I'm making Thor wall papers Here are a few that I have so far. I need a Hi Res scan of either issue 45 or 46 of the logo. I need the "Lord of Asgard" and "The Mighty" parts of the logo but the whole logo will do. All the covers even Mile high are blurry when you enlarge them and I don't have a scanner, so if you can help it'll be great thanks.

That's my whole problem, there's hardly any Hi-res pics on the net of Thor, and I don't have a scanner.

I personaly like Thor with a beard. Ever since the Simonson era I thought he looked cool that way.
My other problem is I have a 10 year old graphic program that doesn't really help with the res like photo shop can, so unless I get the pics in hi-res they turn out bad, but I figure since there are hardly ant wallpapers out there of Thor I'd try making a few with what there was available.

Beta Ray Bill is a scary ass looking dude, I just noticed that. I can imagine his teeth chattering together like some Clive Barker Hellraiser character. I remember watching Beta Ray Bill in the REALLY old Thor cartoons...his voice was all deep and resounding. Like the guys who narrate movie trailers.

Well, Nosebleed, keep in mind that if you're gonna draw the Norse Myth Thor, that you don't use horns on his Helmet.
Vikings wouldn't wear that style helmet to battle, because the horns could be used to twist a warrior's head around and break his neck. Wings were used all the time, but to be honest I'd think they would have used the wings of a raven because of Odin's Ravens, not doves wings like on the Kirby helmet.
I've always wanted to draw Thor's castle, but, could never really find a good enough discription of the building, other than it was covered in gold.

I've seen several different "historically correct" helms of Thor, but this is my favorite. I'd use this one if I were to do a movie poster manip of Thor. However I'd use something like your manip for a "Lord" Thor.

I miss read that, Yeah I'd like to see the Maniped helm.
The only time I'm against White feathers on the Helmet, is when it should been done correctly, say a TRUE looking Thor. Otherwise, they all look cool to me.

Its fatalism and warrior spirit echoes thruout other comparitive mythologies including those of some American Indian tribal pantheons and Japanese Mythos



Interesting that you have German/swedish Ancestry

I'm Navajo by birth and upbringing on My mothers side (shes Italian/Navajo) raised in a "hippy" commune outside Anchorage Alberta in the 60s
I have more to do with that side of things in both belief system and spirit

But

My Dad's side is Schwabian/Irish - Schwabians are gypsyish
German Jewish immigrants that settled in hungary but made homeless after the first world war and settled in Ireland - only to help the Germans in the 2nd world war (ever seen Eagle has Landed?)

My Dads surname's Ritter - which is German for Knight

I made a Thor wallpaper many moons ago, right around the time the "Standoff" arc came out. I thought I'd deleted it, but apparently it was still in my Photobucket account. Here it is:

The logo was kind of a Pain. If you look close at it you can see the Three from the cover of #4. I basically siluetted them further and placed the font over them then cut what wasn't in the font away.

You know, I just realized something. In Norse Mythology, Thor had a belt and gauntlets that he wore in order to help him lift Mjolnir. It's funny that the rune on his belt buckle is also the runic symbol which represents Strength.

Actually in myth, the belt was the belt of strength and the Gauntlets were to keep Thor from getting killied by Mjolnir's power. Kind of like norse electrician's gloves.

The Marvel belt of strength leaves Thor drained whenever he wears it, though. Like a candle burning twice as brightly.

Yup Thor's hall is called Bilkirnir. It has 540 rooms probably a room for everyone in Asgard, tho Thor is also the god of fertility. :D He COULD have ALOT of kids.:wow:

Well as for aritsts it depends on the story. Right now I love Coipel's work on the new run, BUT, also like Kolins' work in Blood Oath. I love his folktale style, it fit perfectly for that mini series.
Tho my most fave covers are one from the only Black and white Magazine Thor was in Marvel Presents #10, Thor vol 2 #57, and Coipel and Djurdjevic cover on the variant #7 was kick butt, it looked like a Frazetta or Boris piece.
Another was a poster painted by Joe Jusko with Thor and the Asgardians on a viking ship in space, there's a wallpaper of iot in here.
