One word for ya, dude: electrolysis.
Put two electric leads into water, say Electro's hands into Hydro-Man, and the H20 breaks down into hydrogen and oxygen.

That's actually how they beat them. Gambit is being attacked by four beautiful fem-bots (not even joking), Electro has grabbed Wolverine by the wrists and is electrocuting him, when Logan flips Electro over his head and into Hydroman. Hydroman evaporates, and then Logan knocks Electro out, after cutting the points off his star-shaped mask with his claws :)

I dont get how she makes it either. If you notice, it seems to be coming out of a hydron or something not from the water. I wonder how she did that?
Quite easily actually. I'll repost this from earlier in the thread:
Storm can manipulate the natural elements of the earth. Water is an natural element. Considering that she is tied directly to the earth's gravitational forces, she can defy it, and easily cause that water to rise in a number of ways.
For example, she could've caused a powerful wind funnel to dive down like a shovel and literally scoop that water up and outward. Tornadoes (known as waterspouts) have been known to form over bodies of water. So all she would have to do is create a micro-tornado of centrifugal force, focus its axis, hit the water at a certain point and cause it leap upwards. And then with her walls of wind those waters could be easily dispersed outward. Think The Ten Commandments Red Sea SFX, but cleaner.

meh........... electro would have to be supercharged at the time... to an extreme... i just see hydro man strongly cunducting the water, not to mention in recent views, hydro man isnt made up of actual water, and just organic water of some sort.

Actual water doesn't conduct electricity. It's the impurities that make water conductive. The 'organic water' would work even better.
I suppose we're getting OT on this though. Seriously, read those books. They're great :up:

Well they don't KILL Hydro-Man, they just turn him into steam. It says later that an angry face forms in the clouds before it starts condensing.
So the physics of these MUTANTS is fudged a little. It's still pretty entertaining.

Does Spidey have an mutant villains?
spideyboy_1111
03-14-2006, 09:37 PM
i dunno.. most his villains who have powers, are meta-humans...
Lizard, ock, greengoblin, rhino, scorpion, and morbius were all lab accedents...
electro, sandman, hydroman, man-wolf were all nature accidents (even though man-wolfs was on the moon lol)
Vulture has just a machine he developed....
kraven is a mix of jungle magic and wich doctor serums
venom is from space....
hobgoblin stole technology and later got posessed by a demon
black cat got "altered"
i cant really think of any mutants to tell you the truth.. that are his actual villains that is.. hes fought mutants before though

Vinnie Jones on Juggernaut's Fights in X-Men3: The Last Stand: “With Wolverine mainly. It was incredible, Brett wanted most of the actors to do as much as they can. I mean, Halle Berry does this amazing stunt where she spins down about 40 feet and goes through this garden through the wall and she does it all herself. It’s awesome. And we’ve done some frightening stuff. It’s so great with that because me and Halle and Hugh worked on Swordfish together so it was a little reunion. We had good fun.”
 Ant, you should ask Brett about this kind of stuff in your interview with him.

Centripedal force is the force pulling you towards the center of an orbit, centrifugal is your body's tendency to pull away.
IE Centripedal force would keep Halle's clothes on, but only as long as it was stronger than the centrifugal force trying to pull them off.
Of course, centrifugal force isn't really a force... but that's another story.

X3: Storm Whips It Good
Filmmakers get her ready to fly.
by Steve Head (sheadd@ign.com)
March 14, 2006 - Let's face it. After two movies, Storm's character development leaves something to be desired. Yeah, we got to see her do a few actiony things, when she wasn't teaching class or leading a field trip. But change is upon us. For in X-Men: The Last Stand, we can tell you this: her level of anti-Magneto action takes a big jump. Or, more to the point, a lift-off.
"Those fans that wanted to see Storm fly finally get to see that," says producer David Gorder. "She has a bigger role, she's flying, and fighting, and Halle looks really cool doing it" he adds, promising fans will see moves from her they've never seen before.
"The movie for me is still very much an ensemble," says Berry. "That's one of the things I really love about working on X-Men (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/695/695095p1.html#). But this time my character is saying something, she has a definite point of view. Brett was really instrumental in making that happen. He's really been a supporter of just finding a voice for the character." And, she admits, he was adamant that this new movie (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/695/695095p1.html#) featured Storm's flying ability.
"We incorporated it into the storyline," says Ratner. "It's part of the plot."
http://ffmedia.ign.com/filmforce/image/article/695/695095/x-men-the-last-stand-20060314000811525.jpg
To put Storm in the air, the production turned to Simon Crane. He's "one of the best second unit directors (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/695/695095p1.html#) in the world," says Ratner. "He's been shooting some fantastic action sequences with these guys. I'll look at the dailies at the end of every day and I'm shocked."
Part of making it all look real is having Berry do much of the flying herself. "I don't know why Halle actually does it," says Ratner, "because nobody is going to believe it's her anyway." Nevertheless, for one particularly tough scene, Berry was "up in the air, hovering. She's literally creating a kind of windy, tornado effect and she actually spins. She's on a wire. She must have done it eighty-seven times."
http://ffmedia.ign.com/filmforce/image/article/695/695095/x-men-the-last-stand-20060314000811869.jpg
For the more complex scenes, the filmmakers "cyber-scanned" Berry, effectively creating a digital double for Storm. "Putting them in a wire is one thing," says Gorder. "But we would never use the actors (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/695/695095p1.html#) in any serious practical stunts. Storm and Magneto will do wire work in which they're in a harness on a wire. They're the characters that will fly."
"I've been saying this now since I started the movie, I just want to fly," says Berry. "Storm flies in the comic book (http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/695/695095p1.html#), and I wore a cape for two movies and never used it. It's part of her power and part of what her mutation is, and it's nice to be able to get to use that talent and that gift in a profound way that really helps my fellow characters."
For a glimpse of the new Storm in action, check out the latest trailer for X-Men: The Last Stand. As Professor X tells her, "You, of all people, know how fast the weather can change."

Ok. I never thought it would, but my excitement level has increased. I'm sure loads of people have thought it, but i aint sure if anyones wrote it; do you think we could have a battle between Strom and Magneto??!?!!
The thought of that makes my heart skipa beat! It would be magnificent!!! Imagine it?!?! I could just be reading into it, but i am praying we will have one!!!

I am beginning to doubt that Phoenix will fly, and I'm okay with that. Self-levitation by telekinesis is more difficult to digest than the obvious flight mechanisms - wings (Angel), wind (Storm) and magnetic repulsion (Magneto).
But I'd love to see Storm vs Magneto. In terms of battle magnetic elementals, Storm fought Polaris in the comics (she won), and has also fought Magneto a few times (and lost every time!). Someone has to kick Magneto's ass in this...

Well, out of Storm, Logan, Beast, IceMan, Kitty, and Collossus, Storm would be the most appropriate and powerful force to take on Magneto in a battle. With that helmet on, Xavier would be useless against him, and the other X-Men listed above are mostly melee fighters (with the exception of Bobby of course).
Erik is not a melee fighter and neither is Storm. Since both use the Earth's forces to draw on, they're more evenly matched.

I was thinking maybe Storm is confused as to why mutants are being forced to be cured. They used to live normally, happily. Prof X then says 'You of all people know how fast the weather can change."
Alternatively, they could be talking about Jean. Storm might be asking how Jean could change into this unstoppable powerhouse when she used to be quite weak.
:)

The feeling I got from that line from the professor is that he is trying to console an obviously worried Storm that the hysteria that has probably cropped up with the announcement of this "Cure" could die down and things can always get better. Hence, the "how fast the weather can change". Last weeks big news story is all but forgotten when something new happens. Xavier, as always, is an eternal optimist!

I wouldn't say he's obviously referring to anything, since we don't know.... though prior to the posted article I would tend to agree with what you are saying. But the way the quote was used in the piece hints at changes in Storm's powers, hence the rapid change in the weather, using the weather as a metaphor for the Storm (the Weather Witch)

HALLE BERRY SIGNS WITH TALENT AGENCY ICM: Actress finally seeks representation after leaving WMA last year.
E-mail to a friend | Printer friendly (March 15, 2006)
*After operating nearly a year without an agent, Halle Berry has signed with International Creative Management (ICM) for professional representation, reports Daily Variety.
The actress left the William Morris Agency (WMA) last year after the president of the company, Dave Wirtschafter, blurted her personal information to New Yorker magazine in a March 2005 interview.
In addition to bad-mouthing other clients in the article, such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Wirtschafter disclosed details of Berry’s private negotiating tactics on films, stating in the interview: "She will be treated as an investor in the film for the difference, and for every dollar she invests she would get $1.50 out of the gross until she recoups 150 percent of her investment." Wirtschafter added that Berry would be willing to "give up a little money to get a good director or costar."
Berry, who won the 2002 best actress Oscar for “Monster’s Ball,” continues to be represented by her longtime manager, Vincent Cirrincione.

Willis blinded by gorgeous Berry
London: Action star Bruce Willis is struggling to star opposite Oscar winner Halle Berry because her beauty blinds him.
Willis is currently shooting the movie "Perfect Stranger" alongside Berry and says she is so incredibly stunning that it hurts his eyes, according to contactmusic.com.
He says: "I get all awkward. She's beautiful. It's almost like looking at an eclipse of the sun. You have to take a pin and poke it through a card and look at her through that. You could damage your retina."

I don't think the weather was a metaphor for Storm, since she is a weather controller. The weather was a metaphor for non-weather events in the film.
He was saying 'the political weather is changing' and you know how fast weather can change. She then looks up and the clear skies go dark...
Events are getting darker, and she is perhaps surprised at it all, at how the president's stance is changing (he appeared to be on their side at the end of X2) and the socio-political climate is changing to be against mutants again. And Magneto quickly steps up his activities. Events move quickly and he is using the weather as an analogy so she can see how the world can change quickly...
It's quite clear that's what was meant.

the part where he says "you of all people know how fast the weather can change" is a different scene then the one where storm looks up and her eyes go white.....they're just edited together for the trailer. But i agree he was talking about changing events not powers.

"X-Men" reunites Jones with his "Swordfish" co-stars Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry, who play good guy mutants Wolverine and Storm. And when mutant emotions run high, fight scenes are inevitable.
"[I fought] with Wolverine mainly," says the actor. "Brett wanted most of the actors to do as much as they can. It's awesome. I mean, Halle Berry does this amazing stunt where she spins down about 40 feet and goes through this garden through the wall, and she does it all herself. And we've done some frightening stuff. All i can say i cannot believe how utterly atrocious and disgraceful....I have been to ever doubt halle berry's capabilities in playing the weather goddess. she delivered each line beautifully with raw emotion my weather goddess storm would. I think they are trying to keep it secret. When Simon Kinberg was asked if Famke flied he replied "She is playing Phoenix". He could have just said no. She deserves to fly. My point is this: Since Singer held back so many of the characters from their full potential, the mainstream audience (and some of us by extension) have gotten used to them being very reserved in their power displays.
Magneto is the only one that levitated in both films. So to go from that to having Storm spinning like a top, Phoenix burning the skies, Angel taking flight, and Magneto levitating too, it may be overkill leaving mainstream audiences with a "What the--what is up with everyone suddenly flying?" response. Like too much of a good thing can be a bad one. If they had spread this out more over the course of the 2 films it might be more easier to accept.
Even the Multiple Men are flying in the trailer. :p

This is now my wallpaper. Beautiful image.
Now, on to the important part: complaining about the hair.
I actually love the X3 hair, I think it's amazing. BUt these new shots, which show Storm's hair blowing back, make it look like what we were all calling "black lowlights" look like black roots. Black roots would indicate that Storm was dyeing her hair white in the previous films, no?
The change from white to silver, while a very nice one, is also a bit strange...

I'm fine with the black roots. Again it doesn't look like a wig and that's because in real life, people who have white hair often have graying roots. So it works for me.

It definitely is the most realistic hair Storm's had in the movies.
I also love the choppy cut. It gives it her a much tougher, edgier look. I hope that, like the interviews have said, her new look really comes out of a total overhaul and strengthening of the character.
So far all these trailers and publicity stills really do make it look like Ororo finally has "more to do."

Has anyone noticed in the latest trailer that there is a tremendous amount of fog around the X-Men when they line up with Storm? The sky is dark and thunder can be heard. I wonder if she's purposely creating it to even the odds against their foes--since they are so few, it would give them a better advantage taking on the Brotherhood.
And the set reports did say that she'd not only be dispersing fog, but creating it too.

Well the wind is obviously up--look at her cape. And they're no doubt going to whiten her eyes, so who knows what she's calling for. There's too many people around for lightning to just arbitrarily strike down. We've already seen her using her fingertips for that in the trailer anyway.
She's probably preparing for a tidal wave. She looks like she's about to hover.

Looking at it again, it looks like soldiers are gathering around/behind her. I'm thinking she's either attacking a flying character(Magneto/Phoenix?) or she is creating some sort of baracade, a big storm or something to try stop the Brotherhood entering Alcatraz. Can't wait to find out anyway!!

Bishop Tutu, Halle Berry here in June
By Ruth O'Kelly Lynch
International dignitaries and stars, such as Nobel Peace Prize winner South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Halle Berry, will come to the Island in June and accept Global Vision Awards of Excellence.
This is the second time the awards have been hosted in Bermuda and are presented by the King Humanitarian and Global Foundation International Inc.
"The purpose of the 'Global Vision Awards' is to demonstrate total community involvement, global respect for all humanity and a commitment to diversity by heralding the accomplishments of men and women who have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for all, those individuals and groups who augment the richness of this great global society by partnering in causes of justice and equality," a press release stated yesterday.
The foundation gives grants to various groups around the world, in particular education charities that assist underprivileged students around the world and also provides scholarships to students.
The awards are televised to 185 countries and will be held at the Fairmont Southampton Princess Hotel on June 30. The event is being supported by the Bermuda Alliance for Tourism and will bring international dignitaries and artists to the Island
Along with Archbishop Tutu and Oscar winner Halle Berry, singer Patti LaBelle and singer/actor Rick Springfield will also attend.
Many members of "The General Hospital" cast and "The Young and the Restless" cast will also be on hand along with other people involved in the entertainment industry.
There will also be three world leaders on hand at the awards, though the organisation would not say what heads of government would becoming. Previous years have seen the Prime Minister of Grenada and Prime Minister of Dominica on hand at the ceremony.

And this:

I don't see timidity in the former shot. Buy I do see panic in the latter.
Much will depend if they intend on whitening her eyes in post. If they don't, she's obviously not creating a meteorlogical disturbance.
The Guard
03-16-2006, 12:34 PM
There is a difference, yes. In one, her blocking is closed (with her hair down), which makes her look more sure of herself, more intimidating. In the second, her blocking has her in a very open and vulnerable position (with her hair blowing around), which makes her look a bit more insecure in the scene. I really think she's just looking up/concentrating to create something. Unless you know something we don't, I think you're looking too hard. With Halle's eyes not whited out, I'll bet she would look similar in that first shot you indicated. I honestly do not see how you get "panic" out of what might be, at most, a surprised look. "Panic" is bit more intense, and more akin to the look Jean had when she said "kill me" in the trailer.

I don't think it's panic, it's emotion, perhaps driven by desperation, by the need to act quickly and decisively... after all, her emotions are linked to the elements, and she is channelling her energies into the skies to bring down a weather-related attack/response. It's a great picture, and she shows far more feeling and effort than we have seen in the other movies.

Not when Sabertooth had her around the neck. She looks calm in part the other times because of those white eyes. But go back and look at some of her facial expressions when she summons storms, save for some of the stuff in X2. She emotes quite a bit.

See, this is what I don't understand about your theory. How can anything be said to give her "pause"? She may well be in motion here. We haven't seen her in motion in this sequence. This is a still, not a clip.

Halle's Storm has always showed emotion (it just hasn't been very intense or varied on her part). I think people here are thrown because they keep reading far too much into the quick shots we've seen for whatever reason.
Remember, this still is ONE quick still. It may well be from a scene where she goes from wide-eyed in a split second to narrow-eyed as she focuses the rage of the storm via her emotions. ONE QUICK SHOT cannot tell us what this scene is about beyond the actual events. And given what we've seen from Storm in the past, the only thing we can assume here is that she is indeed calling down a storm of some kind.
