SuperTed is a Welsh language (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welsh_language) animated television (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television) series from the United Kingdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom) that first aired on 1 November (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_1) 1982 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982). It was commissioned by Welsh television channel S4C (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S4C), and later dubbed into English. The series won numerous awards, including the 1987 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1987) BAFTA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Academy_Television_Awards) for best animation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animation). It was also produced by Siriol Animation (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Siriol_Animation&action=edit) and Kalato Ltd (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalato_Ltd) in association with Abbey Home Media (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abbey_Home_Media&action=edit).
SuperTed is the creation of Mike Young, who now works out of his studios in California (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California), USA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA), along with his wife, Fiona. SuperTed was created as a bedtime story for his young son, who was very afraid of the dark.
Every episode starts with the tale of how SuperTed came to life: He was a teddy bear (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_bear) found to be defective in the toy factory where he was made, and then disposed of into a storeroom in the basement. A Spotty man found him there and brought him to life with his "cosmic dust". He was later taken to Mother Nature (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother_Nature) and given magical (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical) powers that enabled him to fight evil. This evil invariably takes the form of Texas Pete (An evil cowboy) and his gang; Bulk (an overweight, bumbling fool) and Skeleton (an undead cowardly skeleton with pink slippers). Texas Pete's plots are generally aimed at advancing his own wealth and power or the destruction of SuperTed, his nemesis.
SuperTed's powers are activated by his "secret magic word", which (as the name suggests) remains a secret. SuperTed whispers it every time he or someone else is in peril and he transforms into a Superman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superman)-like red suit with rockets built in to the boots. These allow him to fly. In one episode, Bulk overhears the secret magic word and also whispers it, briefly acquiring identical powers to SuperTed. However, he subsequently forgets the word. The magic word is often humorously regarded as "being a profanity"
The episodes take place all over the world (but quite often in Wales) and even in space (SuperTed being the owner of his own space station). He also has a tree house in an unspecified jungle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungle).
In 1992, Superted was revived in America by Hanna Barbera (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna_Barbera) (who also made Fantastic Max (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantastic_Max), another Mike Young creation) this time named The Further Adventures of Superted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Further_Adventures_of_Superted). Only Jon Pertwee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Pertwee) returned from the original cast to voice Spotty. The new series takes on a more epic format, often splitting its episodes into two parts: Texas Pete, Bulk, and Skeleton are joined also by new, original villains and the theme song was also ditched for a more dramatic overture. This Superted series is considered poor quality, inferior to the original and did not last beyond one season, the reason for this however, is unclear.
SuperTed has many similarities to Captain Marvel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel). Like Captain Marvel, SuperTed gets his powers from saying a word. SuperTed's costume is very similar to that of Captain Marvel. SuperTed was given his powers by a being known as Mother Nature, much like how Captain Marvel's powers were given by the wizard Shazam.
SuperTed also appeared in a Public Information Film (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_Information_Film), along with Spotty & his sister, Blotch. The film, commissioned by the now defunct 'Central Office of Information', was entitled "Supersafe with SuperTed", and featured the three characters being flown to Earth by SuperTed, in order to teach Spotty how to cross the road safely. The action takes place in an animated version of Cardiff city centre, where the old Crest Hotel, Cardiff Castle and orange double deckers can be seen. A flashback during the short reveals an incident when Spotty very nearly got killed, running across the road on the planet Spot (his home), to talk to his sister.
SuperTed proceeds during the animation, to teach Spotty the right way to cross the road, i.e not running, not standing behind vehicles, etc. He then warns the viewer that He "can't always be there to save you, especially on planet Earth".

Depends. Definitely had a rough time durring the last portion, particularly the mix up between Exile island and immunity and all that crap.

But, admit it, TEDDY'S SECRET STASH was the coolest award EVER! And people will be talking about this for a while. And I made my prediction of coming back into the game come true.

Worst as far as following rules and keeping order, perhaps. Worst as far as keeping things lively and entertaining? Come on! TEDDY!

Teddy, would a Utilitarian society dissolve into hedonism due to the inability of humanity to tech altruism, or will it simply continue to function as well as a Kantian society? I'm asking because I've never been clear whether Utilitarianism was ever meant to be a society system or merely a reflection of a goal driven life that many lead.

I think acheiving Hedonism is practically the goal of every society, including Utilitarian society. Sadly, it is impossible to plese everyone in a society. It's a nice concept, but it will never work. Likewise, a Utilitarian society wouldn't work because everyone has their own moral code. What's right for you may not be right for all. Unless a concise list of moral code is prescribed, it would never work.

I call this story

A Boy and His Bear

Once upon a time a little boy was given a stuffed teddy bear as a gift. The boy loved the teddy bear and the teddy bear loved him. They would play for hours and hours together.

Years began to pass and the little boy began to grow older.
"I'm 6 years old now, Teddy," he told his bear friend,"and I'm afraid I no longer need a teddy bear..."
"Nonesense," he assurred the little boy,"Who will protect you from the things that go bump in the night?"
"You will protect me?" the little boy asked.
"Always and forever." the bear replied.
So whenever the little boy was scared at night, he would squeeze his teddy bear and sleep knowing that he was safe from the boogey man.

Years began to pass and the little boy grew to be a teen.
"I'm 13 years old now, Teddy," he told his bear friend,"and I'm afraid I no longer need a teddy bear..."
"Nonsense," he assurred the little boy,"Who will be there to help you feel better when your feeling blue?"
"You will help me?" the little boy asked.
"Always and forever." the bear replied.
So whenever the little boy felt sad or lonely, he would hug his teddy bear and tell him his problems. And Teddy would always listen.

Years began to pass and the little boy had finally grown into an adult.
"I'm 18 years old now, Teddy," he told his bear friend,"and I'm afraid I no longer need a teddy bear..."
"Nonsense," he assurred the little boy,"Who will be looking after your room while they wait for you to return?"
"You will wait for me?" the little boy asked.
"Always and forever." the bear replied.
So as the little boy stepped forth into the world to make a place for himself, he felt confident knowing that his teddy bear would be there waiting for him.

Years began to pass...

and pass...

and pass...

and still, the bear waited, hoping that one day the little boy would return.
Finally, one day, the little boy returned. He was no longer the young child the bear had known, but a full grown man.
"Little boy... is that you?" the bear asked.
"Yes, Teddy. It's me." the boy answered.
"Well little boy," the bear sighed, "your 30 years old now. And I'm afraid you no longer need a teddy bear..."
"Nonsense," replied the little boy,"Who protected me when I needed to feel safe? Who helped me when I was feeling blue? Who waited for me to return home? You were there when I needed you, teddy bear. And when I have children, you will be there for them as well when they need you."
"You need me?" the bear asked.
"Always and forever." the little boy replied.

Always and forever.

Raped by a grizzly, now I'm starting to see where this fetish of yours is coming from. Did Daddy make you do somthing to him whilst your teddy watched on. Did you wish you could be that teddy so you wouldnt have to endure the hours of abuse whilst mommy was out working the night shift?

Wow. A smart, witty comeback. Well done. Somebody has obviously been home schooled... too bad you don't have a home. Sorry, Lil Billy, an orphanage is not the proper home for a child.

But who knows. Maybe if you drink your milk, eat your vegetables, say no to drugs, and respect your elders than maybe one day you'll get adopted again... Maybe.
