Did anyone else kind of gag when the Doctor mentioned Harry Potter in "The Shakespeare Code"? I forgot about it, but I was just reading an article on the upcoming book and it jogged my memory. Bleh, bad episode for that little shout-out, I thought.
I liked it, I just thought it was stupid since we really don't know how HP will finnish, it might be crap.

Compared to Shakespeare, Harry Potter already is crap. Rowling's not a writer whose name should be compared to Shakespeare's, which is exactly what happens when you include a shout-out to her books in a Shakespeare-centric episode.
Shakespeare isn't all he's cracked up to be either really. HP is just something that the kids will know and will probably, unfortunatly, be the new Lord Of The Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia, even if you don't think it should be.

I think I probablly did but my memory is crap and so I just forgot.

Issue 383 of Doctor Who Magazine revealed that Moffat will write a two-part story for series four in 2008, meaning that Moffat and series executive producer Russell T. Davies will be the only writers to have contributed scripts to all four seasons of the revived series. I don't particularly like Harry Potter, but I don't have a problem with them as kids books. A lot of fans seem to want to elevate the series to high literature, however. It's not. It's the written equivalent of a summer popcorn movie.

Doc Brown is one of my favorite fictional characters ever. When I first watched DW, one of the reasons I loved the Doctor is how much of an alien Doc Brown he seemed than a typical sci-fi hero, like Flash Gordon or Captain Kirk. An old, absent-minded, eccentric scientist.

"I decided... what the hell?" is one of the greatest moments in movie history.:woot:

Yeah, but because of the death of the Time Lords, time is a mess. You can do ANY sort of time travel story, just because of those two words, "timey wimey." Best explanation ever. And Father's Day proved you CAN change the future. Time is in a constant flux, can change constantly and that's why the Doctor rarely crosses over established events for fear of creatures like the Reapers and Chronovores and Vortisaurs...

The all-time best is the Daleks in Doomsday/DiM using "rels" to tell the time, which is what they use in the Cushing films, comic strips and Big Finish audios.

I loved Father's Day and liked Boom Town. Both are superior to Rose or the Long Game.

Just read the AWESOME book, the Dying Days, the last Virgin NA, the Eighth Doctor vs. Ice Warriors. But there's a bit in it that PERFECTLY describes one of the early conversations. How you can change the future of races, but still encounter bits from your own future.

The Infinite Quest wasn't THAT bad. It worked a lot better as a coherent 40 minute episode however. I still say instead of doing a "Doctor-lite" episode next year, they get around the double-bank problem by doing an adaptation of the Crooked World by Steve Lyons (sort of like that film with Tobey Mcguire, Pleasantsville, except with a Looney Tunes-esque 'verse instead of a 1950s sitcom, explores how much cartoons use violence without consequence while having no sex, etc.). Just tell Cosgrove that animation is not meant to be static!

Whilst the subject of writers is up, i want another Mark Gatisse story, because he wrote oen of my favourite dr who books "nightshade" and JOhn peel because he wrote my favourite missing adventure "Evolution"

the movie may have been crappy but people tend of focus on the movie rather than his dr. his dr was everyhing a dr should be. and the audios are kick assery

In a strange way i agree. I hated the movie, but thought Mcgann was an awesome choice. He played him really well, even when he was given a crappy script and a ****** storyline. haven't been able to get my hands on any of the audios yet, mainly cause i'm too cheap to but them

Has Doctor Who ever met King Arthur or gone to ancient Rome? He should do that kind of stuff. Who really cares about New York in the '30s?
William hartnell had alot more "time only" adventures, (without aliens) most of which had really cool story lines. You should check them out, if you don't mind B/W.

FALSE. The 9th Doctor said to Rose during Father's Day something along the lines of "Do you think it never occurred to me to go and back and save my own people?" after Rose brings up the possibilty of saving her dad. It's debatable if he just said that to discourage Rose, but I doubt it.

actauly since then Galifrey has been handled as being outside of time, like in the cybermen two parter. to be able to travel through different universes would require them to exist outside of normal time and space, other wise they'd run into Pete's World dr...

it's all how you personaly put it together i suppose...
