This film was very well done, and a lot better than I thought it might be. I took a chance and went to see it, and was not disappointed.

Tagline There's more than one way to lose your life to a killer.
Speaks volumes.
I was surprised by how they took me through the decides ever so gingerly. I appreciate that,I hate to be jolted. I had no idea how long this movie was I'm glad I saw it in the afternoon. *whew* I've never seen anything with Gyllenhaal but I was very impressed, very endearing and effortless actor. Ruffalo is a sexy beast,I must have him.
So anyway,I loved it. :yay:

Movie was great, I saw it on Sunday and answered a lot of questions I had about the Zodiac.  way
What made the movie even creeper was the fact that I live and grew up here in the Bay Area, of course it's more than 30 years later but still it helped with the creep factor.
I highly recommend the movie to anyone heading out to pay $8-$10+ depending where you live. I haven't seen anything lately other than this movie. But I have seen enough movies to know what I like, what I don't, what other people like (in a broad generalization) and what is/isn't worth my money.
This film definitely worth my money. I would give it a solid 7/10 at least a 7/10.

Zodiac almost has a documentary feel to it, very subtle but it's there.
I guess it's because it follows a timeline very closely.

Question:
Am I the only person who was pretty disappointed by this film? I liked it, but I thought it was lacking something, and I don't know what.
It was intriguing, and engaging, and I was entertained, but felt that I was waiting for something that never happened.
I think maybe I was expecting another Se7en, and Zodiac had an entirely different life about it.
Thoughts?

The answer? People often always want to know what happend and have things explained to them. Leaving things with open endings often doesn't sit well with them.

There's some scenes in this movie which gave me the kind of creeps I haven't had in awhile.
When Graysmith is in Vaughn's house near the end of the movie. It gets even more tense when he's down in the basement. And when he runs to get out of the house, then realizes the front door is locked, I got goosebumps when that guy appears behind him. That whole scene gave me the chills.

You can thank the audiences of America for this double dip (Zodiac was a box office disappointment), since they chose to watch s**t like Premonition over Zodiac.

Good. I just bought the version released today and it's ridiculously basic... No extras. Nothing.
Edit: Of course there is a section titled "Previews," which provides information about the 2008 Director's Cut, which includes:
Audio commentary by David Fincher, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rober Downey Jr., James Vanderbilt, Brad Fischer, and special guest, James Ellroy.
An in-depth examination of the Zodiac's actual crimes.
Interviews with the original investigators, survivors, and informants.
Extensive behind-the-scenes supplements covering nearly every aspect of the creation of David Fincher's landmark film.

I also enjoyed the hardware store meeting with Graysmith and Allen. Just looking into his eyes, that just felt satisfying. You know going in that the killer was never caught but somehow not having anyone shot or arrested it still doesn't ruin the movie.
I thought it was fantastic. One of the best movies I've seen in a while.
Agreed as well. As soon as it was over I was hitting the DVD chapters and rewatch some scenes. I missed some items, you pick up more details and the film becomes better. Can't wait for the Director's Cut. It wasn't the film I was expecting, it has the All The President's Men feel to it, which I enjoyed.

I watched the film at my cottage alone in the pitch black, so that creeped me out a bit but the funny thing is the creepy man who drew the movie posters voiced Roger Rabbit and was the mechanic in Back to the Future II. So after bringing something very enjoyable as a child, he creeps me out as an adult. I too would've run up the stairs like that.

Couldnīt prove it, he was pretty much the only seriously investigated suspect, but they couldnīt prove he was the Zodiac through handwriting and fingerprints...
Allen's shoe size (10.5) and glove size were the same as the killer's. He owned and regularly wore a Zodiac-brand sports watch with the same logo as the killer. Allen lived in Vallejo, across the street from where one of the first victims (Darlene Ferrin) worked, and near where one of the killings took place. When interviewed by police, Allen mentioned without being questioned that he had bloody knives in his car on the day of the Lake Berryessa attack, claiming they were covered in chicken blood. Allen also stated that he was a fan of the book The Most Dangerous Game, which the Zodiac killer had alluded to several times in his letters.
Perhaps the most significant evidence against Allen were statements made by a former acquaintance, Don Cheney. Cheney told the San Francisco Police Department that Allen told him that he wanted to kill people (including children) and told him exactly how he would go about doing it. He also mentioned the name Zodiac. Allegedly, these statements had been made before the actual murders took place.
While many believe that Allen was the Zodiac killer, Allen had been cleared several times during the investigation of the murders and the simultaneous hunt for the killer. These included passing a polygraph test, clearing a fingerprint screening (from those left at the crime scene of the taxicab murder), clearing a handwriting test and, most recently in 2002, being ruled out by a DNA test conducted based on DNA collected from one of the stamps of the Zodiac letters.
Book and film
Robert Graysmith's book identifies Allen as the Zodiac killer. The 2007 film Zodiac by David Fincher thoroughly makes a case for Allen as the killer. A notable theory that was presented in the film and the book is that Allen knew and dated Darlene Ferrin, one of the first victims of the Zodiac killer. The film also suggested that Allen did not work alone, and that his letters or other parts involved with the murders were not all done by him. This would explain why the evidence never fully matched for Allen.
I'd like to know where Allen found these chickens and any remains of the chickens besides the bloody knives.
They had a partial fingerprint and the handwriting analysis didn't seem that solid if the expert was fired. I would want to get many independent opinions on the handwriting and they had a warrant for his trailer, he actually had a house but didn't search that.

like always amazing fincher film and really holds true to the "detective" genre.
im really glad it was a movie written solely on files and facts and didnt veer off into the characters personal lives. directors do that waaay too often nowadays, thinking audiences need a relatable character when all you want is to go on with the story.
the only thing i didnt like is how robert downeys character really didnt go anywhere. i enjoyed the hell out of him and im sure thats what really happened but still, it almost made me wish that they cut him out more just to trim the time.

There's a 52 minute making of. A 1hr. 30min. documentary on the Zodiac and three of his murders, and a 40min. documentary on Arthur Leigh Alan. Zodiac is one of my favorite 2007 films, I thought it was genuinely creepy and overall, well written and directed. I remember reading the Zodiac book years ago, quite a chilling case.

Yeah, Fincher and crew went all out in making the documentaries. They even include the actual crime scene photos and news footage, including when the Zodiac called into that news program. And Hartnell, who survived the stabbing at the lake, said that scene was so well done and realistic that he had to look away from the screen, because it made feel like he was there again. And we get to see the real car door that the Zodiac wrote on after that attack and Hartnell sees it in person.
And that has to be one of my favourite DVD covers.
Same here, I just wish it was more like the package like Seven or Fight Club.

It's a movie that gets better every time. I've seen it only twice now. The first time in the theater I thought it was good. The second time around on DVD, I changed my opinion to ''phenomenal''.

I know this is a random bump, but I was watching this again for about the 5th time. And it's now officially my favorite David Fincher film. It's just that damn good.

Yeah, definitely buy the director's cut. There isn't much added to the film, but the documentaries are fantastic.
The Spanish Director's Cut digipak is quite nice looking:

I've had Hurdy Gurdy Man stuck in my head off and on for the past couple days. Awesome song to end the film.

Very cool dvd edition! Too bad the movie wasn't all that... I mean, it had tons of atmosphere, great acting and was shot impeccably by Fincher, but ultimately the story left me very cold. Probably the effect of it being "a true story" and you have to tell the events as they happened, boring as that sometimes may be...

I love this film. It's one that you get hooked into..It paces so well, you hardly notice how long it is.
I hear the special edition is pretty great. But every where I turn, I just find the single disc, anyone know where I can find it?

No, in England we put the day frist and then the month while in America it's the other way round.

Yeah most American systems don't make sense compared to the rest of the world.
Isn't USA like one of the two or three countries who put month before day?

I bought this movie a year ago but I never bothered to watch it. Since I'm on break, I decided to watch it. It's a great movie. The CGI was amazing in this movie. I thought everything was filmed until I read about it. The taxi murder scene and the Zodiac killer's second killing were the best shots. My favorite scene had to be when Graysmith was at Bob Vaughn's house. That was definitely a Fincher moment.
The film is a little long and drags a bit in the second act, but overall I'm sure it had to be that long to get all the facts in there. Those are my only complaints. It was interesting to see just how the Zodiac killer's influence was so strong, everyone was a victim in one form or another.

It's a wonderful film. Maybe not the best word for something filled with some pretty grim stuff, but it's just such a well-made movie.

I'm watching it right now on FX and I've been pretty tense throughout and freaking out over it. Really good film.

It was good, but I felt it dragged on too long. Some really good scenes though. I think overrated and underrated at the same time.
