^You sure it's 7pm? I was hoping it would be later, like 8 or 9.I know its not all doctor who its the showcase of what the BBC has to offer over christmas. Billie is in 'the shadow of the north'. the sequel to last years 'the ruby in the smoke'
Sequel to what now? Can't say I remember that one.
I was disappointed i missed dracula last year. I wonder if top of the pops will have a special this year like last year
I watched some of that but it was just so bad. The only reason I kept watching was The Girl in the Fireplace was in it and she's hot.
What is the actual air date of the Christmas special?
The clue is in the title... The Christmas special, I'd guess it airs on Christmas lol. Not long now.

Torchwood premieres on BBC Two in New Year
Category: TV Drama; BBC Two; Wales
Date: 03.12.2007
Printable version
Torchwood, the award-winning drama created by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, bursts back on our screens in mid-January 2008, this time premiering on BBC Two.
And this time it's bigger and bolder with more fun, adventure and excitement for the alien-fighting team...
Captain Jack Harness (John Barrowman), Gwen (Eve Myles), Owen (Burn Gorman), Toshiko (Naoko Mori) and Ianto (Gareth Lloyd-Davies) return as the investigators delving into the alien underworld of modern day Cardiff.
In response to audience demand, younger fans will now have the opportunity of watching a specially edited pre-watershed repeat.
Roly Keating, Controller BBC Two, says: "We're delighted that Torchwood is joining BBC Two.
"We know from the success and popularity of Heroes that there's a growing appetite for smart, high-quality, sci-fi drama on the channel so Torchwood is a perfect fit.
"I'm also pleased to announce that, due to popular demand from families and younger viewers, we will be showing a special pre-watershed repeat so everyone can enjoy the new series."
Making a special guest appearance in the first episode is James Marsters as Captain John. He starred as Spike, the punk-goth vampire in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel.
Captain John and Captain Jack go way back and have "history".
When he appears through the Rift under Cardiff looking for Captain Jack not only does he disrupt Captain Jack's homecoming but the whole team, city and world are suddenly placed in danger.
The new series promises an exhilarating mixture of adventure, heartbreak, humour and surprise and pushes the team's resolve and friendships as never before.
Firmly rooted in urban life of 21st century Cardiff, Torchwood's investigations into alien activity give the team glimpses of the 51st Century and the First World War.
They encounter alien sleeper cells; save a stranded creature from human exploitation; meet a tragic soldier from the First World War; and encounter a memory thief who exposes long-forgotten secrets among the entire team.
During the run Alan Dale (Ugly Betty, The O.C, Lost and The West Wing) makes a star appearance.
Another familiar face among the special guest stars is Doctor Who's companion Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) who appears half way through the series.
Richard Briers, Nerys Hughes and Ruth Jones (Gavin And Stacey) also appear in various roles.
Russell T Davies says: "This series pushes the Torchwood team further than ever before. They are joined by some incredible guest stars who are really going to cause waves. It's adventurous, thrilling and packed full of surprises."
Torchwood, which was shot in HD and will also be shown on the BBC HD channel, is filmed in and around Cardiff by BBC Wales.
BBC Wales Controller Menna Richards says: "The first series of Torchwood was a huge hit with audiences. We're extremely proud that it's produced in Wales.
"And its success is a reflection of the huge wealth of talent and creativity that exists here.
"We're delighted that it's returning to our screens for another series full of action, humour and excitement."
The 13-part series is written by Chris Chibnall, Phil Ford, Peter J Hammond, Matt Jones, Joseph Lidster, James Moran, Helen Raynor, Catherine Tregenna and JC Wilsher.
Created by Davies, with Chris Chibnall as co-producer and lead writer, the first series which aired on BBC Three last year achieved the channel's highest ratings in 2006, with an audience of 2.5 million for the first episode, and peaking at 2.8 million.
There will be a new exciting online reality game and exclusive behind the scenes footage on bbc.co.uk/torchwood.
Torchwood is executive produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner, Head of Drama, BBC Wales. The producer is Richard Stokes.

the spaceship has been neither confirmed or denied only assumed although if it isnt a spaceship and is actually the titanic(as we know it) there would be possible continuity errors as in the episode "The End Of The World" he Says he was once on another ship that every thought was unsinkable which would lead to a "fathers Day" scenario

And there are quite a few seconds too. This year, the Doctor Who Christmas Special will run for a whopping 71 minutes instead of the usual 60.
If that wasn't enough, there will be a brand new one hour Doctor Who Confidential following it on BBC Three. With a whole host of bonus material launching on the website at around 8pm too, that's quite an evening of Doctor Who entertainment.

Longest running show of all time and before the new series started some yanks didn't even know what it was about!
It only ever aired on public television in the US. It'd get squeezed between pledge drives, documentaries, and Mr. Bean marathons. My local PBS affiliate used to air Red Dwarf marathons as often as possible, but only showed a single episode of Doctor Who once a week.
Then the new series started, and the Sci-Fi Channel picked it up. Doctor Who is getting a hell of a lot more exposure now than it ever has. In the US, that is.

Ironically, the Doctor Who movie was my introduction to Doctor Who. Sure it was bad, but the movie fascinated me with all the Who concepts (The TARDIS, the Doctor and his many regenerations). Soon afterwards I started watching the show on PBS, started buying the tapes and the books, and been a huge fan ever since.

Oh yeah, the Sontarans are classic Pertwee/Baker era villains.
I got excited when the Judoon first appeared in the "Smith and Jones" episode (introduction of Martha Jones) because I thought they were updated Sontarans in their helmets.

The right answer is that the Doctor is so old he's lossing his marbles so he's just making up numbers that are higher than 900...

Anyone who has been following the initial reports of Tennant leaving from the tabloids before the annoucement of the specials or Tennant's "commitment" will know by now the BBC once again went into commendable denial and covered it up again (and they did it better this time, until of course an official source blabbed) Personally I think the rumored "gap year" would be interesting but will see what comes to past The rumoured finale of the "gap year" season will see Tennant leave the series, but not in the way you think, and it seems only for one season. The Christmas 2009 special will conclude with The Doctor and Master switching bodies, thus enabling Simm to be cast as The Doctor. Basicly, the entire fifth season will be Who's version of "Face/Off", with Tennant regaining his body by the conclusion and resuming his role as The Doctor.

Tennants says he's will be in 4 specials
http://entertainment.aol.co.uk/ive-no-plans-to-quit-says/article/20071218165509990027
The star dismissed claims about his departure as "a load of old nonsense."
Questions arose about Tennant's future in the BBC1 series after new assistant Catherine Tate told the Jonathan Ross show she thought the next series of the would be Tennant's last.
He said: "Catherine Tate stitched me up good and proper. She goes on Jonathan Ross and makes up a load of old nonsense.
"Unbeknownst to me, she thinks I've made a decision - she'd clearly had too much coffee that morning.
"She said I was leaving, which was a decision I haven't made yet, maybe she's made it for me, but I'm going to keep people guessing for as long as possible.
"I'm doing four more specials and beyond that no one's asked me to make any decisions and I'm quite happy to be enigmatic for as long as possible."
Speaking at the premiere of the Doctor Who Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned, Tennant was still enthusiastic about starring in the hit BBC show.
"I think it's the most exciting thing you could possibly hope to see, I'm just glad that people seem to agree," he said.
"It's a very odd and slightly bewildering sort of thing to be in the middle of, but it's something that very easy to be genuinely excited about, I really love it and even if I had nothing to do with it, I'd be looking forward to the Christmas special, so it's a privilege to be in the middle of it all.

I assumed the Master left his TARDIS in the year 100-Trillion. He had to have used it to reach that time period, although it was probably left somewhere near the Silver Devastation.

I like Freema; you don't. That's fine. But I thought that the rawness of your personal attack on her was rather too strong, and smacked of misogyny. Some people would even suspect you of a taint of racism (you should lay off the whole area of her bum size), but I wouldn't go so far. I just feel that my taste has been insulted.
I'm sure that wasn't your intention, however.

*sigh* No, it doesn't, as you well know. But in your last rant, you didn't mention her acting or her character, whilst you meditated at length- in the most pejorative way- on her physical attributes, which are generally considered common to women of African descent.
Now, I haven't called you a racist, but I think that you are behaving in rather a crass and immature way. That's my opinion. Treat it how you will.

A) It doesn't look good on the big screen cause it's not created for it. It's done for TV.
B) Tennant as the Doctor getting old? He's not been going as long as Baker.
