My drawings. Please tell me your opinion.
Psycho's art (http://www.gler.akureyri.is/myndlist/nemendur/hrannaratli/new_page_2,1.htm)
No more pics will be added to that gallery because the admin has locked my access but I will still keep posting new pics here.
I've posted some of them here before, but heres one that's new.
This one is very Sin City esque and it kinda looks like Hartigan.

I think some of your stuff is a still very basic, but you have a cool sense of stripping the character down to a guttural kind of representation. You are definitely on the right track, I think it shows which pictures you spent a little more time on and had a clearer vision for.http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/hyperhead.gif

I'm only 15 so hopefully I'm gonna get at least a little better.
The reason I haven't coloured them is that I haven't got a program on my computer thats good enough to do it.

love the sandman, love spidey, and i love the hulk bald but his pose is a little awkward
great lines though
psycho
05-24-2005, 06:56 AM
The hulk's pose is intentionally this awkward.
Imagine him just having punched someone really hard in the face,
his arm swings with incredible force and ends up where it is in the pic.
The force of the arm swinging would probably cause his legs to become a little... for lack of a better term, wobbly and there for his pose is the way it is.

John McClane, or well its supposed to be John McClane, It doesnt really look that much like Bruce Willis but the hair is the way it was in the first movie and if you have an open mind about it you MAY be able to see some far fetched resemblence to the way he looked in 1988. :) :p :p :p :)

psycho, you're amassing a great portfolio of work. Much of it is very impressive. I think the Green Goblin, especially the face, is the most refined you have yet.
The one small criticism I'd make is that I'd vary the thickness of your outside lines more. They tend to be a little static and not fluctuate when you are drawing the figures. If you can integrate that subtlety, I think you'll be surprised how much better and "finished" they look. That's really all I think is missing--the drawing just need that extra push to take them to the next level.
All in all, it's really impressive stuff. :)

No they're supposed to be that way, I know the hands are in a kind of awkward position but if you try doing that with your own arms you'll see that the hands and thumbs kinda end up looking like that if you have the right perspective.
When I was trying to figure out how his hands should be, I actually had a friend of mine do that pose with his arms and hands so the hands are correct.

I like your art, but I think Incredible Bob is correct. If the thumbs are upwards then you should see the palm of his hands and not the back of his hands. Based on your pic, I see the back of spidey's hands so his thumbs should be facing downwards.

Everyone makes mistakes.no. after you explained it i saw what you meant. the only problem was, in the position you have the hands, you wouldn't see as much of the thumb. the only reason they look like they are on the wrong side is because the thumbs are too visible and are extended farther than it should be.
an honest mistake. just, next time, hide the thumbs a little more

The Joker. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to colour this pic. I had to do it four times before I actually managed to save it. My Paint Shop Pro Program kept shutting down just before I finished the shadowing and I had to start all over again. But I finally managed to make it through the entire colouring process without the program shutting down on me.

hmmm I guess the answer there is save and save often...
My suggestion is to draw a line at a direction towards the characters- now thats gonna be your directional light. In your joker pic you have indicated 4 or 5 lights with your shading that all conflict with each other. Did you just plan on shading the jacket? coz the rest doesn't show any signs of light at all, especially the gun.
He also doesn't have a thumb at the mo, and if the rain (?) is falling that way that means that is the direction of the wind- which means the smoke on his gun is going the wrong way.
Its all about attention to detail you know- believe me its probably easier for other people to spot these things than you after staring at it for so long. Thats why its good that you post stuff, so we can help you out. :)

Saving a lot is the way I finally managed to finish it.
And about the shading, I guess it is a little chaotic but my original intent was to keep the shadows on the right side and the highlights but I guess it got a little over crowded with lights.
And about the smoke from the gun, that was intentional. The idea was that he just fired and is pulling his arm toward himself and the smoke is following the movement of the gun but something got lost in the translation.
But ultimately your right It is hard for me to spot these details when I've spent a couple of hours in front of the computer. And its this sort of criticism that I learn from and it improves my artwork and improves my colouring.
Psycho, your artwork kicks ass! You should be a animation artist for Marvel and DC cartoons! Keep it up!

Coloured Robin
I know that in some areas the colouring is pretty bad and thats because the outlines, when scanned, turned out to grayer than I thought they would so the transition from colour to outlines are pretty bad in some places.
On a brighter side though, I think I'm getting a little better with the shading

You have the best line work i have seen in a while. Your clean *which is key* Your drawings are great. Just seeing from the start you are progressing and getting better.
Its very grafitti esque your style, you character faces are on key.
Some simple critique, I had to learn this my self, perspective can be a witch but yours has gotten better. Your hands are really good, but really need to be scaled down on the ladies.
How long have you been drawing yourself? I can see that you will be a really awesome comic artist. *I don't know how old you are* but you should really consider getting a website up to display your work cause its really good!

Well Psycho, try making the waist very thin if you plan on using an animation style. Keep in mind there more softer curves a woman's body than a man's.
Bring your hip line up a bit more, and try not to make her shoulders so muscular. Wonder Woman, and Big Barda would have shoulders like that, but, not Bat-Girl.

and ill use this as a quote from one of my instuctors at school... This is a character I thought of last Friday and have been working on since.
Her only weapon is the mystical sword Excalibur. She is very skilled with the sword and when it is needed the sword provides her with an indestructable armour. It also increases her strength, speed and stamina.
Nobody knows how or where she got the sword or how the sword came into existance. It is however known that the sword is an entity of its own and can communicate with its holder and helps her in battle by being able to predict the opponents next move.

Here are a few original characters of mine I've been working on for a couple of months.
Its a team that (for now at least) I'm calling TSO, which stands for Top Secret Operations.
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y234/HrannarAtli/TSO.jpg
OK. there is one thing on that pic I feel like I have to explain.
The Time Manipulation is supposed to work in the way that she projects a force field around her self and can manipulate time within that force field.
For example if a bullet were to be fired into the force field she could slow it down immediately after it enters then she could change the bullets trajectory and speed it up again. She can also use the field to speed up her own movements or slow other people down and therefor have one-up on everybody in hand to hand combat.
She can't keep the field up for extensive periods of time and thats why she has the sword. The sword is in fact the ancient sword Excalibur and she is extremly skilled in handling it.
And here is another pic of two of the members of the team.
Both of them have appeared before on page 7 of this thread. I've drastically changed the character of Excalibur though.

I've been working on the next pages of my comic lately but they're not quite finished. In the meantime I've noticed that the shading in my pics have been something I really need to work on so I did this wolverine piece last night for the sole purpose of practicing shading.

I did another pic of spidey in that same pose but this time he's wearing the "Iron spider" costume. Which I dont particularly like but I think is OK as a temporary thing.

Thanks.
I have a story in my head for Eddie Brock being reunited with the symbiote. In the story Eddie is in a mental institution after being found half dead in an alley with severe bleeding from his wrists(MK Spider-man #8). He is very different after this experience. He regrets all the bad things he has done in his life and wants to make up for them.
Meanwhile the symbiote is realizing that it wants Eddie back and when they reunite they are a very different Venom then they were before and therefor his appearance is slightly different.
I really should flesh out this story of mine and see how it would work.:D

That venom is damn cool, loving the white veins, good touch. And you got rid of the teeth, which i never liked in the first place. Hope to see a compilation of the x-men pics u have done. A group pose would look awseome. In short, Love the style. Your anatomy has just the right mix of cartoon and realism, your faces are expressive, and your poses are damn cool too.
Im hideously jealous! hahaha In fact im turning green with envy :hulk:

The Freddie Prinze Jr. line is from the first volume of The Ultimates
Betty Ross is having dinner with Freddie Prinze Jr. talking about the idea of him playing Iron-Man in a movie. When Banner transforms into the Hulk he becomes extremely jealous and the first thing he wants to do is kill Freddie Prinze Jr.

Yeah, well I'm sure if you search you should be able to find a pic of him in a similar pose. I mean what poses havent been done at some point.:O
And that line is from the First volume of Ultimate X-men.
I'm actually thinking about doing a series of the Ultimate versions of characters in action poses and have them all say some lines from the comics.
ghost113
02-24-2006, 08:55 AM
it's the line not the pose that is when wolverine is in the danger room simulater and he is fighting all the x-men and that is what he says to beast during the fight.
