This is my thread for characters in the Bat-world based on Begins designs. Any requests and ideas are welcome.
I'll just start off with the Bman that most of the characters will be based off.
(Villains may also be included)

Isn't that just a straightforward drawing of the 'Begins suit?

super scar
02-24-2005, 01:10 PM
Yes it is. That's what I'm doing is basing costumes off the Begins designs.
Here's a quick sketch for the Robin outfit. Just a sketch and I might have the final (mask included) up tonight...

Looks nice, put try and use brownish red colours for Robin that'll look better I think.

yeah, make the tunic more "rust colored" and add a raised red "R" emblem and its a very good costume.

I'd like to see:

The Riddler

i dont think Flass will be in 2.

Detective Flass
02-24-2005, 03:32 PM
He still has to be hung Vader, have you read Dark Victory? Him and Loeb get hung by Sophia Falcone.

Batman 3 will be basicly a translation to film of Dark Victory minus all the villain except Two Face, The Riddler, Calendar Man, and The Falcone Family.

super scar
02-24-2005, 03:50 PM
It does'nt have to be characters that might appear in the second film. Just anyone from Batman and I'll try and work it to go along with Nolans style.
Anyway here's another Robin design. My photoshop is down so if anyone wants to have a try at colouring any of them in the future P.M, me and I'll send a hi- res image.

The Joker is only in BATMAN 2 if it's a trilogy.

don't even listen to Flass. Everything he "knows" will happen with the franchise is really what he wants to happen.

I like your Batman and Robin designs a lot. I especially like the symbol on Bats and how you made Robin's outfit faithful, yet realistic. I cant wait to see your villians.

Super Scar- that Robin is excellent, though I do think the mask is a tiny bit Batman and Robin-esque.

I whole heartidly agree... Flass has been so full of it recently, i dont know what it is. He makes it seem like he is Nolan or a WB exec.

Thanx, once again. I'm glad people like the designs.
This next one is a preliminary sketch of the Riddler. It might not be to everyones liking, so, please post on how I can improve them. Still keeping with Nolans theme though.

pretty cool, but maybe add a question mark to the hat and tie?

spdrknight
02-24-2005, 08:43 PM
I like the riddler, but try to incorporate some question marks, but not overly and more suddlely. I don't think Nolan would co for a Riddler in spandex so I like that you kept the suit idea. Also, nice touch with the glasses instead of the mask, the thin strip is rather overrated and I think the Riddler would be more of a behind the scenes character, running things... not out pulling bank robberys.

Good job Super Scar.

super scar
02-25-2005, 12:57 PM
I must admit I thought I was gonna get flamed for posting these or asked to change them. I never expected this good a reception. As for the Scarecrow I had some designs in the past about a year before the official pics came out. I don't really want to do any until the film arrives but maybe just for the hell of it I'll try and do one later.
The big guns (Joker/Two-face) I'll need to come up with something special.
Just now I'm working on a Batgirl, Nightwing and Azbat.
Maybe another villain up tonight.

super scar
02-25-2005, 08:52 PM
Yeah, I thought about that cause I based the clothes from Oldmans Dracula. Thought it fit quite well but I already used shades for the Riddler and was worried people would think I was scraping the barrel.

Just give the Riddler eyeglasses and the Mad Hatter some dark shades. Just emphasize the difference and it should look just fine.

I have some doubts about the Mad Hatter design. The had needs to be bigger, Jervis need to be uglier and toothier.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/ripper/mh.jpg
I think the design is great, you’re keeping a lot of the great elements that work. But in my opinion... you should have him more as a midget, small in stature at least and you should give him a bigger hat like someone else commented and also, maybe some longer hair? I can see the Mad Hatter being more unhinged and deranged. But besides that, your on the right track.

spdrknight
02-26-2005, 01:41 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/ripper/bg.jpg
Great design again, your in keeping with Bales custom design.. but maybe that shouldn't be the way Batgirl should be portrayed. I only say this because, Babs doesn't have the access to Wayne’s technology and gadgets... so her look is going to be more homemade then Batman's. Also, maybe let her hair down... but keep the cowl, that really works and it's traditional.

I still like the design though even though I'm picking at =D.

Robin91939
02-26-2005, 02:12 AM
Yeah, that's a great, "FINAL" Batgirl costume, after she becomes Batman's new partner, but starting out it should be more homemade.

When it was rumoured Two Face might be in 'Intimidation Game' (Begins) I was thinking that they should go into Dents psychology. Maybe showing that his scarring was'nt too bad (reparable) but whenever Harvey looked at his reflection in a mirror he would see himself horrendously deformed.
Kinda like a phase 1 Harvey then a phase 2.
I'll see what I can do about the design.

Those first pics of Joker and Penguin are really cool. Thanks for putting those up. I've always thought of those guys as the top 2 villians. I like how you stuck to a more realistic Penguin. Joker looks a little like The Shadow.

But I think it's time to step away a little from the classic look of the Joker. I just wanna see what you'd think of for this. Take some of the Burton gruesomeness from the Penguin and stick it on Joker. Scarring, wrinkles, I dunno, just something....different. Make him a more un-realistic Joker. If it takes too much time, I won't ask for you to take too much time for a single request, I just think it would look cool.

The only problem is that (I'm pretty sure) Sonbaty is a short man. Nolan, or whoever's directing, would have to play around with perspective to make him bigger and more imposing. I actually picture the actor who fought Brad Pitt at the beginning of Troy as a good Bane.

Emerald Knight

if they can make Michael Chiklis look taller as the Thing in Fantastic Four (not trying to start something here, just making an observation) they could probably make Sonbaty look taller.

Was the guy who faced Pitt in the beginning of Troy an Australian former pro-wrestler? I remember him having a small role in that movie, but I have yet to see the movie. Was he a big guy, shaved head (I think), with a scary sadistic looking smile?

They still made him look kinda goofy, so, I typed in goggle designs into the image search engine and out came a design from some mobile phone company for goggles fitted with blue tooth technology. I know that alot of people are worried about using robin. Making him older as in the previous films is a logical choice but I've always been a proponent of keeping as faithful to the comics as possible. I wouldn't want to see a nine year old, but if they used a young teenage actor that would be good. The best approach to the character, if feel, would be to introduce him as they did in Dark Victory and Robin: Year One. Both showed batman's reasoning in allowing Dick to do this in the first place and addressed the morality of it, even going so far as to have Gordon threaten Batman with arrest if Robin got hurt. He's a tough character to handle but I think that if he and the story are well thought out it can be done without making Bat's a look like a wuss! :batman:

Thanx for the replies folks. This will be the last pic for a week. I'm off to Amsterdam tommorow. I'm taking a sketch pad with me but whether I'll be able to lift a pencil or not is another question. :D
