Hey everyone, I wanted to start a thread where we could have random match-ups, and then vote on who we think would win! The battles are going to be random, so anyone can fight anyone, but I guarantee they will be very good!! I need to make a banner at some point today, so the match ups will look a little bland for now...First match up coming up in a sec.....

Just so you know, this has been done dozens of times before. But as long as you keep it in one thread, I doubt anyone will complain.

Are the characters gonna be fighting like themselves, or are they gonna fight to their full potential? Because Thor would squeeze out a win in the former case, but the Surfer would beat Thor pretty handily in the latter.

I know, but I seem to allow myself to get drawn into vs. threads anyway. Sometimes arguing with people who have no clue what they're talking about can be fun in an amusingly frustrating kind of way.

I am a huge marvel fan, and I have been collecting comics and cards since I was about 9, and im 19 now, so i've been really into marvel for a good ten years. I was always curious as to who other faithful marvel fans would choose in certain match ups, so thats why I made this thread. The next 3 battles after this will be the thing versus someone, the invisible woman versus someone, and mr fantastic versus someone....lets see how well the fantastic four hold up against some serious competition!
My vote for this battle goes to...........................hmmm this is a toughie............I guess i'll have to say the Human Torch.

I think Iceman has it. I know the first thought is that Torch can melt him but Frosty can frees the air around him and extingish him as well. So with all the creative ways I"ve seen Iceman use his powers I think he'd find a way to win.

That's kind of hard b/c Torch can melt Iceman or Iceman can freeze Torch either way
Have to go with frosty on this as he has found new more powerful ways to utilize his powers. However Torch could still win with a well placed nova blast so its close but i think Iceman wins 7 out of 10 so I go with him.

They both have limitless power...thats why the fight would be so interesting...The way I decided was by thinking that if Iceman tried to hurt Human torch the ice wouldn't penetrate his firefield, but the torch could penetrate through icemans defenses. The fight could still go either way.

Well, ice is very thick (much more than snow) and is harder to melt. I say the ice could go through the fire, at least eventually, and defeat human torch (I say this in brief, there is a little more to it than that, but I believe this is the main thing that favors the Iceman for the victory). Oh, and I already voted, but thought I would give my reason why I voted for Iceman.

I'd have to say Human Torch for a couple of reasons. One he's been around longer so he's better with his powers. Two he goes super nova and it's lights out for Iceman.

Invisible woman could plummet Jean grey with invisible projectiles to stop her though. Shes taken out people with one shot before. Jean coudl be bombarded before she even knew what was going on. I was planning on just having random matches (but also getting into team vs team, 3 on 1, 2 on 1, etc etc) I host a tournament over at the comingsoon.net boards for video game characters. We did mortal kombat and now we are on street fighter. That one is an actual tournament, but I like random matches better, you have more flexibility. All bias aside I think this one would be real close. Thing is mass stronger than Wolverine but Wolvie's claws can break Thing's hide. I think the decision for me would go for Wolverine because where Thing wouldn't go to far, Wolverine could go bazerk and just destroy Thing.

The Thing. If Wolverine hurt Thing with his claws, and just maybe (probably in my opinion) making Thing snap, realizing this is a real 'serious' fight, then the Thing would beat Wolverine via KO pretty quickly because of his great strength. But even if Thing doesn't snap, he would still win because of his superior, great strength, but it could take awhile and he would probably get sliced up a bit more. But the Thing wins for sure. :thing:

X-Factor. This is a tough one, though, but I think X-Factor would edge out the X-Men. That is also because 2 of my favorite X-Men are missing (with the exception of Wolverine who I really like), the 2 are Xavier and Colossus.

Yeah but this X-Factor was one Hell of a team. I read the book when they were together and they were awesome. They gave the Hulk trouble and that is quite a feat. I miss that team. We kind of got a taste of them again in the latest Madrox miniseries PAD did awhile ago. There's a rumor that PAD might be doing more stories with Madrox so who knows maybe we'll see the team back together again.

Rogue VS Strong Guy - Rogue, Guido's the type of guy that'll underestimate a pretty face, a big mistake here.

Maybe I'm just ignorant of ALL of Multiple Man's powers but...how in the hell would he beat Wolverine? As far as I can tell, the guy can make copies of himself...and, if I'm not mistaken, he can't just make infinite duplicates...there IS a limit, right? Wolverine could cut these guys down as fast as Multiple Man could make them...I don't get how Multiple Man would beat him...even IF Wolverine DOES win too many of these things.

Incidentally, regarding the Cap-Cyclops matchup at the very beginning of the thread -- In Exiles, Mimic dropped an alt-universe Cap with Cyclops' eye beams in one shot. It's alternate universe so not a 1:1 comparison, and Mimic had a surprise advantage, but I still consider it pretty significant supporting evidence.
