Isn't this thread going a little bit off topic ????

I really, really wanted PSV to win... (more off topic stuff )

Translation:

What has that to do with the discussion between Drakon and Mr. Sparkle? (GanjaFred says: Roma, you are hot, but how can he know? Has he ever seen Roma?)

Have you, GanjaFred, ever seen Roma in real life or on a photo? I don't, but i'm curious now to see how Roma looks like.

Should i interfere myself with the discussion between Drakon and Mr. Sparkle?

1. i totally agree with mr sparkle.

2. if i'm not mistaken this part of the forum is called "Fan Art"

3. this site's called superherohype.com, since when is tom hanks (check page 1,2 or 3) a superhero?

1. So, you choose The Dark Side?

2. Yes, agree. BUT: In MY thread people may discuss my "art"

3. Well, was Forrest not a hero in the eyes of some people in that movie? Is Victor Navorski also not be a little bit a hero when he stay al that time on the airport?

1. is more mented as a humoristic answer

2. and 3. is serious.

Steve

Spider-Steve

I can see you inked your pencil drawing.

Don't be afraid to scribble a lot when you are using a pencil, it doesn't matter because you are going to erase it when you ink it, that way you only use the line you liked better.

And try to crop the unnecessary edges from your scans, it makes you look lazy.

Can somebody from Holland help me translate, i don't understand for 100% what he ment...

Asjemenou!

Typisch Hollands hé?!

Net zoals:

"Sodemieter op joh!"
"Getverderie!"
"Zeuve" in plaats van zeven (het getal 7 dus)
"Doei"

Nota: Dit is NIET beledigend bedoeld hoor! Ik heb veel respect voor Nederlanders. Ben trouwens grote fan van 2 top drum and bugle corps uit Nederland:

Jubal ==> www.jubal.org (http://www.jubal.org)
Beatrix' ==> www.beatrix.org (http://www.beatrix.org)

GanjaFred,
I see that you are new to fan art... so I will cut you some slack, but in the future i will not tolerate those sort of comments (your drawing skills) from anyone.

Yes it is FAN ART, and it's not required that every piece of art posted here be about superheroes!

In the future 'GF' - please think twice before you post

Here's an example of what I was talking about

http://www.anjindesign.com/images/sketches/batman_sketch.jpg

The artist first makes a pencil drawing, notice that he doesn't care if the lines aren't perfect or fall out off place because later he's going to ink it. The pencil sketch only serves as a guide, they also help him make a more proportionate body for the character.

Well, i gonna try color something that i drawed with PhotoShop. Only, i must find how to color with PS. I spend a lot of time on this board an now also with drawing.

I work and when i have break, i eat very fast and then i draw to it's back time to work. So, i didn't experiment a lot with PS.

Can you make a Print Screen from PS where i can find the euhm, "things" to color???

PM me the Print Screen or mail me...

You need to chage the image into RGB format.
A GIF only has 256 colors and since you mentioned it only shows shades of gray it must be because it's a grayscale gif.

I remind you, don't forget to crop your scanned images, I can see you didn't even aligned the sheet.

That's better but try to find a real flesh tone.

Drakon
05-15-2005, 03:18 PM
Steve, toss a very slight hint of orange in the colour for the flesh, and it should look way better.

Also, every part you colour, it would be much easier if you coloured it on a new layer, so as to not mess up the originial image. And place each layer effect on Multiply, so that your lines become more noticeable.

If you show me the originial picture, I could colour it and show you what I mean.

Steve, take your time with these. Art is QUALITY, not QUANTITY. dont just use the first color that you find. take your time, find the RIGHT color. not trying to knock you skills or anything, but you dont have to put out as many pieces as you can in one day. take your time and do your best. there are no deadlines. attention to detail is KEY! just my 2 cents

Steve, here is what I meant....

I only took about 2 minutes on this, but look at the colour tone. There's a hint of orange in there. Peach, almost. I also tossed the highlights in there to kinda show you a easy way to do so. I had the light coming from behind him a bit, but if you add colour, you can do whatever you want, whereever you want.

yes, i tryed do draw it after, but the mouth and eyes failed whole the time! I get depressed (kidding) and did it this way:

Steve

It took little over two months, I didn't work on it every night.
The clay needed to dry (that took a long time).
I started it out with metal wire, then I added some clay to get the pose right.
When that dried I just kept on adding clay.
To smoothen it out, I used sandpaper.

GanjaFred,
I see that you are new to fan art... so I will cut you some slack, but in the future i will not tolerate those sort of comments (your drawing skills) from anyone.

Yes it is FAN ART, and it's not required that every piece of art posted here be about superheroes!

In the future 'GF' - please think twice before you post

SpiderSteve, keep up the good work!

Everyone PLAY NICE!

Speedy as Steve mentioned, people have bashed his art before. Long discussion followed and people said some not so nice things just like you're doing right now. The quote above was from a moderator of the forum. I suggest you read it.
And if you don't like what you see, don't look.

Speedy Fingers,
This is your last warning!
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
Constructive critique is fine and expected here... There is no need at all here in FAN ART for the continuing negative posts for Steve's artwork.

One more 'negative' post and you will find yourself on a temporary ban!

Drakon,

I only can color just with a color. Not shadows! I haven't learned that yet! Roma learned me how to color, but only just a color, no shadows or other "'special effects" but i gonna look on that site, good-tutorials.com for how to add shadow in a color!

Like what you have done with the pic!

Steve

All I did was simple. I guessed where I wanted the light to come from [in this case, it was behind him]. Then, I took the eyedropper tool, selected the colour I wanted to work on, and made a lighter colour for it. Then I took it where the edges of the parts were, and went over where I thought the light should lay.

Hello, mind if I drop a helpful hint?

I noticed many of your edges seem to be flat against each other. Since you said you are using Photoshop, try the blur tool around edges of each image so they blend together, it makes a world of difference. Good luck, and keep it up!

Look at other artists how they draw noses, and try a few. It will help you make this picture look a lot better.

work on your shading too. it helps if you scribble some and the take you finger and rub on it. it takes out the scribbling look. you can also buy a little white thing to do it for u too. i think you can get them at michaels.

Yes, i always have problems with the noses!

Here are a few, it looks hard but take your time. And draw as much as you want.

is this how you draw cobblepot? ^

Cobblepot
06-20-2005, 04:16 PM
No, I always just draw. I'm not much of a learning guy. I'm lazy.
But I need to study these things more.
But it's a good place to start.

nosebleed.
06-20-2005, 04:41 PM
cobblepot's right. start basic with stick figures...then add shapes for the different muscle and body parts. then from there you can get more detailed. so at least your bodies can be better proportioned. heads go the same way...draw a cross in the middle of the oval for your face and go from there.

sorry steve. in simple terms, where you want to shade, scribble with your pencil and then take your finger and rub it. it will give you a nice shadowing look.

What is "scribble" and "rub"? Sorry Spiderfan08, my English vocabulary is not so large!

Ok,

I scanned some drawings from a time ago!

I cut and paste the 3 drawings into one, so i must only upload one file:

The head of Batman in the middle is the best i think. Gonna finish this one (draw whole the body)

Here the drawing:

Worked on the Batman drawing:

Think i must make his body larger because it looks to small or his head is to big...

Ok, below my drawing. Still not finished. The head is smaller now.

I"m not happy about the arms, but try to do that again, even as his legs! I used my Battle Gear figure as basic...

Next time i use a photo from Christian Bale in the suit!

Just keep trying Steve!
Eventually you'll get it right.
Try drawing the complete body first and than draw the details.
Then you know if you should go further with it or start a new one!

Cobblepot
07-11-2005, 01:39 PM
Here some stuff to draw, try to look at the proportions.
Draw as many as you can, don't draw details just the raw figures.

Why Superman?

Well, after a time i have more eye for an other hero. Sometimes Spider-Man, sometimes Batman, and now Superman!

I bought the first season of Smallville. I already saw 7 episodes and i like it! In August i gonna buy season 2 and in september season 3! This tv-series is great!

Also i want all seasons from Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman but it is not available on Region 2 dvd's as far as i know!

Looking forward to see Superman Returns. Good suit or not, the movie will be OK!

I get vulgar when it comes to people who dont even give others constructive criticism and just say like "you suck". Just keeping working at it steve, you will get better an better. THere is one book that really helped me its a WIZARD book, they have their own magazine. Its a book that has sections from the pros giving you tips on how to do certain things while drawing.

Hume, that was rude man, but u were telling the truth, those did suck, but if u look in the beggining of this thread, Spider-Steve, sucked, bad. Now he has improved. the only thing that i think everybody said wtf at was this.

Wow, Steve that's going better than I imagened.
Her face is pretty hard, just draw some shapes on a different paper and draw some lines to see where the eyes and how you best draw the nose. One thing I always do is I don't draw the entire nose, they look better with just hints of nostrills (neusgaten) or just a simple shape, and some shadow. And her right hand looks pretty good.

Spider-Steve
07-19-2005, 12:34 PM
yeah, i didn't thought it should go so good. I drewed it firtst a couple of times before i made the "final" drawing! Just to practice.

It is a whole other thing: The body from a woman vs a Super or a Bat man...

Ok, i gonna try to make the nose better. Thanks for the comment!
