He disliked the affect on his family but if the show could accommodate that i don't know...

well as far as we know from tennant and the likes it's a pretty tight scedual to film a series...plus there'll probably be pick ups and extra things after the initial filiming is finished...

only way i could see simm taking the role is if they continued on the specials route, which they probably won't...

Finally saw season 3 on DVD. Very happy with the return of the Master, though I wish their history had been more explored. And despite the actor doing a great job, I guess its just really hard for me to accept a young Master. He just wasn't quite as sinister as I'd hoped. Kinda wish Jacobi had been able to stay the Master a little longer. Still, great season.

Quick question. For this new series of Doctor Who, have they thrown away the whole 12 regenerations thing? I remember a line where the Doctor said he doesn't die, he just regenerates. I think I heard it in Human Nature too with the watch? Did they get rid of the 12 limit, or has he just been careful not to mention it yet?

its still in continuity with the old series (When RTD wants it to be.) so there is still a 13 lives limit on Regeneration.

Lily Allen on Dr. Who?
http://img111.imageshack.us/img111/641/05lilyallenyv4.jpg

Cheeky pop star Lily Allen is rumored to be entering the Whoniverse.

No offense to Billie Piper, but this is clearly the coolest Doctor Who-related music news since those wacky kids in The KLF released their *****in' "Doctorin' The Tardis" single back in '88 under the guise "The Timelords."

According to The Sun, the singer behind hits like "Smile" is set to join the cast of the the popular BBC TV series as The Doctor's new companion, following in the footsteps of Catherine Tate, Freema Agyeman and fellow pop tart, the afore-mentioned Piper.

"We've talked to her and she was excited by the idea," an unnamed source told the tabloid. "Billie used Doctor Who for her transition from music to acting. We think Lily can emulate that."

Allen should be no stranger to television by the time the current companion, Catherine Tate, is ready to pass on her keys to the Tardis. Allen recently signed on to host a show on BBC Three, set to debut early next year. The fan-friendly show, still waiting for a title, is expected to feature audiences culled directly from Allen's MySpace friends list and will even allow those audience members to present segments of the episodes. On top of that, fans will also get to select unsigned bands to perform on the show.

The Sun's source seems to think she'll jump right from one program to the other.

"After the chat show we hope she'll take over from Catherine as Doctor Who's new assistant."

So far, there's been no word on when or how the budding small screen star plans to fit the making and/or playing of music into her busy television schedule.

Exterminate.

Please let this be another one of the Sun's lies. Why are the BBC even given Lilly Allen her own show. Do they think shes hip and cool with the kids or something?

why can't we get n older Doctor again? Like Pertwee or Troughton? I vote Bill Nighly for Doctor.

Don't the Doctors actually look younger with each incarnation? That's the pattern I've noticed anyway. Nighy would be nice if they were to bring back the original Doctor though. In fact a future series Finale with all the Doctors together sounds good to me.

Really, if you compare it to a good show like Heroes you see it for what it is. In 2007 cheese = ****ty. I pay my licence fee for the BBC and all I watch is american shows on satt. and the internet because the Beebs product is simply so cheap and badly written. RTD needs to realise a barely hidden homo agenda and toilet humour does not a good show make. Now Lilly Allen may join Dr. Who to add to other bints like Tate and Piper. I wonder if Lilly's Dad got her the job? I bet he did.

Channel 4 is the only good terrestrial channel. The BBC doesn't make a single appealing tv show for anyone under the age of 30. They only care about making a million period dramas which they can sell of to over countries for profit. Any time they try and make a decent sci fi or horror show they give it barley any budget yet they give whatever victorian novel they are adapting a half a million.

I liked them too. Really made the Tardis feel huge inside and had a nice H.G.Wells type old school feel to it (complete with old fashioned rolling number dials too, iirc)

And I also remember an old episode where they really elaborated on how huge the Tardis is supposed to be, complete with them wandering around a sub-level (which was clearly just some old factory the beeb had rented for the day).

The new set is ok, but other than a passing mention to other rooms have we seen anything other than the control room yet?

Yes, the BBC through having a captive audience have trained a small percentage of the population to believe they produce quality broadcasting. When in fact if you compare it to anything worth watching it looks cheap and tacky. At the same time the BBC writers are unable to produce good plots because the writers they have recycle original ideas from elsewhere badly. Like Aliens who need sex to survive etc....... Probably because you don't pay a licence fee.

In recent years in my opinion the BBC has become little more than a purveyor of the most degrading, toxic and low-brow **** conceivable to man. A culture of excellence and innovation has been replaced with an incompetent desire to pander to the lowest possible denominator, preferably whilst covering one's own arse. The result is that not only do **** TV programmes get made, they then get re-commissioned because to drop a series after one season would be an admission of failure even when the only failure was putting the ****ing thing on air in the first place!
The idea that a series as conceptually and artistically flawed as Torchwood should be deemed worthy of a second series is the most blatant example of Groupthink since the US and British governments convinced themselves that Iraq was harboring WMDs

Really like Peter Davidson, though I wish they'd get McGann in for an episode. That guy needs more Doctor Who screen time.

Oh, and for season 4. I would love to see The Doctor begrudgingly teaming up with the Master against Davros. That would make a killer season ending.

But he did not regenerate....so is he dead? I know DR WHO takes liberties with the "death rule" but to bring him back would feel like a cheat after the emotion shown in season 3.

Moffat should take over permanently. RTD can go home and continue writing his Doctor Who Slash there.

Did you know Steven Moffat is writing the script for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jacksons Tintin triology?

At the begining, it was only 5 minutes long.

Well to start with, it was as usual cheesy and cartoonish. My biggest criticisms of Dr. Who. Tennant went into manic mode as soon as the five minutes started. One of his three major acting styles, the others being gormless and smug. All were shown as he used his entire range. Davidson did nothing wrong he accepted the "warmth" shown him from a poor script which traded on nostalgia and cheese, with the grace of an uncooked Christmas pudding and on to Christmas we go. Every episode starts with "What" for Christmas does it? My biggest question wasn't "what" but "why". Why did I watch it. Timey, Whimey, poorly written. Everyone say Cheese for Tennant and Davidson the new Chuckle Brothers. At least the Doctor wasn't in a birdcage this time.

I understand what you are saying and yes I do prefer my DR to be less dramatic and smug and just plain loud/manic, like christopher eccleston.

But DR WHO to me has always been very cheesey.

I don't. I do not like how obvious Davids DR makes things sometimes. "What" = "WTF" but CE had a more reserved way of saying "What" in fact he didn't say it at all.

Dr. Who was Cheesy when I watched it in the seventies but everything was then. The cheese in an episode like "The Sea Devils" or "Ark in Space", Genesis of the Daleks and Time Warrior was not intentional for instance were not cheesey at all. Eccleston was very good. I think his performance mitigated the cheese of the writing except when he went into Panto dame mode. RTD has turned Doctor Who into some kind of "pink" Scooby Do.

It really annoys me though because the Doctor should be Englands greatest "Superhero" and RTD has really messed up. He is the "last son of Gallifrey" for goodness sake.

Instead we have a gay agenda in a very childish setting.
