I admit , i am a Bale fan , i myself have only seen American Psycho ( but i will be seeing Reign of fire) , and i just think he will suit this part very well .
Anyone got any arguments ?
:batman:
I think Bale was excellent in American Psycho. But I think he might be a little to old looking to pull off a young Wayne.
I'd much rather see someone like Matt Damon, who might not be very much younger (maybe he is, I don't know), but he does look like he's younger.
So... I'd like to see Matt Damon as Wayne/Batman. :)

He's been in "Angel Eyes" with Jennifer Lopez, "The Count of Monte Cristo" with Guy Pearce, and Frequency with Dennis Quaid.
Pretty much dark haired, could maybe work out more to get the part.

Christian Bale.
Very gifted actor, has an explosive dark side, which he demonstrated to perfection in American Psycho, he also played the villain in SHAFT (remake) and played opposite Nic Cage in Captain Corellis Mandolin.
Debuted in Spilebergs Empire of The Sun.
English, 28 Yrs old.
Although plays an American very convincingly.
He is 6ft 1- 6ft 2.
In my opinion could be the best suggestion yet for the Role of the Young DARK KNIGHT. Very gifted actor.
The only point I would make is that BATMAN of the Comic is supposed to be 230lbs +, but he could buff up as he did for American Psycho.
If there going with the rubber suit, then he is my number one guy for YR ONE.

Christian Bale = Welsh ! ( sorry for the exclamation , i'm just very patriotic :) ) , and he still is buffed up from American Psycho.
In my view , it's Bale for Year One / Batman VS Superman (whichever one they make) , or if he does'nt do it , COLIN FARELL

...he would be great as Batman. I thought Boreanaz(?) was perfect due to Angel's main purpose being brooding, but Bale is an intelligent choice. He could obviously do Bruce Wayne if he incorporates half of his Patrick Bateman, but Bateman's character also had many cold stares that would be perfect as Batman. Just get a director who understands Batman is a DARK character and you got a good movie. Now get Jason Lee as the Year One Joker!

Yes. Hell yes. I've been saying Jason Lee for Joker since "Dogma" and it's good to see someone have the same idea.
And as far as Bateman goes, he'd be good for "Bvs.S" but he might be a bit too old for "YO". Then again, I've never read the book so I don't know, but I've heard he is. If he isn't, then I say sign him up right now. If he is, I say get Colin Farrell. I know he's already done a comic book film, but I think he'd kick ass in the role.

Not trying to start an argument here, but I wrote English because reading an Interview with him last year in Empire in the UK, he stated that he is or considers himself English, despite the fact that he was born in Wales.

1. Well , Mr Bale may consider himself English , but where your are born is where you are from (that makes him welsh , sorry Christian) .
2. We now seem to be stuck in a two horse race between BALE and FARREL . Too be honest , i don't mind either.
3. an interesting point , BOTH of them are British. Batman is American is'nt he ? , might this effect the casting ? , BUT , BOTH can do perfect American accents
4.I read in a different post " Get Mark Wahlberg for Batman" . If this happens i may consider suicide , a very bad idea !

What if you were born in a taxi in New York but your parents are citizens of Brazil? Does that make you a New Yorker. Or better yet... What if you were born on a plane or a ship not in any designated country.
Where you are from doesn't define you.

NO, what are you on about? I said he looks too old, while I think Damon has kind of a baby-face which makes him look quite a deal younger.

Christian Bale would be a great Batman I think. I saw somewhere else someone mention Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) for the Joker. I think that would be an excellent idea. If you ever watched the Batman animated show, Hamill was the voice of the Joker, and to me, his was better than Jack's. Jack was Jack being the Joker, Hamill was just the Joker.
More then anything, I just hope they don't screw up Batman anymore than they already have. Bale would be a good start towards that. Actually, burning Joel Schumacher at the stake would be a better start.:batman:

At first I did not like the thought of Christian Bale becoming Batman. Now, on the other hand, that I have just seen Reign of Fire for the second time last night and it becomes more and more clearer to me that he may actually be the best Batman to date. I don't like to say this, for the fact that I thought the Keaton came across as a very descent Batman, but now there are doubts, very, very large doubts.

For those of you who believe Christian Bale looks too old for Y1:
Did Michael Keaton honestly look like he should have in his first year? No, he looked far older. Yet the general consensus is that he was the best. I'm not saying any of you are wrong, I'm just saying that I don't think it's that much of an issue, as far as Bale is concerned. And yes, Matt Damon does have a babyface, which is exactly why I would not consider him for the role (although I like his acting and all that).
But yes, I am a Bale advocate. Jason Lee as the Joker is a good idea as well, and I also think it would be interesting to see Jude Law play that part (although from what I've heard, he's supposedly landed the role of Supes.)
But when it comes down to it, us people (sadly) don't really have a say in the casting choices. If it does end up coming down the Farerl as bats and Law as Superman, I'll hold off my judgements till I see the movie. Or the trailer. ;) They're not terrible actors, actually very talented. As long as they do their jobs well, I'll be happy.

Look i'm pretty sure everyone wants Christian Bale more than any actor to become the next Batman he has the making of being the best of them all.
Also i dont think it is a stupid idea if Warner Bros make more than one BATMAN movie with more than one actor i was thinking something like this.
Christian Bale -either Batman year 1 or Batman vs Superman or even both.
Michael Keaton-The Dark Knight Comic series along with Burton
George Clooney- I know he was really crap in the last one but he has two or three more batman movies to do, i cotuine for batman and robin, with Bruce Timm in charge he will bring justice back.
Colin Farrel- No Mans Land series.
But yeah Christian Bale is the one and only in my mind

Christian Bale would make the best Batman ever. He is also rumoured to possibly be either, James Bond, Dracula and Robin Hood. Personally I think that he would play all these characters
better than anyone else (except maybe Pierce Brosnan).
manofsteel3000
08-28-2002, 12:24 PM
Bale would make a great Batman, just look at "American Psycho".
I would not mind seeing Farrell in the role either.
BTW- Pierce Brosnan is the second best Bond (behind Sean Connery, of course). But if Brosnan is set on leaving (which I am not happy about), I think Bale would be the third best Bond (at least the fourth behind Roger Moore).

I have alot of confidence in Christian Bale for the part of Batman. I haven't seen all of his work but have liked what I have seen. Reign of Fire and Equilibrium, which many dismissed as a matrix clone, and while it is influenced by it , what isnt these days? Equilibreum was a good movie in my eyes, it had big effects but still felt like a personal character driven movie to me and Bale was the best part about it. That was the first time i saw a complete movie with him in it. Not only did he display great physical prowess and look very natural in the action scenes, but had emotional depth. I believe his best role has yet to come, and I also believe that role will be Batman. He even went as far as to say he will dedicate his performance in Batman Begins to his father and make it his best performance yet. With his ability and drive, combinded with having the look and a great script to work with plus a great director to guide him, Bale will get the job done. Come 2005 the world will see batman like never before, and bale will forever etch a place for himself in history as the Dark knight.

He plays Jesus in "The Passions of the Christ". He's a good actor, but I seriously couldn't picture him jumping from playing Jesus to playing Batman....I think Bale is the better choice.
I do remember hearing that Caviezel was mentioned as a candidate to play Superman a few years ago.

I love Bale as Batman, but I am worried about the jawline and the mouth looking too slim... I have to wait until I see him in the mask. Even George Clooney looked like a bird in the mask! I even hated the picture of Bale as Batman on Batman-on-film.com. So far, I have disliked all the manipulations of Bale as Batman. I am worried...
You really hate ALL the manips?
How about this one:

IMO, this is the best manip we've seen yet of Bale as Batman. Even if the costume is not the one that'll be in the film, you can still look at the cowl and get a very clear idea of what he'll look like. You gotta admit, Bale does look a lot like Batman in that manip.

He considers himself English because his mother was born and raised in
England and his father (an Afrikaaner) is also of English lineage.
In other words, his nationality (nation of birth) is Welsh; whereas, his
ethnicity is English.
He's not a Welshman in blood and has lived in England for a long period

Anthony Hopkins and Tom Jones are true Welshmen through and through

Bale is a wonderful Batman.
He looks like the Neal Adams/Jim Aparo Batman.
It's nice to have a young and fit Batman/Bruce Wayne. Not that I'm downing Keaton he was great aswell, just a different Batman for a different type of Bat-Movie.
The only two who have ever portrayed Batman best and the right way are Bale and Keaton. Although I do like Micheal's Batman voice better.
Keaton's Bruce just had that dark look and eyebrows that seemed to come right off the cowl.
Bale's Bruce is dark but, there's a bit more there, I like how you see him putting on his public persona, whereas in the Keaton films you didn't really see that, he always seemed to be dark and mysterious, which I like anyway.
