According to RTD sonic reverberation, which is basically just his stupid way of saying that high pitched noise The Doctor made in "Partners In Crime" and Tosh made in "Fragments". :o

I decided to watch the Pompeii episode again, and I have a thought...

Toward the end of the episode, Donna draws up a parallel between Pompeii and Gallifrey. Indeed, there are a lot of similarities. Both places burned. Both were destroyed by the Doctor. Both times, the Doctor had to choose between killing all of those people, or letting far more suffer under a conquering alien empire. The Doctor told her he had to let everyone die because it's history, and that if he could go back to save his home planet, we would. But he can't. Then Donna said something.

"Not the whole town. Just save someone."

If they follow up on that, then couldn't the Doctor go back and save other Time Lords?

RTD needs to address the Gallifrey-Time War-Dead Time Lords issue soon, cos right now it's irritating just being glossed over and hinted at and people will stop caring. I mean, tell the story and give it a conclusion, or get over it and move on.

With Tennant only doing a few specials next year, it would be a good time to do a Time War mini series with McGann.

from the way it's been presented in the old series and the new series Gallifrey is kinda outside time...thus why it has it's own set time and when they need the dr they get the current version, like in the 3 drs and the 5 drs, it's the most current and no more cause they don;t exist yet in Gallifrey's timeline...even though they're shooting about every other timeline...

it sounded to that to me, like the Doctor is going to have to regenerate or that him being alone is going to change

I query something RTD said in Who Confidential-

When he mentioned that Ayesha Dharker's character had to die because she let the doctor and herself down, I got annoyed.

Why does he have to be so generic and predictable? Why can't he skip the moralistic tone and let a bad guy live/escape? She wasn't bad anyway, just too by-the-rules.

I touched upon that already, now back to my point. there was that trailer (on location during the filming of the series finale) labelled "Little Red Riding Hood" we know it's not Billie Piper, her Trailer was labelled Rose, so who do you lot think it is, so far the most common theories are , whoever is playing Davros, or that Harriet Jones woman, because people think she will be turned into a red Dalek.

I thought the Ninth Doctor looked back on Harriet Jones as that glorious Prime Minister of three terms. Since we know she's coming back I thought that meant she'll be re-elected and what the Doctor said would be true. If she becomes a red Dalek it'll change all that.

that brings up an interesting idea. Would anyone NOT want to travel with the doctor?

I have too many responsibilities here to travel with the Doctor. Let's face it, if you want to travel with the Doctor you pretty much have to be:

1. Single (or willing to dump your relationship)
2. Physically Fit (no wheelchairs, canes or crutches)
3. Passive (he pushes all the buttons and pulls all the levers, you just cheer him on)

:lmao:
That's exactly what I went through. At first I thought it might be a giant Ood-looking blob, but then we saw the hand-brains, and it clicked. "It's gonna be a giant brain, isn't it?"

I was with this episode right up until the giant brain was revealed to be the Ood's source of life. Donna was asking all the right questions in this episode (how could a species born to serve evolve into its present state?), but that all got thrown out the window when they basically told the audience that not only did the Ood evolve with a psychic brain falling out of their mouths (which I could deal with), but their hive minds were linked together by a giant brain that existed for no particularly good reason.

That said, I loved that someone bothered to go back and define the Ood as a species. They always felt like such a crappy plot convenience in "The Impossible Planet." They were basically an alien slave race whose entire purpose in that episode was to be used as soldiers by Satan. Exploring the whole "slave race" thing was awesome.

One thing did scare me about this episode. The prospect of The Simpsons being on the air in the 42nd century.

TheCorpulent1
04-22-2008, 12:56 AM
I couldn't get over the irony of Donna and the Doctor both questioning how a species born to serve could ever survive long enough to evolve while completely ignoring that question in the case of the giant, immobile, pulsating, exposed BRAIN.

Doctor Who preview: A Sontaran invasion

It's mixed blessings for the Doctor this week as he gets not one, but two blasts from the past.

http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/08/17/w550_tt_who2.jpg

Ah yippy ay oo
The episode begins with Martha Jones calling the Doctor back to Earth for help with her latest case. Now a qualified doctor herself and working for UNIT, Miss Martha is investigating a string of strange deaths relating to Atmos Systems, the new world-wide sat nav system. We learn the identity of Martha's boyfriend fiancé, and here's a hint: it's someone we've met before.

The Sontaran Strategem
Hiding behind the machiavellian machinations are the Sontarans, the self-proclaimed "finest soldiers in the galaxy", but with the unfortunate physical affliction of looking liked baked potatoes. The Doctor has encountered this race before - they featured in the classic series in the 1970s - and knows their weakness, which he exploits to good effect. A hint: it's a trick John Smith would have easily mastered.

The Enemy Dances
Guest stars this episode include Ryan Sampson (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/a91547/ryan-sampson-the-things-i-havent-told-you.html) as a brainy teenager working for the Sontarans who commits the ultimate act of betrayal; and Christian Cooke, last seen as Jason Donovan's brooding son (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gayspy/a90002/something-to-brae-about.html) on Echo Beach, but this time playing a young soldier who gets to be the Doctor's "Assistant" for a short while. Bernard Cribbins is also back as Donna's granddad Wilf after she makes a tough decision.

Who Said What?
Here are some select quotes from the episode, with the obligatory blanks left in to keep you wondering. Add your guesses at the end of the column!

"This is your final ***********."
"We do not take orders from ******."
"He's like ****: ***** too ***** and people get ******."
"You saved my life in so many ways."
"Now we begin. Let's *** ** ****."

So who do you think the boyfriend is?

TheCorpulent1
04-22-2008, 04:26 PM
Maybe it's Adam. A brain-window might be a turn-on for Martha, her being a doctor and all...

Sorry for the double-post, but did anyone else notice how many repeated themes we've got this year? The disappearing bees keep being brought up, as well as Rose, and lost planets. I almost didn't notice the lost planets, but the Adiposians and lava-monsters both moved to Earth (in two different time periods, no less) because their planets were "lost."

Barrowman criticises "grumpy" Eccleston

Saturday, April 12 2008, 09:59 BST
By Daniel Kilkelly (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/a93662/barrowman-criticises-grumpy-eccleston.html#), Entertainment Reporter
http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/culttv/torchwood/160x120_torchwood_cast_s01_captainjack01.jpg
John Barrowman has claimed that Christopher Eccleston was "grumpy" on the set of Doctor Who.

The actor, who plays Captain Jack Harkness on the BBC One sci-fi hit, admitted that he did not enjoy spending time with Eccleston when they worked together on the programme.

Eccleston took on the role of The Doctor for one series, which aired in 2005. He was replaced by David Tennant, who is currently starring in his third series.

"Chris was always grumpy. You don't always have to be intense. There comes a point when intensity makes you miserable - I think that was the case with Chris," Barrowman told the Daily Record. "I much prefer working with David - he likes to have a bit more fun, he's more charismatic as a person.

"Chris might have been a great Doc but he was darker and had a chip on his shoulder, he was not as much fun on set as David. I will give him the credit that he was the first Doctor to bring back the series and made a damn good job of it.

"But I just wouldn't go to the pub with him. On the other hand, David's been to my house, we went to the Madonna concert with our partners - we socialise together. He's a lot more fun."

Meh

"OH! that's cheating, do you have your legs running on silent?" lol
A recent filming report from a confrontation between the Doctor and the Cybermen reveals that Dervla Kirwan's character is a Cyberman ally. Also, the Cybermen in the story know of the Doctor but don't recognize Tennant's appearance, suggesting it might be some branch of the "original" Cybermen after all.

Northern Ireland don't consider themselves part of Britain because they're not part of Great Britain! Britain is England, Wales and Scotland. The United Kingdom is made up of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
