hi everyone, Slade here with some new ideas I hope we see more of. How many of you remember the series starring William Katt as the bumbling hero in the series of the 1980's. It was one of my favorite series and would be interesting to see a new series back on the air. Im creating this thread for those of who has ideas of who to cast, plots and costume designs for a new movie and anything else you want to say. Please post pics here to help, all is welcome.

Feh. It's just another cheesy old TV show that really does not need to be made into a movie, so it probably will be. And that theme song has either a) gotta go completely, or b) be stuck in the movie somewhere strictly as a gag in one scene and nothing more. Plus, let's be honest here...a GAH movie doesn't have a real good chance of being a success here in the U.S. based on the show itself; its name will damn it right off the bat overseas.
Still...in the right screenwriter's hands, it might make for a damn funny spoof of comic-book movies considering how prominent a trend they are lately. My approach would be to set it up kind of like a Green Lantern parody, where the aliens represent an intergalactic police force and the Milky Way needs a new officer to defend it, so they send this probe to Earth to find a suitable subject and imbue them with the power somehow, probably with a nanite beam that forms a telepathically-activated, crimson-colored 'exo-suit'. But both the probe AND the data module that shows how to use the powers are accidentally destroyed by the doofus kid who just got them, Ralph Hinkley (and no offense toward Katt's version of the character, but the Harpo Marx 'do has ALSO gotta go http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif ).
So he basically has to fly by the seat of his pants when he's trying to use his powers to help people: imagine him rescuing the obligatory hot-girl-next-door from bad guys, and as she's holding on to him in this touching, tender moment that evokes the first Superman movie...he asks her if she can swim. She says, 'Uh, yeah, why do you ask?' At which point he drops her in a nearby swimming pool and calls to her as he leaves, 'I haven't figure out how to land yet. Sorry!'
And he NEEDS a superhero name, or at the very least a title of some kind. Given the GL parody approach, I'd call him something like 'quantum patrolman'...that's quantum patrolman...qp. Stylize those two letters a bit more and you might have something that looks, well, a little bit like the actual GAH logo.
Then throw some supervillains into the mix for a change, add the cameo by Robert Culp and hopefully the movie won't be a complete and utter disaster..just a disaster. http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

They were already talking about this a while back, and I thought that Topher Grace would be good for that role.

What with Zoom and Sky High coming out, it'd seem kind of redundant, but it'd basically be like an entire movie of the Spider-Man scenes where he's coming to terms with his powers.
David Spade would have to play the lead role.

Instead of Conney Selleca you could get Katie Holmes

and instead of Robert Culp you get Harvey Kietel

Except Peter eventually gained control of his powers, whereas Ralph didn't. ;) Ralph could probably swoop in and save a bunch of kids from an oncoming runaway truck, but he's likely to keep flying them to safety while the truck slams into a fire hydrant, rolls over and causes a five-car pile-up at an intersection.

What i hope is that they just do this film right and a actor like William Katt to play the new role lead. My version of the film should be years later in 2005 and Ralph is retired from teaching and his son now grown up and on the verge of marraige. The aliens return with a new mission and when Ralph (William as him again) and his son are taking a drive the car begins to be taken and the alsiens tell them of a new threat. Now...his son is chosen to take over a new suit and Ralph as his mentor. In one scene could have Ralph open a trunk and inside is the old suit and uses it to save his son taken hostage when he leaves the suit inside the home.

nice but it wouldn't work for two reasons [1]after ralph was exposed to the public he gave the suit to someone else [2] the show estabished that if the suit was not worn for 30 [earth ]days it would self destruct [itwas alsoestablished that it would also self destruct as a security precation if anyone tried analyzing to duplicate it] :hyper:

OK, now that this whole thing has been stuck in my head :D , I scratched off a rough idea of my costume redesign during my lunch break. I used the supplies available in my office so I hope you can forgive the Highlighter trim...
EDIT: Since I obviously have a problem posting images themselves, here's the link: http://www.deviantart.com/view/18177645/

anyone remember the dinosaur movie that William Katt made? Can't remember the name of it, but I'd love to see it on DVD.
There was talk some time back at Disney to do it with Adam Sandler. Haven't heard anything in a year or so.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT...
This TV show is a terrible basis for a movie.

Most are. We're just trying to point out the potential in it that studio execs most certainly will not pay any attention to when the time comes.

That's like saying "How can a Baseball fan dislike a certain team or player?"
TGAH sucked then and continues to suck now. :(

The series is a classic and reason it stayed on the air and DVD is cause its a favotite of the fans. I know the graphics wasnt the best for the 80's but thats all the budget they had then and the cast were great.....especially a man never in comedy before it and was on stage. I want to see a movie on the show but done right and if you remember the epidode he was known to public was never shown and later they forgot by the aliens and he returned to the suit in deason 2.

Tell me what you think of this possible actor line up for The Greatest American Hero movie. The work in the photo is shotty, I did it quickly for visual thought, but you get the picture none the less. Take it easy.
