Loved the scene in the radiation room under the rocket where Jack and the Doctor had a brief but intense chat ..... John Barrowman really is a fantastic actor and brings such energy to the show!
Also big praise to the legend that is Derek Jacobi, when he finally calls himself the Master ....... WOW!

newest episode -
VERY predictable throughout, however some wonderful touches in terms of character play and dialogue, really re-establishing Cpt. Jack back into the Doctor's life. The master was portrayed very well through both actors, even though only for a short time, however RTD's writting was awful "new voice, that's weird", did we really need a re-hash of old lines?
Utopia, perhaps a time-rift or Master's TARDIS? Cause that's the only way it's going to end nicely for the Doctor, nice to see my favourite villain of his back, the only one able to intellectually beat the Doctor, I hope we get to see some of this intellectual conflict :)

i bet most of them didn't even know the names of the Ninja Turtles before the movie came out. And besides, the Power Rangers in our day (i sound like an old man) woudl call the zords in a really cool way. Like teh green ranger he'd call it using a dagger that acted as a pipe which called his zord from the sea. I don't see any mystic force power rangers doing that.

*school-girlish giggle*
Tee-hee!
This episode hit all the right notes with me.
1. The Master is back
2. Giving us a reason why no one could detect the Master
3. Captain Jack, back to his old flirty ways
4. Martha wasn't totally useless (keep in mind, RTD made her completely useless the last time he wrote an episode)
5. The Master/10th Doctor parallels. It's like Simm is an evil version of Tennant. I love it.
My only real problem with the episode was the music. Some of the cues just felt all wrong. For example:
"The Master..."
*inappropriate fanfare*
"...reborn!"
I can't help but wonder, though: Did the Master turn himself into a human and run to the edge of known time to avoid the other Time Lords (and possibly the war), or was he dumped there by the Time Lords as punishment (a time he knew nothing of, with no other Time Lords to help him escape)?
Oh, and if there's one positive thing I want to come out of the Master hijacking the Doc's TARDIS, it's my hope that he'll redecorate the interior. Yes, I do like the semi-organic, bee-hive thing it's got going, but it's clearly that way out of disrepair. It's got wires hanging from the ceiling, oven knobs on the control panel. Just buy a new set for next series, Davies!

That's what I was wondering too. My theory is that the Time Lords did it as punishment for his crimes. Keep him human for a few decades then turn him back keeping the memories of being human. They gave him the watch because its designed to be completely ignored by him until they felt he his sentence was done... of course then they all died.
I loved this episode and hope its the beginning of new three part stories. I like the two parters, but you can't match the classic five episode long stories!

Just seen the episode...awesome stuff.
Captain Jack returns was awesome. Just seeing him and The Doctor running down that corridor together was awesome. Granted we have seen him in Torchwood, but Jack's at his best when next to The Doctor.
Then, The Master....reborn (yes, little hokey I know)! Awesome stuff. I thought Jacobi was excellent in his run, I would have loved to have seen more of his sinister Master, but I am salivating at the mouth to see what Simm does.

Torchwood ending with Jack hearing the TARDIS, cut to Gwen, then Jack was gone. So he strictly wasn't picked up. I did wonder though how he heard it, he must have bloody good hearing.

Just seemed a long way from where the TARDIS landed in 'Utopia'. Isn't The Hub undeground and I am sure it's walls would be reinforced, for the TARDIS to land outside on the surface would seem a bit weird to hear and for papers to blow. I am sure I am looking way too much into somehing this minor.

The TARDIS landed directly on top of Torchwood, directly over the lift up to the street if I recall correctly. Plus the hand was a good indicator the Doctor was back.
I think the 'new' Master's character is supposed to be an exact replica of the Doctor's highly charged, over the top performance. Its a good way of doing it in that respect, but I have to say I much preferred Derek Jacobi's quiet, malicious performance as the Master.

That would have been awesome if Jacobi had remained as the Master, but oh well.
And since when can someone - even Jack Harkness - grab onto the outside of the TARDIS and get transported along with it? We just saw the Weeping Angels try the same thing last ep and they got left behind.

In all fairness, the TARDIS left behind the people inside in that episode.

The master never ran away from the time war, he was exiled to human-ness before the time war.
I hope they don't just have the master as a charicature of the doctor, the same quirkiness but evil, I hope Simms can just do something a bit more unique with him.

I think he was mentioned, and it might be confirmed that he is the Doctor's brother.
Remember when he said "I don't have a brother... well, not any more"? Maybe he was referring to the Master who wasn't his brother because he was humanised. But he hasn't been explicitly referred to in the new series, but neither have any other Time Lords.

The doctor was unawares of the Master's presence, even though it was glaringly obvious to us.
This shows that the doctor considered him dead, and was unawares of the chameloen arcs ability to preserve him from the time war.

So I watched the epsiode yesterday after waiting (Muse where good, but I like them but I have seen better gigs which are more amazing even though there not at a stadium)
But I was like :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot: When Jack was running, and the Doctor and Jack where great all though the episode loved it!
So much happened I can't remeber lol but I did like it.
The hand part when Martha was like wtf about it hehe.
How many times did Jack die in the epsiode?
And bless him living though all that time, and checking up on Rose now and then how sweet
Liked the part when Jack was in that room and him and the Doctor where talking, so the Doc didn't stay to get him as his not right? Not his fault is it.
But but but Martha why didn't she take the bloody watch from the old guy when she had the chance I was like take it take it!!!!!!
Its all her fault now, dumass............and her like 'oh she was blonde'' thing bugged me I was like get over yourself.
Oh I want the Doctor to win and get his Tardis back :csad:
Derek Jacobi was good, and John Sims at the end was to, but still the Doctor will win HA!

Thing is, Martha didn't consider for a moment that the Doctor has an enemy among the Time Lords (she'd think twice if she knew that he killed his entire race). She just figured it could've been any random Time Lord she's never met. She was probably more excited at the idea of the Doctor having a friend.
I had a thought: Jack based himself in Cardiff for over a century, waiting for the Doctor to come back to refuel. If only he had based himself in London during the 20th century...

It's interesting to see Captain Jack's character change from when he is with the Doctor compared to Torchwood. In Torchwood he acts moody, isolated, with the Doctor he runs around like a kid wanting to get off with anything that moves. I wonder how he will act when he returns to Torchwood?
BTW, tanker trucks and machine guns still around when the universe ends? And I read somewhere that a definition of utopia is 'a place that does not exist'. Explains why the Master was amused when he saw where the rocket was heading....

Yeah, that's what I think as well. Being stuck on Earth since the late 19th Century would make anyone moody. It would be good if the next series of Torchwood did some flashbacks to Jack's stay on earth. But that would be too similar to Angel.

I'd actually place Battlestar Galactica above both in terms of consistency. Heroes had some boring episodes, but BSG was kicking ass from start to finish last season, and it was mostly great the second season, and it was pretty much all great the first season.

He wasn't like that in Torchwood? Did we watch the same show, 'cause I remember him hitting on pretty much everything in Torchwood. RTD's idea of "pansexual" obviously means "horny as all ****ing hell with no standards."

I'd be content if we got to learn anything at all about Jack in the next season of Torchwood. The mysterious loner bit gets you a pass for one or two seasons, tops. Then it just becomes annoying and makes me think you really don't know anything about the character yourself. Jack will have officially been present for some part of 3 seasons of two shows when Torchwood starts up again, so it's about time we got some exposition on the man's past beyond his sexual conquests, which RTD seems to enjoy writing about far, far too much.
All true and fear her was better than the guy getting a BJ to ELO from his Pavement Slab girlfriend.

That little girl was the worst actress in the history of bad acting, her mother wasn't much better, the story's been done about sixty-seven billion times, and, at the end of it all, the monster is a ****ing squiggle! The Daemon and Silurian episodes are well worth a gander if you haven't seen them. So is the one with the Maggots, Death to the Daleks, Day of the Daleks are both also good. The thing I remember most about Pertwee's Doctor is that his car was badass. :)
I had the story with the Silurians on my queue, but I ditched it because I figured it would be more of the same, like the First and Second Doctors' stuff. But if it's really as good as everyone says, I'll add it back on and watch it.
Does anyone know the actual title of those Pertwee serials?

T baker is jsut the most remembered...he's by no means the best...
and pertwee was more an action dr than the rest...
Well I do plan on catching up with them all at some point, just finding the time.
Baker was the most recognisable as he stayed in the role longer, he also loved being associated with Doctor Who. The ratings actually fell during his tenure.
Really? Was that down to him, or just the stories being s**t?

Nuts, never mind. All Netflix has in its catalog from Pertwee's era are:
Spearhead from Space
Inferno
The Claws of Axos
The Three Doctors (already on my list)
The Green Death
Carnival of Monsters
The Five Doctors (also already on my list)

I think it was called "The Silurians", Daemon I think was called The Demon or the Daemons some variation on the theme. The Autons was called the Autons, it's the wax works figurine story i haven't seen it since I was a kid it was excellent. I think the draconian one was "War in Space"
I forgot for Baker the one in the Light house with the Jelly fish thing and the Talons of Weng Chian, I think it was called they were both great. As was that one with the Masque (Mask) in the title although i'm sure it was masque as in theatrical masques.
The Green Death is the maggot one I mentioned I think.

Fair enough, although I enjoyed Pertwee more, the early Baker, till after Harry Sullivan left was the best who of all. It's funny because the sexiest Who assistants like Zoe, Leyla and Romana were in the old series. You could exploit women more in those days as fluff I suppose. I want a true babe in the new series.

Seasom 4 rumours from Outpost Gallifrey.
From Outpost Gallifrey:
Series 3 has been one of the most expensive series of television to produce in the Beeb's recent history so stories will have to be more cost effective for series 4. Other information he has provided is that Freema will be in series 4 BUT not all of it. There will be a new assistant and Carey Mulligan who played Sally Sparrow has been contracted for further episodes. Her popularity has not gone unnoticed! The Dr will travel with 2 assistants for a number of episodes. John Simms will not return to the series. The link for series 4 will be the last 2 episodes and has already been hinted at in a previous episode. On the matter of Torchwood John Barrowman will not appear in all episodes. A significant character from Dr Who will make an appearance.
Great to see that Sally Sparrow might be returning. I know all you Martha haters will love that she's not in all of the eps, but I don't mind her. I didn't really expect Simms to stay on, but if he does well with the last two eps, it'd be shame not to see him again.

The MASTER used to have a TARDIS, it was like the timelord wris****ch if you will. Fair enough it could have been destroyed or something, but did have one!
Also, thoughts on utpoia people? I'm really thinking it's either the Master's TARDIS or a time rift, the place to save yourself at the end of the universe is actually a time rift to go back in time and avoid the end of the universe.....

'The Runaway Bride' spoilers...
She appeared aboard the TARDIS because her body was doused with huon energy, a rare type of energy only found in the heart of a TARDIS. The particles attract one another, and the woman (Donna) got pulled toward the TARIDS against her will. She was being hunted by the 'pilot fish' Santa Robots from the previous Christmas, who were after huon energy. There's more, but I'm in a rush...

supposed spoilers from blogspot whether they are 100% true or not is uncertain
There shall be spoilers. Oh yes. Some.
Sound Of Drums: out of ten I'd give it a nine. Out of five I'd give it 4.862. The reason it doesn't get 10 or 5 (or A+) is because of, what is affectionally known as, 'fanwank'. Not that I'm against a bit of wankage now and again. Still, Doctor Who fans'll love it (maybe with the possible exception of TVM lovers). Kids will love it. I loved it.
DT = Excellent. Angry, dark and, dare I say it, cruel
Simm = Scene stealer. Hilarious, menacing, manic THE MASTER!!!!!!
Freema= Absolutely excellent. She really turns in a stellar performance, especially in her reactions to the Doctor, Galifrey et al). About 30 times better than Billie. (sorry Billie)
JB= Great as always. We're going to find out something shocking. There are hints (read below)
(Get on with it! -Ed)
Ok. You've been warned (haven't you?)
-Rememeber the Sea Devils? The Clangers. Well, the Master's at it again with the Teletubbies. Funny scene (and the look of utter incredulity and contempt on Simms face. "Tinky Winky!")
- The Jones family: taking away. Who's that in the back of the van also being driven off? Why! it's Sarah Jane Smith! (wankage #1)
- Mrs Saxon is very proud of her husband. Oh yes. Anthony Ainley would turn in his grave!
- Brigadear Leibridge Stewart. In name only. Oh, and he's dead.(wankage 2)
- Time vortex manipulator. Back to the future. The Doctors very angry. He basically loses both his friends with a single comment.
- Captain Scarlett
- All that tapping. Everyone. Terrifying. The sound of drums indeed. Turn off your ****ing telephone!!
- "When I was a child" . "About eight years old" "Like a brother to me"
- Jack remembers something the same time the Doctor does. They exchange a look. I felt a shiver go through me then. Jack!!
- Galifrey. CGI. A very familiar face. Absolutely well done. Remember how they used to do CGI faces and people back in the old days? Well the Beeb have just blown that out of the ****ing water!
- Saxon: "Would you like a jellybaby?".
- The Valiant is a bowlderised tardis. Bits of the Doctors tardis (which doesn't work anymore)
- The Toclafane ? No idea yet. But the Galifrey flashback gives you a hint.
- The Doctor suffers. He gets old. Very old. All Mark Gatiss' fault.
- The Master and his regenerations. "There was always a way, Doctor. You know that better than anyone".
Thats all for the moment. I'm going to watch it again and I'll add in more details later.

Thats all for the moment. I'm going to watch it again and I'll add in more details later.

I do too. He just feels too... out of place in Doctor Who. I mean we know he's gay but does every comment he makes or made about him have to refer to his looks, sex or anything else like that?
And what's OG? I usually hang out on the Doctor Who Online forums. Those are pretty cool.

He's not gay, he's pansexual. In his time, people are free to bone anything.
OG = Outpost Gallifrey.
