X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse

game informer magazine has a new article on the sequel, here are some of the most important things they mentioned:

- 16 characters from the start and more that you can unlock as you play
- you can play as members of the x-men or brotherhood
- foes include apocalypse, his 4 horsemen and lady deathstryke
- costumes include: ultimate, astonishing, uncanny, etc.
- 10 powers available for each character, out of the 10 you have to pick 4
- maps 3 times bigger than the ones in the first game
- a lot more cg scenes with improved graphics
- better in game graphics (no glove hands this time)
- new characters include: toad, magneto and bishop
- this time we'll see a LOT of cameos

i think they have to work on the graphics but they still have like 7 months to do that. the thing that hyped me the most is that now you can choose from 10 powers :D

Yeah, that will be cool. Plus the fact that even when your on the battlefield, if you mix X-Men and Brotherhood members onto your team, they will make remarks at eachother.

yup there'll be more scenes but what i really like is that they changed the company that makes those scenes, the one they'll use this time is the one that made the tv ad for xml1 that looked just beautiful :D.

The only thing that was ultimate in x-ml 1 was the costumes...and if you look at the first screens of x-men legend they were going to use morisson's new x-men outifts at first but went with ultimate since by the time the game would be out the morissons outfit would be to.

i always played with 6 friends, one dies and gives the controller to the other and so on. the best thing about this game is the multiplayer, and i think it's more entertaining if you're in a room playing with your friends than alone playing with people somewhere else you don't even know... IMO

so what new characters would you guys like to see? or what new powers? anything..

Been playing X-Men legends recently....I am getting really excited for 2. Last year at the Comic Con they had an entire Activision section with a full version of XML so I'm hoping this year they do the same with the sequel.

there isn't an official list yet. but i think all the characters from the first game will be back. maybe xavier and jubilee won't.
i hope they add banshee, dazzler, cannonball, shadowcat and angel/archangel. i'd like to see polaris but now that you can play as magneto i suppose their powers would be too similar.
from the brotherhood the only confirmed characters are magneto and toad. i hope we see mystique, pyro, avalanche, scarlet witch and quicksilver.

Seriously though, I hope they put more effort into debugging the AI than anything else. The old 32-bit games had better 'follow the leader' and attack-pattern AI than this game.

I love in XML when you attack the military base...I love walking around as Colossus and picking up tanks, etc and throwing them....or charging things as Gambit and running away.

Comic Con is in July. I think a lot of new details will be revealed at E3, but last year at the Con you could actually sit down and play the game for all different consoles...I believe it was a full version too, maybe some minor tweaks needed but it was all there.

i hope that xml2's missions have better, more diverse and challenging objectives.

i also hope we see emma tranform into diamond. i always thought that the reason why they never made her transform in the first game was because she couldn't use her telepathy when she had the diamond form on. but now in astonishing x-men she can use both at the same time.
and if she makes it to the game pleeeease give her her hellfire club outfit *drools*

Hope so, but they'd have to work him in in a particular way. He should always be able to fly (no meter like the first one). Rogue, Storm, Angel + others should not have to "power up" flight. It should be a base power of the flying characters.

i think E3 is on may 17th but i don't know if activision will show xml2... i hope they show it and if they do we'll have even more new stuff about the game.

i hope they make a trailer like the one they had for xml1 that had the names of the characters and clips of them showing off their powers... but if they want to keep the cast a secret like in the first time i doubt we'll see a trailer like that until the game comes out.

I just hate that Sabretooth vs Wolverine fights aren't more fair really. What I'd like actually is for you to be able to transfer your date from the first game and into this one. It would suck having to start over from scratch.

And yes the flying characters should be able to fly without losing energy. I've always thought that that was a ridiculous aspect of XML. I mean I want to see Jean Grey in the air throwing things around and causing chaos or Storm surrounded by lightning and tornados. These are things that I was only able to get a glimpse of.

I actually liked Storm's. It's Collossus', Magneto, and Magma's that sucked. Everybody else was perfect, especially Iceman which suprised me because that's exactly how I imagined him. Collossus sounded too old and stereotypical, and Magma was just plain irritating. Magneto just sounded odd. They should have gotten the guy from X-men: Evolution. Hope they change the guy for Cyclops too. Sounds too young. It was excusable because I thought "Ultimate" when I saw the characters so I figured they were all still young but now he has the Astonishing X-men costume so they should get his original voice actor. Don't know why they changed Gambit's either. His original voice actor was always perfect for him.

use his card throwing power on any destroyable thing like a barrel, some walls, cars, etc. he kind of claps his hands on it and the object starts charging then you have to run away before it explodes. that was cool and you can also do it with jubilee.

you also have to activate an attribute which i don't remember its name (i THINK it's something like detonator). whenever you upgrade that the explosion becomes stronger and the time it takes to explode is shorter.

yeah, it sucked starting from scratch everytime you finished the game. it would also be nice to be able to select the mission you want to play.

Everything looks great, but I SERIOUSLY hope they up the number of playable characters because they are basically doing away the some big time fan favorites...Iceman, Colossus, Jean Grey, Rogue, Beast, Gambit? I could see getting rid of Magma and Jubilee but why ditch the other ones?

I think an example of cloned powers would be Wolverine and Sabertooth. I would easily do away with Sabertooth, Mystique (since she probably won't be able to transform), and Toad in exchange for Gambit, Colossus and Iceman.

Actually the costume in the last game was his Ultimate costume. This looks like a modified version of his regular costume. I dunno, I haven't read any X-titles in a while except Ultimate, Astonishing, and Wolverine.

Makes more sense to me actually. I mean why would they give you ever single character from the get go? Part of the fun of it is earning these characters. So you start out with 16 and there's bound to be more. For all we know we could have 24 or 32 characters.

The one thing I did notice is that superstrength seemed to be equal for all the characters that obtainned it.

well you had to use that power on a mutant, if you use it on a soldier or any other human you just stun him. to use the power you absorbed you have to press the same buttons you use to absorb them.

Several characters have been confirmed in the newly-released trailer and in a recent demo from Activision. We know for certain that gamers can play as Magneto, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Bishop, Juggernaut and Nightcrawler. Well Storm is one of the leaders of the X-men, that alone is the reason she is back plus if I had to pick between her and Cyclops I would pick her, she is far more useful than he is and with 10 powers she is going to be great since she can freeze, summon rain, fog, and other weather powers.

Liked the first Legends, somewhat, but too felt it was repetitive. That, and leveling up required endless rounds in the Danger Room. Nice to have it around, but it shouldn't be needed in order to max your character out. And who's idea was it to throw Jubilee into this game? Otherwise, it was fun stuff.

Well Storm is one of the leaders of the X-men, that alone is the reason she is back plus if I had to pick between her and Cyclops I would pick her, she is far more useful than he is and with 10 powers she is going to be great since she can freeze, summon rain, fog, and other weather powers.

i think both iceman and storm were very useful and powerful. i hope iceman comes back but if he doesn't i hope they give storm ice powers to make up for bobby's absence.

you can buy a walkthrough or if you dont want that go to gamespot.com and they have free walkthroughs. i was stuck in the morlock tunnels for such a long time, but when i bought the walkthrough im now three missions away from beating the game.

Oh and the forum's administrator already said that list is real.
I still think it's just stupid to have both Juggernaut and Colossus, don't get me wrong I like Colossus but they'll be too similar, we could've had someone like Banshee, Dazzler, Pyro, MYSTIQUE or Avalanche.

Sunfire, well I don't know what to say really..he's better than Magma AND can fly but if they wanted someone who could control fire then Pyro would've been better, this game is all about the X-Men and the Brotherhood teaming to fight Apocalypse and out of a roster of 16 characters just 4 are from the Brotherhood.
If we already have Bishop (guns, comes from the future to help) and Jean (telekinesis and telepathy) why Cable? He'd be just a combination of the two.
I think Toad will surprise us all, he might end up being a very cool character.
In the first game Rogue sucked, I love the character so I hope they improve her a lot this time.
I didn't like Gambit the first time either, I hope they improve him otherwise someone like Dazzler would've been cooler.

Yeah. I want a Wolverine flashback stage where he battles the Hulk. Or at least some where he faces Wendigo or something. That would rock SO friggin hard...Eh, maybe in the third we'll have Alpha Flight in there(flashbacks or not. I don't care. Just put them in there...Hell, work in as many characters as possible. Bring on the eXiles and X-Statics too).
