M has: Superhuman strength and speed, nigh-invulnerability, accelerated healing factor, flight, enhanced vision and hearing, telepathy, and the ability to perceive mutants' auras.

Now normally I would say Firestar but seeing has how M is "night-invunerable" and she has a healing factor and flught she pretty much is unstoppable and would be able to flatten Firestar and besides that as far as I know Firestar doesn't have much of a mental defense so I go with M hands down

Well for starters you need to have 300 posts. When you get there you will find an edit avatar option on your user control panel. Then you can put up a little dinky avatar like mine that can barely be seen but someday when you have a lot more post you will be able to add an avatar that isn't a waste of time putting up.

They have told the story of Apocalypse and his origin as En Sabah Nur back in ancient Egypt. So Kang can't be Apocalypse but it's possible I suppose that Apocalypse is Kang.

Whoa, I don't see Spidey beatign Ben at all. It'd take him 3 days to spin enough webbing to restrict Ben's movement as Ben's kinda super strong. If Cap gave Spidey a good up close fight in the last ASM, then Thing would squash him. If he tried the far away assault thing, Ben wouldn't have to do much but wait for him to get tired.

Ben is strong and tough but not in par with someone like Thor or Hulk. Peter is smart enough to know that he can't fight Ben fist to fist, so his wits is in play here which is alot better than Ben. Peter is also strong enough to hurl large objects to Ben as a distraction as he prepares his plan against Thing. That's why I'll vote for Spider-Man. :)

Peter has already horribly outclassed Titania who is in the same strength class as the Thing and even more durable. He punched out Crusher Creel at the same time and Creel doesn't hesitate to go toe to toe with Thor. Even working together against Spidey he terrified them. I don't think that Ben would ever even really be in the fight although he would take a really bad beating before he went down just on sheer stubborness. Peter has already proven repeatedly that he can defeat people in Bens strength class even on just raw physical ability.

At least they're consistant about it then because they have had him do it on multiple occasions. He's punched out Titania on at least 2 occasions, plus Firelord. He also engaged the Thing briefly when he tried to join the FF back in the beginning. Peter effortlessly handled Ben at that time although of course the fight was stopped before there was a victory.

Its just this. Ben could probably take a direct hit from a running train. The same thing cannot be said to Peter. You don't see Peter use his body to stop a running truck or burst straight through a concrete wall all the time. He won't even survive being hit by a rocket. But Ben could. So I don't see any reason that Spidey could seriously hurt Thing with his own strength.

Spidey hits a lot harder than his lifting strenght would suggest due to the fact that his punches travel faster than a person with normal speed would be capable of. The force of the punch increases with the increase in speed. This means that while as of this contest The Thing is 8.5x as strong, Spidey probably hits as hard if not harder. I believe the relevant equation is F=m(v squared) although after all these years its a wonder I remember that. I'll leave it up to somebody else to apply the equation if they feel up to it. It would probably be a pain to work out accurately.

Thing can take a 20 ton bus rammed at him. That means he can take more than 20 tons. Remember, he already went toe-to-toe with the Hulk and lived to tell the tale. And Thing does not move like a turtle. So Spidey needs to use his wits to definitely win.

Spidey would tire him out. When looking at a real fight always keep and eye on the small wirey guy rather than the big lunk. Maneuverability and speed are key to this. My jiu jitsu coach always used to say that even bruce lee was too muscular and that this was just for show, to be at peak fighting ability it is necessary to be slim and flexible, too much muscle just ties you up and slows you down. Spidey would be ducking & weaving all over the place with his spider-sense kicking off. Yes, If thing hit him it would probably leave spidey catatonic for a week, but I just don't think bens got the speed. Not only that but ben wouldn't beat on a friend but as civil war has shown us spidey basically has no morals anymore and will smack the **** out of anyone his ***** overlord stark tells him to :(

Spider-Man; The Thing has the smarts that the Hulk doesn't have and enough power to match him when he's calm, but Spider-Man has faced tougher challenges and is much more intelligent than both put together. Peter's proven again and again that size means nothing in a true battle, and if they ever fought I think Spider-Man would have the advantage. Even if the Thing has fought him before, he hasn't fought the recently-enhanced version...

While I agree that it would be great if everyone would put their reasoning behind their votes, AND their wouldn't only be like 6 votes per match, I still take solace in the fact that if I still put up a good argument, I can persuade people to vote for my character on that reasoning and maybe take some of the total bias/laziness/whatever out of the matches.
