Wow thats beatifull , does anyone see the fire coming out of the skull on the front? now i just can't wait even more to see a actual ghost rider picture. that hellcycle looks like 70000000 times better then the one i made.

Everyone can see the hellcycle/ghostrider I made by going to this link
amw's hellcycle/ghostrider (http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5440701#post5440701)

This board should really take off now since the hellcycle was released.

It looks a little like Vengence's bike from the comics, but since Vengence was just the Venom to Ghost Rider's Spider-Man, who cares if anything was stolen from him...

Oh, and Harry at AICN had a couple nitpicks about the CGI in the pic:
[The Hellcycle] Doesn't adhere to the laws of physics... notice how the tires are baring no weight - or how the flames apparently don't cast light on the other side of the cycle on the pavement. Ok ok ok, that's nitpicking geek s--t. It rocks hard core.

But again..who cares? I'm still not sold on Nic Cage as Blaze by a long shot, but this looks sweet so I'll get over it.

The bike in that drawing looks kind of like a Harley Fat Boy, and I'm glad GR's bike doesn't look like a Harley since every wealthy middle-aged man has one these days.

antmanx68: I really dont like the Chain look on the front.... i mean, thats a really really stylistic choice that i think is too "pimp my ride" for Ghost Rider, but then again im not super knowledgable about the character... Just the chains kind of kill it for me, the rest is ok.

I was a little unsure about the chains at first too, but then I figured that the movie GR probably won't use a chain like the 1990's comic version GR did, so the design is just a bit of an homage to the '90's GR.

Just think of how cool the chain fork concept is if you ignore all the stupid chain licence plates, steering wheels, and decals that you see on the streets and it's not so bad.

I'm extreamly pleased with it actually. I'm happy that it's a chopper, as that's the coolest lookin' bike (IMO) and I'm happy that it doesn't just look like a normal bike. It had to look like it was from another place... and it definatly looks like that.

... and it's so shiney.

I also like that it takes a little from Vengeance's bike.

Woha-

Really good design, solid, especially the massive chain fork(the weak point of choppers...being so massive gives to the bike the appropriate toughness, and they are very "evil" with the spiked endings), i'm not so sure about the skull, but the idea of having the gas tank acting as "part"(the back actually) of the cranium, with that beautiful and muscled curve is really well portrayed and realized..
uhmmm very good radiator scoop, with the pointy lateral footpedals(still they resemble claws to me ...O_O) the engine part seems ribcaged(good) and the transmission seems somewhat fused/melted....but what really works is the proportion of the fork and the gastank high position... even the handles are very well designed...with the scaled look in the upper part...clever:)
Although GRII bike in the comics is my favourite, this one really capture the essence of GR..nice work, Miles Teves (his hand is clearly recognizable on the skull):P

ok now i understand completely the skull. The spiked fork are like elongated canine teeths, there is no other "teeth"(and it is good, any real teeth would have been really too much), but the mascellar bone (that is the bone of the upper jaw) splits in two just under the nasal hole, and this is fine anatomical art, because the mascellar is a twin bone(two halves, righty and lefty) and normally it fuses in one around teen age.

It´s even a great relief, because the lack of news since march the 20th is not only sad, but revolting.:( :( :(
Where´s the GR informative sites, like Internapse and Vengeance Unbound, who bring us news not inly about the movie, but everything from toys to comics?
I hope they return soon. Better, i prey.
Right now i´m working, here in Brasil, in front of the Company´s computer and i just see the pic. I´m really fueled with joy.
Now i can´t wait to see the look of GR, Blackheart, Mephisto...

damn that's GORGEOUS!!!

this movie has the ability to do what the best comic adaptations should, that is show us sights we've never seen before, seeing as GR's from Mark Steven Johnson whos "Shadow Vision" visuals from daredevil were truly brilliant and easily match the wonders seen in Spidey and Hulk in terms of awe and general "coolness" i don't doubt that this will look absolutely awesome up on screen as it really is a THING OF BEAUTY!!!

They got the Blaze chopper/Ketch flaming wheels combo going, so I'm happy with that. Could look a little less cartoony "evil" and a little more like an actual bike for my tastes, but that's a minor quibble. It'll probably look great on film, moving.

9/10, I'd say. Can't wait to see it hop over parked cars and race up a wall.

I'm kinda happy that it doesn't look a whole lot like either of the bikes actually. Both were too 'normal'. The shield from Ketch's bike was all I was mainly looking for in the movie design, just so that I know he'd be beatin' down walls. I'm not even sad that it's not their, now that I've seen it. I love the design.

Yeah, its a pretty good combo brought to the next level. I like it a lot. I did think a little cartoony with the skull in the front, but after I got to looking at it I think it works well since its not a huge skull like on vengeances bike. The skull on the front kinda looks like one of those skulls you might find out in the dessert with the handlebars for horns, except its brimstone with fire coming out of it. Sorta gives a western feel to it. Like on a steel horse Blaze rides.....hehheh or maybe its just me seein it that way.
Either way its a wicked chopper.

First look at the Hellcycle and the first look at the Superman Returns \S/...this is one hell of a great day!

I'm sad that the front page news got pushed away because of the Superman S actually. It doesn't even look like anything besides a steel sybol that we've all seen many times before. Why push the coolness of GR's bike off the front page for that. Sheesh.

i think its also kindve odd that both film companies released an official image exclusively to SHH on the same day. Sony probably heard that Warner was gonna do a official image for today and decided to one-up them...and they certainly did!

I'm sick of the whole supes thing too, though I will support the movie because I'm a huge fan of Kevin Spacey. You're right though; the character's had his day and he's still getting more attention than most other characters. It's crazy for a character that really isn't that interesting.

You're probably right on the whole 'sony heard that warner was releasin' images' thing... though I like to think that Warner seen the official release of the Hellcycle and had to release something of their own. The two movies are battling for most hype in 2006 right now.

Supes will take the BO in 2006 im sure...GR just cant compete against something thats been around as long (and more family friendly) as Superman has. if given a choice most people will want a clear cut hero...GR is definately not.

I read somewhere that this was one of the ideas for the bike. It was not my favorited, but now that I see the finished result I want one! I just hope that Cage is strong enough to turn that big of forks though. Now all we need is a picture of Cage in costume. :)

InVictus
04-12-2005, 05:12 PM
The more i see the pic the more i understand its structure. Actually the handles resemble very much horns, with the partial upper scaling, but near the skull they twist in a very bony way...verry verry good.
But..i start to think this pic is all CGed. If you remember MSJ said he had a scale model on his desk, a thing used today for 3d scanning & then rendering in the post production, as they did, to example, with the balron and ogres of LOTR.
The parts that really suggest CGI are the point of the fork (too much smoth, too much "perfect", and it doesn't reflect the flame image, only the color), the "chained" fork (all ring reflect lights in unreal exactly same way) and the top of the gas tank (too much perfect, unnatural source of light).. Probably there was a motorcycle there, but only for CG basis. So i think that it is possible they will do the scene with some bike somewhat similar to this, without most of the features, that will be applied later in PP.
Also, who saw the hellcycle recently said he didn't had any skull...

it feels to me that the Superman camp delibretely held off on posting the S until after the Hellcycle was revealed, to try and get one-up on the GR production.
it also feels to me that the Superman production is a little lacklustre. it just feels to me that it'll be a huge hit but without much of a story....
now GR. well, i'm posting here so you can already garner my take on this film. :)

I wonder what it sounds like in real life, and what they are going to make it sound like in the movie. It needs to at least as loud as a set of drag pipes. A bike that mean and awsome looking needs to have a sound (or should I say roar) to match appearances.

I bet it's Miles Teves who made(actually sculpted the model for cgi, i guess) it. I think i've recognized his style(www.milesteves.com (http://www.milesteves.com), just look at Legend, or Chronicles of Riddick), and he's in the staff of GR, to make prosthetics & sculpting... i'm really bummed by this design. i really wish that it were based somewhere near reality. having grown up on gr books, and being an avid motorcyclist, i truly hope they do far better than this. i always saw hellcycle as being more sportbike or standard than chopper, but even so, there are literally hundreds of chopper builders who could've done a fantastic job with this bike. i'm even sure that buell had gr in mind when they designed the xb12r firebolt:
http://www.motorcycledaily.com/04buell_xb12r.jpghopefully something better happens, because i'm severely disappointed with what i'm seeing. maybe we can convince them to call confederate cycles and pick up a couple of wraiths. at 50g's a pop it'll be far less expensive than a fully cgi cycle.

Ghost Rider is a product of the 1970's, and even though Johnny Blaze was a stuntbike rider, the image of Ghost Rider blazing down desert highways in a big bad-ass chopper just makes more sense than a zippy little sportbike or a futuristic anime bike.

crystal_flame6

First off, the movie is JB/GR with a very few elements of DK/GR in with it. JB had a chopper as a run-around bike, not a cafe-racer. The movie is set to look like Texas and choppers are a better choice than cafe-racers for highways. Plus choppers have a lot of options that cafe-racers do not have, examples are fork lengths, handle bar style, exaust style, to have sissy bars or not, etc. On cafe-racers you have to have a certain kind of handle bar design, seat design, exaust design, etc. Choppers look more bad-ass cruising the highways than cafe-racers and can shake the ground if you have the right exaust. Who doesn't want to take either bike to Bike Week or another show?
The movie is live action so it stands to reason that they want ALL the elements in the movie to look as REal as it would in real life. Computer animated characters do not mix well with live actors.
Enderwaves, you would probably like the bike at http://www.countingdown.com/movies/15658/board?viewpost=3659850&folder=0.
Hunter Rider, where did you learn that Jesse James designed the chopper? That would be an enteresting read.
4CABGs, remember that Caretaker has at least one horse. There is also a slight resembleance to a horse skull with the skull on the hellcycle.
For the point I told of priar, (The front wheel on the bike is definitaly CG 'cause it is not touching the ground and the forks probably are not real or not that big of chain links, though there has been chain link forks) the flames are probably CG as is the reflections of the flames and the repeating chain links (because of the computer animated look to them).

The whole things looks perfect to me. Now the big question is will it only apear in CG or will there be an actual bike? From what I see the bike is totally possible to fabricate exept for maybe the front forks.
Has anyone else noticed the back fender? It looks like spinal ridges all the way down from the skull to the fender!!!!
This is going to be one SWEEET movie!

You're right, but....it is way, way more difficult to bring on screen the stunts GR did usually on '70 with a chopper, without appearing cartonish, because choppers aren't built for easy manouvring. Heck, in GR2 comics he was always on one wheel, jumping and bumping on cars, buildings.(but GR2 bike was in a more urban contest)
But i like the bike, the more time i look at it the more i like it. Mostly because of its general form, very aggressive and dynamic, things many of the choppers i've seen wasn't. THIS chopper, with that "though" fork could really fit well on screen in the "bending physics"(more that "out of them") stunts that are GR trademark...I could even easy picturing it smashing through buildings or cars, like GR2 bike did.

Uhmm BTW, in the photo of the packaged bike, it seems somewhat little... Maybe the bike IS real, but it's not exactly as the "poster", with most of chrome parts addedd in CGI.

Good point. The chopper is indeed more suited for "crashing" stunts instead of things like wheelies and long jumps. I guess that's just one of those compromises that has to made based on whatever bike type was chosen.

I wonder if GR is going to drive up walls like in the comic - that could either be cool or stupid, depending on how it was handled.

Hope you don’t mind me answering this.

Caretaker never carried the GR spirit. When the medallion of power was divided he was given the task of watching over the families held it. I don’t remember the exact issue but Caretaker actually tells the story and they even show a silhouette of the Midnight Sons on horse back. Now that I think about it I should find that issue, I think that one of the horses had horn much like the hellcycle.

Actually, MSJ early already "confirmed" at least a "climb-to-wall-then-jump-through-an-helicopter" stunt, and even "better than that", so climbing walls appears to be a sure thing.
We also know the bike melts and breaks the asphalt, and recently that it jumps, so i'm very positive, especially because all the things we've seen by now are following GR spirit very well.

Thanks theunsung. Point 3 of my horse motif. :-)

I voted option 1, but I'm not sure about the chain forks and skull. The rest of the bike is perfect though.

Yeah, I have the same two concerns also, and also i voted #1, because it is awesome despite my apprehension on the skull and chain.

That silhouette you talk of was awesome. When I first saw that was when I first really understood what a Ghost Rider was and how long they've been protecting earth of those who spill innocent blood.

That was really great!

Oh my god!*sbluoosh* yes it's the second one *sbluooosh* Everytime i see that pic i can't stop drooling *sbluooosh*.
If i could afford a Saltaires picture it would be this one, it's dynamic, it has Power, and the medallion behind stands greatly for the GR Legacy.

Good question... highly doubtful... put also possible. That's a good question to ask MSJ in a QandA, whenever he has time to do one.

Uhmmm we can expect some kind of auction/very special selling of some of the 6 bikes used in the movie(at least the ones that Nick or MSJ don't take :))... just as any sci fi memorabilia, maybe someone will be authorized to make some copy of them...

Like someone said before, a Hellcycle based on the Dodge Tomahawk would have been wicked but this one is kick ass. It's better than what I expected.

InVictus
04-27-2005, 01:36 AM
Recently i found something on the hellcycle that really remarks that it IS really Grace transformed, if you look at the top of the gas tank, just behind the skull, next to the light reflex you can still see that the tank is bicolor: there's still a hint of the flame painted! (at least that is what i think should be...).

crystal_flame6
04-27-2005, 04:26 PM
Grace would be easier to change into the hellcycle than the stunt bike. I agree with your sharp observation though, it does look like a bit of the paint job on Grace.

FlameHead
04-29-2005, 03:05 PM
I doubt the stunt bike will be doing any changin'. I wondered at one point if all his bikes were capable of turning into the (a) hellcyle... but later thought that would be un-necessary.

Grace makes sense to be the changer. It's something that Blaze would be riding on the outside, not the stunt bike. And Blaze wouldn't change in while he's doing a stunt or anything. Where would the stunt bike get a chance to change really?

crystal_flame6
04-29-2005, 03:51 PM
If he has to chase someone/thing in the middle of his show. I agree with you though, i think the only/main bike that will change into the hellcycle is Grace, unless JB is left without a bike for some reason (repairs, paint, etc.) and takes off with someone else's.

crystal_flame6
05-04-2005, 04:30 PM
That could make an interesing part in the movie, if you think about it.

FlameHead
05-07-2005, 11:47 AM
JB could very well drive any bike that's in the movie whenever it's needed but if they go with the Hellcycle having it's own brian or being able to be controlled while GR if off it could make it pointless for GR to ride anything else.

crystal_flame6
05-07-2005, 04:02 PM
I kind of want to see the bike be able to control itself, just to add on to the fact that GR is not your average superhero (or viligante). They could surprise us and have BH catch JB on a friends' bike as the sun goes down and the onlyway to get away quickly is to change the bike he is on or have it torn to pieces and try to think up a story to tell his friend about why his bike is in thirty-thousand pieces.

FlameHead
05-14-2005, 12:00 PM
Having the bike control itself would be a neat way to add another weapon to GR's arsenal. I think there's a strong chance we'll it it move on it's own at some point... though again, I'm only speculatin'

crystal_flame6
05-16-2005, 08:45 PM
I want to see GR mow someone or something (Preferably a really bad criminal) down with his bike leaving tracks and fire in its wake as he tears after someone else.

FlameHead
05-20-2005, 11:27 PM
Ohhh, that's pretty violent. I love it. I have plenty of images with exactly that happening... Or maybe even something like this to keep it in the PG 13 region.

I said somewhere else that GR slinging someone on the front of his bike and racing threw town would be fun to see in the movie.

Hopefully MSJ can or has worked most of those ideas in. They would be easy to put in. Just have GR grab someone with his chain as he is chasing someone else down the street, then he could do any of the punishments described above.

Well, there's no way it could win the hearts of everyone. Perhaps your mind will be changed when you see in on the big screen.

FlameHead
06-09-2005, 08:45 AM
Me too. That's one of my biggest hopes for the movie, now that I know the chain is going to be involved heavily in the flick. I really want someone to be dragged down the street.

Now, for effect, I'm sure they wont be flying through the air like that. They'll probably be dragging on the pavement as that would be very painful. Either way, I wanna see it happen.

crystal_flame6
06-13-2005, 05:53 PM
Hopefully MSJ knows how we feel about the scenes and has put them in since they are a big part of the comics, or so I understand, and dragging someone down a street or ready to fall off the front of a flaming bike is a good way to get someone to talk pretty quickly. I still want to see those two pics you posted used in the movie, 'cause it would be disappointing not to see them brought to the big screen.

FlameHead
06-18-2005, 09:31 AM
I don't know about disappointing... but I really would love to see scenes similar to them. I don't know if it's possible to be disappointed with this movie as no matter what it turns out to be, it's still Ghost Rider on the big screen.
