Hmm, interesting matchup....

Symbiotes are tough buggers and Logan has his healing factor........Carnage definitely has the strength advantage......although Logan's claws could probably tear the main body to pieces......and the best Carnage can do would be to flood his mouth and suffocate him....

Logically it would be Logan, but since I am a Carnage fan I have to go with him...

Carnage, dammit. He's stronger than Venom, can still use a webbing kinda thing and can tear Wolvie's fleshy parts apart before the canuck can say "bub". Logan can't take Spider-Man and he definetely can't take Carnage.

BS! Consider that an ordinary boxer can throw 2 punches in a second. The symbiotes have Spider mans speed(15x human). That translates to 30 attacks possible in 1 second. Add the fact that Carnage can undoubtedly create and use extra limbs and you multiply that by 2 or 3. Its like fighting a mobile giant cuisinart.

Wolverine all the way

Carnage has quite a few disadvantages when it comes to this fight.

1. he is used to fighting enemies that don't kill as easily as he does

2. most enemies can be knocked out ripped apart quickly

3. A few cuts might daze W but he will come back quick if C thinks hes out for the count, no head no C

In the last arc of Wolverine when he fought the Gorgon, I found myself thinking "How can he possibly win". The answer was so obvious I ever saw it coming. My point is Wolverine would win period.

Also I think people are forgetting, Sasquatch matched blows and went toe to tow with 616 Hulk and the SUper Skrull. While Exiles Sasquatch is actually weaker than 616 Walter [from her stats that is]

Edit: Exiles Sasquatch was even holding back against Wolverine, since in her reality he was her husband and eventually he went mad and she was forced to kill him. Even current 616 Sasquatch has gone toe to toe twice with current Jugz, who isn't like his classic strength but he is still class 100

It would take more than just withstanding bullets to be in metahuman level of durability. Mr. Fantastic's body is bullet proof but he is not in metahuman level of durability. If you can show me Puck withstanding a direct hit from a tank and extreme temperatures and extreme cold then I will accept that he has more than just a bulletproof body.

But about his agility, I concede that Puck can rival Spiderman in that power.

Mr.Fantastic "rubber" body is different from Puck's. While Mr.Fantastic can morph his body Puck can't due to his body is like compressed rubber that's why he can take changes in pressure and temperature while Mr.Fantastic is more malleable. It was stated as such, so why is there doubt?

Well, alphaflight.net states that Puck is invincible to the point of being bulletproof, thus his durability limit. That is why I and you and anyone cannot say his durability level is metahuman. Marvel does not state that his durability is in metahuman level. It is under superhuman level. Although those two terms are synonymous, in marvel comics they are not.

I was not referring only to you. My "you" there in my statement refers to anyone including me. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

It's a fansite, and to the point of being bulletproof does not mean that's all he can do. What that means he is so durable he has become bulletproof. Er? The fansite is quite accurate. And, yes, the statement does not mean that's all he can do. It was stated in the fansite that Puck is invincible to the point of being bulletproof. It clearly emphasize the limit of his invincibility. I also made research on other sites like wikipedia.org and other marvel fansites. They stated there that Puck possess some degree of superhuman resistance to injury. That is clearly far from being metahumanly durable.

And about the scan you've posted where Puck takes on an energy beam, it is not enough to convince me with your arguement.
Well, I guess I should also pause for a while and stick to the match ups.

It is accurate, but in ALpha FLight Puck has taken much more than bullets and was ok [bear with me I will try to get scans, I have early classes tommorow]. The marvel handbook states he is, not some fansite that thinks he is. No offence, I don't see why there is a debate in the regard, I take even a marvel handbook over fansites. Handbooks usually underestimate people's strength. BTW Wikipedia is not trustworthy anyone can add anything and his bio is way to small to be detailed. Actually wikipedia didn't even mention his durability
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puck_%28comics%29

Most sites just say high density or something to that regard. Always trust the source [comics]

Yes, but he would have to be pushed to his stretching limit, which has varied over the years. In his early years it was somewhere around 60 feet I believe, but I have no idea what it's at now.

Always trust the source [comics]
http://www.uncannyxmen.net/db/characters/showquestion.asp?fldAuto=831

Oh that was just a quick scan I already uploaded, I have to look through my collection to find more. That's why I said I won't have scans for a few days. Cuidos to you for keeping it civil, shows your maturity and skill when it comes to debating

I'll wait for the scans. Here is where I got the info that Puck's durability is in some degree in superhuman level:
http://underworld.fortunecity.com/blood/201/marvel/puck.html and here:
http://www.comicboards.com/marvelguide/p2.html (http://www.comicboards.com/marvelguide/p2.html)
I'll do more research on Puck. Who knows, I may convince myself:)
Do you have the actual marvel handbook on your possession? I would really like to have one. Where can I buy one?

No offence, but those are not the most credible sites. First site is wrong some degree to super strength, eh? [bottom mentions compressed rubber, just checked other bios and Vindicator and Guardian are wrong] The guy is near indestructable even stated that and others as well has stated that. Once again goes against what was said. Second site doesn't even mention much at all. Once again fansites are not reliable.

Yep, I have the entire series. There is like 30 or so for the whole set so depends on what version you want. Also I just got mine at my comic book store

***Okay, things are going to be a little different for this match-up. I'm posting this battle because over in Jewish Hobbits Contest of Marvels, which I am involved in, this match-up has been a tie over and over again...so we decided to end it once and for all this way. This is how its going to work: Wolverine 25th, and Wiegeabo are the owners of these 2 characters...they both wrote up arguements and sent them to me. I am going to post the arguements, and I want everyone to read them before voting...it is absolutley crucial that everyone READ the arguements before deciding who they are going to vote for...if your too lazy to read the arguements, do not vote! It is equally as crucial that no one voting debates this match-up in anyway because that would be unfair to the two contestants involved. The contestants will have a chance to write one rebuttle to their opponents arguement if they desire to do so. I believe that sums everything up everything I wanted to cover...have fun and happy voting :up:***

STRONG GUY (WIEGEABO)

Constrictor's a tough fight since he’s got the reach advantage, yet Guido's got some things going for him. He knows the range of the cables since they've fought twice now, and if those cables are taken out, then Constrictor's a normal guy who won’t stand a chance against SG. Guido can stay out of range by attacking from a distance, hurling any objects he finds on the campus, or by even knocking sections of building down and throwing the debris. Now, Constrictor will likely be able to stop/destroy these projectiles, maybe even fling a few of his own. But this just wears down Constrictor's power supply, and any debris that hits Guido will just power him up, letting him throw more massive objects at greater speeds. And if any of these hit Constrictor, he's down for the count.

So Constrictor has to move in close. But too close and the cables become a liability and Guido’s got him.

But let's say Constrictor gets to the right distance and lashes those cables at Strong Guy. So Guido grabs them to prevent being wrapped up and constricted. Now he's got a problem because thousands of volts of electricity are being pumped into him. This may hurt Strong Guy, but he's no stranger to pain, and now he's really pumped up. Pumped up to the point where he can keep hold of the cables despite the pressure they exert. This is a guy who can take on the Hulk when fully pumped up, and that’s what Constrictor is doing to him now. So Constrictor better watch out or Strong Guy might just be able to tie those cables into knots (I almost said he'd rip them to shreds, but I doubt he could do that to Adamantium even if amped up all the way). Constrictor can try to lift Strong Guy to smash him into things and spin him so as to wrap the cables around him, but Guido acts first wrenching Constrictor right off his feet and slamming him down.

Now, its Guido's goal to keep Constrictor so battered that he can't fight, possibly by using the pressure from the cables to feed his energy if he gets caught. And if Guido got wrapped up, then whatever pressure the cables exert trying to crush him would be kenetic energy he could absorb, meaning he could use the same amount of force to fight any constriction. Of course all that kinetic energy would be dangerous to Guido if he didn’t release it. But he would in the form of fighting against the cables. And if Guido can fight those cables longer than Constrictor’s power supply holds out, then the fight is his.

That’s what happens if Guido tries to take on Constrictor directly, out in the open. And he still has a good chance of winning. What if Guido decides to use the campus against Constrictor?

Strong Guy has plenty of places to hide for a surprise attack. Maybe duck into a building and collapse a couple of floors onto Constrictor to knock him out quickly when he follows. Now, the debris may knock Constrictor out, or at least disorient/disable him. And if it doesn't, or he uses his cables to protect himself, Strong Guy drops down on top of his opponent. A couple of quick punches to the face (possibly damaging the cable controls), and Constrictor is out. Of course Constrictor can try to do the same by staying outside of the building and breaking in with his cables, or if inside the building, reaching up through the floor to grab Guido. But if one of those cables comes through a wall or floor, Guido will just grab it, absorb any zap of electricity, and pull Constrictor through the wall. Maybe even swing him around and bash him a few times to make sure he goes down.

Or maybe SG runs into the science building, getting Constrictor to follow him into a lab. Guido can now start tossing chemicals at Constrictor, preferably ones that have the word acid on the label. The goal wouldn’t be to kill or seriously hurt Constrictor, but to burn through his insulated suit, and possibly the cable controls, shutting them down. This is a dangerous tactic though since Constrictor can do the same thing. Yet if Guido takes a little acid his clothes get ruined and he gets burned but can still fight, Constrictor could lose the ability to use his cables. Another advantage for Guido. Maybe Guido can find a powerful electromagnet (the place probably has one), and magnetizes the cables, taking away Constrictor's ability to fight.

A little cunning, strategy, and hiding in ambush inside or outside of buildings (which should be no problem for a trained member of an X team) and Guido can wrap this up. He's fought harder opponents before, this one's just going to take a little finesse, which he does have despite his appearance. And SG’s got that kind of cunning in him. He may often come off us a goof who’s not that bright, but he really is a smart guy. He just uses jokes to cover up the pain he's always in, distracting himself from the pain and others from the way he looks. So thinking his way through this match, against an opponent he’s faced twice already, isn’t above what Guido can do.

CONSTRICTOR (WOLVERINE25TH)

Constrictor may be an ordinary human, but his battle suit more than makes up for it. Not only is it fashionable, but it serves on many levels of protection, especially from bullets.

His weapons are a pair of adamantium coils that can extend up to 30 feet, extending his reach a great deal. They can be used as powerful whips or can completely wrap up an enemy or object constricting with 115 lbps per square inch. Add to that he can conduct electricity from his power pack through the coils shocking his foes.

Constrictor is also a pro; which means he can only do what he does through intensive training with his primary weapons. Given the variety of situations he would encounter over the course of his career, he would have learned how to overcome many obstacles and attempts to thwart his coils. Basically, he wouldn't be so easy to pin down.

All this together has allowed him to go up against the likes of the Hulk and survive, so Strong Guy shouldn't be much more of a challenge. Even if being whipped gives Guido a kinetic power boost, he still needs to get his hands on Constrictor to do anything about it...and despite how fast he is his mass would slow him down.

Not to mention any projectiles Guido could lob his way, Constrictor could deal with with a massive whip defense, making the debris inconsequential. Also, as strong as Guido is he's not invulnerable. Whipping him would hurt, as would being electro-shocked by the coils. The only downside is Constrictor has a limited charge that powers them and his charge attacks, so it would have to be sparingly used or a final blow. That could easily be amplified, however, making use of any water or metal found within the university buildings. Get Guido into a hallway, rip up some water pipes and send an enhanced shock his way.

Also, let's not forget the move that gives Constrictor his name. As strong as Guido is when he starts off his coils are extremely powerful AND indestructable. So if Constrictor snags him, he can deliver a lot of hurt without increasing Guido's kinetic charge and strength.

There's also one last advantage. Guido's heart gets strained the more mass he puts on. If Constrictor can increase his mass buildup faster than Guido can expend it, that could let Guido take himself down. Not to mention, as a criminal for hire Constrictor has no morals and is not afraid of fighting as dirty as possible.

It's part of the "Contest of Marvels". This matchup has been deadlock for two weeks now so we decided to use Sparta's thread to settle the issue. The write ups are what each person gets to do to plead their case in why their character should advance. In the thread you actually have free range and debate as much as you want, but because we didn't want to clog up Sparta's thread each one gets an initial post and one rebuttle afterwards.

If you are interested in joining the contest, we will be starting season 2 in about 3 months from now. In the meantime you can check out the threads in my sig...

Domino...good luck has to count somewhere, so this should give her the ability to not be ambushed. Than one round to the head and Wolfsbane is down for the count.

I realize I shouldn't be so annoyed over Pity votes, if you'd read further you would have found that. there is also no need to be so upset over someone's impotent pissing and moaning over something that doesn't matter.

Domino wins this one. Wolfsbane will just have bad luck and then, simply lose to Domino. -_-

I vote for Wolfsbane bringing the final tally to 15-6 for Domino

Next battle shortly...

Good matc up Sparta*.

I'm gonna say... Caliban because I can actually understand all of his powers.

Sparta*
01-08-2006, 10:51 PM
Thanks Zoke,

I'm gonna go for Post though...according to his bio he can backlash mutant abilities that are used against him, so is Caliban tries to amplify his fear, he can turn that right against him...besides that they are fairly evenly matched

Toby_Temple
01-08-2006, 10:56 PM
Hmmm. If Pyro can kill Post(killed him already) then Caliban wins this match. :)

Zoken
01-08-2006, 10:56 PM
Well Post would have to fear Caliban for that to even take effect, and from his pic and bio I doubt that he would fear Caliban. remember, Caliban can only amplify fear OR he can use it to make himself stronger, which doesn't fall under the catagory of "used against him" now that psychoactive virus on the other hand, does that fall under the title of "Mutant Power"?

Taking over the Marvel vs DC tournament in the MISC forum has crossed my mind on more then one occasion...I do have some really awesome DC cards I could use...but i'll pass...I might just start using DC characters as well at some point in the future...like, kinda have an everything tournament...Marvel vs Marvel, DC vs DC, or Marvel vs DC...but i'm not going to worry about it now

True but if somebody like Beak needs to be punished in a tourney against the Living Tribunal, the result looks crazy as 100005 to 1.
