Does anybody here have some new info about additonal casting. I would think they may be announcing some of the actors by now, unless they are casting completely unknown australians in the movie, and leaving Nic as the sole draw for the film.
I would have thought the villians would be halfway recognizable actors.
What do you all think?(there isn't a thread for this already is there?) :hyper:

No info yet....but i wouldnt worry. sometimes they will wait right until the month of shooting to announce the rest of the cast.
more than likely they are probably making their final decisions on the rest of the cast now and signing contracts.
and i agree about the casting for the villains.....if you get a big name star as the hero you need someone halfway decent as the antagonist. im interested to see who Mark is gonna choose for Blackheart and Mephisto...wonder if hes going to pick some local talent in Australia?
Clayton Watson (from the Matrix films) may be in the movie....but no one knows what role he was going for.

Ghost Rider Casting Rumors, Location News
Clayton Watson (who played the Kid in two Matrix films) says he up for a role in Ghost Rider.
Clayton Watson (the Kid in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions) told The Advertiser he's up for a role in the upcoming Ghost Rider film.
"We're just sort of in talks about that at the moment," Watson said. "To play opposite Nic Cage would be awesome."
Meanwhile, director Mark Steven Johnson said filming will start Jan. 31, according to the Herald Sun. Half the film will be shot on the streets of Melbourne, Australia and the rest in Central City Studios at Docklands and at Broken Hill.
Melbourne beat out Sydney and Brisbane: "I just thought it was such a cooler town," he said. "This film is really going to be a showcase for Melbourne.
"There's a huge set-piece on the river downtown near an abandoned railway line, where we're having a big police chase with helicopters," he said.

Anyway...at the Blade Trinity premier there was a impromptu interview w/ Avi Arad (seen in the video at this site: http://www.iesb.net/movies2/movie121004c.php) and he said there will probably be casting announcements for GHOST RIDER in the next 10 days!

nothing new but Clayton Watson had a little bit of news (or "non-news" if you prefer :)) on GR. taken from the online Australian news sourse "The Advertiser":
"Let's not forget the possibility of Watson starring alongside Nicolas Cage and Jon Voight in a $40 million adaptation of the comic classic Ghost Rider for which he has auditioned.
"No news is usually good news," he says. "You know you're doing the gig when you're sitting on the plane drinking champagne." "
eh...not much but it might seem (at least to him) he could have a role in the film.

that article was posted on 12/14...so yeah it should be new. IMO its more than likely that the writer/interviewer was still going on the old info that Voight was still going to star. another case of not following up on the latest news...like that "Cage upset w/ script/ not gonna star" fiasco....
of course if the guy was a regular poster/reader of our Ghost Rider forums he would know better :D
ALTHOUGH...you never know at this point. maybe the producers changed thier minds and were able to get Voight in the movie somehow. can never tell w/ those Hollywood types...heh.

Cage running around in a skirt and red wig screaming in a high pitched voice "Help Johnny help me!!!" ....now THAT would make GR into a true horror film!! lol
i think they chose Australia just to tick us off....
1st they said they would film in Canada.....and then it was Texas.
BUT NOOOOOOOOOO......they had to chose Australia of all places! heh...
cant believe they were actually considering my home state of Texas for the film. ARGGHHHH!!!! so close.

here is the snippet concernig GR:
"Meanwhile, there's another long-cherished project on which Cage has set his heart - Ghost Rider, based on the Marvel Comics series about the eponymous demon motorcyclist. Having once been attached to the new Superman project - even getting as far as having fittings for the costume - it might be the nearest that Cage will ever get to playing a big-screen superhero.
"Ghost Rider is a project that I've been linked to for about four years now. I love the character, as I think he's fascinating and complex. As far as superhero films go, cinematically he's going to be the most interesting character ever in a movie.
"He's cinematically the most naturally fit. But it's still something we're talking about."

JEEEZ, I though this was already a done deal. I'm sure at this point, Cage has been signed for awhile, but I guess you never know.
Have you noticed that when one article comes out spreading doubt about Cage's casting another report comes out almost immediately saying he's a lock. I feel both of these recent reports are bogus and just articles put together from other reports.
I was hoping to hear something about the rest of the cast by now, especially after what Avi said. Although, I followed what he says for awhile now and he always exaggerates most things. He kept saying there would be a director for the FF movie announced on certain dates and they were always way off. However, despite his dates being almost always wrong, if he said something was to be announced, the announcement did come eventually.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed until filming actually starts.

"In January, once "Lord of War" wraps, Cage will begin shooting "Ghost Rider," a dream movie for the avid comic-book fan who was once in talks to play Superman.
"Comic books were one of the ways I learned how to read," Cage said. "I was always fascinated by the mythology of them. I discovered a kindred spirit in Stan Lee. I always felt they would be successful as films even before they became successful. They're a wonderful sort of alternative world to lose yourself in."

also came across this small blurb from this VFX school site, seems one of their alumni will be working on Ghost Rider:
http://www.gnomon3d.com/newsletter_120704.html
" Clint Reagan has also made the long plane trip “down under” to work doing previs on Ghost Rider at Halon Entertainment"
for those that dont know "previs" is short for "previsualization"....animation/drawing that shows the shot movements for a given scene that the director wants to have done.

Heres some more news on Ghost Rider. New quote from Cage:
EVENING TIMES (UK):
The two projects Cage is contemplating illustrate his range. One is a remake of The Wicker Man set in California and written and directed by acclaimed playwright Neil La Bute. The other is an adaptation of the cult Marvel Comic, Ghost Rider. Cage is a comic book fan and even took his name from the Marvel character Luke Cage - his real name is Nicholas Coppola.
"I feel like I'm allowed to explore and challenge all the characters," he says.
"Whether it's in an adventure film or an independent movie.
"It just keeps me fresh, keeps me interested. And," he adds, "both are honest."

From the HERALD SUN (AUSTRALIA) - September 26, 2004:
NICOLAS CAGE
THE eccentric Hollywood heavyweight is heading our way to film big-budget flick Ghost Rider for several months next year.
Not exactly shy and retiring, the Oscar winner will certainly let Melburnians know he is in town. He has reportedly rented a palatial home in Brighton.
Cage, 40, may bring his latest wife, former sushi waitress Alice Kim, 20, with him. They have been married five months.
Cage separated from his first wife, Patricia Arquette, after nine months and his second wife, Lisa Marie Presley, after 107 days.
If Kim's relationship survives the Ghost Rider shoot, she will become his most long-lived spouse -- something to celebrate.

That is true....lots of stuff should be happening in Jan.
Elektra is opening on Jan 14th and normally it seems Marvel likes to have at least 2 weeks of hype before a film opens. it would make sense that Marvel wouldnt want to "steal the spotlight" from a new film opening w/ casting announcements for another film thats set to shoot in a few weeks.
im thinking the producers will more than likely wait until the dust settles after Elektra opens and then make their official cast announcements for GR.
would also be cool if there was a press conference in Australia (would probably happen in early Febuary) w/ Cage, MSJ, and some other cast and crew members to talk briefly about the film similar to what Lions Gate did for the Punisher and 20th Cent Fox did for Fantastic Four at the San Diego Comic Con.

As most of you know, Matt Norman (CEO of The Actors Cafe Pty Ltd) is also an actor. Matt has been given a role in the new Nicholas Cage film "Ghost Rider" which started shooting in February. Matt jumped through the roof with the news that he would be playing opposite Cage in this $40Mil US blockbuster. To be in a film that Cage is in is one thing, to be in the same scene with an idol of mine is completely different. Also Matt's two sons are completely over the moon with this news. Being huge fans of this genre of film makes them very proud of their old man.!
FORMER Big Brother survivor Vincent Amato has returned to his pre-reality TV life and is working as a structural engineer in Melbourne.
However, there is still a little bit of the showbiz bug in him. Amato has scored the potentially bruising job as US actor Wes Bentley's body double on the action blockbuster Ghost Rider. Bentley plays the film's bad guy character, Blackheart.
Now, though, things couldn't be more different. With two Hollywood productions - Columbia's Ghost Rider and Paramount's Charlotte's Web - spending a combined $80 million here, the state's production slate is already well up on last year. According to Film Victoria, the value of productions up to mid-February was already around $164 million.
Ghost Rider is Mr Walsh's second production in Australia; last year he made the military adventure Stealth in Sydney. When director Mark Steven Johnson looked at Melbourne, Mr Walsh says, "he fell in love with it, especially the laneways and the architecture and the river with the network of bridges". (Before you go getting a warm, fuzzy feeling, he adds that Ghost Rider is set in a "nondescript city in Texas".)
Mr Walsh was speaking to The Sunday Age at the end of the first week of shooting in and around the motorcycle precinct in Elizabeth Street.
"It was difficult," he says of the night shoot that involved 200 people and 45 trucks loaded with gear, "but not insurmountable".
In a few weeks, the bar will be raised just a little higher when the second unit starts work - that's another 150 people and 30 trucks of gear. It dwarfs anything Melbourne has seen before in terms of movie productions, and it demands a high degree of flexibility on the part of the council, the Melbourne Film Office and other interested parties.
But if it all comes off, the rewards are potentially enormous. "I wouldn't say Melbourne is being held hostage," says Mr Walsh. "But what I see here with Ghost Rider and Charlotte's Web is the challenge to open this city up as a competitor to Sydney and the Gold Coast (Movie World)."
He says that, to the best of his knowledge, Nicolas Cage has no intention of flying back to Los Angeles during the Ghost Rider shoot. And he says co-star Peter Fonda plans to spend his entire time in Australia, despite a seven-week break in filming.
to add to that report, Melbourne isn't being held hostage due to the crew, but with the F1 also happening down the road from Melbourne, the city isn't the easier place to navigate at the moment.
thankfully i catch the train, which is see hardly any disruption (except for a scene MSJ said they'll shoot on the train tracks).
that being said, i've heard people whinge about not being able to get a car spot here in melbourne now. whingers! personally i would love for more productions to happen in melbourne, especially comic book ones.

Sounds like Australia is a busy place these days. That's awesome!
Hmm... I'm wondering about Matt Norman. Do you think he's going to be playin Blackheart as Blackheart in his real form? Perhaps Wes didn't want to go through the extensive makeup or something? Matt does look bigger (from what I can tell) than Wes..

Not really big news but news looks like it is kinda slow right now so I put this up here.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but I may as well say it here since you brought the topic up. There was a small article in the Herald Sun (15th of March) mentioning her.
'Wilson, who poked a little fun at herself in that horrid gold dress for Aussie Idol and also appeared on Pizza, has been cast in two scenes with Nic Cage. Her speaking role is lovingly dubbed as "White Trash Girl".'
Lucky person... I'd give anything to be in that movie...

WHEN times are tough, the public wants to laugh. In that case, nervous home buyers should head south for the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Funny buggers can spring up anywhere. The polyester legend, Bob Downe, comes from Newcastle, droll Corinne Grant from Corryong, and young Rebel Wilson from Sydney's Hills district - not quite as exotic as Richard Pryor who grew up in a brothel, but they're what we've got and we'll have to make do.
Downe, Grant and Wilson are just three of almost 200 comics from around the world who will appear in Melbourne over four weeks. Is the city ready for such heavyweights as Steven Wright and Rich Hall, old favourites such as Downe, Wil Anderson and Sue-Ann Post, and a rash of newcomers? Festival director and comedy wrangler Susan Provan says audiences flock to the city for the silly season, ready and willing to pay good money to laugh until they snort beer out of their nose.
"It's developed over the years as the smart place for comics, writers and festival directors and scouts from TV, radio and advertising to come and see what is the current state of the world of comedy," she says.
Word of mouth is the festival's most important marketing tool, Provan says, and word is out on young Rebel Wilson. She's just landed a part as a goth girl rescued by Nicolas Cage in Ghost Rider, which is filming in Melbourne now, and there are rumours of a new TV show in the offing.
At 24, Wilson has finally made the break from the outer suburbs to the city and is ensconced in a tiny apartment in Newtown, in Sydney's inner west. She's given up her job at the Castle Hill Greater Union multiplex, where she had the surreal experience of selling tickets to her own movie (Fat Pizza) and seeing herself on screen while sweeping up popcorn. "People would go, 'Hey you were in that movie?' It was embarrassing. I was famous but not rich."
For her character-based live work, the softly spoken Wilson taps into her own life and adventures, whether in the suburbs - the heartland of Australia, she says fondly - or further afield. Her first shows, The Westie Monologues and Spunks, skewered life in the 'burbs, but Wilson says she's laughing with, not at, her fellow westies. "They're just as intelligent and classy as anyone, just in a different way," she says. Her other role, as Greek goddess and nunchaku expert Toula on the SBS comedy Pizza, has given her a legion of fans.
The Wilson bio goes like this. A quiet, brainy, unassuming girl turns 14, comes out of her shell and begins cracking jokes in class, locking teachers in cupboards and generally causing mayhem at school. Naturally enough, she becomes very popular - and she still comes top in maths. At 19, she decides to become an actor and, in 2003, after studying at Australian Theatre for Young People, goes to New York, courtesy of Our Nic.
"I got an international scholarship that Nicole Kidman initiated. You decide where you want to go to further your career, so I chose to go Second City television, which is where all the big comedy names in the US come out of - Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, all the Saturday Night Live players. It's a powerhouse. There's no real comedy schools in Australia. You try your hand at it and if you're good you keep going and if you're not ... die on stage and never come back."
After comedy school, Wilson landed her first serious job in television, as the feisty Toula. "It's guerilla television," she says. "We're always out on location. At the moment we're filming in Fairfield, and it's always 35C and we're in full-on tracksuits, and there's a hundred extras, from Bankstown and Liverpool. It's always chaos - someone's car is being broken into while we're filming. It's very spontaneous."
Her new show, Confessions of an Exchange Student, is based on her time in South Africa when she was 18. She lived on the outskirts of Johannesburg, in an Afrikaans enclave. "You would still think apartheid was going on. It was a very racist area. All the white people lived in big mansions, it was very violent. You had all the guns in the car, everyone has armed security. There's a lot of serious issues, so I needed a few years to digest the experience, in order to turn it into a comedy show."
She confesses to being slightly nervous about her first appearance in Melbourne and meeting her fellow comics there. "I've got some things in the show which are pretty offensive, pretty gross ... also, comedians are a weird breed of people, and there's not that many girls down there. Someone told me the statistic is one girl to 30 males at the festival. Maybe that just makes the girls a bit more special."
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, next Wednesday to April 17.

HOLLYWOOD star Susan Sarandon felt quite at home in Williamstown last week, grabbing a bite to eat in Nelson Place and shopping in the nearby stores while on a break from filming her latest movie, Irresistible.
Sarandon and Sam Neill were shooting scenes for the drama on Gem Pier, in the Commonwealth Reserve opposite Nelson Place, and at the Williamstown Cemetery.
Sarandon is not the only visiting Hollywood star who will get to experience the delights of Melbourne's West, with the big budget US feature Charlotte's Web taking over part of Nelson Place early next month.
Child star Dakota Fanning headlines the Charlotte's Web shoot, which will have part of Nelson Place's historic streetscape transformed into a New England town.
The majority of the filming has been done on location at the tiny town of Greendale, about 15 minutes out of Bacchus Marsh.
However, the production will role into Williamstown for filming on April 6 and 7.
According to traders in the area, Paramount Pictures has negotiated compensation for business owners affected by the closure of part of the busy tourist and restaurant strip.
Meanwhile, Melburnians hoping to get a blink-and-you-miss-it moment of fame in Ghost Rider are out of luck.
The production has scrapped a plan to film an enormous crowd scene at Telstra Dome. Scenes will still be shot there, although computer-generated figures will now be used in place of a live crowd.

That's odd...
If the camera doesn't have to zoom on the crowd the cg option is probably the best: with the actual tecnology you can make it move as you wish, decide the % and composition of people. And by blurring it a little(because it would be in background in the scenes) it should be perfect.
Probably MSJ opted for CG because of the mess, time, organization of people ecc...

HOLLYWOOD HITS TOWN
HOWDY, PARTNER: Texas came to Anakie yesterday as a film crew set up this road sign on Bacchus Marsh Road for the Nicolas Cage movie Ghost Rider. Photo: ALISON WYND

NICOLE MAYNE
MOVIE star Nicolas Cage is headed our way to film part of his latest Hollywood project.
Cage will be in town in June to shoot scenes for the $100 million film Ghost Rider near Anakie.
The film is based on a Marvel Comics character who avenges injustice on a motorcycle engulfed in flames.
Co-starring Eva Mendes and Wes Bentley, it will be the major summer release for Columbia Pictures in 2006.
A film crew was on location in Geelong this week to film an actor-free scene for Ghost Rider.
The 80-strong team last night spent 10 hours shooting on the Bacchus Marsh Road, in a stretch of paddocks resembling Texas.
An unfamiliar cactus planted by the roadside and a big sign welcoming motorists to Texas helped recreate a slice of the US state.
Location manager Russell Boyd said the 10 hours' filming of the hero's bus travelling would produce about five seconds of screen time.
``They are shooting one shot and (the bus) is travelling through the rain,'' Mr Boyd said.
``What will be seen is like a real Texas location.''
Two trucks were on the set yesterday afternoon to provide the rain, with stadium lights being set up to create artificial moonlight.
Dozens of people in bright orange safety jackets rushed around in preparation for rolling the cameras.
Mr Boyd said Cage would come to Geelong later in the 18-week shooting schedule to film scenes at nearby grain silos.
He will bring with him the main filming unit, which has about 250 crew.
Scouting for Ghost Rider started in September, with the director and producer visiting locations in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
It will be shot at sites across the state and at film studios in Melbourne.
``These shows aren't new to Australia but they are to Victoria,'' Mr Boyd said. ``This is certainly the highest budget production Victoria has had by a mile.''
Mr Boyd said Geelong was a stand-out location because of its variety.
``Certainly the proximity of Geelong to Melbourne and what Geelong offers film location wise is quite exceptional,'' he said. ``It is the same comparison of what the Gold Coast is to Brisbane or Newcastle to Sydney.''
He also credited the City of Greater Geelong's film unit, Film Geelong, with helping attract such big projects to the region.
Geelong has also secured locations in an Australian adaptation of Macbeth due to start production later this year.

No sorry. The whole scene was was pretty much badly acted...including Mendes. She did fine with all of the other scenes when she wasn't acting like a reporter. Rebel Wilson delivered the line "it was all flames and stuff" pretty well but everything else that came out of her mouth was a very bland delivery. Guys, I'm sure she was directed to say the lines that way... and I still think it works perfectly. It's funny. It's supposed to be said straight like that to make it funny. Plus, she's also trying to get accross that she's a goth chick and these people are very apathetic about everything... even a flamin' headed demon.
I do like your idea BG about having it play on a TV though. It's likely that it will be like that in some way.

You have to realize that this goth chick probably didn't think Ghost Rider burning skull was real. She was probably taking it as some sort of new Gothic wave or something. She did say "He has a Rad chopper"... which means that crazy lookin' think didn't faze her as well.
Also, we have no idea how Ghost Rider and her met. If Ghost Rider saved her or something, then she's not going to fear him. Anyway, I still think it's funny... but again, that's just me.

I was checkin' out the IMDB boards today and somebody posted there saying that they were a frined of Andersons and that he is NOT in the movie.
We're family friend's of Angry Anderson, and on his behalf I would like to take this opportunirt to deny that he has any involvement in Ghost Rider
Interesting.

Yeah, there are some definate spoilers in this information. We know at least that somebody besides BlackHeart gets the Penance Stare...
Also, if the News Reporter is Linda... that would be awesome. Strange she's not credited that way though...

MSJ could cast someone to play a certain badass cop named Mike Badlino, right guys? Just to please us all...
But anyway, that´s cool enough. MSJ rules.
