I just watched "Stolen Earth" .........

I'm shocked and somewhat saddened.. and wondering what will happen next. Anyone have a link to the trailer for the next episode? Or is that still unavailable?

anyone else think that Harriet Jones is alive and will still turn out to be evil? the whole sub-wave network thing seemed way too convenient. I got the feeling that by contacting the companions she was actually trying to lure the Doctor into a trap. I also thought it was strange that the Daleks said that they knew who she was and that one of the Daleks' lasers turns before firing. since we didn't see her die on screen I think it was likely her computer that was destroyed and that she's either been taken as a hostage (to perhaps be turned into a Dalek) or she's in league with Davros.

See, I just don't get why everyone thinks or suspects Harriet Jones would be evil. She's never gave off the impression of a woman who would want revenge. She just seems to believe strongly in her actions and thinks what she does is the best for her country.

Just watched the Trailer for Journey's End and it hasn't helped my confusion at all. I truly hope we got a few answers in the episode......

Harriet hasn't been portrayed as remotely evil before, and her actions in Stolen Earth were the only thing that allowed the Doctor to find Earth. She's not out for revenge, and she certainly wouldn't want revenge against the Doctor to the degree of sacrificing the whole Earth. The whole reason she and the Doctor came into conflict is because she was willing to take more lethal actions against alien invaders to defend the Earth.

Also, it's pretty clear that Davros isn't making his Daleks out of humans. He's making them out of his own flesh. So drop the "Harriet turns into a Dalek / Harriet is the red Dalek" crap. It was a false rumor, just like "Davros kidnapped the bees to make Daleks" and "Turn Left takes place in Rose's universe."

I'm really glad she's not evil actually, she's is probably one of my favourite characters in the series and she was right to kill the Sycorax.

Davros may not be making Daleks out of the humans but turning Harriet Jones, someone the Doctor knows, into one could make for a powerful psychological weapon to use against the Doctor. a personal loss to throw him off balance.

Yes, she was right. When the Doctor told their leader to stand down, he tried to attack while the Doctor's back was turned. It's pretty clear the Sycorax would be back. The Doctor just said "no second chance" as he killed the leader. Harriet just applied that to the whole ship.
Davros may not be making Daleks out of the humans but turning Harriet Jones, someone the Doctor knows, into one could make for a powerful psychological weapon to use against the Doctor. a personal loss to throw him off balance.
But a Dalek made out of a human would not be perfect, and Davros prizes his perfect creations.

Harriet Jones death being off screen is probably because Penelope Wilton is a favorite of the crew, as is the Harriet Jones, just leaving the option open for her to come back.

PS: Did anyone else think that Torchwood should be written on their show just like they were written in this episode? They could really do without all the sex and unnecessary violence. It really just hindered the show's potential and it really showed.

I had an interesting thought, and had to look over a list of episodes to confirm it. What can I say? Weird realizations come to me every now and then...

Martha doesn't know the Doctor is a killer.

Rose knows it. He killed Lady Cassandra, the Syncorax leader, and I'm sure Rose knows he killed his entire race and the Daleks once before. Rose even got her own hands bloodied a few times while traveling with the Doctor (ie. she stopped him from committing a double-genocide so she could commit a single genocide). Hell, even Mickey killed everyone on Downing Street. They know the Doctor will kill someone, and they've been forced to kill while associating with him.

When Donna first met the Doctor, she saw him commit genocide. It was the main reason she skipped a year before becoming his companion. She scared him.

But with Martha? The only time the Doctor killed anyone was when he played music so loud, it irritated Richard Lazarus enough to make him fall from a bell tower. The meanest the Doctor got while traveling with Martha was when he punished the Family of Blood, and Martha was noticeably absent when the Doctor sent them to each of their punishments. Even when Martha showed up for the Sontaran episodes and Jenny's episode, the Doctor never got around to killing anyone except for her clone (like that counts), and constantly chastised Jenny for carrying a gun (not that Martha was there to see that, but still).

I'm sure it wasn't anyone's intention behind the scenes, but Martha probably has a more romanticized view of the Doctor than any of his other New Who companions. She saw him at his nicest.

On another note, while I'm still positive Davros isn't going to turn the human race into Daleks, it does appear the Daleks have been lining up humans and using them for experiments. The Daleks briefly mention experiments in one part of "The Stolen Earth."

Weeks ago, my immediate thought was "how are they going to do this finale without Rose just absorbing the time vortex again?" But with the Doctor about to regenerate (or the regeneration about to go through complications, whatever), I guess Rose wouldn't be willing to do that again if it meant she'll actually die without the Doctor to absorb-o-kiss the huon energy out of her.

Well i'd be dissapointed if Tennant left this soon but ill also be dissapointed if thats who Morrisey turns out to be because i think he would be an excellent choice for the 11th Doctor and it would be a waste if he just plays a normal Victorian Dr. Im hoping that the 10th Doctor meets the 11th Doctor in the Christmas special....

That seems like sheer folly from a production standpoint. Unless Tennant's absolutely leaving sometime soon, they'd essentially have locked themselves into either using Morrisey as the 11th Doctor regardless of potential unforeseen circumstances or coming up with some half-assed explanation for whenever Tennant's Doctor does regenerate and it's not Morrisey. Seems unwise however you look at it.

Then again, if Tennant's definitely leaving after the '09 specials and Morrisey's already locked into a deal for the 2010 series, I could see that happening...

Then again, if Tennant's definitely leaving after the '09 specials and Morrisey's already locked into a deal for the 2010 series, I could see that happening...
Im not saying it would be the best way to go from a production point of view because by the time its time for Morrisey to take over he might be doing something else unless hes signed a contract. I just think it would be a waste of a potential Doctor if hes someone else....

True, but surely The Doctor is too big a part to have him played by someone who's already been someone else isnt he??
Anyway i think this series will end with Morrissey appearing on the Tardis telling Tennant that hes The Doctor and Tennant shouting "What!!" and then it ends with Doctor Who will be back with "The Other Doctor"....

And peter davidson but I missed his appearance before he became the doctor

I think that would be a great way to end season 4.

The hand has prevented doctor 10 from regenerating

For the rest of episode it is ignored and not bubbling anymore.

At the end of the episode after the doctor is recovering from losing a companion(RTD cliche from doomsday and The last of the timelords) he goes back to the tardis controls and sets his next destination.

A man walks out of the tardis dressing room

tennant- What?

11th- What?

Okay this is pretty random, but possible (I think) if the TARDIS was destroyed it could be regrown using single cell progenesis like Jenny (including it being fully grown) as it was a living thing and just as Jenny took on traits of the Doctor (the love of running) the newer TARDIS would take on traits of the old one (like the broken chameleon circuit), I know it's out there, but I think it would (just about) be possible.

I was having a conversation the other day about future Doctors, and I (in all seriousness) suggested Fielding. Once he's matured somewhat, and if he tones down the comedy though.

I figure I'll post my theory again, in anticipation of tommorows episode. :yay:

We've known for some time now that David Tennant is to star in the christmas special, thanks to the spoiler pictures that were leaked. HOWEVER, we also saw David Morrissey in these pictures. Here's what I'm thinking. Tennant will regenrate into Morrissey, and for the special, Morrissey will travel back in time to have a two Doctor episode with Tennant, to give him a proper sendoff. So there.

No no no no... I really don;t think that'll happen (although actually I think it would be pretty cool if it did). I really don't think there's any chance of Tennant regenerating at all. It's just not going to happen and there's no way they could have kept it secret if it was going to.

It's simply going to come down to parallel worlds, univesres being out of synch with the rest and the osterhagen key - if wish it wouldn't but it will.

I think that the production team are more sly with their secrets then we think. As much as RTD tries to deny it, it was pretty clear that Mister Saxon ment Master No. Six, and I think that was intentional. We all think were pretty clever for working out a lot of spoilers, but I'll bet my bottom dollar that half of them are meant to be worked out.

I just don't think in this day and age that its possible to have any kind of genuine surprise in a show like Dr Who.

The Internet is full of sites packed with info and spoilers .... we already know that Tennant is filming the Christmas special, we already know that next year does not have a full series to allow Tennant time to do other things, we already know that scenes have been filmed with Tennant saying goodbye to Donnas family .... and so on.

Morrissey is a fine actor but also a busy actor ... I don't think he could commit to a role like Who which takes months to film every year.

Tomorrow will be a great episode but nothing shocking will happen.

The point I'm trying to make is that due to the Internet we more or less know that nothing shocking will happen tonight. Its not a case of SEARCHING for spoilers .... every Who site has had set pictures up for months and most of what will happen has been talked about on forums such as this.

It doesn't help that we fans speculate the hell out of upcoming episodes. Give us a week between "To Be Continued" episodes, and we'll have enough theories around to have collectively predicted the entire conclusion.

Here are my thoughts

I guess Micky and Martha would make a good replacement for Tosh and Owen on Torchwood. Straight swap, Gung Ho barrow boy and brainy good girl.

I don't buy Martha would nuke the earth. A few episodes ago she was crying over fish head guy dying but nows shes willing to wipe out every person on Earth. I thought she was another Martha Clone for a second.

Was Sarah Jones and Harriet Jones announcing to every person they meet what their name is necessary, its not like their James Bond and it wasn't that funny a joke. The need to mention her son is 14 all the time wasn't needed either. It was like she kept having to say it or she might forget her sons age.

I'm glad they finally called the Doctor up on his hypocrisy. His companions and people he befriends into suicide weapons when stuff gets bad.

I thought Micky was gonna start dry humping Roses mum everytime those two had a little emotional moment together. I don't know maybe thats just me.

Glad Gwen and Ianto stayed out of the action. If Gwen was there she would of probabley screwed something up and get everyone killed and Ianto would od started crying about how much he missed his girlfriend lisa or something. Somehow Martha was miles away and still managed to get captured.

If the Darleks are still alive can we have a few Time Lords as well. This last son of Krypton, I mean Galiffry :whatever: thing is lame. It didn't take long before they used the old chosen one plot device either.

All that said great episode :woot:

K9 cameo.
Tosh did something useful from beyond the grave.
The Special effects looked decent.
Rose gotta her own Human doctor and can settle down with him in her barn filled with all the hay she can eat in her universe.
Hopefuly no more Donna because shes under the threat a painful Yay!
