So yeah..uh, I think Halle is fine as Storm.

I'm not a huge film/hollywood fan so which actor plays which character doesn't really bother me that much. When i saw X-Men and X2 I had no idea who any of the actors were (apart from being vaguely familiar with Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen) so it wasn't hard to see them as the characters.

It kinda bugs me that since visiting forums like this, when I see X3 I'm gonna have predetermined ideas about the new characters and it'll be more like "Ooh look it's Maggie Grace as Kitty, Kelsey Grammar as Beast!"

As for Halle, she was wimpy in X1 but that was the way she was written. She did a decent job in X2 I think. I couldn't care less about what she does outside of X3, wether she's a whiny diva or whatever, so long as she pulls a decent performance in the film. She improved in X2 so hopefully she'll just keep going from strength to strength.

What we need is some X3 movie news!! But until we do, let see who here is a real storm fan.... This section will be dedicated to your favorite Storm stories. It can be from TAS, The movies, any comic verse, and side stories (this means even when she appears in another characters story such as Wolverine). Im calling it:

ALL THINGS ORORRO MONROE

I'll start with a simple one, from the animated series, the episode wasnt about Miss Monroe, but rather showed one of the first times she took charge on the series. Magneto had a plan of Highjacking a missile silo. His plan worked and he set the missile to destroy Washington (I think). The sequence that happened next remains one of my all time favorites from that show. Orroro, immediately blast off after the missile pushing herself beyond her own limits to catch up to it. Then the prof Psy-linked with her to tell her how to disarm it. Barely keeping consciousness she completes the task and only after shes made sure the missile is disarmed does she allow herself to pass out. Wolverine and cyclops watch as their teammate goes limp in the air. Of course wolvy being the "backbone" of the Xmen takes off running and dives through the air to catch her before she hitts the ground. Shes out cold, she knew she would not have the strength to land, but would have gladly sacrificed her life to save millions of others.... The Goddess that is Storm!

If she keeps her powers, so what weather phenomena would you like to see? We've so far seen fog, tornadoes, an ice-storm, lightning.

Lightning is pretty much a set piece in her repertoire. If she is in any climactic battle scenes, what else might she use?

I think it would be good to see a flash-flood to wash away Avalanche's landslides, or maybe super-acid rain, or ball-lightning (thunderballs). And definitely for her to 'fire' lightning from her hands.

I like the long, sleek hair look Halle has now. Transfer that over with a white wig. I also like the 'lightning from hands' thing. Try something new for the character. I enjoyed how her eyes crackled with electricity in X1. That was absent in X2, and it was missed. :( :p

I want to see a stronger Storm. One who's more of a leader, and takes charge. She's been written in X1/X2 the wrong way.. "Do you hate humans?" "Sometimes..." "I gave up on pity a looong time ago" etc, etc...this isn't Storm, IMO.

Her original Earth Mother headdress would look great, as would the simplistic arc she had at the beginning of X-Treme or maybe headband thing she sported towards the end of X-Treme. The Revolution thing was just ridiculous, so keep it far away. Her hair needs to be full, long, flowing, and free WITH NO FRIGGIN' BANGS! Use a damn headdress to cover the wig line, not some jagged assed, generic bangs.

If they are taking Storm into the warrior woman direction *snicker* then a cropped hair cut circa UXM 275 or the final issues of X-Treme would work more than long and flowing. I think the mohican thing from the 80s should stay with the rest of the punks, back in the 80s.

Except Storm has no defensive shield against energy attack (although in the comics she did once create some sort of 'pressure dome' to deflect projectiles by increasing air pressure so the air was 'solid'...and maybe she could 'weave' electrical static in the air into some sort of interference field to stop energy getting through)...

To be honest, that move looks pretty impossible! I doubt even Halle could get her foot right behind her head!

It's the idea of two 'goddess'-type mutants with awesome power facing each other that would be amazing to see.

Here's how I see it:

1) Storm vs Phoenix.... Storm loses
2) Magneto sees Phoenix has become a threat and turns on her
3) A groggy Storm helps with by sucking away air to create a vacuum in which Magneto's 'bottle' effect of magnetic rings will draw away Jean's energy
4) It's not enough - Jean escapes. But in her briefly weakened state, sanity has returned. She sees what she has done, what she has become, that she is far beyond these mortal trials and tribulations. And, after a farewell speech, vanishes in a blinding flash that knocks everyone to the ground.

She created several Tornados while sat on her backside, flying an X-Jet. I think they said they had more tornado's in that scene than the whole of 'Twister'. Just because Storm hasnt showed her power at its strongest doesnt mean she cant be powerful. She hasnt needed to go all out with her powers as of yet. Maybe against Jean she might have too....

I don't think you can see that your response was worse than his remark. Don't go by a poster's previous statements, only the statement at hand. That keeps the flame wars down to minor brush fires and allows for a tense, but still superficially pleasant environment. While all of the statements made previously could have been trolling behavior, it's hardly been enough to deserve probation or banning, and that statement imparticualr was hardly as negative or hatred driven as you're making it out to be.

As for rattlerbrat, it's not my place to go one way or another with her. My opinions are my opinions, and if they coincide with hers, they just do. if she says something I find funny, I make notice, and if I say something she feels the need to respond to, I hope she does. Though you'll loathe to hear it, let alone admit it, both you and she reside in a similar category to one another. There are times when you both make the most perfect sense in all the land, and others when you're downright insane. It's no different with me, or with anyone else who posts to these messageboards. It's human nature and we're all like that. I'm sure rattlerbrat can tell you that she and I have never been hand in hand with one another and have had our fair share of arguments back and forth, but at the end of the day, who really gives a ****, you know? I may not agree with everything that comes out of your figurative mouth, or rattlerbrat's figurative mouth, but the freedom of speech and voicing your opinion, no matter if it's positive, negative, neutral or downright lunacy, is something I will defend. I don't like Halle and I really don't like the character Storm has become, neither in the films nor comics, and I have every right to say so. My (your, rattlerbrat's, and all other's) methods may not be agreeable to all or acceptable to all, but stating that opinion is not a privelage under circumstances, it's a freedom and right that we all have. There are guidelines we are asked to follow, and that specific statment was well under those guidelines. We all know how I feel abotu Halle and Halle's Storm. We all know how rattlerbrat feels about Halle and Halle's Storm. We all know how Electric Wire feels about Halle and Halle's Storm. We all know how X-maniac feels about Halle and Halle's Storm. We all know that we all know how each other feels about Halle and Halle's Storm. Is it enough now for us to just accept each other's difference of opinions and stop commenting to one another if all it will accomplish is arguments? Rattlerbrat said she wants to be left alone and allowed to voice her opinion. I wholeheartedly agree with her. Electric Wire said this is a thread for discussing Storm, not only a positive discussion, and there's no sense in repeating yourself over and over and over again, and I wholeheartedly agree with him, too. But I don't think anyone can see that we're all bothering one another and we're all repeating the same crap over and over again. All of us. Myself, Rattlerbrat, Electric Wire, X-Maniac--all of us! So let's all make a conscious effort right now to just say we disagree and we won't address each other again if all it means is we're going to fight with one another. If we have something to say to one another that isn't designed just to get the other's goat, then please, let's do so. Otherwise, let's just keep it zipped.

For example, I'll take my own advice to someone else and see where it will get us. Rattlerbrat, not mentioning Halle or Nona or any actresses in the universe, tell me, what sort of direction would you like Storm's character to take? Ignore the impulse to tell me that you believe no matter the direction, Halle will mess it up, because I do agree with you on that. Just tell me instead what you think would be best for Storm, outside of recasting her. Let's steer away from Halle and talk just about Storm. I'll divorce myself from the fact that I haven't liked her character at all since Claremont got his hands back on her if you'll divorce Halle from Storm, and we'll focus just on the character. I agree this new Storm is a far cry from the loving, nurturing weather goddess of the golden age, and it's not a direction I like at all. Storm has what it takes to be a great character again, but so long as Claremont keeps her, she's just doomed. And I also agree that the T'Challa relationship would be a welcomed change I would like to see explored. If she could get out of Claremon't clutches and be put with a good writer that would explore that relationship, it could do wonders for her. But giving Storm some babies might make her remember she's not some bad ass mo fo, but a maternal force to be reckoned with. She needs something like that to get her back on the right track. But, at least we can take solace in the fact that no one has tried to make her their Queen in a while. LOL

It makes her come off like some hoiler-than-thou-art b*tch. Normal people cry. Normal people fall in love. Normal people have close relationships with people. Storm is everybody's "best friend", everybody's "rock". But who does Storm go to when she needs comfort? A person like that is usually 1/2 an inch away from a full-blown meltdown, but Claremont would never make his GODDESS that real. She always has to be untouchable - the one girl that no one is worthy of getting. PLEASE.

And I've ALWAYS thought that Storm is bi. She doesn't strike me as the type who would eliminate 1/2 the human race when it comes to love. 1) Every announcement causes a frenzy of hysterical negative over-reaction -- as seen here on this very forum.

2) It's close to filming, the pressure is on, they have little time for the official PR smiley stuff if they are running around casting people, adjusting the script etc.

At first I was excited to hear him getting a book (the Xtremes) but after reading it Im like, uggghhh. The problem though, really lies in the fact that no-one wants storm (writers). Most say they have no interest in the character, and the rest just pick her up and use her like some toy... *Oohh Flash, bang, pow, make the thunder roll!! Storm is waaaaaayyyyy more than her powers, and the maternal, friend to all needs a real relationship. We need to see her personality expressed in more than just the "Im da queen B" and forever a loner.
