Guess we'll find out tonight....

WOWOWOWOWOW.
Alecia in thigh highs; BEST EPISODE EVER!!!
I thought that there was supposed to be a cliff hanger?? Although there was one last episode it just never picked up again. I was a little disapointed with that.
Chloe knew Clark was hiding something and flat out asked him. Even if he went the denial route they should have shown something.
So has anyone here not gathered who finds out next episode???
It looks good from the preview, although it seem Alecia just keeps going off the deep end. Too bad, I like her.
Oh and that mother son talk between Martha and Clark, WOW Tom's acting was good there. To bad it's not always that good.

Red K? Bring it ON babe!! Yes, we have a new use for Kryptonite (red variety): Viagra for Kryptonians. Hee!!
Great performances from everybody, and I'm glad to see this ep was more Clark-centric. Okay, I'm biased. Sue me. :p
This ep should have been the cliffhanger before the winter hiatus instead of Scare. Sheesh, I hardly remember that ep. But Unsafe is gonna go down in SV lore as a must see. Watch it happen! Yesseree Bob!
Next episode? Now that we know what Clark does, I can't wait to see Chloe's face when she sees him do it.
Ok they still didn't explain how Alicia knows about the red kryptonite, the writers also made a mistake about Jimmy, no way is he the same age as Clark or Chloe. Jimmy was always years younger then Clark, dumb*** writers

Guys, remember Clark is held to a higher standard, by Martha and Jonathan. It is what makes him becomes the most powerful being who could rule but instead decides to help.
The thing is this, Clark knows what red K does. He recognizes how it feels. and don't think he didn't recognize it and accept the feelings. He was feeling lonely and like most teenage boys, horny (did I say most... I meant all;)) and when he felt that red k go thru him, he knew it. He accepted the feeling and decided to go with it. He can stop, if he wants to. He could remove the source. He wanted to go with Alicia, he even admits that. And the red k lets him forget his upbringing and do what he knows he shouldn't do.

Clark asked her how she knew, she said she knew "everything" about him... As for the Jimmy thing that was just a nod to the character since he'd most likely never be seen on the show, not implying she slept with the actual Jimmy Olsen....

Doesn't explain how she knew the red K would do that, somehow I doubt Clark would leave any notes or something like that around.
and you could be right it's just a nod to the character of Jimmy but the writers have screw up before about Superman mythos.

You know, it's not just the amazing visuals..(sorry guys, but was Alicia even in that room?;)), but the completely convincing HORNY Clark portrayal.. Damn..I started wondering if he was even acting. I've already read people busting on Martha and Jonathan for being pissed at Clark..since he was under the influence of Red-K. But like Clark said, he wanted Alicia with or without the Red-K. It was his poor judgement that they are pissed at him for.. an understandable position IMO, for his parents to take. She's not exactly the girl I'd want dating my son either.

ROFL! Have to admit.. his "lats" weren't exactly what I thought of when you said "PACKAGE." :D:D:D But um.. yeah, his body is truly a work of art. I can't WAIT for the screen caps on this one.
To bring up the considerably less exciting sex story in this ep.. I thought the Lana/Jason stuff was well done, but risky. They really took Lana and made her the cliche' girlfriend trying to win over a boy by giving him sex. It's a very real issue for a LOT of girls, so I respect the public message-ness of it. On the other hand, it took Lana back a few notches from where I had hoped she'd matured to. I guess she's really not that experienced of a girl though, so it's not entirely unbelievable that she'd find herself in the same situation a lot of girls do. Jason was pretty gallant about the whole thing.. he's such a nice guy.
I admit to being a little sad at the obvious loss of any possible reconciliation of Lana and Clark. :(
(oh stop throwing things, I know I'm in the minority but at least I'm honest.)

I thought it was good that they took the opertunity to adress the teen sex issues that alot of kids struggle with. It's a freakin' epidemic. I'm 18, and I don't plan on having sex until after I'm married (not like there are girls throwing themselves at me ), but I know lots of kids who treat their virginity like it's some kind of facial welt: the sooner it's gone, the better off you'll be. I'm glad that they weren't afraid to take on such a sensetive subject. Something I've always admired about Smallville is that while other shows prefer to emphasize on deadbeat dads and whatnot, Smallville actually has alot of good family values.
SoulManX

It was a good episode. The bit at the very end about the teen sex epidemic (which is ironic considering it's on WB, the place where the shows all feature teens doin' it) was just groan inducing. But, it was still a great episode.

This episode was so wonderful! I loved how they realistically dealt with teen sex and how the writers dealt with both the Kents' and Clark's feelings over his sudden illegal marriage. I loved how Clark used his powers for frivolty and heated up Alicia's hot chocolate at the skating rink. And I LOVED sexually aggressive Clark! Hell yeah! What a turn on! It was so funny when Alicia said something like "I want this to last" and Clark responded "I don't know if that's one of my abilities but I'll do my best". Man oh man! Love him! Tom's acting in this episode was just wonderful. The scene between Clark and Martha was heartfelt. His crying was completely believable and you could easily see his hurt from disappointing his parents as well as his hurt from wanting companionship so he could feel "free". Bless his heart! This kind of episode really makes me want to see Tom in an adult role (as opposed to teen role) in a feature film. My gosh...he'd kill us all with his sexuality and confidence. Whew!

Hey I am still for the Clana so let them throw. Don't give up. I thinks something still will happen. But it was too soon. Maybe last season?

That was really a key thing wasn't it? Clark spends most of his life trying to hide his abilities, and yet with Alicia, he not only uses them, but like you said, in a totally frivolous manner. It really reinforced the point of why he likes being with her so much.
And I LOVED sexually aggressive Clark! Hell yeah! What a turn on! It was so funny when Alicia said something like "I want this to last" and Clark responded "I don't know if that's one of my abilities but I'll do my best".

Well, like they said in the episode "Red", all those thoughts come from somewhere. And somewhere deep down, Clark might have been thinking all this stuff.

Don't even worry about it. I am sure something even better will be coming with TW in it. And you know, originally I didn;t want him for supes. Then the manips got to me and I did. But now that he is not, I am thinking that is maybe a good thing. He can go on and do some other stuff, different, and I want to see him different, grown up, sexy man. Remember Rob. That was so good. And now he would be even better. we got lots to lookforward to.
And to keep this on topic, Tom did a great job on this episode. Believable.

I'm having a hard time forming rational thoughts....
I still don't like Alicia.. and yet.. I'm oddly grateful to her. ;)
Favorite single scene - it's a tie b/w the Martha/Clark talk at the end.. and the single tear on Clark's cheek *sniff*... that or - shirtless and horny as HELL Clark sprawled on that couch right before Alicia jumped him.
I am so with you on this.
I loved that Martha/Clark scene... Tom was so good and so was Annette.

As for Alicia taking off the necklace, I'm glad she did before they did it.
As much as I would like to have seen that love scene, I'm a red blooded female after all, I think it was as wrong for Alicia to drug Clark with the Red-K to win him as it was for Lana to offer herself to Jason to win him back.
Alicia redeemed herself a lot in my mind by doing the right thing.

Comments on last night's episode:
*When Lana and Jason were talking and he told Lana he was going to be honest with her and tell her everything there was a pause. I thought he was going to tell her: "I'm gay." while one of my fiancee's brothers yelled out: "I love Clark". LOL. Their conversation lead me to believe that he could be Jason The Demon Etrigan.
*Alicia. . . ohhh. . . Alicia. http://www.nohomers.net/images/avatars/HomerDrool.gif I actually yelled: "YESS!!" when Red K Clark made his appearance. I loved every single second of Red K Clark. . . very cool attitude. :D . . . .BTW ladies, Clark's still a virgin. . .
*Is it me, or did anyone thought of Tom's performance while skating alone was pretty similar to Reeve's klutzy Clark Kent.
*Way to go Jimmy!!! I knew that bow tie thing was just an act. :D
*Ma and Pa Kent's attitude was kind of a script screw up. . . Why would they be angry at Clark if he was under the influence of ol' Red K? That scene seemed forced and very unfair.
*Alicia. . . . ooooh Alicia. http://www.nohomers.net/images/avatars/HomerDrool.gif
*Who the heck was responsible for Lionel's prision release? I hope they don't leave this as a loose end.
*Alicia. . . http://www.nohomers.net/images/avatars/HomerDrool.gif

Great episode. Another example of the "sequel" being better than the original ("Obsession"). The previews led me to believe it was going to be a cheesy ep, but it turned out to be one of the most heartfelt. They took a typical FOTW and made her a REAL character.
Some of the points:
--Chloe and Jimmy. As soon as Chloe mentioned a romp with a certain bow-tied "Jimmy," I knew the purists would be up in arms. It goes to show that when TPTB try to slyly wink at the fans, some don't know how to handle it. In my mind, she wasn't talking about "Jimmy Olsen," but even if she was, so what? It was for the fans, and we got a kick out of it!
--Clark and Alicia's date. Very cool to see Clark actually happy. It was a very sweet scene. I agree with the poster who said Clark reminded them of Reeve's "clumsy Clark" from Superman. Proving that TW would have been a very good "secret identity" Clark Kent. (Were you watching Mr. Singer? Speaking of Singer, did anyone else think the doctor looked like Kevin Spacey with long hair and a beard?) Plus, the heat vision in the cocoa was brilliant!
--The Martha/Clark scene. Awesome! I would even dare to say it was a better scene than in Memoria. I completely understand her anger. She wasn't upset because he was on Red K, she was upset because even though they warned him that Alicia was dangerous, he still pursued a relationship. Granted, Alicia was a more sympathetic character this time around, but I think Ma Kent was justified in her anger. Also, Tom's acting was brilliant. And it wasn't just the tear. It was his whole deflated face. When he was alone in the kitchen, waiting to be scolded, worrying about Dad's feelings. Very believable.
--I also like how G&M dealt with the issue of sex. When I first heard about them exploring the issue this season, I was wary. But they did it in a very realistic way. And they achieved their point without having to have Clark or Lana actually lose their virginity.
Well written. Well acted. One of the best episodes of Smallville.

Oh one more thing. Alicia's knowledge of Red K didn't bother me either. She was already privy to his secret, plus she has the ability to teleport anywhere she wants. It isn't surprising that she could have been stalking Clark in secret and overheard conversations between he and his parents.

Good ep, actually FAR better than I expected...
I'm still trying to figure out how Alicia DID know about the Red Kryptonite...they kind of glossed over that.
Th Jimmy revelation was a nice bone to throw to teh fans...I was kind of slow on the uptake on that one...wy wife had to thwap me on the head pratically in order for me to get it...I was being kind of dense.
So the marriage wasn't legal? Because Clark was "drugged'? They kind of glossed over that, too.
Martha going off on Clark seemed kind of out of character....he WAS on Red K...and any other time it was always "you weren't yourself"....when he was doing MUCH worse things than trying to get laid...
I was really hoping that Jason was gone...they're dragging this out WAY too much...if he's going to be Jason Blood (or at least someone interesting), make it happen already. If not, get rid of him.
Lionel....faking or not? I actually find myself hoping he's not. It would make a FAR more interesting development to see Lionel become a real force for good that everyone doubts, while Lex becomes increasingly dark and "evil"....
I'm really glad they didn't cop out and kill Alicia...but if they kill her off in another episode it will make her survival in this one that much more trivial...I hope she does just get her wish to move away, and that she doesn't start going psycho again...
There WAS some nice character development here, and it was a good episode, but there are so many plot points that are still left hanging...honestly the plot hasn't been advanced much at all this season.
What about the cave, the crystals, the map, Jor-El, Lex's 33 1/2 floor o' freaks????
At least something ought to be going on with this....instead we see Lana and Clark on the verge of losing their..."innocence", but it doesn't happen for either one.
And the public service announcement at the end? A bit much....but I can live with it. My wife and I were both all "Now I know....and knowing is half the battle."
Great episode. I know Jimmy is supposed to be quite a few years younger than Clark in the comics but this isn't the comics so so what. And of course they meant Jimmy Olsen why else would they mention the bow tie. I like that Superman's pal took Chloe's virginity. I love Red K Clark, and the best line was Alicia "We don't have any Kind of commitment" Clark "Believe me no one is more commited to making this happen than me." Another great line was Alicia saying that she wanted it to last forever and Clark responding "I'm not sure that's one of my abilities but I'll try." :)
And as for Alicia
This was the best episode I've seen in a while and I'm glad there finally airing new eps can't wait for next week when Chloe finds out about Clark

So the marriage wasn't legal? Because Clark was "drugged'? They kind of glossed over that, too. It wasn't legal because they did a "drive thru" wedding and didn't file for a license or fill out any paperwork. Essentially they just had a Vegas ceremony without actually "getting married."

Great comments, guys! I'm glad everyone liked this episode as much as I did!
I do have a couple of comments:
I think the reason that the marriage wasn't legal was because both Clark and Alicia are likely underage. In order to sign up at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas, I think you have to be 18. If they lied when they filled out the forms, I don't think then that the marriage would be legal.
I'm not a lawyer, but I think it makes sense... You have to be 18 to sign a contract...
As for how Alicia found out so much about Clark, I think her ability to teleport herself probably helped out but I have a theory on how she found out so much (I'm going to use spoiler tags, even though it's not really, because it might reveal some stuff about next week's ep):
I think she went to Chloe's house and/or hacked into Chloe's computer.
Now, I know that Chloe doesn't know about Clark specifically, but she does know that something is different about him and would have some evidence to support that. Enough for Alicia, potentially, to fill in the blanks if she were to get access to Chloe's computer file on Clark.
Now, I know that she has a computer file on Clark because in Extinction she told Lionel something like "You don't think that I would keep my file on Clark here, do you?"
She was referring to the files that Van had read, including the one on Lex, on the school computers.
Chloe would know at least some of the following, maybe even all, going into next week:
Lionel wants to know very badly where Clark came from (Truth) and is highly obsessed with him (From Season two on....)
Knows that Clark's adoption wasn't legit (I forget which ep that came from- maybe Lineage?).
Knows that when Clark wears the fake ruby (red meteor rock) class ring that he isn't himself (Red, Exile).
If she talked to Lana about it, knows that Van McNulty said that Clark was bullet proof (Extinction).
Knows that Clark wasn't affected the same way as other people by certain things like the krypto-gatorade, her truth serum, Sarah's dreams and the toxins from Luthorcorp - she even said that he is "wired differently" than everyone else... (Devoted, Slumber, Truth, and Scared)
I think that if Alicia somehow got access to the above info (especially the part about the rings and where Chloe might keep them - hence her thievery at the Torch office), then she's smart enough that she would probably be able to fill in the blanks.
What do you think?
Good theory, of am I over-thinking the sitch?

Cool episode, the Lana/Jason stuff was waaaay too preachy/after school specialy. Chloe's PSA at the end put it way over the top, there's been plenty of episodes dealing with sex that didn't need the PSA. I really liked the Alicia/Clark storyline, Alicia knew the effects of green kyrptonite from Obsession, so it's not too much of a stretch that she knew about the effects of other forms of kryptonite. As for the Martha/Clark scene, that was good, too much has happened with Clark on red K for them to keep letting it go, plus those feelings do come from Clark, red K just takes away his inhibitions. I do think this was the best red K "transformation" shot though.
I need some screen caps of her in the stockings :o

SV came in fifth, beating UPN's "Road to Stardom" in the 8pm time slot. The preliminary overnights are saying 1.4/3 for Smallville *and* Jack & Bobby, but I'm gonna *assume* J&B brought SV's numbers down a bit since that rating is an average between the two shows. Exact numbers won't be available for a few days.
And Lokmon, don't do it buddy. Stay FAR away from TWOP. You'll be sorrrrrrrry!!! I'm tellin' ya now. That place is a cesspool!
The only reason it did so bad in the ratings is because people who aren't die hard fans have thought it to be in rerun land... So they probably didn't bother to check when new eps would be back. Suckers missed out :o

Anybody else here watch last night's ep on Boston's affiliate? I was freakin' LIVID! For the first half hour - the ENTIRE first half hour, they ran the school closing announcements continuously, over, and over and over again, which squished the already letterboxed screen. I was sooooo freakin' PISSED!! I can't even do caps from my tape 'cause the image is foreshortened. I can correct it, but there's no way to tell how much other than ballpark. Gah!!!!

I took the trace amounts thing to mean like minute levels, not like she eats lead paint chips or anything :DLittle known factoid: a few hundred years ago, the glass harmonica was very popular (that's the "instrument" that uses tuned glass bells that the musician runs a wet palm over to produce a tone, similar to what you get with a wine or champagne glass.) Anyhoo, the musicians of these instruments often went crazy. I mean, just plain NUTS. Many died. Nobody knew what was going on, but it seemed as if the poor saps were just plain cursed or something. It was later discovered that they slowly poisoned themselves. The glass bells were made from leaded glass. Apparently, there was enough lead absorbed into the skin just by touching the glass that it eventually killed them.

I just figure her mutated DNA compensates for the lead in her system. I'm wondering why no FOTWs ever suffer from the Jitters anymore. That disease has gone the way of Lucas Luthor. Speaking of Luthors, with the amount of kryptonite Lionel's fondled in the last 3.5 years, I'm surprised he isn't shaking his ass off either.

This was another great episode, I loved it, Clark is still longing for a woman he can be with & share his problem's with. Hang in there Clark you only have 1 more to go (Lori Lemaris) before you meet adult Lois Lane. Anyways Alicia is out of belle Reeve, I knew she wasn't cured. , (The ice skating part, reminded me of an comic issue where Lois & Clark goes Ice skating, And Clark falls with Lois on the ice, also using the heat vision on the cup of coco was great touch.) Anyways Alicia want's to start a new life with Clark, and when he says no, Enter Red-K neakless. Kal is back. Alicia & Kal have a steamy make out in the loft, Where Kal pop's "The Question" Will you marry me? After saying Yes , Alicia & Kal head to (Sin City) Las Vagas" Where they get married,
(However Clark isn't an adult so the marrage isn't legal). After superspeeding to the bedroom, Alicia & Kal get on, and are really close to having Sex. But she takes off the Red-K, (Yes!!!!!! He's still pure for his true wife Lois) and Kal is gone & Clark is back, upset that Alicia used Red -K on him he leaves. (Yes) Also for the Jason / Lana I knew they weren't going to have Sex, (because only person Lana has Sex with is Pete Ross, & they both have a chlid Clark Kent Ross) Althought Chloe had "sex" with Jimmy while at The Daily Planet? Not Jimmy Olsen right. As for the Lionel / Lex, I don't believe he's changed, but with the episode to come maybe I will. As always Clark heads home to face his Parent's. Martha was upset, OMG She really was upset & he showed how a mother should react to these kinds of problems.
(I love that Martha took the mothering role to a whole new level.) But boy would I have loved to see Jonathan upset & taking to Clark As for Alicia taking the bullet for Clark showed that she was sorry, But something happens in the next episode, that she reavels Clark's secret to Chloe. Anyways I love this episode, Season 4 rocks. Can't wait for next week's episode.

Just quoting this because it's such a great summary.. and so in keeping with exactly what I thought about this ep.

Something similar happened way back when with people who makes hats, hence the term mad as a hatter...
I dunno if it was because of lead, however. I don't think making felt would ever require lead...
<---- Also a fount of useless information.
I think lead is more poisionous to children and their brain development it can lead to retardation. Adults unless she's pregnant shouldn't be that much of a problem.

She was disappointed in him because he went out with Alicia even though they had told him not to. (They said it was too dangerous since she knew his secret and his weakness... well, I guess she learned more about that.) Turned out she was dangerous...
So they were right to be cautious, but as Pat has pointed out time and time again:

You're right. It really makes me sad to think that there's no way those two could ever end up together. I mean, Lois is great, but she's yet to have such a strong role in such a great episode. I think it's safe to say that the SV audience, much like Clark, is quite taken with her.

I don't think WB uses "fresh" in the hip hop sense (who's used the word 'fresh' since KRS One back in the day anyway?), but meaning fresh as in new, like "fresh fruit" or "fresh from the garden." Because WB's episodes are only "fresh" when they're new.

Dont think they're using it in a hip hop sense there, considering WB doesnt really pander to the hip hop crowd like say a UPN, where Veronica Mars airs incidentally. I think they mean "fresh" in the same sense they mean at the supermarket, as in "new"...

Incidentally, I just read Neal's review of Unsafe over at SHP. I don't know if anyone here reads it, or if Neal posts over here, but they used to be entertaining and now I find them totally unreadable. Not because he's started to dislike the show, but because the reviews all seem to be more about him than the show. Kinda like Harry's movie reviews over at AICN where he spends half a page explaining how he got to the theater before even talking about the movie. I dunno. Just wondering what you guys thought.
If they are the ones I'm thinking of he's overally picky and often has gripes with things he misunderstands. I even emailed him once because he was complaining about something that he didn't catch in the plot. BTW I like the music but I'm afraid it will later make the show seem dated.

In he review for Bound he had ranted about the "iPod" whatshername had and the supposed product placement Apple had paid for but it wasn't even an iPod... I emailed him about it but he was nice and corrected it later.
It was actually a Dell Pocket DJ (I think they're called that...)
How could anyone not know what an iPod looks like?
But I haven't really been reading his reviews much either.
I think it's funny, the other reviewer on that site is so pro-Smallville and he's become so anti-Smallville... It is sometimes an interesting contrast if you read them both. He's also so long-winded and she's so brief...

Yeah but it was another depleted storyline for Lana.Poor Kristin/Lana the fanboys are kicking her ass verbally speaking. Thing I don't understand is, if the TPTB have a "Bias fetish" as the so-called "Lana-Haters" claim they do, why don't they make the charecter more interesting. They can't dump Lana. They can dump ON her, but they can't get rid of the character. She's (arguably) as important to the show as Lex is. The whole show revolves around the three, with Clark at the top of course. I think folks just need to be a little more patient with Lana's story arc. Yeah, it's kind of boring right now, and I know there are quite a few fans out there *cough*DTS,Sweet*cough* who are still lamenting the loss of Clana, but G&M have promised to make her character more "important" to the overall story arc. Whether or not she *should* be made more important (I'm with James on that notion), is irrelevant. The fact is, by hook or crook, they ARE wedging her into the mythos with a shoe horn. ;)
Remember - the show is about the journey, not the destination. :)

The Clana fans will have another Lana/Clark-centric ep before too long (Sacred) and they will no doubt rejoice that hope has been rekindled that Clana may return.

But I do feel cheated that we were teased for soooo long, and truly, the only real relationship they actually ever had was a little suckface under a damn tree! I think the Clark/Lois chemistry is the most interesting, but that's partially due to the snappy writing. It's like when folks think MR is such a great actor (he IS good - I'm not slighting him), but it's what the writers give him to work with that makes him more complex. Clark and Lois are so much fun because they're antagonistic towards each other, and that can be very entertaining. It's what kept shows like Cheers and Northern Exposure so good for so long. All Clark and Lana do is bat doe eyes at each other and complain about being/not being honest. Ack! Bowrang! LOL

I'd like to see them have some quality time making each other happy before the series ends.Remember what the writers keep saying: the story ends in tragedy. It's good that Clark becomes Superman - we all know that - but Lex goes evil, and Clark's first true love "ends badly." The ending will be more bitter than sweet for the other characters, unfortunately. :(
Happily-Ever-After, is just not their destiny.Exactly.

1) I love Sarah Carter... I want to make sweet sweet love to her...
2) I can't believe I liked Tom Welling's acting in this, but I did... I actually felt for him when he was crying to his mom...
3) That Doctor guy... what a perv...
4) Jimmy obviously can't be Jimmy Olsen... he's at least ten years younger than Clark...
5) I like Red K Clark...
6) I even thought Martha Kent was attractive in this episode...

I can see why Martha was annoyed at Clark.Right from the outset he wanted Alicia even though he knew it was wrong. His parents advised against it so he went to Chloe to do some digging to ''prove'' she was cured that his parents were wrong.
He wanted some validation so he could go after her with a clear consious. While she was cured to a degree she is still obsessed with him.He did the right thing by not going to California but you could see he wanted to.
Once infected with the red kyptonite all sense of right went out the window.Alcia had it right when she said the Red Kyrptonite doesnt make him a bad person doesnt control him it free's him of his morals.Really in Smallville's case its kinda like Clark getting drunk.
Thats why Martha is upset, if Clark was a normal kid he would be saying ''but I was drunk'' in place of I was infected with Red Kyptonite. It's a poor excuse and exactly that...an excuse.

But I think that part of the reason why this ep is so hated over on DTS is just because it seems to spell the doom of Clana.
Lana all but told Jason that she loves him enough for him to be her first, even though she never said the words "I love you".
Does it follow that Clark and Lana will never get their closure? I dunno, may be. May be not.
Most fans over there justify their hatred of the episode by saying that it wasn't righti that Lana was throwing herself at Jason. Or that her offering herself up to Jason is out of character. Or that Millar and Gough aren't respecting the mythos of Superman because Lana is supposed to be Clark's sweetheart while he's a teen... etc, etc.
I find it interesting on an intellectual level so I read the threads over there, but I'm beyond wanting to contribute to the noise about it. It's an uphill battle that I'm not willing to enter in to.
I really liked the episode. Sarah Carter has a wonderful chemistry with Tom and it was great seeing Clark happy for once. Alicia, I believe, really loves Clark and it's not just love-obsessive stalkerish delusion.
It was nice to also see a previous FOTW come back and interact with Clark. Too often they show up for one ep and are never seen again.
There are some others I would love to see return (Cyrus from Visitor, for one - are you surprised ;) - Byron from Nocturne, for another) so hopefully this will mean that more eps like this will come.
It gets a thumbsup from me.
Ack! Bowrang! LOL
Exactly. Yawn.
I got bored with it by the middle of last season. There's just not enough conflict and what conflict there was had been so contrived that it was tiresome.
Maybe if they can move beyond that they can get back together, but I doubt they'll revisit that ship at this point.

Clana's been doomed from the start. In fact, I believe that if you look up "Clana" in the dictionary, it actually says "doomed." ;)
Lana all but told Jason that she loves him enough for him to be her first, even though she never said the words "I love you".
You know what's interesting? I rewatched "Unsafe" last night, and unless I missed it, Clark never says "I love you" to Alicia. When they're on the bed, right before she takes off his necklace, she says to him, "I love you," but he responds something like, "I know how you feel' (or "I know what you mean" can't remember which one.) Then in the closing loft scene as she's about to leave, she again tells him that she loves him. I do think he loves her.. in a way that's more out of his desire for someone he can be himself with.. but it is interesting that they never had him say it back to her.

Alicia is still a messed up girl, IMO.. but I agree that she does love Clark and I think she's trying to straighten her life out. I'm just not convinced that she will be able to.
I also noticed in rewatching that Alicia's mother is mentioned a couple times.. but no word on her father. I wonder if he died, or if he's still in a coma.

LOL! True, but if you were to ask some of the more militant Clana devotees you wouldn't get one of them to admit to that.

I loved this episode, for a lot of reasons even beyond the amazing scenery.
You know, I just finished writing my review for TV Tome and in thinking about it more critically while writing that, I've come to the conclusion that this is probably one of the best of the year so far.
Probably in fifth behind Transference, Crusade, Run, Jinx, and Spell.
So I love it too. (and the scenery was definitely a lot of fun to... uh *cough* view... )
Alicia is still a messed up girl, IMO.. but I agree that she does love Clark and I think she's trying to straighten her life out. I'm just not convinced that she will be able to.
No, she probably won't be able to get straightened up...
Or they'd have to sign her up for more eps and given the two new characters they've already added this season, there's probably not a free dressing room to give her.
I also noticed in rewatching that Alicia's mother is mentioned a couple times.. but no word on her father. I wonder if he died, or if he's still in a coma.
I was wondering that myself... Curious they didn't mention it, but then again they haven't mentioned Pete once this season. They tend to forget absent characters pretty quick.
Aunt Nell anyone?

True but I hope he doesn't have sweet Cyrus or romantic Byron locked up in there, but I am looking forward to the return of sexy Trent Ford as Mxyzpltlk!

Don't get any feedback from there because they don't have a PM system and I hesitate to put my email up there for fear of getting spammed to death...
They should upgrade their forum software. Pretty primitive in comparison to here, but they let me review and I think I'm getting pretty good at it.

I thought of something MR plays hockey and has been teasing Tom that he doesn't skate. He was saying something about Tom promising to learn for four years on the Family channel special it was obviously something between them so I wonder if it was a coincidence. Regardless I just thought that scene was cute knowing he can't skate at all.

Pretty funny too, I mean: Superman on skates... LOL!
Who'd a thunk he'd be so bad at it? ;)
I think he was playing it up some, I mean. Once he got past that first part with Alicia showing how to bend his knees some he was doing OK.
I think maybe MR had been showing Tom how to skate, or maybe they were joking in the ABC special.

Although they didn't show their legs alot I'm not sure they were on skates the whole time. But he did fall really well. I just don't want him to start playing hockey and mess up his smile. I would have to hurt somebody :) Stick to golf Tom! :p

Tom's skating was "TV" bad, but that's not the same as not being able to skate. If you really can't skate you just fall on your butt every few seconds.
He may not be the next Elvis Stojko but Tom can definitely skate. Skating's really dangerous if you fall badly, so I doubt they'd risk it if he were a complete novice; broken wrists aren't good when you're playing Superman.

In my eyes all this episode did is re-instate what we already knew.
Clark is getting horny. But at least he had the decency to get married before doing anything so i don't understand what his parents were freaking out about. Would they want him to have sex outside of wed-lock?
But wait... he didn't do anything!
What are these people, amish?
Not to insult the amish or anything...
Other then that Lana's character just took a huge step back in my eyes. Finally she was getting some back bone and now she was ready to bang her boyfriend just so she wouldn't lose him? *sigh*
Lex is helping his dad. Why am I not surprised? At this point though I really don't care since I do want to know what Lionel is up to.
But I admit the episode had it's moments. Just that... it's getting kinda crowded, don't you think so? We got 3 plots going on all at the same time. Feels a bit convoluted.

It's funny how people say that Martha shouldnt be mad at Clark because he wasnt himself and was on Red K. Obviously most of them arent old enough to drink or never came home ****-faced from a night out and got chewed out by their parents. The "I wasnt myself" defense doesnt cut it... Granted in Clark's case he was "drugged" in a sense, but he didnt heed Martha and Jonathan's earlier advice about staying away from the nut job. I think Martha was more mad about that then she was about the whole marriage thing

Well, you are right about the ****-faced deal, in my case anyway (not that I haven't done stupid stuff in my life) :) but when Martha got really pissed she didn't say anything about Alicia, she said "Marriage is sacred".
I think it's been pretty well establshed that what comes out on Red K was already in Clark. His parents have been trying to set a good example of marriage maybe she's worried that deep down he doesn't take it seriously.

Yeah, I completely understood why Martha was mad but being a parent I prolly woulda been too, had I been in her shoes.
The thing is Martha is well aware that he does have some control over himself when he's on Red-K, I mean he destroyed the ring rather than kill Jonathan in Pheonix. Jonathan, no doubt, woulda told her about that.
I think he loses a lof of his impulse control when he's on red-k and he doesn't really consider the consequences of his actions, but he's shown that he has at least some control when pushed while on red-k.
Alicia just didn't push him. She was the enabler in the situation. She coulda stepped back and said "Hey, getting married is maybe a little too much..." but she didn't. She wanted it and didn't question why he was asking her to get hitched in the first place.
Martha musta known that, at some point prior to going to Vegas, Alicia could have stopped him and chose not to.
Martha's probably glad Alicia got a reality check and removed the necklace when she did or Clark may have never come back.

Does this all stem from that one speech in Clerks where the guys are talking about only Wonder Woman being able to have sex with Superman? Or was the topic popular before that?

Technically, the only thing that can harm Clark is Kryptonite (and magic, but lets leave that out for a sec.) So, when Jonathan broke the vial of Clark's blood in the barn in Phoenix, those blood cells might still be alive (assuming they weren't destroyed when Jonathan tested the vial next to meteor rock.) So by extension, anything living that comes from Clark might not die. Ever.
Yeah... this could get gross. LOL!!! ;)
