Well I have been coming here for a while now. With an older name of course. Finally figured out how to upload pics. Decided I might aswell post something
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y43/D_Thompson/50_MAP0000.jpg
Finished this today. Not really complete. I need to darken it more and clean it up a bit. I hardly do stuff like this. But I'm so pumped for Begins that I really felt the need to draw something from the movie.
I have more. But I need to find them. I moved a few months ago and haven't fully unpacked.

its good but you just copied a picture. theres not much to say the original was a cool shot and obviously you thought so too. See the thing is, when people use source material like a photo they more often than not treat it as scripture.
this is a great debut pic for Hype, better than I've put up. However, if you take the same route for future pics (which i think ppl would be interested to see), try to add something to the original by making it your distinct interpretation. If you can do this you garner a lot of respect and admiration. O and the ppl on the Hype love Bats. I mean in a a crazy crack induced euphoria sorta stalkerish festishism. So your on to something already...

Yeah. I am not into drawing as much as I used to be. So I usually draw something I like before my interest dies down. This Batman only took me two days too do. So i'm suprised I could get it to look good at all lol. I might start doing stuff again. And I will add something too it like you said.

o"Haire,
You're Batman drawn looks very good. This is Michael Keaton i think?! Right?
Can you make (draw) a Spider-Man or RoboCop or somebody else?
And, excuse when my English is not correct, i'm from Belgium and i didn't learned a lot of English. 2 schoolyears i think...

Yeah. I noticed that after posting the pic. I fixed it. I still need to do some more work too it. I will post it again when it's 100% done and satisfied with it.
I'm gonna start work on some other stuff sometime this week. Just don't know what.

I really didn't plan on plan on posting anymore pics considering I haven't been interested in drawing too much these days. But I decided too do another Batman based on one of the promo posters. It's been a few months since the last one. So don't be suprised if it looks kinda crappy.
I don't ususally like posting things until they are done. But I figure I might aswell post as I go along. That way you guys can let me know what you like and don't like about it.:)

Practice practice practice, That's what I heard from many of the teachers at the Kubert school.
One thing you may want to keep in mind when it comes to the mouth is, the corners of the mouth will always line up with the puples of the eye, unless you're drawing the Thing or characters like that.
Good job O'Haire.

What kind of paper are you working on? If my instincts are correct, I bet you are using paper that isn't the best for this type of work. Whenever I render with pencil like this, I'll use illustration board or at least a heavier ply paper with some tooth to it.
Also, I'm curious as to what kind of pencils you are using as well? That decision will also make a big difference in your work.
Anyways, the new piece seems to be coming along well and I’m interested in seeing the final.

Just plain computer paper with a #2 BIC pencil LOL. Not really interested in buying all the proper stuff. This is all just for fun. and something too do when I am bored. I used too have the proper art pencils and all that. Don't know what happend too them. I have moved so many times I can never keep track of things.

I showed these pictures of yours to some friends of mine and we all agree that you've probably got the best shading any of us has seen in a long time. It's apparent by the smudges on your paper how much time goes into these drawings but the outcome is WELL worth it...your drawings almost have a semi-photorealistic quality to them.
I'd love to see you do a Superman....perhaps the new Routh pic?

O'Haire, which pencil do you use to draw/shade?
For my earlier pictures I used just a #2 pencil. I noticed they didn't look to good after looking back at them. But for my Last two Superman pics I got out of that habbit but I still used the #2 for some of it. But for most of it I used Mars Lumograph Sketching Pencils H, 3B, and 4B. Makes things soooo much easier. For the shading to look smooth I use Kleenex.

Depends how into it I am. The Superman I put into the June Contest took about 2-3 days. Others are usually a week.
Mostly depends on how into it I am. If I'm really into doing it I will have it done in no time.
If something stars looking good from the beginning then I will be in a great mood. But if something ends up being just a pain to get right then it starts becoming a bummer. But if it turns out good in the end then it's worth it.

Your work is obviously incredible. You have an unbelievable talent. You're one of the few artists I've seen whose work can match mine, and I've never had an art class in school where I've had good competition. I draw in a similar style, so I know how difficult it can be to draw photorealistically.
But the problem is that your work almost seems exclusive to copying photos. And you only seem to have posted very popular images, so everyone knows what you copied from. My advice would be to combine various reference photos to create an image that is truly original. Use yourself, sports magezines, ads, anything you want to use as a reference. It can be more of a challenge, but also more enjoyable.
You'll get an original, but in that photorealistic style you favor so much.
(And my comment in the first paragraph is not boasting. I'll post some of my artwork soon to prove it.)
Keep up the good work!

as the french might say, fantastique! the subtlety to the shading is extraordinary: witness the subtle reflection of the white shirt on the underside of his chin! superb. and the texture on the suit is great, too.

Never saw the movie. Looked pretty bad. But Chalize Theron looked great. And I have been wanting to draw her for a while.
Looks incredible, but the tips of the swinging hairs should be almost blending into the backround to convey motion. You did it on a few clumps, but there are a few prominent ones that could have used the effect.
Other than that, it's still a 10/10.

Just fixed the thicker bits of the hair. I also noticed some looked thinker because I forgot to erase the pencil outlines.
But I'll stick with this one. Don't feel like re-scanning it and uploading it again LOL.

I can't help my jaw dropping everytime i click the next page to see what you've done. I've always wanted to draw realisitic stuff like this, but my skill has yet to develop.
Anyway, i really wanted know, when did you realise you could do these magnificently, amazing drawings?

Theres nothing that I could do that could even touch what you do when it comes to art work. Your an inspiration to me and I hope someday I can draw as good as you:woot: . I really wanted to post a picture of Weapon X I did awhile ago and since this is my first time posting art this thread seems suitable. So heres one of my older versions of Weapon X: *note: His legs are rather thinner then what they should be and I forgot to add the hair to the rest of his body*::http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs17/i/2007/174/7/3/Wolverine_by_donaldthe3rd.jpg

If I were you, I would PM O'Haire and let him know that you've posted one of your pics in his thread. I'm not sure if he intended this thread to be only for his artwork, or for anyone's first time posting art. He could possibly get offended by it if this was meant to be his personal thread, so just let him know.

Took me 3 tries just to get it to look decent. Craig is a pain in the ass to get right. I worked on it for a month. I know the suit looks like crap. Don't care. I'm done and sick of looking at the picture. LOL
This is ****ing TIGHT.

Couldn't fit it all so I had too scan the head and hand separately and put them together in paint. I suck at doing stuff like that. Thats why the hand looks strange.
Here is the WIP I took with the digital camera...
Pencil outline...

Go over the pencil with ink...

Finishing Hair, face and jacket...

Finished here.

This is what it is suppose to look like. The hand is much different than my crappy cut and past job.

I was bored and wanted to try something new. I'm getting burnt out on doing pencil stuff. This is my first attempt at doing something in more of a comic book feel. Still trying to get the hang of it. Been watching the Potter movies and felt like drawing them. Done with pen and ink with some pencil and white gel pen on Voldemort.

Book is too big for the scanner so it's kind of bent and her face looks thinner and longer than it really is.

Might do more of these for a while. I want to do some Lord Of The Rings stuff next.

HATED how it originally turned out. So I dusted off the old Prisma Markers. It's been a long time since I have used them. I'm much happier with it now.
