No, she wasn't. She was perfectly cast in Heartbreakers and did a great job. She was sly, funny, bad and put the heart in the character. She did great in The Village, even though I hated the film.

Sharon Stone was laughable in Basic Instinct 2. She acted way over-the-top in Catwoman. Have you seen the photos from the Basic Instinct 2 premier? She looked HORRIBLE.

Sigourney looks great for her age. If you think she's ugly and old, then what the **** are the Hollywood make-up and de-aging technology for? I'm positive that she'll do Emma Frost justice. All she needs are a little make-over and Emma-ish clothes. I could see Emma being rich, wealthy and powerful in a mansion.
Lol i like the way you didn't mention the Snow White film. That was baad. Maybe she wasn't a bad actress simply bad films but I still couldn't see her. I was shocked when Brian Singer had plans for her.

These people seem to disagree with you:

I've never seen it before, so I wouldn't know. Why let one movie ruin her, hmm? Sharon Stone was baaad in Basic Instinct 2.

If they go for an older Emma, I'd like to see Sigourney Weaver playing the character.
bryan singer said right after x2 came out if he ever brought in emma frost it would be sigourney weaver and she would have been xaviers ex love!

Worked for Stewart and McKellan in X3's opening. :)
That's exactly what I meant, Majik1387.

I see Sigourney. She dyed her hair red in Heartbreakers. Why not blond? She looked sizzling hot for her age. Why not?

Emma Frost better not be a miscast.

the idea of sigourney was really interesting. An older Emma, more in the older side of the cast, and more interesting to confront with Jean in the films.

Right now, I'd like someone like Charlize, someone in her age, to confront Halle, not a young Emma like Ashley, although she fits the part totally, in terms of look, but maybe someone like her would be too young and less interesting for the films.

Exactly. I was very interested in Weaver's Frost. I think she would have been excellent . . . and yes, Weaver looks incredible for her age and can easily pull off being a blonde.

I meant more along the lines of the previous idea for X3 . . . I would never buy someone like Ashley Hartman (or anyone similar) as maintaing the presence of Emma Frost . . . Someone intelligent, manipulative, and seductive . . . as well as someone who would be coersive and powerful enough to manipulate Janssen's Phoenix/Dark Phoenix . . . not to mention she would have to have the presence to defy Xavier, as well as convincingly be the headmistress of her own school, while simultaneously running her own company and holding a prevalent role amongst a group of ruthless, power-hungry elitist mutants that comprise the Hellfire Club.

. . . and I was never interested in the new rendition of Frost in the comics (she was almost randomly made incredibly young). I look more toward her original incarnation. I'm kind of tired of her and Cyclops' relationship, and I never expected to see it featured within the movies, so I never considered Weaver's age to be too much of a problem . . .

For Frost's own movie, however, I wouldn't suggest Weaver. Haha. Oh well, I guess we should get back on topic . . .

At first I thought Sigourney as Frost was a terrible idea. But now, after reading was Singer had in store for her (an ex love of Xaviers) and seeing those images of Sigourney, I am starting to come round to the idea a lot! It would be a much more interesting way to see her on screen that the typical 'young and ****ty' that everybody else seems to be wanting.

This is what I don't get about this thread it sometimes people can't be objective about some artwork.

I noticed in particular that you have criticized Batboy which I saw a few threads back on something I actually haven't seen yet but considering the few "artpieces" you've exhibited on here, you should be the very last person dishing out advice OR criticism. This, the photo of some guy and the Wolverine manip are below amatuer.

Here goes another creation of mine. I'm a big fan of Cyclops and I feel this deep urge to undo the atrocity that X3 inflicted on my favorite character. I hope you like what I did here. I've made them in four sizes to accomodate screen resolutions.

Im not harsh, just a brutally honest. First versions are great, 2nd versions are ok, but third and fourth round manips....come on guys. Oh and I have a love hate relationship with lens flare. Lens flare is good, but not on its own. You need to actually use it to your advantage other than just plopping it down onto a picture and calling it a day. Place it somewhere, where itll direct the eye, draw attention to a piece of your art. My Digital Imaging teacher used to fail anyone who used a lens flar on projects simpily because its so easy to do. He worked in the film industry for a while and had no time for overused filters. Hence Ive adopted his outlook on digital art. Do you ever see Greg Horn use lens flares on his art???? Nooo. He uses a digital media to do all of his pieces. Learn from example is what my teacher used to say. Lens flare in team with liquify and the colorizing options can work to your advtange though. Twist your lens flares, warp them, swirl, texturing them until you're happy. Dont let the audience know theyre looking at a lens flare...or better yet PAINT YOUR OWN. But nobody will be impressed that you can put a sparkly filter over a picture. That's basic photoshop knowledge. A monkey given enough time could master the lens flare. And I never criticized bat boy. I made a manip with his hero Mr. Deegan for fun. The wolvie manip I did I painted in 5 min for fun. I could have told you it was a piece of ****. As for my colossus pic, I used photoshop 5.0. It doesnt have all the fancy schmacy tools 7.0 and CS have, so I had to paint Colossus' metal skin with the air brush and I messed with the levels a bit too. Again for fun, not for competetion. Sorry for any busted jaws and feelings fellow manipers, I just want to see some more creativity and less filter use. Push!

im not a professional, you seem to be in a kind of course/art college. I never posted advices/comments/thoughts on your manips until you started criticizing mine.
I've made "my version" of organic steel in a Rogue manip before, so if you wanna go through these pages to see it...and yes, i used filters. I love using filters, i love using smudge (and the lens flare was just a tease), i love making my work easier. I wont change my way of making manips, simply because its not something i care about.
I'd like to see your organic metal in Cs photoshop though. This is not a tease or anything, i just wanted to see how good of a professional you are, since you claim your manips are bad because of the program you used. Yes, i used a top program, and im no professional, so i wish i could see your work on a top program.
Again, this is not a tease, i'll be quite happy if you show something good, i like art.
But i must advise you: next time, when commenting about the work of other people, be more polite, or you will lose a lot of recognition for your own work because most people will dislike you no maatter how good what you do is.

Bobby looks fine, Kitty's hair looked like that, Storm is on the right side an rogue looks the worst. Also it is real, if you were here long enough you would know

Actually, you are dead wrong. It is most obviously a manip, and anybody with any kind of photoshop knowledge would be able to point out all the obvious flaws which make it known as a manip.

1) The characters are just about all in different focus. Look at Storm, and how crisp and sharp she is, then look at Collosus just behind her, way more blurred that Storm is, and so is Rogue.
Even worse are Kitty and Bobby, as both of their heads have clearly been maniped on. Not only has Kitty's head been cut out poorly, their heads are both blurry in comparison to their bodies which are sharp and crisp.
Looking at it more closely, it would seem Colossus' head has also been manipped onto the body, yet it isn't as easy to notice. But, the same flaws from the Kitty and Bobby apply. The head is blurrier than the body, plus his head seems to have been shifted in 'hue', making the skin on his face appear more yellowy than the rest of the cast, as well as his arms.

there's a lot of Latin/Hispanic people with blonde hair, blue eyes, green eyes, and red hair. the stereotype image of people from South America is that they're all dark skinned.

it's not that Ashley Hartman doesn't look like Magma depowered, it's just that she's not from Brazil and isn't, as far as i know, a Hispanic girl.

things like that bother me if something is important to the character's history.
Halle Berry's casting has always bothered me - she's wrong for Storm. Storm was never half-black, she was the descendant of an African Princess.

find someone who wasn't half-black to play Storm, someone with a commanding presence and height needed for the role. that didn't happen, too late now.

sorry but as long as they look the part, thats what matters, after all.. rogue isn't canadian.. and wolverine isn't australian
it's easier to fake an accent then it is to fake an ethnic look.
get a girl for Magma with the correct ethnic background.

i'm not that big of a stickler for people playing to their ethnicity completely. c'mon J.Lo is Puetro Rican and she played a Mexican - things like that don't bother me, it's when they hire someone white to play someone Asian.
ummm....what?

Now, now. We all have little wish-lists and gripes regarding the casting of X-Men, for various reasons.

If it isn't obvious by now, my own pet peeve lies with Halle's casting. Yes, yes, I know it's been 6 years later and yes, yes, I'm still grousing about it, but that doesn't change the fact, for me, that while Berry is an attractive woman and arguably a fine actress, she just didn't inhabit the role of Storm - at least, not the one I know from the comics and animated series. To be fair, lousy script and character development helped sink the movie Storm for me, but physically, Berry just didn't have what it took to convince me she was the commanding Windrider - IMHO.

Maybe we don't actually need an authentic African princess to have played Storm - just someone with more presence and bearing, I guess. But since this is all a moot point (let's face it, Stormberry is here to stay), let's just indulge in our little ...ah...flights of fancy. :D

Peace out!

see...he gets it!
why couldn't they have just cast Angela Bassett? Storm reads as an older character, so her being played by an older actress wouldn't have been a big deal.

Baredevil

newwaveboy87: According to rumor, Angela Bassett was actually Bryan Singer's first choice to play Storm. She gave a reading (my friends tell me it was in the Bonus Section of the original X-Men DVD; I dunno, haven't seen it yet), but sadly, she turned the part down.

sometimes it's scary to think about the X-Men cast that could've been:

Wolverine - Dougray Scott (wtf?), Russell Crowe
Cyclops - Edward Norton, Luke Wilson
Jean Grey - Maria Bello, Charlize Theron, Julianne Moore
Rogue - Sarah Michelle Gellar
Mystique - Gina Gershon

newwaveboy87

I wouldn't have minded those people.
Gellar isn't that great of an actress, or nothing i've seen of her work has proven otherwise. she has her niche, and is fine in it, but doesn't have much range.

i'd rather see Charlize as Polaris, of if we must have her young, Emma Frost.
Edward Norton is a great actor, but i don't know about him for Cyclops. Sinister...maybe. i could see it. he plays psycho very well.
Luke Wilson is more comedic than dramatic.
