And assuming 'with confidence' that Jack really is the face of Boe based on one throwaway line isn't?
But the fact of the matter is, Jack really is Boe coz RTD says so. I just hate the idea coz all through the three parter they say how Jack isn't ageing or changeing and yet right at the end suddenly Jack starts talking about ageing slowly and he'll live to become The Face of Boe and have kids and everything.

In the Doctor Who Confidential that went with that episode he said how he laughed when he came up with the idea of making Jack the Face of Boe. He didn't say laughed when he alluded to it.

Was wondering if RTD might have confirmed this but all I can find so far is this on wikipedia:
A possible clue to the Face of Boe's origin was revealed in the episode "Last of the Time Lords (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_of_the_Time_Lords)". The immortal time traveller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel) Captain Jack Harkness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Harkness) expresses concern about how he might look if he lives "for a million years", because although he can't die, he is still aging, albeit slowly. He tells the Doctor and Martha that it's a matter of vanity, because he "used to be a poster boy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poster_boy) when [he] was a kid in the Boeshane Peninsula", as "the first one ever to be signed up for the Time Agency ... the Face of Boe, they called me." This astonishes Martha and the sceptical Doctor. Writer Russell T Davies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_T_Davies), in the episode's commentary, called the implication of this scene "a theory" as to the Face of Boe's origins, prompting Executive Producer Julie Gardner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julie_Gardner) to urge him to "stop back-pedalling" about the two characters being the same. Davies also said that after writing the scene, he inserted a line in the ADR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubbing_%28filmmaking%29) recording for "Gridlock" in which the Face of Boe calls the Doctor "old friend"
Though I wouldn't call it conclusive, it does look like RTD was leaning towards Jack really being Boe after all.
Can't say I like the idea myself.

But The Face of Boe could call The Doctor Old Friend coz they have met a few times. But it does explain why Boe knew 10th was The Doctor after meeting him only as 9th before hand.
What I'd like to do is for Jack to come back and say something like, "No you old twit. I was named after The Face of Boe, I'm not The Face of Boe."

Hmm few issues with that. Yes the DR did dismiss it but not with any real explination as to why he dismissed it...he jsut said "no".
Also we do not know enough about Jacks condition to say that he can live forever. Plus the face of boes death was more by choice as he gave his life to save the humans at the time. As if to say he has some control of the power/lifeforce that keeps him going.
Well, concerning Jack's condition, the Doctor never did say that Jack couldn't die from old age. Maybe even a condition Jack has cannot defeat death, though it can certainly prolong it for a few billion years. Also, one aspect I think might be worth noting is that what if the Face of Boe isn't actually dead? I know it's quite unlikely, but there is always that possibility, especially if Jack really is the Face of Boe.
The Doctor saying 'No' is good enough for me :cwink:
Seriously though, I still think the writers were just playing with us, but I guess we'll find out sooner or later what they really have in mind for Jack.
The Doctor said 'No' in more of the subtext "I can't believe it, but could it be possible?" And in case you don't know what I mean by subtext, I mean what the Doctor was actually thinking. Of course, I know it is more of a theory right now, but I think it was still a great twist in the story.

I have a question.....Does Eccleston acknowledge the fact that he has gone through eight incarnations.??
im new to the show....only seen a few episodes here and there
no, but in School Reunion the Tenth Doctor does say he's regenerated half a dozen times since he was last with Sarah Jane (His 4th Incarnation) so, that makes Tennant comfirming his 10th spot and Eccleston being the 9th.
Manic
01-26-2008, 03:42 AM
The 9th acknowledged having at least one previous incarnation. When he first walked into the Tylers' apartment/flat/whatever you Brits call 'em, he looked in the mirror and commented on his looks as if he wasn't used to them.
Yeah, but he doesn't say anything about being the 9th.. he just comments on his regeneration.

SFX was honoured to be granted an interview with Lis Sladen (give the woman a Damehood for services to SF!) for the next SFX Special, out mid March. You’ll have to wait for the full interview, but we know you’re desperate for news on Doctor Who season four. Well, as professional as ever, Lis was tight-lipped about the exact nature of her return in the show’s climactic story, but offered these titbits:
“You must know how many people are in it," she says, referring to the number of special guests from the Doctor’s (recent) past who, it's been confirmed, will be making reappearances alongside Sarah Jane. "So I don't think I'll be at the centre of things. I would think it would be apportioned off, a bit here a bit there, and the major people will be the Doctor and Donna. That is my take on it. We are coming back to reinforce an already established team. So I don’t think I’ll be leading the group, if you know what I mean! I think there will be a distinct kind of sectioning and apportioning off. Because you can only do so much with so many people.“
After Lis films her Doctor Who return in February, she'll be back filming a second season of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
“Yes, we’re doing 24 episodes," she confirms. "I think we start end of March.“

Sometimes, yes. I know Steven Moffat's Jekyll worked perfectly with only 6 episodes. However, sometimes you want more out of a show.
I'm reminded of that time Hugh Laurie was talking to Jay Leno about filming American TV vs. British TV. With British TV, he was working about 4-7 hours per episode, an hour break in the middle, and only had to do about a dozen episodes. With American TV, he has to film about 20 episodes, and he'd have to work 8-14 hour shifts with 30-minute breaks to get it done. It certainly seems our seasons take a lot more out of the actors and crew.

Yes some tv programs need to be 24 epps like 24 or Buffy but programs like The Shield and The Sopranos were perfect at 13 epps and so is Doctor Who and Torchwood. Primeval needs to be more episode though and the likes of Lost needs to be 13-16 epps long and i think the new format of that show is going to work...

Series 4 Update
http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/images/173/colin.jpg New guest stars announced for series 4.
Alex Kingston and Colin Salmon have joined the long list of guest stars to feature in series 4 of Doctor Who.
Alex Kingston, best known for roles in ER and Moll Flanders will appear in a Steven Moffat penned two-parter as River Song – a mysterious character who meets The Doctor on an expedition to uncover the secrets of an abandoned library. She is joined by James Bond regular, Colin Salmon who also stars in the two episodes
Alex comments "I used to watch Doctor Who through the crack in the door. I was so terrified but I couldn't tear myself away. I loved it so much and I'm delighted to be a part of the new series."
The first episode of the eagerly awaited new series will witness Donna tracking down The Doctor during an alien emergency in modern-day London. The couple are destined to experience a series of wonderful adventures throughout the series run including meeting one of Doctor Who's most popular aliens, The Ood in a brand new episode, Planet of the Ood. Donna and The Doctor will also be travelling through time for an encounter with the legendary murder mystery novelist, Agatha Christie and taking a trip to Pompeii.
Further guest stars already confirmed to appear in the new series include Sarah Lancashire, Felicity Kendal, Lesley Sharp, Georgia Moffett, Lindsey Coulson, Fenella Woolgar, Tim McInnerny, Peter Capaldi, Phil Davis and Tracey Childs.
Not sure if anyone care but here is some Who news.

You know what I liked about Martha? Aside from her ass? That she was the first classic-style companion New Who had. No romantic overtones on the Doctor's part. He really saw her as a friend or buddy ("mate," I guess) who he wanted to show off the universe to.

Given they didn't even want to bother putting her on the DVD cover (in the US, they had to crop up that early promo picture of the Doctor and Martha running from an explosion for the cover. It looks lackluster next to the Doctor/Rose covers from 1 and 2), she ought to be begging for someone to notice her.

haha, yeah... some people really like her... but she's not exactly the first person I would've chosen as a good companion for the Doctor. It'd be nice to see the Doctor have a companion from another planet. Not necessarily a different colour and appearance compared to humans, but just something different than humans on Earth or colonies in the universe.

yeh...prices suck:down
there use to be a place called Music Zone and most of their classic series stuff was £10 each...now all i have is HMV and it's all bloody £20 each:csad:
still i have most of them so
Not quite sure how the pound translates to dollars currently.....but the new Dr Who DVDs cost around $80 per season here. That's twice as high as the average price of a regular series set.

Wrong assumption, I wear as little as I can get away with. ;) So unless the Tardis is a lot colder than it looks...

yeh, it was interesting...it start with the fact i'd want to sit in the tardis to write eps if i was ever hired to do so...then it somehow got on to tardis sex then where you could do it and what positions...it was fun, hot and extremely wrong all at the same time...

More like where wouldn't you be able to have sex in the Tardis. You wouldn't want to do it near the main control unit, because heaven only knows where in time and space you would end up, but otherwise I would think that anywhere aboard that two people can fit would be possible.

So, back to your original question, what parts would I have to cover up in the Tardis (for whatever reason) and which would you desire to have a peek at? I always try to cater to my partner's desires to some extent.

Not me....I always have trouble with the names of some of the guys that came after Baker. There was the guy from "All Creatures Great and Small" and the curly haired dude that just looked weird.....but I can't remember their names to save my life.
William Hartnell
Patrick Troughton
Jon Pertwee
Tom Baker
Peter Davison
Collin Baker
Sylvester McCoy
Paul McGann
Christopher Eccelston
David Tennant

I totally couldn't remember Peter Davison.
In my defense, I haven't gotten around to buying any 5th Doctor DVDs yet. They cost too damn much, and you all know that.

Well, I hung around the official Doctor Who website a lot. They have description of all the episodes in the old Doctor Who series as well as the new. Also, you can sometimes catch old episodes on DivX (it's like YouTube, but you have to download the player).
Who's the Doctor in the old series you know the best?
Patrick Troughton
The Little Space Hobo.

Tom Baker. I own the entire Key To Time set, as well as City of Death. He's my Doctor.
I've caught the occasional McCoy and Colin Baker episode on YouTube. Not a fan of C. Baker.

For me, it's between Peter Davidson and Tom Baker.
Colin Baker is my favorite when it comes to audios. The Sixth and Frobisher are awesome! (on CD)

Hey who got this thread speaking about the old doctors, whoever it is will pay
But on a separate note
Am I the only one who really doesn't want the Daleks to turn up this year, they were great in the first series, a good surprise in the second and god awful in the third and I do not want to see them get any worse.

Well they may do it for just one episode but the more the DR wins in a fight then the less scary the daleks become.

not really...we could go into all the different actors who've played the dr in parody such as lenny henry, dawn french, sir ian mckellan...but that might blow the minds of the youngsters..

Daleks have scared people since the 60's. I think they'll keep on scaring now, somehow. I never knew how Daleks could be scary at all.

The only thing I hate about RTD is his face
I hate the Daleks
I hate Paul Mcgann
I hate Gatiss
I like seeing Jack get it on with anyone and everyone
and the series 3 series finale was 100% terrible
