bought and watched King Arthur the director's cut this weekend. If it weren't for the constant advertizement of that movie here, I wouldn't have gone near it considering it was not the legend but the supposed, alleged retelling of what the same production company who did Pearl Harbor put together. Although it proved to be something that could've been told in many different ways and the storyline including the dialogue was way too Americanized for me to buy into it, I must say that the potential was there and so was the talent and acting abilities. Had they used different dialogue and made people like Lancelot(who I named my favorite childhood German Shepherd after) be the Lancelot he is in the legend, I would've been won over in an instant, yet I kind of was won over by his acting as far as potential goes anywar, which is a plus. Lancelot just seemed too out of character but it wasn't Ioan's fault.

Having delivered papers throughout the length and breadth of the County, I can assure you that the vast majority is gridded. You just need to stop driving around the nicer bits of it with curvy roads, and go slumming in the potholey gridded parts.
I liked King Arthur solely because I liked the knights. I enjoyed Ioan very much, as he had facial hair, a black leather outfit, and a seething bitterness that I had never seen before. I also thought Clive Owen was excellent. I have yet to fathom why Keira Knightley had such trouble with her accent, seeing as how she's British and all.
I don't think the dialogue was Americanized so much as faux classicized. A certain amount of that is OK, but that's not really how fighting men speak. Also it would have helped if the script had not been written by monkeys, and if the film had been directed by someone with actual talent.

Ioan will be doing the voice of "Mr. Miracle" this Saturday on the "Justice League Unlimited" cartoon.
http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0502/07/index.htm
Ioan is very talented at doing these "voiceovers" and has been very successful at also narrating documentaries. He even has a separate voice agent. He just recently voiced a jaguar commercial that aired on television.
JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED UPDATE

Before he plays Mr. Fantastic, Ioan Gruffudd is playing Mister Miracle, voicing the character in an episode of Justice League Unlimited that premieres this Saturday.
Gruffudd, who is starring in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, is highlighted in "The Ties That Bind." (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0502/07/j1.htm)
"It was an enjoyable experience," he said of his JLU role after a Fantastic Four press conference in October.
"All the ladies took notice of him when he came in to do the voice," Justice League Unlimited producer Bruce Timm said. "He turned quite a few heads."
Here's how Cartoon Network described the episode:
"The worldıs greatest escape artist needs help from the Flash in order to break a deadly enemy out of an inescapable prison on an alien planet."
Timm has said that Justice League Unlimited might be his last foray in the DC Animated Universe. "So this is my chance to do a Mister Miracle story ... it's going to be really fun," Timm said. Michael Rosenbaum reprises his role as The Flash.

Can't wait to hear Ioan as Mr Miracle!!! :) I know we have a thread about it on Ioanonline, but I can't remember if we decided whether Ioan would be doing an American accent again or not?
Also, I thought I'd post a pic of Ioan when he appeared in a music video for boy band Westlife's remake of "Uptown Girl" with Claudia Schiffer (sp). This was brought to mind after hearing on the radio this morning that it was on this day (can't remember which year he said) that Stan Lee agreed to do, or did (can't remember that either!!) a comic based on the boy band Backstreet Boys!! Golly!!! That just doesn't sound right to me somehow!!!! Did that actually happen?? Anyway, here is Ioan with serviette rose for Claudia...

If any of you really want to see what a great actor Ioan really is, you must see the A&E Horatio Hornblower series.
Master and Commander didn't deserve all that acclaim, a single episode of Horatio Hornblower is more powerful than the entire film.

Master and Commander was a good movie on its own merits (although it was not a good adaptation of the source material, which is flat out brilliant), but it lacked heart. Heart is something the Hornblower series has in vast abundance.

What the heck was that gibberish? I couldn't write like that if I tried. This person must not be very familiar with Ioan or they would not try to mess with his fans! We know every line in his face, how could we not know how to pronounce his name?? The girl on E did pronounce it GruffuDD though, not Griffith. I am sure we will hear all kinds of wrong pronunciations when the movie comes out, but I am prepared for it. Don't we just hate it though when someone tries to act like an expert, when we know they are wrong?

I'm not an etymology expert, but I assume that Ioan is Welsh for Johann?
I'm sure if you asked Ioan, he would tell you that it's the Welsh variant of John, but he'd be wrong. It's actually the pure, unadulterated Latinate root for John. In the Baltics, especially in Lithuania, where the language is the closest thing to Latin that we have, you can't sneeze without knocking down a passel of people named Ioan, Ioannis, Ioanna, etc.
Thus endeth the etymology lesson.

Bouncing Ioan back up to the top again! http://apache.airnet.com.au/~fidge/jumping.gif While we're talking about the origins of his name, I rather like the meaning of "Gruffudd".... "This Welsh name means "Grip of the strong lord". The name given to kings and princes. Powerful and fair". And the meaning of Ioan.....
Meaning and origin of Ioan
Gender:
Male
Ethnic Origin:
Hebrew
Meaning:
Gift from God.
Numerology:
Expression Number 3: People with this name tend to be creative and excellent at expressing themselves. They are drawn to the arts, and often enjoy life immensely. They are often the center of attention, and enjoy careers that put them in the limelight. They tend to become involved in many different activities, and are sometimes reckless with both their energies and with money.
Hmmm....that definitely sounds like our Ioan to me!!!! :hyper:

IOAN Gender: Masculine
Usage: Romanian, Bulgarian, Welsh
Extra Info: Related Names (http://www.behindthename.com/php/extra.php?extra=r&terms=ioan), Name Days (http://www.behindthename.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?extra=d&terms=ioan)
Options: Contribute Information (http://www.behindthename.com/php/contribute.php?name=ioan) Romanian, Bulgarian and Welsh form of JOHN (http://www.behindthename.com/php/view.php?name=john)
I always thought the usage was strictly Celtic but it looks like it's used in Romania and Bulgaria too.

The shirt isn't ruffled, it's just the angle of the pic but I agree with you that this isn't a great looking shirt. Since he isn't carrying a worn out purse, I assume then that the "old bag" you are referring to is Alice?
I also just noticed that he's wearing both that shirt and the pin striped suit together in that first pic of AnotherIoanFan's collage. See....the guy isn't wild with money on the clothing end, that is!

Probably spends a lot on what he has, then proceeds to wear the hell out of it to get his money's worth. Which is probably what I would do if I actually spent money on what I wear.
Good grief, this is yet another way in which I'm a perfect match for Ioan. If only he felt the same way!

Looks like Ioan is over in London. He attended the "Elle Fashion Awards" on Tuesday Feb. 15th. I believe he presented Kate Blanchett her award.
I wonder if this means they aren't filming the rewrites yet (the end of Feb./the beginning of March rumor has it?) or he's already done with his part in it? Hmmmmmmm.

IMDB quotes
'The arses on the trousers aren't very tight. They're very loose and baggy and I like tight trousers. And the shoes - the shoes have got a bit of a heel, and it's a strange sensation for a man. Especially when you're running.' He mimes a mincing trot. 'I am mighty Hornblower! Watch me run like a girl!'
On his Titanic experience: "Yeah, I was lucky because I didn't have to spend hours in freezing water. There weren't many people my age on set so Kate, Leo and I hung out together. We would pile into Leo's dressing room, which was full of PlayStations, mini basketball hoops and the like."
On Horatio Hornblower: "I think people are attracted to the character because he's not a hero in the traditional sense. He's not a natural leader, he's just a young man with a very bright mind. He's compassionate, he hates injustice and he will stand up and fight when he's pushed to the limit."
"I'm determined not to lose my name. It's who I am. It has neither aided my progress nor hampered it. It's just who I am. My character. . . My make-up. My culture and heritage is a very rich one. So what if it's difficult for people to pronounce? We all learned how to say Schwarzenegger."

It sounds like they are at Doom's compound somewhere....and apparently it includes a hospital, among other things.....as far as the Frost Script is concerned......Sue was supposed to have dinner with Victor.....Ben set up a meeting between her and Reed..Sue thinks she is going to have one drink with Ben then dinner with Victor....Reed thinks he is meeting Ben as well......Ben leaves and goes back to his room.....Reed and Sue stay and talk over a drink......that is when they realize their gifts so to speak.....(all of this is immediately after their hospital stay.....hence the hospital band still on Reed's wrist....apparently they are still under observation at the hospital..... again all of this is speculation because of the re-writes....

I'm hoping that's because they've saved the really good stuff for when we actually see the movie. Anybody know for sure?

There've been several references, from Ioan and others, in the press to Mr. Fantastic turning into various things, and the extent of his powers, and one very specific description of a scene in which he stretches his neck. And this was all long before they enhanced his role in the finale. I think it's clear he'll have the powers he has in the comics.

I really can't imagine anyone else in the part. He just really seems to embody Reed Richards. It never occurred to me that he would be cast seeing as I didn't know much about him, but he just really seems right for the role. He has that very intense look that really suits Reed. There's one thing you must understand about Ioan fans: they are very nice, earnest types, not unlike their objet d'gush. It will take an avowed harpy like me to give you the answer you fully deserve. So here goes:
I'm sorry ladies, but this thread is so strange to me it isn't funny.
Well, you started it, didn't you? Now you know how Dr. Frankenstein felt, as his monster rampaged across the countryside wreaking havoc. Makes you feel kind of horrified and helpless, doesn't it? Next time, perhaps you'll be more careful.
Do I have to be a female in order to understand over half the things you all say?
If you can understand 10% of what is said here, you probably are female. Have you checked to see if this is, in fact, the case?
Mr Fantastic is a very cool and awesome mofo in my book, but there's only so far a straight guy like me can get into this multi-month long conversation.
So, you started this thread to talk about how Mr. Fantastic is a coll and awesome mofo? Oh, dear. Guess you shouldn't have included Ioan's name in the title. Mr. Fantastic never had a chance, any Ioan fan could have told you that. Another error from which you may, if you are wise, derive a lesson.
Everytime I look at this thread I feel like I'm walking into a girl's locker room
That makes sense. That's what it is. With elements of a slumber party and three-martini gal pal lunch thrown in.
where everyone just talks about Ioan and not about Reed Richard.
Reed is stretchy, looks hot in spandex, noble, and is the smartest man in the known universe. Ioan is the most beautiful, endearing dork in the known universe, and has curly hair and an enchanting accent to boot. There's really no comparison. Not to anyone with the most miniscule iota of a spark of discernment.
Is it because all those other guys are raiding the Alba and other hot women threads that you girls have to take it all out on my thread?

Well, you started it, didn't you? Now you know how Dr. Frankenstein felt, as his monster rampaged across the countryside wreaking havoc. Makes you feel kind of horrified and helpless, doesn't it? Next time, perhaps you'll be more careful. .This is alot worse, because it's based on a mental fixation of a man who just may be an A** hole in person. You don't know this guy except from what the media dishes out to you. It would be like me comparing the next girl I meet from now on to the likes of what I imagine Alicia Keys or even Jessica Alba in proper imagination etiquette and not as the real person who I don't know nor will I ever will most likely. The poor girl is hopeless.
If you can understand 10% of what is said here, you probably are female. Have you checked to see if this is, in fact, the case? Actually , I understand somewhere between 11% and 50%. I must officially be a man's man.
So, you started this thread to talk about how Mr. Fantastic is a coll and awesome mofo? Oh, dear. Guess you shouldn't have included Ioan's name in the title. Men in general are just doomed in that case, and it's not because of anything remotely Ioan or Reed. I guess I have no choice but to go visit my GF Alicia Keys in that case and think about you in order to get through the moment. thanks for keeping the dream alive.

Sorry, but I know of Ioan Gruffudd but never heard of Reed Richards till a few months ago! How can most of us talk about Reed when we have not read the comics, like, for 40 years or whatever. I am just getting to know Reed and he seems like a nice chap, as does Ioan.Oh, OK. In that case, go ahead and continue discussing Ioan and sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, you started it, didn't you? Now you know how Dr. Frankenstein felt, as his monster rampaged across the countryside wreaking havoc. Makes you feel kind of horrified and helpless, doesn't it? Next time, perhaps you'll be more careful. .
This is alot worse, because it's based on a mental fixation of a man who just may be an A** hole in person.
No way Ioan's as big an a$$hole in person as Frankenstein's monster. The monster throws kids in lakes, trashes nice blind men's houses, and leads hard working peasants on merry chases up mountains when they should be partying and getting wasted at wedding receptions. You are crazy, man. I am officially afraid of you now.
You don't know this guy except from what the media dishes out to you.
No way! Ioan and I are engaged, and we're going to live in a big castle and spend our lives raising purebred Andalusians! Stop harshing the buzz!
It would be like me comparing the next girl I meet from now on to the likes of what I imagine Alicia Keys or even Jessica Alba in proper imagination etiquette and not as the real person who I don't know nor will I ever will most likely.
Go ahead. Knock yourself out!

Ioan approves too. Look how happy he is for you!
Seriously. What if he turned out to have some real problems, like he had to walk to go anywhere, or he needs deodorant like the rest of us, or......lets say, he didn't fly, or what if he's got some real bad fetishes or something news worthy in the near future?
If he's got problems, they're his, not mine. Seriously, I do hope he wears deoderant, because not doing it and subjecting others to your body odor is seriously antisocial.

It will take an avowed harpy like me to give you the answer you fully deserve.
Thanks Mrs. F! I am too much a softie, but he does feel a bit left out I think! It's hard for anyone to compare, though isn't it?
Mr Fantastic is a very cool and awesome mofo in my book, but there's only so far a straight guy like me can get into this multi-month long conversation.
So, you started this thread to talk about how Mr. Fantastic is a coll and awesome mofo? Oh, dear. Guess you shouldn't have included Ioan's name in the title. Mr. Fantastic never had a chance, any Ioan fan could have told you that. Another error from which you may, if you are wise, derive a lesson.
Yeah, you tell 'em. He should've done a bit of research first to see what an overwhelming estrogen drive Ioan makes! He just makes me hot and bothered, luckily I'm married. Too bad I always swoon over the tall dark and handsome. :D
Everytime I look at this thread I feel like I'm walking into a girl's locker room
That makes sense. That's what it is. With elements of a slumber party and three-martini gal pal lunch thrown in.
I like that! Yep, that definitely sums it up!
where everyone just talks about Ioan and not about Reed Richard.
Do you really think Ioan is in the dork league? I do not think of him as dork quality....endearing, charming, brooding maybe to a point...but I don't think the word dork comes to mind....nope not at all.
Is it because all those other guys are raiding the Alba and other hot women threads that you girls have to take it all out on my thread?
Alba Schmalba. I have news for you, all of the hot women ARE on this thread. You just have to wade through 40 pages of Ioan love to mingle with us. Can't manage it? Your loss, bub. It was a test. And you failed.
Mrs. F.
You tell 'em! He asked for it when he put Ioan's name in the thread title....if all he wanted was to talk about Reed Richards, he shoudl've jusy said Mr. Fantastic! Thanks for finishing him off with both barrels (no offense 9mm).

OK everyone, I'm jealous of Ioan Gruffud getting to be Jessica's love interest. Jealousy is not good. It's bad. I need to change. But the key to heal myself of such jealousy is to be able to look apon the face of whom I envy.I need to discuss and express my frustrations. And I also need to become accepting of who he is. Therefore I open the Ioan Gruffud as Mr. Fantastic thread. Hopefully I'll be fully healed by next July......
Well, I think we've well and truly fullfilled your need to look upon the face (many, many times!!) of whom you envy Orange9mm. ;) And also hopefully helped you to become more accepting of who Ioan is... :p And you're now expressing and discussing your frustrations, which is very healthy and theraputic.... http://apache.airnet.com.au/~fidge/battingeyelashes.gif

Sorry this post is late. I see that you've already rescinded some of your previous statements. Thanks!! We all appreciate it! I won't bother then wasting any more valuable space in re-hashing what the other ladies already stated. I totally agree with what they said. No sense beating a horse to death.
I would like to make a few new points of my own, though. Sorry, but I just have to get this off of my chest. I really didn't appreciate being told that we all sucked. Not a nice word to use when addressing a lady. That's the kind of stuff I think is better thrown around with the guys, if you feel the need to have to use it at all. But I forgive you. :) Probably due to all of your frustration!
One last point of information that I'd like to correct. You stated that our feelings are all based on a perception of what we think the guy is and that none of us really know him. You said he could be an idiot or a jerk. Well it just so happens that several people have had the priviledge of meeting him in person both men and women...and I don't just mean for a two second autograph. Case in mind.....not long ago a few women ran into him in a hotel where they were lucky enough to be able to sit down in the lounge and spend a good 15-20 minutes talking with him! He was the one that made the suggestion to go somewhere and sit down. He didn't have to do that. He could have just signed a few things and went on his way. How many actor's would do that and for that length of time?
He also always seems to take the time on film sets to O.K. it for a fan that has shown up for an autograph to be let past security and meet with them for a minute or two. He truly appreciates his fans and he always says how he is humbled by it. He says it is still hard for him to accept all of this attention. Not only fans, but crew, cast and directors have had nothing but the highest praise for him when filming a project that he's on. They all have said you can't find a nicer guy and that he's a total consumate actor.
An "indie" film director posted on our Ioan board to report what a nice guy Ioan was to take the time out from his busy schedule with "FF" and star in a "short" film he was doing up there in Vancouver. Another gentleman posted that he was doing computer tech support for one of the "Hornblowers" and said that he never met a nicer actor (and he's worked on sets with several), that didn't display any of those "star airs" that a lot of them have.
See all of the stuff you're learning about Ioan? Maybe now you won't think that he's a possible jerk. Aren't you glad you didn't just make a thread about "Mr. Fantastic".
All kidding aside, thanks for keeping the thread open to both Ioan and "Mr. F" . I appreciate it! I'll try to insert a post once in a while about Reed but I can't guarantee anything! I think you guys are much more qualified to do that. Hey.....at least I'm trying with the other news/threads I contribute here, so maybe I don't "suck" so much after all.;)

I do. Less in appearance than in personality. He's spectacularly uncool. It's the thing -- besides the nose -- of which I am perhaps most fond.
Well, of course not in looks. It is good to know that he is uncool, but how do you mean? Everything I have read about him makes him seem pretty nifty. Of course, it's all in the definition of cool, now isn't it? That is a sliding scale for everyone. :)
But, of course people (fans) tend to get overwhelmed with the idea of celebrity. What they seem to lose sight of is that these are just people, who may be known worldwide and have plenty of money, but are just people nonetheless. I am happy to hear that he is not letting his superhero role taint who he is as a person. Just curious though, I have read that if one writes to him his mother is the one who reads/forwards/answers them. Is this still the case or have they gone with a professional service now that he is getting bigger parts?
Thanks for finishing him off with both barrels (no offense 9mm).

I'll bet that Frankenstein's monster is a real a$$hole when he's drunk. To the point of monkeydom, even. I'm not sure about stabbing in the back, though. He's not into cutlery. I'm sure he'd be more prone to just squashing people with his giant green fists. Ioan's a bit smoother than this. More like Dracula than Frankenstein.
